I kind of forgot about this due to how much time has passed. Now that I've been reminded though and since it's actually being looked into now, I reexamined the situation. Not much has changed, though I would like an examination of Kyres's own behavior now as a staff member to be looked over rather than me needing to make a separate complaint on that too, because I don't think lore staff should be behaving the way they did. With that in mind, I do have more to say. In particular I'd like the third point Kyres raised to be looked into in that regard because it kind of links to everything else. The whole "Claimed to (up until the complaint's closure) have a bag of shit to drop on me from nondescript people in nondescript circumstances." or that I'm gathering a squadron of people that "paint themselves as my (Kyres's) number one haters" and trying to stir shit up among people who know Kyres among other things. As soon as I even mentioned I'd like to see if anyone else could comment, Kyres was immediately lashing out and fixating on it in particular. While on the initial complaint you can already see my thoughts in that regard I will just say again, it wasn't exactly a major point or something this complaint hinged on, but I did think it might be useful to just... ask those who have been present when I've had to deal with them, others and Kyres to affirm something? Kyres isn't really hearing about me getting the avengers together because I don't really care to slander or badmouth people to others and they likely still haven't heard of any real campaign to get people to start hating them or whatever. Most of us are adults and can come to our own conclusions. I'm never going to tell someone to not talk to a dude just because I have issues with them. It makes it hard to respond to these mentioned scenarios where I allegedly want the complaint to be a circus, a dogpile or that I wanted it public in an attempt to ruin a reputation rather than just being the usual complaint anyone can see like any other minus the confidential complaints. I'm unjustly shutting down a dchat conversation and bulldozing my way in and holding my "position" over people in a "debate" by saying "Hey, please ahelp so we can handle stuff rather than complain about sec/antags here, thank you." as if that's unreasonable for me to even say. They've said worse about me even in the first post they made that concluded in what I'd call the faux apology, but I'm not really going to stretch it and go as far to say this was a deliberate and heinous effort to lower my standing in a community I've been in for a few years because the fourms aren't exactly the place to go if you want to be heard or seen. Nonetheless it does turn complaints into the self fulfilling prophesy Kyres mentioned. Rather than just taking it as it is it turns into "Why did you make this public" and devolves from there because the issue is that I even made it to begin with rather than going about it exactly how they wanted it. It's not uncommon for someone to lie or assume something about us that isn't really right. We can't always mollify people though. It is just really paranoia that leads to stuff like worrying staff are specifically out to get you, colluding in msay or thinking we're putting you on our shit list if we see we've been ahelped just to name a few examples like that which aren't uncommon thoughts I think. Would be far too much time and effort even if I wanted to pursue a grudge if I had one and it can probably be seen even after multiple complaints made by me or focusing on my actions as staff that I don't try to get retribution.

If the name is exceedingly illogical or stupid we still ask people to change it generally, that's not really ever going to change even if someone pointed to some absence on a wiki page and used that as a reason to go overboard so no I don't really know what you mean. At most, there's been isolated cases of more whacky names that got through for whatever reason but It's never been common and it typically needs a good reason. It's not that rare of a ticket. When I say borgs should have guidelines, I think It's clear enough it it wouldn't be exactly the same as the humanoid races though. Just that there should be something written at this point if people seemingly need that. I'd give some examples and some "do not do X" and leave it at that probably.
-
It doesn't matter to you. To me, It does reflect on borgs overall and the lore given this was a canon occurrence in an event about canon consequences. We do have naming guidelines for people, so I do think borgs might benefit from this now.
-
I just find it hard to take borgs seriously, especially in relation to the borgification procedure. After the mutiny there'd be weeks of joking about borgings where the borg will still essentially have the same name but with numbers added, as if that would happen right? It would be silly. And then it actually did happen canonically. What they represent gets undermined by how the lore and people actually portray them and there's not really much lore there to begin with I suppose. Removal feels like a pipe-dream but at the least, I think we could try to support them better and set a better tone. A few things are uncertain and one thing that comes to mind is confusion lately on what exactly makes borgs in general tick. We did have circuit, MMI and "positronic" borgs. Apparently, there might only be MMI borgs canonically. The game itself always has a bit of a disconnect and I can't really blame people for not wanting to get into the borg code though.

I think it is kind of hard to say they had no place in research when they have even less of a purpose now that they've shuffled into ops. On paper sure, it's the "supplying" department, but science does that too on the technological end and roboticist players by and large don't really seem to be getting anything out of the transition. Should it lose Heph I'd pretty much see it as a necessary sacrifice given the whole justification of "Well robots are their thing" could be raised about stuff like Idris handlers and the like. If it didn't exit operations it would still need its location moved and additional things added to facilitate its interactions with the research and medical departments. I'll probably have to see the why on why it was moved to ops in the first place too.
-
They don't want to do this. If a megacorp is in a department it'd have to be in every role within that department, minus the SCC of course.
-
Will consult with the wiki team soon if that is the case, and staff in general to see if we're on the same page. That aside, I'm remembering now that changing its department would also mean Machinist would have new employers. I think in this case that would be Zavod, NT and Zeng for research.

GladiatorGames's - Command Whitelist
WickedCybs replied to gladiatorgames123's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
What I've seen is good and I think you would be fine in command as long as you moderate the more extreme aspects to your characters. The executions as your HoS, or Erik being willing to "parole" someone with a mutiny charge are what comes to mind there for me. -
Staff Complaint - WickedCybs
WickedCybs replied to Butterrobber202's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
You absolutely were told the overuse was essentially spamming the chat, which was the main reason it couldn't be overlooked. I don't really appreciate you trying to rules-lawyer or lie to me and other staff when you get into even the smallest amount of trouble like this. -
As far as I'm aware and have ruled in tickets for now, they haven't lost their ability to work with mechanical organs. Everything mechanical is something they can work with.

Staff Complaint - WickedCybs
WickedCybs replied to Butterrobber202's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
It's not really unheard of for us to note or even ban people for spamming OOC channels. More importantly to me is that again, it was brought up before to Butter and the notes will show that. In a hypothetical where I didn't do this in the past, a note even on the first offense and after being told not do something is pretty much standard procedure. It's a summary of a ticket and nothing major in terms of punishment. That said at this point I'm not sure if they even want the note removed or for there just to be guidelines. If it was just the latter then I'd say a complaint wasn't really an appropriate way to do it. -
My plan at the moment would be having the Machinist be nominally under research (The RD is their boss, they're close to more stuff they need to interact with). They would also have some basic medical access and a medsci headset. I don't really think the the role needs to be changed radically or lose anything, but to just have these additions. Anything more would be out of scope for what I have in mind. The position of where it should be exactly is a little harder to work out as gem has plans for the area I initially wanted to use. I will likely wait for that PR to finish before seeing what can be done as it may still be in roughly the same location as the relatively unused charging room on the second deck, unless there seems to be another good spot to insert the workshop in. So this might be a while, but It's on the Listâ„¢.
-
It's been a while and to me It's increasingly been feeling like the roboticist doesn't have much of a purpose in Operations. They're still reliant and must communicate with research, now made harder with the lack of radio comms. They also frequently tend to collaborate with medical due to some overlapping stuff like prosthetics or augments but there's been less of this due to their distance and getting bypassed with nanopaste. When it comes to operations, they're alienated from the their department by being so far away and have no real overlapping duties. At most, it facilitates ordering stuff and talking to miners. What I would propose is moving them back under science while also giving them medical access and a medsci headset so they can communicate with both departments. I was toying with making this an actual PR, but I wanted to see if it would get shot down first. I think their location would have to stay for now, but I want to move them to the second level as well and find something to put where they used to, maybe maintenance.
-
Has been pretty helpful with mapping PR's and critique/help with my own work, if that's worth saying during this trial.
-
This is largely the same posturing Kyres has done since their first post in my complaint, so I will not rehash it with another back and forth. That only led to Kyres misconstruing, maybe on purpose, what I was saying and taking the conversation into wildly irrelevant directions. I will just respond to any questions. I'd say what I've said in that linked thread still applies here as well so that can be mentioned. The resolution of the complaint was fine to me, so that's all I can say on that front too.

I don't need to take your word for it, true. Read themself was telling me you were told to go back and I saw the order that corroborates this. The only one not listening to them was you. No, you were talked to during the end of that after you already almost killed them. They were begging for their life and were a non-threat you almost killed. Only saved by their buddy coming in and distracting you. So, you've lied that I agreed with your reasoning and didn't acknowledge it either. Now you've shifted to saying you were struck by how I ahelped you in the middle of it and how deadpan my answers were. There was no "battle fought to the teeth" in you getting slugged once while chasing after people to kill them despite orders to reinforce your buddies, and then decapitating two people who were not shooting at you at all, almost killing a fourth as well. What you were saying clashed with what I directly saw. I was watching the full exchange. When you clearly do something wrong, there's not much else to do other than elaborate on the why. This is also pretty hypocritical to say after admitting earlier that you jumped to conclusions as quoted below. Don't act as if crafting a conspiracy, lying about our interactions and assuming the absolute worst about me is anything other than belligerent here. The only relevant things you're saying are in regards to whether your status as an antagonist gives you a justification to execute anyone in your way, and I believe you crossed a major line.
-
This is still a complete lie and the same reasoning you gave to me in the ticket. I watched the entire exchange. You were ordered to fall back by your lead and the other merc was already far behind you so you were protecting nobody. You charged up to people just covering the position you came from and your "impossible situation" was running at people barely retreating away after suffering already lethal wounds to point blank them in the head when it was already clear enough they were not getting up again. You even attempted to shoot to kill an unarmed person which was contrary to your claims of only gunning for people firing back. Antags are allowed to kill their opposition generally but in this case the trend of you walking around in your super-powerful gear nobody can really damage and just PBing anyone in the head who went horizontal was way too much. Especially as you do the same when you play an officer. That's not really "gameplay" we encourage on either end. I agreed with your reasoning to behead someone? No I did not. You were noted, I told you in no uncertain terms to never do that again and I told you an officer trying to behead someone with an axe was insane and unreasonable. Despite having a baton and other tools you went straight for an axe to chase an unarmoured person and exclusively attempted to hit their head. This is quite a reversal from how apologetic you were in that ticket, which is concerning to me now. That aside, you've been trying to connect some supposed ulterior motive of mine to your post, that I'm apparently spiteful and gunning for you in particular. As you also say later on in this post, you even accused me of even being one of the people you executed and then changed the narrative to me "protecting" the officer's player when I told you we don't handle tickets we're personally involved in. The antagonist and officer you mention are two completely different people. They were both M'sai. M'sai just look similar due to their limited colour selection The reality is I joined the game and watched the firefight, then sent you a message. I didn't pay much attention to see if you were the same person I've talked to in the past. We generally take care of problems as we see them, or if they're ahelped. Well, let's take a look. I give you simple explanations and rebuttals. I do not belittle you. I tell you what the problem is. You come out swinging with... It's honestly just really strange? It's not really the same. The difference here being that security can't detain people in hardsuits without cable coils, the guy was actively getting back up again and killing a bunch of people and the headshots were only tickling their head because the hardsuit fully resists it. It was a full on crew beatdown in an attempt by the crew to inflict enough pain damage so they couldn't get up and kill more people. It quite literally took a force of kataphracts, the entire usage of the crew armoury and surviving security to take them down. You can even see in the log you posted pretty much everybody is attempting to hit them, three crew died already and there is an elyran still standing. Despite it all, they were not even half dead in the end when they finally fell too. In your scenario you just executed an officer and someone armed from the crew armoury who were already shot many times, then when another person wandered by you instantly lit them up and decapped them too while they were begging for their life and surrendering. So with all that in mind and with consideration that you've attempted to do similar things before, it was an antag ban. If there was some more understanding here, maybe I would not have needed to do so. I'm not exactly going to discuss something further with someone who assumes the worst and accuses me of handling my own situation in a ticket though.

@Cirukcaller if this is supposed to just be an appeal, It's denied and you should wait a few months before making another. If this is supposed to be a complaint, please follow the format on this post and I will move it to the staff complaint forum.

Third parties are neat. The more we add though, the more chances they have to block actual away sites from spawning that people can visit (and the third parties go to these as well). Third parties also take away players that could and probably should just be on the Horizon instead, as that is the focus of the server, really. Most of the offships have about 4-6 slots which is a sizeable amount of people away from the round. That said, it could be a symptom of the overmap as well, since currently I believe we have more third party shuttles in rotation than actual away sites.

Ckey/BYOND Username: WickedCybs Discord Name: Cyberspy/WickedCybs#8403 Position Being Applied For: Mapper, mainly. I kind of do other stuff too, though. Past Experiences/Knowledge: My past experiences essentially started on Aurora, where I actually got into trying out working on github, visual studio code, strongdmm. Examples of Past Work: I have a lot of PR's merged, most not actually related to mapping since I only got into this on the launch of the Horizon. I'll post what I'm particularly proud of, or pushed me out of my comfort zone though. The Yacht + Casino Ship port - I won't claim this as my fully original work, it was just my first foray into giving Aurora an away site that had much of the same systems its main playspaces would. Power, atmospherics. It's the sample of what I would like to eventually do for most of our sites and It's been gratifying seeing seeing players put what I actually thought would happen, into practice. Making attempts to repair these ships and fly them around. More Landmarks Around the Horizon - For a long while, we didn't have any means for shuttles, including the Horizon's own to float around the Horizon. They could only directly land in the hangars or dock, for those that could dock. Now there's a lot of options for where exactly you would like to go around the Horizon, which can be useful for the gimmicks and plans players have. Horizon Shuttle Enhancements - For a while, the Intrepid and mining pod ran on the magical power most shuttles use as of now, and their atmospheric systems were rudimentary. It involved some setup to help my future PRs and was a means to push my own point on how shuttles should be. The Luceian and Fisanduhian Zippos - Pretty small PRs. I tend to think of them because other than overall design of the zippo itself which was unchanged, I had to think of how to change the symbols and colours on it. I had to actually be a little more original, in that regard. I am mainly a copy/paster coder that builds off of other peoples work rather than make something truly original. Face Masks - My first PR (I think) where I added an item to the game, and a widely used one at that. It taught me how to make it spawn places, it was my first actual foray into mapping as I would place it in various areas. The sprite itself was a cut down gas mask with the only real original bit being the back facing sprite. There's also minor bugfixes, mapping fixes I won't really list here that taught me a lot. Additional Comments: I am generally content to just be a contributor, but recently I have had a focus on the overmap lately and how to make it more interesting. There's a lot of issues, persistent ones that I think we're accumulating and that I want to rectify (as an example, most third parties only have one navpoint outside their ship, some only have the hangar). The best place to do this I think, is from within the team. There will hopefully be more examples contributors can draw upon to make fully featured away sites and ships. I also used to main engineering in SS13, and that's some core knowledge on the principles of getting a map setup since it gives an understanding of the pipes, wires and such. I do have to say, massive mapping projects and stuff are things I haven't done before, and I couldn't be sure I'm capable of it. I still work best with something to go off of, or improve on. Sometimes the map itself is only really half the battle, as I have spent a lot of hours learning exactly what makes a third party tick with the one Kataphract pr I have up at the moment, and the map itself wasn't even the hardest part (It was mostly set in stone, too!) it was all the underlying code and systems.

[Resolved] Player Complaint - Kyres1
WickedCybs replied to WickedCybs's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
The dchat logs from IcjL-dITU (the ninja round, most of it was already posted though) and cjG-adyg (the changeling round). Those are two instances where kyres died or ghosted and then complained in dchat rather than ahelp it. -
Staff Complaint - WickedCybs
WickedCybs replied to Butterrobber202's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
"I shouldn't have been noted because there's no specific rule for this situation" is never and will never be consideration for not punishing somebody once they abuse something they've been told is a problem. I would have been more than happy to not leave a note and just advise you to stop, but I've had to talk to you before due to you distracting others and disrupting roleplay via spamming LOOC with your thoughts on antags and strategies. You should have known better by now due to this. I don't share your thoughts, here. Absolutely not. People shouldn't need to disable LOOC altogether or ignore you. We are not prioritizing ghosts over people actually playing the game. LOOC also does have a practical use for people to work out issues or resolve a problem, among other things. I don't care about minor chatter during downtime but this essentially all you were doing. This should be all for me unless I'm asked for anything more.
