  1. Ckey/BYOND Username: WickedCybs Position Being Applied For: (Wiki Maintainer, Lore Developer, Deputy Lore developer): Taj deputy Have you read the Lore Team Rules and Regulations wiki page?: Yes. Past Experiences/Knowledge: I wouldn't really say I have any past experience other than the bare essentials of being able to play a character when it comes to writing. I'm good at it too I'd like to think but as a creative writer in general I'm pretty bad. When it comes to being a developer, I know how to make PR's but these are generally built off of other things and I wouldn't say much of what I have done is truly original. It's just easy stuff anyone could do if they got past the initial hurdles. My efforts at spriting are nothing to write home about, as it still heavily relies on building off other stuff, so a lot of my work on that front have just been tweaks or building off of another sprite. A few of the zippo lighters, the half gas masks, the new tajara hairstyles and the Idris lunchbox are some good examples of that. For knowledge, I think I have a good grasp on Aurora's lore in general. The first thing I did before even joining the server was reading every news article available because I like to get to know a setting and every little bit of it. Examples of Past Work: The one thing I did for the lore was with Matt. We made a lore application about adding some notable social media to humanity. When it comes to contributions to the server, I have a lot of stuff put in that can be seen on github. I still plan on doing more but my computer I used to contribute a lot with broke in November. For the purposes of the application, I also wrote an expansion for the Tajara ethnicities page that focused on the mixed caste, here. This link below also has all my closed PR's. https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pulls?page=1&q=is%3Apr+author%3AWickedCybs+is%3Aclosed. Additional Comments: The other two applicants are better, more qualified picks for sure. I could only really promise that I'd try to do my best because being a deputy would include a lot of firsts for me and I'm not one hundred percent certain how I'll take it. As I won't be the big boss or anything, I've concluded it's worth a try still because what better role is there to learn how to do this stuff in. I'm not very worried about splitting my time between moderation and being a deputy. A moderator sets their own time overall and there's a ton of down time either way even if you're trying to dedicate yourself to it. So I don't really see lack of time being an issue. I have been spending less time on Aurora overall though these days, as I have been working a lot more lately and doing other things.
  2. I was a little unsure for this application until I read the short story that was in the spoiler. I have no real doubts anymore, Danse clearly understands the lore to its fullest extent and provided an excellent elaboration on why Nated had to attempt his coup no matter the odds. Hopefully you apply for deputy once this is accepted.
  3. I don't think the speed and wiki info were your biggest issues here for the arc. If anything, the speed made it far more interesting. It was just the content that made it end weaker than it began. I was genuinely interested up until the "A Federation Resolute" article started concerning me on whether this would still be the wildlands arc it appeared to be or another setpiece for the skrell. Then the "THE QUKALA’S VICTORY: BEAUCHAMP ON THE RUN!" deflated what was left of my interest entirely and as the climax there was naturally nothing more to really talk about, the aftermath only focused on the execution. If the idea was that they would "play their hand in a way unique from their previous attempts to influence the Spur" then I'm not seeing it either. Almost every skrell arc has ended up being bombastic and violent. Massive shows of force are seemingly all they ever do. The Tups were the posterchild of this and now the super ship that is the Qheles is joining them. So I don't see how this was any different. What "intimidating precedent" is there to set when Jargon can already annihilate and brainwash foreigners with no consequence? There was also good chance for the entities in the southern wildlands to finally do something... and they just didn't. It ended up another arc where the skrell just threw their weight around in another factions "area" and left. I think it should have been as much a human arc as it was a skrell one. The SMD and SPG are very cool, it could have been a perfect chance to display Jargon's written but never really shown method of dealing with things indirectly. Prop them and support them all the way, or if they must fight, join them and deal with the threat together. The other factions could have at the very least been involved. It sounds like human lore's rough draft would have provided that. The Southern Fleet Administration was obviously on a timer as the weakest and most unstable entity in the wildlands I agree, but I think it was also a mistake to eliminate them so quickly too. They were the only explicit anti-sol entity in the entire wildlands. They hadn't actually done anything yet too. It makes me concerned about the rest of the wildlands factions going forward. Are they all going to disappear in the course of one arc? The conflict in the south is seemingly concluded and will maybe bookend with reintegration unless the SMD picks a fight with the SCC and Biesel. Feels like a lot of potential lost there, especially with the NBT being nearby. I'm also beginning to really dislike seeing any mentions of trying to finally get a faction a "win" or that a faction keeps getting "L's". I was seeing this a lot when you were talking about the arc. Maybe you're joking but If that's an actual factor into decisions It's concerning to me. That's a thought process that leads to disappointing things. On the positive side, like I mentioned at the start. The speed of article releases were good. It should be maintained for an arc that has shock value like this as it would just be kind of ridiculous not hearing a very prompt response to an entire fleet of civilians getting massacred. If anything, tension may have just gone even lower if the times between articles were stretched out. The main time where I think a delay might have been a benefit would have been when the super ship was unveiled, as a case would be made that time is needed to organize and move. Basically, have it be context dependent if you really view it as a problem, but I really do not believe the pacing was the reason behind interest waning. The content itself was the reason for me personally.
  4. The Aurora NT physician uniform looks amazing and very professional compared to the NBT physician uniform, which is a recolored Aurora NT first responder from what I can see. Some pictures, this is of the Horizon NT physician and Aurora NT first responder. Then this is the NT Physician on the Aurora. Going Phys forces a coat on, though I will see if I can get a better picture of just the uniform later. I really like this and would rather it stayed.
  5. The PMCG's colour scheme has been making it pretty hard to pair up accessories and some suit-slot items for me. The baby blue doesn't have a lot of good complementary colours and it also looks washed out. Idris and Zavod pop a lot more. I don't really have much in the way of suggestion for a change though as this is not my strong point. That said, I think the current EPMC uniforms hit the right mark with their colour scheme and the professional merc feel.
  6. At the moment they both feel like relics of old lore that don't really matter much. The Luna Convention is superfluous and with no signatory except Jargon following it without some stipulation. The IAC is conceptually fine but it's pretty out of sight and doesn't really get much mention in places I'd imagine it'd be heavily involved in, like the Wildlands. Another aspect that's more of a player sided thing I suppose, is that it doesn't feel very "professional" either to me. Volunteering on a whim and treating it as a diversion probably wouldn't really happen right? I think they'd want dedicated professionals that believe in the mission.
  7. I'm not sure what you mean by "You didn't actually ban me for anything other than what you thought might happen". I did see you passively aggressively bringing up a prior argument. I promptly cut it short with the ban. Then it regressed into outright provocation on Alb's thread and now on this one. An issue here, evidenced by the fact you even initially complainted Alb now rather than when it actually happened, not to mention you would have actually tried to go through with it if the strike wasn't already expired, is that you don't understand it's a result of your behavior. Even if you were "right" it would not have changed that you argued in bad faith. As it turns out, being a very rude person is a problem. That's been the core of seemingly every incident you've been involved in. So how could you ever even post something like... You called Alb a liar, got irate over being striked and then relapsed into swearing at people. Even though you said nothing that was "accurate and true", were you hypothetically correct you would still be in this complaint due to being a dick. So my message is pretty clear. Be more considerate of others. If this ban is maintained you'll be free to appeal it when you apologize to Alb and enact actual change in how you handle what upsets you.
  8. The only coincidence was that I ended up seeing you beginning to harass Alb again. It was a definite factor behind the now permaban since your last warning is related to the same behavior you're displaying now. Swearing at people and calling them slurs will never be acceptable. I gave you a chance even after you did that to me as well, but it was with the expectation you'd do more than just not directly call someone something offensive. It was with the expectation you would treat people better.
  9. The Discord logs from December were pretty charged up, and I think that aggression also shows through on the now closed complaint post on Alb even if they've moderated their language to an extent. These are three snippets from the argument over the strike in particular. It was long, so these are only particularly charged ones chosen at random. Then, NodNodNod posted again today and it was a continuation of the strike conversation. I know it was read already, but I will post it here for the benefit of review. It's pretty self evident what they wanted to do here, I think. Passively aggressively snipe at Alberyk. There's no other reason for them to randomly quote that out of the blue, and then make a complaint about the strike now rather than back when it happened. If NodNodNod actually treated Alb with some respect I'd be more willing to believe this was something more innocent. They did end that one complaint with a pointed closing statement too.
  10. You were not banned just due to this one incident. Your behavior has been consistently terrible whether it is on the discord or on the server. Unchanged as well considering the first thing you did since posting last year was continuing your inane argument. Since the last warning I applied on you, I noticed you've also been unceasing in your passive aggression and lack of respect for other people during the time you played, which is not what I'd call an improvement. You earned the strike Alb applied due to your behavior, just like you earned this permanent ban for proving to me you are completely unchanged.
  11. I don't think this is an issue that can be solved by ahelping because there's really nothing to ahelp about often. I rarely see power-surgeons these days that try to do everything at the expense of overs and they tend to get ICly reminded if they slip up. They still often seem encouraged to do things like the GTR along with their usual duties as I mentioned earlier, unless the department is full and coordinated enough for them to be able to relax in the reception or sit tight in an OR. It all happens due to the way medical is structured and a consequence of the gameplay loop, is my perspective.
  12. Alt titles are something Aurora moved away from. Trying to establish a solid authority that's not the CMO is also something that I won't really be desired (the surgeons already aren't). Having people "pick" what they can do would lead to the issue Gem stated. Physician does feel superfluous since it's overlapped by every other role and has no real "thing" that only it does. On paper they run the GTR yet in practice practicality anyone can and will do so as well, especially in a crisis. I found medical unused to having physicians present much and the ones that did play eventually stopped or went surgeon. Which mandated helping out in the GTR by others even if they wanted to "stay" in their lane due to lack of numbers. Those were my experiences when I mained it, though I have not done much medical lately. The option I'd see as having some potential is the last one.
  13. Drawing blood is quite safe already. True to life though, people doing these procedures monitor the patient to keep things safe. As a physician, you're expected to know the general dangerous level of blood oxygenation (below 85%. this is on the wiki) and have all the ingame tools to observe how the blood draw is affecting them. The IV also beeps once the patient is under the safe level and sends that message to the chat log. Scanning them as I believe you were doing, would have also shown how the blood draw was affecting them on the readouts. In-game blood drives go without incident very often. This seems more like a case of not being aware of the mechanics as you were thinking of IRl instances instead, which can be fair enough. Now you know what to do for the next time.
  14. The sensors don't overheat at level three do slightly raise in temperature at level three now, but it's not very significant and have a fairly generous range at the moment. I'd hope any changes don't make the range too high as there's actual reason now to have someone manning the sensors instead of being able to easily handle everything alone. Navigation is great to incentivize being a team effort (the sensors console even has a greater view of the area vs the helm console) and temporary increases of the sensor range still gives enough time to note down important locations and hazards. Unrelated to that, I like the new atmos substations.
  15. The Aurora CE uniform looks very cool. I think it's more distinctive than the NBT CE set.
  16. There haven't been any objections, so I'm going to look into a revert PR once I can properly do those again. I'm just limited by my current laptop at the moment. Though I think it'd be best to do it once the Horizon is fully released.
  17. Me and Faris reviewed the relevant information. We don’t believe @MattAtlas and @Faye <3 were wrong in their judgements here. I’ll walk you through the why @Filthyfrankster. To start this off, a clarification on escalation. This is something that is also visible on the rules page as it describes when a punishment is usually applicable. I'll post the temporary ban section here for ease of reference. So in essence, a warning can result in a temporary ban. This has always been the case. Regarding Faye’s ticket and verdict. I did not see the harsh approach you spoke of. Faye did not seem to be aggressive nor did they speak out of turn. She followed the proper escalation and was just informing you, not teasing you. There’s zero mentions of a ban in the ticket as well. I’ll be posting the most pertinent details in the spoiler below. On review of Matt’s ticket. You were quite confrontational whereas Matt was just trying to walk you through the reasoning. I do understand the additional remarks hurt to see but there’s no basis to throw out its relevance solely on that and as mentioned at the start of this post, warnings are something that stay considered otherwise It’d be easy enough to stop playing for a while and let the warning expire. I’ll be posting further details in the spoiler below. In summary, the warnings are valid. They won’t be overturned. I don’t believe you were treated with any bias and I think Matt was doing you a solid by not bringing your LOOC and OOC conduct into it. I do think the staff only portion of a warning should be written more formally and will advise that. The complaint will stay open for a day or two in case there’s any further responses.
  18. Another suggestion that comes to mind to me, is that I think the Intrepid would benefit from a sleeper. These aren't too powerful and I'd say they're pretty perfect in the less equipped shuttle that is the Intrepid. There's just a stasis factor if needed (eats a lot of power, which would be a tradeoff if the Intrepid ever gets a SMES) and basic chemicals that might see use. But that's quite enough for what it does. Ideally I think bridge crew could benefit from being icly able to operate these at the least as well. On the Aurora at the moment, they don't tend to see much use outside of the diyal/stomach pump function because you already have everything you need at hand. That's cool to hear then!
  19. I wouldn't want it any lower than twenty five if a change did happen, but I don't mind thirty. The important thing is that the bridge crew aren't just pilots, that's one of their various duties. They're trusted enough to be expedition leaders, use the command programs, get a gun. Vetted enough to control the very expensive ship. Rather than the age, I'd like if bridge crew were labelled under command instead of civilian even if they aren't given any authority while on the Horizon. They're very linked to Command.
  20. Reviving this thread now that it's been more than a month. There are no changes to what I have written here, I still view it as a needless step that does not add much.
  21. That might get crowded yeah though it could work imo. I think the disclaimer at the very least is a pretty good idea though.
  22. At the moment new players see every job in Aurora and can easily switch on the fly. We handle them though because that's not allowed. Corp switching on a whim would be handled much the same I'd think. That said even if its seen as a good idea it would take a lot of effort to implement I'd think, so bit of a pipe dream.
  23. I was thinking back to the faction selection of the NBT. During the testing, I noted a few comments of confusion from people used to having every role available on the job menu. I think it may not be too intuitive to make it so you only see the jobs available to the megacorporation you have selected. So I thought, what if every job was on the menu but it has a faction tag you can change if applicable? The direct comparison will be to Bay here, so I will show they handle their menu. I put a red outline over the area in which they have players decide the faction of a character. It's a lot more simple than the press faction button, select faction, confirm faction selection we have going on. The benefit of Aurora's is it gives an informational readout on your chosen faction, though I'd think it could be possible to still retain that if this seems like a good idea at all.
  24. I'd say it'd be nice if the bridge had a fax machine by the area with the photocopier, as well as some more command consoles if possible for general use. Other than that, it would be good if the tech storage recieved new circuit boards for the helm, sensors and engine control consoles. The bridge is vulnerable to getting destroyed easy along with its equipment if an accident happens. Spares for engineering would be useful if replacements are needed.
  25. I can only really comment on their IC conduct, which I'd say is excellent. Their characters are fun to interact with and their command ones do well in the position of head staff when it comes to driving a round forward. Pretty solid.
