  4. Reporting Personnel: Oliver Roadman Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Chief Engineer Game ID: b4F-dzmU Personnel Involved: - Mia Newton, Head of Personnel : Offender - Fernando Gonzales, Chief Medical Officer : Offender -Ka'Akaix'Dhan Zo'ra, Engineering Apprentice : Victim/Witness Secondary Witnesses: -Que-Yup Xequal'Valurex, Security Officer: Executor of the warrant -Zihuku Rehiohks, Security Officer: Executor of the warrant -Daniel Carmichael, Security Officer: Attested that a vote had taken place. Witness to the execution of the warrant. Time of Incident: Real Time: (Around 6 CST 12/12/2019) Location of Incident: Medical Rafters, Medical Lobby, Arrivals Checkpoint, Command Channel. Nature of Incident: [ ] - Workplace Hazard [ ] - Accident/Injury [ ] - Destruction of Property [ X ] - Neglect of Duty [ X ] - Harassment [ ] - Assault [ ] - Misconduct [ X ] - Other ___Slander__ Overview of the Incident: The incident began shortly after the one hour mark into the shift. This was right after a radiation storm had passed marking the arrival of Gonzales. A few moments after this a brief loss of pressure occurred within the medical lobby. The cause was unknown at the time, but it was soon discovered to be a result of construction being performed in the lobby rafters. Gonzales upon learning of this demanded it's immediate removal, and followed this statement up with an unexpected threat of an incident report should I not adhere to his demand. I let him know that as Chief Engineer I had final say on all constructions, and deconstructions occurring within the station, but his preferences would be kept in mind as a decision was made. The situation needed to be investigated and the cause of the loss of pressure discovered before further work was done. Despite his insistent threats I refused to compromise the station's safety to satisfy his desire of immediate restoration of the rafters. Gonzales did not drop it, and continued to harass me over the course of the next twenty to thirty minutes repeatedly insisting that the lobby was still unfixed. In addition he kept calling for Captain level votes in an attempt to force me to remove the flooring. Mia Newton originally echoed a need for a report to be done, but eventually was swayed to vote with Gonzales demanding that I restore the rafters. I let them know of my findings in which I explained that due to an unforeseen fault in the station's structure the loss of pressure was entirely accidental. Mia Newton not only disregarded my report, but then began insisting my department, and myself were negligent, and stated quite bizarrely that she believed there to be an active terrorist on board. They both voted and insisted that I restore the rafters, and I informed them of what It would require to complete. The complete evacuation of the medbay lobby, thirty minutes, and several hypercell rated batteries. Newton, and Gonzales took this as a refusal stating why I had to make this process difficult. This is the beginning of the regrettable break down of communications amongst command. I'll admit at this time I myself was getting irritated by both Newton and Gonzales demanding I perform frankly unsafe actions for both myself, and station personnel. While gathering my gear to begin the investigation of the possible removal of the floor tiles we had received an announcement that Hivebots had appeared in the surgery wing. After ensuring my department began to prepare for the possible breaches caused by the invasion I took note of the lack of Head of Security, Warden, and Captain. I confirmed with the AI that there were no stationbounds, and determined that Security had no method to which to arm themselves. Recent Hivebot invasions have become quite a problem in recent months the scale of their attacks have raised significantly. We could not expect Security to attempt to deal with this threat with rubber bullets, and batons. I made the decision to assist opening the Armory, and began making my way to the bridge in haste. I announced over command channel my intention to take the spare, and at the time believed I also announced why I was doing it. I stopped to explain to Mia Newton, whom previously was lounging in the reporter's office as the surgery bay was being eaten, What hivebots were, Why they were a threat, and why I had retrieved the spare. At the time I took their lack of objection as abstaining to my retrieval of the ID, and proceeded to the armory to unlock the lockers. It was only later I was informed ,indirectly, that Newton, and Gonzales took great offense to this action. It ultimately turned out this was unnecessary as a Unathi with a pike had rushed into the fray and broke the beacon before it became too much of a problem. I ensured the armory weapons were returned, locked the armory, and returned the spare announcing that I did so over the command channel. After this incident I returned to the medical lobby evacuating, and locking down the area before I proceeded with my attempted repairs. Unfortunately to save materials the in between area of the rafter's floor, and medbay lobby's ceiling was breached and filled with sand. The material not apt to retain air pressure caused another loss of pressure confirming my suspicions of the fault, and the requirements to fix it now updated with several shovels to removed the excess sand. I sealed the newly made hole, ensured that medical lobby was re pressurized, then proceeded to the shuttle which had just been called. Before I could board however I was confronted by three security officers claiming that I was under arrest for Grand Theft, Gross Negligence, and Trespassing. They presented me with a paper warrant signed by Newton. I protested pointing out that an Acting Captain had to be declared before such a warrant could legitimately be authorized, but complied regardless. When the AI called for the Acting Captain vote to commence over the Command Channel Newton not only declare her support for Gonzales, who responded with confusion, but declared that I was an "Irdani corporate" terrorist declaring me to be detained immediately before being placed under investigation. Security then declared that the arrest warrant they presented was actually a search warrant, and proceeded to remove all of my belongings. I do not blame the officers for carrying out this duty as I myself was unsure as to the actual validity of the warrant. Acting Captain had not been voted for, and no vote had been documented with the AI as to call for my arrest that I know of. In general I would suspect these votes would be handled over the command channel to document the occasion, and to ensure proper communication with all involved. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: No. By time the entire situation became known to me I was already being arrested. Actions taken: This incident report. Reprimand of the apprentice, and reassignment to lighter duties. Additional Notes: I conferred with my department, and all agreed that the culprit of the loss of pressure was unintentionally. The apprentice was under the impression that the rafters were a part of the construction level, and not of medical being the only default access to that location requires the ID of engineering personnel. I could see his line of thinking at the time unsure as to the official designation of the rafters as to which department it would belong. In the future I asked him to confer with the department, and the Chief Engineer on duty before constructing in that area in the future. OOC Notes: ((The venting was caused by a bug, and once tiles are placed asteroid turf appears if they are removed.))

  6. I've said this before, and I'll say it again. The alternative titles have absolutely no definition what so ever. Station Engineer, Engine Technician, Electrician, and Maintenance Technician have the exact same requirements across the board. Even the ones one would think should have a clear cut specialization could get away with not having it the 'education' is the same the mechanics of each role are exactly the same. It falls to the individual player to determine what the title means in absence of any other definition. In this thread I've seen at least four different interpretations of the Maintenance Technician. It's the same as any other engineer It's a Engineering equivalent of a medical resident It's means they're specialized in the maintaining of the station It's a less reliable Station Engineer. If it's frequently played in a certain way that's what it means to those people, and they most likely picked it deliberately. It's not a meme it's reinforcing a character concept focusing on less responsibility because maybe they couldn't get that education, maybe they aren't as trusted because of background, maybe they aren't the smartest bulb in the closet, but they sure can repair some shit. Yet others are looking for the themes as Seeli pointed out can be invoked with the title of Engineer To build, repair, come up with solutions to unexpected problems. In my opinion it's a title worth preserving it's a recognized trope in Sci-fi settings I see no reason to part with it. Made an alt-title itself perhaps. Outright removal. No. As for looking for a job that means less responsible engineer some have already found it in the title of Maintenance Technician you may disagree, but there's a lot of that going in this thread. I'd like to say this is a bad PR not simply because I disagree with it, but because the problem it's attempting to solve I don't believe can be solved with a name replacement. The Alt-titles need to be defined clearly instead of everyone having a different interpretation. In addition removing an existing option in favor of promoting a specific one that is only subjectively better to some is to put it bluntly.. uncool.
  7. The alt titles are all meaningless. Unlike Medical which has defined pages for what each alt title does Engineering has never received the same the meaning is up to everyone's different interpretation they are all mechanically the same. They are all played the same just different specializations. Engine Tech fixes the engine. Electrician focuses on wires. In my mind a Maintenance technician is a less able Station Engineer. I would expect the Engineer to be able to do everything the tech can, and something else. If that be EVA, the engine, SMES, or actual full construction. In actual gameplay all this is again meaningless since all the alt titles do everything. Summary: Big -1. Techs maintain. Engineers maintain, and build. Different job expectations different reasons to both exist. The major reasoning for the change is the desire to be 'cooler' is purely subjective. The opinion of which if not evident by this post I vehemently disagree with.
  8. Hello was tagged by Rose to chime in and clarify a few things. To be clear I did not play, or observe this round, and cannot comment on the events only what I ICly taught Samara, and to offer my experiences into common engineering goings-on. I usually play Oliver Roadman, and taught Rosetango's Samara how to do a basic set up in Atmospherics in previous rounds. This was done with the implication that they would have to break in to complete the task as a part of setup for the engineering department. The Portable Air Pumps do not fill without having been set up in sub-level atmospherics beforehand. This in combination with the default air-line pressure being sub-par filling rooms can be painfully slow to near impossible depending on location, and correcting both takes time to allow the pressure to reach the appropriate levels. These are tasks that need to take place before, and in preparation of an emergency should it arise not during one. That being the general reason behind breaking into Atmos I would like to make it clear that breaking into Atmos to upgrade/fix/grab the dispenser as an Station Engineer has been an extremely common occurrence since I've joined Aurora. This can certainly generate IC conflict depending on the characters involved though it usually goes no further than that.
  9. I've the most experience with Spike, Hannah, and River, but their new head of staff characters are just as well thought out and developed. Cnaym's roleplay is top-notch, and in general they're helpful friendly, and just fun to interact with IC, or OOC. I really have nothing but positive things to say so it's a strong +1 from me. They are very capable of being able to hold onto a whitelist.
  10. I'd be down for this.
  11. Some of this is speculation, and it's early in the morning. Sue me. Meteors: Bubble. Carp: Hull. (Credit goes to Jan Fischer) While a hull shield will protect the station somewhat. I think meteors explode on impact. Which can get around the shield having the bubble shield which throws up a single wall x meters in every direction from the station will have them explode away from most things important. Screw Toxin's test site It's made to go boom. Location: As central to the station as possible usually the bridge specifically where the charger on the table is. It can be put in other locations, but be aware the shield only extends 100 meters, and it is possible for it to (Bubble) to extend off map, and do nothing. Radius: Max, or near max the station is wider than it is tall, and I haven't done the math on the best possible position which is probably somewhere east of the bridge. Strength: At least 2. Hull at max radius won't get there, but if you set it to one the shield won't come up. This does present a problem since it tries to strength the shield before it recharges sections so any part of the shield that fails stays down until the generator is reset. Charge rate: 0.1. Yeah Minimum all around on shields that size. The limiting factor in shield generation is the capacitor, it can only suck up so much power and it's REALLY easy to hit that cap. A hull Shield barely has enough power to keep itself sustained let alone charge, and a bubble shield can get up to 3 before running into the same problem. Power is first diverted to maintaining the shield, and when that's 90% of the power it can get the other 10 goes to making the shield stronger which might be a fraction of what it actually needs, and that's at the lowest charge rate. And no. Adding more capacitors doesn't work. We've tried it will only pull power from one.
  12. That round featured an amazing amount of stupid all around to be honest, but (and disclaimer I didn't witness everything involved between Sec, and the ninja that round) from what I saw the round started off with Gainsboro, and the HoS validing the antag simply because they were there. While ICly it might've made sense, OOCly it felt like a dick move all around not to mention the fact you opened fired on said antag, and they didn't respond AT ALL from what I saw leading me to believe they were afk for most of the assault up until halfway of their suit being removed. I was in the round as CE, and I didn't encounter him until the end when he was killed from the suit exploding along with nearly 4 others, but it certainly sounded like self-antagging from what was coming through from command. It was especially hypocritical I might add to arrest the first ninja who had the suit for contraband only for yourself to turn around, and wear it apparently resisting all attempts to relieve you of it. There wasn't much to explain there. I don't see how as a Security officer you can determined Science was misusing an item given to them with orders from the captain, or why as a Security officer you thought you had the authority over the RD about how an unidentified, and unresearched item should be used, in their own damned department no less. I'd also like to draw attention to this http://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=111&p=68634#p68634 Specifically I think you got lucky with just a warning.

... Might as well just spawn his corpse at disposals from the start.
  14. ROUND TWO: FIGHT! @DatBerry Nope. I never saw the vampire flashing everyone, or actively being mistreated in anyway. The borg voiced his concerns, and I answered when I arrived I saw enough to determine that he was telling the truth. Or can you think of another conclusion I should have come to when I walk in to see the Warden with her baton out, The Chaplain next to displaced tank of water, and a Doctor demanding to get in because 'What they were doing isn't right.' Some of it does come down to character quirks. Oliver as a character has absolutely no use in religions, or by extension chaplains. He has poor views of religion, and places no trust in the profession at all. Add into the fact your character seemed like a nut talking about visions, and level something odd demons inside people, so he saw the 'cure' people kept trying to explain to him as what they were doing as nothing more than an a crazy excuse to cause harm to this prisoner for being stupid in his own right. Try drinking an entire bottle of mouthwash. My gut reaction is to not do that, and I gag when I even accidently drink a little. Now imagine if someone forced you to drink the entire bottle, of that liquid, or any liquid you don't want to drink. It's fucking distressing. That's NOT just abuse my baton slipped, or using the baton instead of a flash being rough, or rude. That's abuse. Tying someone down to a chair, and forcing them to drink something from my perspective is NOT just abuse, and I jumped to torture as the word I could think of to best describe it. Her doing that was not in the warden's job description. I might have been a bit too harsh with that label, but even you said 'at worst it could be abuse of prisoners, or mistreatment' Which is exactly what I charged her with. Under that you spend X amount of minutes in the brig, and, or demotion to cadet which is all I was trying to do, and spent the near entirety of my round trying to enforce.I probably should've slapped the Chaplain on the wrist for it too, but Snyder was yelling so loudly about it all my focus was on getting her situation sorted before anything else. That's why I picked up the spare. I saw a warden misconducting themselves, and as a member of command entrusted with operations of the station I stepped in. When at the end of the shift CCIA asks why Security executed three prisoners, Medical spread a super virus, Cargo spent all their points on hats, and ask why command knew about this, and did nothing. "Not my department, Not my problem" Isn't going to hold up. If there was a Head of Security: Not my problem When there was a Captain I hoped it was: Not my problem If there was even a Head of Personnel: Not my problem. There wasn't. There was a CMO, and a CE.
  15. That excerpt was from me asking Snyder for the story. I fail to see how it's my fault they didn't divulge it, or why you think I can act on info I don't have. As I said in my little example. I had no belief that you would tell the truth as you perceived it. YOU didn't think it was torture, and unfortunately others disagreed including myself. Just because you didn't 'deem' it torture doesn't mean others didn't 'deem' it not to be either. Yeah. I did make up my mind on the matter after hearing Snyder explain. I made a different decision than you did, and you didn't like it. I don't really see how Listen to X can be really taken as Vague. It means listen to X. Then I told you what the captain told me. You didn't like what I had to say. So you demanded it be in writing for some odd reason. Damn. How dare I play a character fed up with being insulted at for the last hour. People have patience. His wore thin. I left them out because. I fail to see how the arrest Warrant was rendered invalid by the lack of demotion papers? Do I need to demote before I arrest? Here. Let me check my logs again, and yeah. No I never said arrest her over comms. I called Security to the meeting room, and that was damn well it. You've either muddled up the facts, or are lying outright. Either way. I'm pretty much done with this conversation. I remained as respectful as I suspect anyone can be when a supposed Security professional is screaming about how I'm an idiot, and torturing the random beast-man is K. Yeah. Okay. I got Acting Captain for the sole purpose of dealing with the misconduct I precieved in the warden, and that was literally it. I don't know where you got the Idea I wanted to take over the Brig, or be HoS if I wanted to do that I'd have made another character. In the future If you see Oliver having to pick up Acting Captaincy with the rest of command's permission you'll brig him for exceeding his authority? Right. Okay nice metagrudging there. Your assuming it was fun for me to have to listen to Snyder's bitching the entire time while Fenrir stood behind her saying everything was Oliver's fault, and he had no idea what was going on, and that Sec knew everything, and did nothing wrong. They were always right. ALWAYS RIGHT. I AM THE LAW. No. That's what was wrong with your security play, and that's the attitude I perceived the entire time, and that's why there's a complaint. I wanted it to be kept IC, but that's not possible because antags so here we are. You didn't like what I had to say. So you took it to the Captain You didn't like what the Captain had to say. So you took it to IAA. Then when the IAA told you you both were suspended. You wanted to wait for CCIA to personally come down, and hear you out. Nothing else mattered. No one was RIGHT until they agreed with you. I'm done with this conversation until Admins poke it. I don't see you as a reasonable person right now, and I'm not going to continue this bullshit back, and forth between our dissenting opinions for several more posts before an Fourm Mod locks it. I've said my piece, and unless asked to write again. That's it.
  16. *Cracks fingers* LET'S DO THIS! Now let me stop you right there because something should be sorted out because http://prntscr.com/cco7up I was told you called for Medical, but the Chaplain showed up instead? The only medical involvement I know of is when Astor who was yelling about how what you were doing wasn't right, and demanded to be let in which he wasn't until I arrived, and Legatus opened up the door for me without me saying a word. I called Sec out for being incompetent for allowing it to continue, and that was it. The only 'order' I gave was 'Doctor, Scan them', and 'Open this door' when the doctor wanted to get out. That's it. In fact I gave absolutely no orders to anyone, but the borg, and that was only to open the door. I then asked the CMO if they would mind if I took on Acting Captaincy quoting the torture that happened on the brig, and they agreed, Snyder on the other hand was laying it on thick with the profanities in my general direction. So I wrote a whole post, and then lost it so here's a quick, and dirty version. So I took Acting Captain, and ordered Snyder arrested for Mistreatment of prisoners. Legatus performed the arrest, and cuffed her. Yes. She was compliant, but given her outbursts, the fact that she was armed. Legatus thought she was going to pull a gun, and blast him into scrap, and it was hard for me not to see that happening. So Yeah. I was okay with her getting cuffed. When Fenrir said it was improper because she complied i uncuffed her myself. So now I give Snyder a chance to tell me her story at which point she doesn't not only confirm she tortured the guy she spent the entire time explaining to me Why it was okay for her to do this. Uh.. No It's still not okay, and yes your still in trouble. When asked why I didn't let them explain sooner, and why didn't I just ask, and I quote http://prntscr.com/ccpax7 YES! Of course. Why didn't I ask Security if they were performing highly illegal actions HOW SILLY OF ME! "Hello Sir, are you robbing this bank? No? Alright then Good citizen be on your way. Oh don't forget your AK" Really? So then Fenrir tries to explain how I shouldn't let my perceptions about the department color the individual members, and how they are all different with no -. As hes saying this Synder starts yelling how Engineering is always causing trouble for Sec so.. Okay? Got it. I continue my course of action to demote Snyder as i219 suggests the captain arrives. Yay. I can get out of this shithole of a situation, and go back to doing other things. Oh. Wait. Captain wants me to stay as Acting Captain. Right Fine. "Hey Sec won't listen to me at all. Your going to have to tell them" http://prntscr.com/ccpcc6 Done. So I continue to try to demote Snyder http://prntscr.com/ccpcpm Writing? Uh.. What? Since when do you have to have that to listen? Uh.. What? http://prntscr.com/ccpdlo You said nothing. You walked in, and tabled me, and in any case I didn't have a chance to respond since I was talking to the Captain. Edit: Derp. You did say something as Berry pointed out I didn't even notice it when reviewing logs. In game I wasn't really paying attention to anything other than what the captain was saying in the sea of text, and when I looked up I saw Fenrir run in at mach 10, and grab me Though I will admit. Yes at this point Oliver was pissed, and entered the Head of Securities office solely to piss of Security since he thought they knew he was still Acting Captain, as captain informed him they shouldn't be a problem.I also did order Snyder's arrest for tearing up her demotion papers at which point Fenrir asked for a warrant. Edit: Derp. You did say something as Berry pointed out I didn't even notice it when reviewing logs. In game I wasn't really paying attention to anything other than what the captain was saying in the sea of text, and when I looked up I saw Fenrir run in from two rooms away, and grab me http://prntscr.com/ccpegf Done! There you go! Now can you please stop-. Oh. http://prntscr.com/ccpety I guess not since you said this to other officers trying to bring in Snyder with the warrant I just handed you. Prematurely.. Right. Yes as you were leaving I said arrest her because at the time I had no idea an IAA had arrived I didn't 'yell' it over comms I said it in person of you, Snyder, and two other officers once I realized what was going on I ordered Security to stop, and calm down. I believed I was acting quite calm, and I tried to remain as unbiased as I could despite Snyder yelling profanities at me like a child the entire time. I didn't issue orders, and find justification. I found justification. Realized I had no authority. Got said Authority, and then issued orders. Never tried to order Sec around as CE never tried to take over brig operations, and respect is a two way street. I wanted Snyder demote as she continued to call me a fuckhead the entire time. The CAPTAIN wanted her suspended, and I talked him out of it. Oliver doesn't know 100% Sec procedure, and anything Fenrir asked for in regards to paperwork or procedure Oliver provided as best he could. I saw Security acting improperly as a member of COMMAND who's job it was to oversee the station as a whole I couldn't stand by, and let it continue. It was my job to step in. No ones perfect, and you did try to contact me in regards to this, but when you did for me it was 1am, and I had quite enough of a headache from this situation already with the admin SNAFU regarding the whole where it should be in the first place. You offered to talk to me over Discord which I'm still willing to do, but again It was 1am. I was trying to Enjoy the game. Enjoy the Game! ENJOY THE GAME! At 1am closing out my day with some sweet tator extended. Talking about this was the last thing I wanted to do.
  17. BYOND Key: Brayce Game ID:bwt1Tf Player Byond Key: Abendorth, RoderickGrey Staff involved: None that I contacted Reason for complaint: I originally made this IR complaint against both characters http://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=90&p=67982 It was thrown out due to the prisoner in question happened to be a vampire. So now we move onto a player complaint while I'd prefer to stay IC I still think the sec play from both players was pretty poor. Slightly Edited IR report Incoming! The incident began when I heard Legatus ask over communications who should he talk to about Security allowing the Chaplain to force water down someone's throat. I then shortly after heard this from the Warden Nia Snyder "It's proving to be an effective method." I quickly made my way over to Security, and I saw all I needed to confirm the validity of Lagatus's concerns. Nia Synder played by Abendroth was allowing, and it was claimed, participated in the torture of a prisoner tied to the chair by the Chaplain. The prisoner in question was revealed to eventually be the vamprie Kanda Ratree who as far as I could tell was a new player. When I arrived Surgeon Astor Shaner played by Candiandollar was already there wanting to get to the prisoner to administer treatment of which he was being denied by Snyder, and Fenrir played by RoderickGrey who was also present, and overseeing the act. At my order Legatus let us in, and I asked Shaner to tend to the Prisoner. I was distracted shortly afterwards, and by time I had returned the prisoner had jumped down disposals. Snyder claimed that I was at fault, and I should never have let Shaner in there. Quote 'do not get in the way of Security work. You may be a head, but you're still an Engineer.' Security work in this case torturing a antag. Shortly afterwards with the permission of the Chief Medical Officer I took on Acting Captaincy. Snyder pretty much brushed this off being frankly childish in her continued insults direct at me, and Engineering in general. I charged her with Mistreatment of a Prisoner, and ordered her arrested. She was cuffed due to the Borg's belief that Snyder was unstable and would fire upon him with an E-gun. Once in processing she explained the reason of her actions leading up to the time I intervened. Which involved them responding, and finding Ratree chewing on a corpse. After a fight they subdued her, and asked for Medical to come to the brig. The Chaplain showed up wanting to help, and they said why since Ratree was acting unnaturally afraid of the Chaplain. At which point the Chaplain started bonking Ratree on the head with a nullrod, and forcing holy water down their throat. I saw no reason why Security would allow it to continue as it did there was literally no reason if they thought it was a new organism that's Medical, or Science they jumped straight to vampire after seeing Ratree drink blood. ICly Oliver has no use for the supernatural, mystical, or any spooky/magical antag always explaining it of with technology he thought Snyder had lost it, and the way she was acting only reinforced that belief. I decided the charges would stick, but she had served time telling her story so I told her i would in addition to time served be demoting her to cadet since I couldn't trust her to act professionally as a Warden. At this time Captain Vincent LeChiffre played by UnknownMurder arrived, and Snyder, and Fenrir proceeded to ignore any of my calls up to that point informing me to 'go back to your Engineering'. I informed Captain LeChiffre of the current events, and he asked me to continue in my capacity as Acting Captain. I informed him of my intentions to demote Snyder, and he agreed furthering wanting her to be suspended. I let him know Security had no intention of listening to me, and he made an announcement for Security should listen to me. At this time I went to the Head of Securities office to get the paperwork requested in order. Fenrir decided, despite me continuing in my capacity as Acting Captain, and informing him of such that I was trespassing, and tabled me followed by holding me in a neck grab. He claimed until he saw I was still Acting Captain in writing he didn't have to listen, and Captain LeChiffre had to come down personally to see me released. When later the paperwork was filed I presented it to Snyder to inform her of the decision. She refused to comply with the order, and tore up the copy of demotion papers. I ordered her arrested yet again for neglect of duty since I had no idea what refusing to be demoted fell under. Fenrir asked for a warrent which was provided, and then flatly refused to follow orders in addition to threatening other officers with detainment if they tried to follow the order to detain them. At this time IAA McBell played by SierraKomodo arrived, and Fenrir, and Snyder refused to comply with arrests until he had fully investigated the matter. As we moved to the office other security officers tried to arrest Fenrir, and Snyder but Fenrir disarmed them, and me and McBell told the officers to stand down for the time being .I gave my statement to Agent Bell, and left to help deal with a blob which showed up. Later I was informed that Central Command had ordered the suspension of both Fenrir, and Snyder pending an investigation into the matter. LeChiffre bailed on me, but had the suspension forms completed. Again once confronted by the order for suspension, and confirmation from Agent McBell that they had been filed properly both Snyder, and Fenrir refused to comply, quoting my 'Engineering' bias, and lack of the 'right' evidence as reasons why the order was invalid despite it coming from Captain LeChiffre. Fenrir further elaborated that Security had better not come to arrest them lest his bag become full of their weapons. Both Fenrir, and Snyder refused to recognize the chain of command throughout the shift always believing themselves to be in the 'right' or else claiming any arrest on them was illegal regardless of the arguments presented, or procedures followed. They basically holed up in the IAA's office ignoring everyone waiting for their personal CCIA lawyer to come down and exonerate them of all liability for their actions. I then shortly after heard this from the Warden Nia Snyder "It's proving to be an effective method." I quickly made my way over to Security, and I saw all I needed to confirm the validity of Lagatus's concerns. Nia Synder was allowing, and has been claimed participated in the torture of one of her charges by the chaplain. When I arrived Surgeon Astor Shaner was already there wanting to get to the Prisoner to administer treatment of which he was being Denied by Snyder, and Fenrir who was also present, and overseeing the act. You may be a head, but you're still an Engineer.' Security work in this case torturing a prisoner. Shortly afterwards with the permission of the Chief Medical Officer I took on Acting Captaincy. Snyder continued her display of unprofessional conduct by continuing to insult myself, and my department before I arrived at the brig for a second time. I charged her with i219 Mistreatment of a Prisoner, and ordered her arrested. Once in processing she explained the reason of her actions leading up to the time I intervened. Lacking any real reason for allowing the eccentric at best unstable at worst Chaplain access to a prisoner, and then authorizing the prisoner's torture I informed her of my decision to demote her to cadet as per applicable punishment under i219. At this time Captain Vincent LeChiffre arrived, and Snyder, and Fenrir proceeded to ignore the proceedings informing me to 'go back to your Engineering'. I informed Captain LeChiffre of the current events, and he asked me to continue in my capacity as Acting Captain. I informed him of my intentions to demote Snyder, and he agreed furthering wanting her to be suspended. I let him know Security had no intention of listening to me, and he made an announcement to the effect Security should listen to me. At this time I went to the Head of Securities office to get the paperwork requested in order. Fenrir decided, despite me continuing in my capacity as Acting Captain, and informing him of such that I was trespassing, and physically assaulted me. Grabbing me, and slamming me into a table then pinning me down to the ground. I ordered her arrested yet again for neglect of duty though looking back i111 might have been more applicable. Fenrir asked for a warrent which was provided, and then flatly refused to follow orders in addition to threatening other officers with detainment if they tried to follow orders. At this time IAA McBell arrived, and Fenrir, and Snyder refused to comply with arrests until he had fully investigated the matter. I gave my statement to Agent Bell, and left to help deal with a Biohazard which had appeared. Later I was informed that Central Command had ordered the suspension of both Fenrir, and Snyder pending an investigation into the matter. LeChiffre had unfortunately returned to cryo, but had the forms completed. Again once confronted by the order for suspension, and confirmation from Agent McBell that they had been filed both Snyder, and Fenrir refused to comply, quoting my 'Engineering' bias, and lack of the 'right' evidence as reasons why the order was invalid despite it coming from Captain LeChiffre. I find it appalling that these two openly ignored the system of regulations they are hired to enforce, and then to attempt to use that system as a means of escaping punishment for their actions. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or IAA? 19. I for one am strongly opposed to this. It's adding another step to the 'getting ready' phase of the game with the added bonus of having to tediously change our jumpsuits, and grab a few token items before jumping on the shuttle ignoring everyone around us because If we aren't quick our character will be summarily deleted. The time frame Arrow suggested I feel doesn't allow for any of that communication between co-workers at shift-start this is suppose to encourage. You grab you shit, and go as soon as you can to do what you joined to do. It's not much of an issue with the little time given, but what about Borgs, and AI, and Off-station Antags? Could a wizard jump into the station, and threaten security before they could get at their gear? Malf merrily has time to screw some things up before crew can funnel in through the one or two exits from arrivals? Science/Chemistry/Engineering Borg start stuff before crew even boards. This is in addition to the Ghetto ERT, or the "The station is dying can't tell anyone here on the Odin they'll just laugh at me. 'Everything is fine NO FAX HERE'" Assuming comms stay. In short. I'm seeing this screwing with a lot of things that don't need screwing with, and getting little in return. Immersion is great, but this is a game. I for one am happy to give up the immersion of having to Change cloths/Get my stuff/drive my car/bus/space shuttle to work in exchange for the anti-frustration feature of the game assuming that I do that enough in real life, and I'll be happy to have it all done for me, and conveniently place me where I'm suppose to be with the stuff I'm suppose to have.
  20. I feel like stress is bad, and having no purpose is stressful. My purpose should thus be to figure out what is going on in my current situation. I can worry about everything else after I make sure i'm not going to get shot. I have a gun after all. Actions Hit the On button on the flashlight, and take the time to examine myself my surroundings, and what are now my items. Make sure the water is actually water then drink.
  21. Posting streak due to boredom! Anyway it sounds cool, but I'm curious about it's area of effect, and fixability as it were. Is this like the powernet, or T-Comms shutting down where Engineering's course of action is "Meh. Wait it out", or is it something that the atmo techs can fix.
  22. There was nothing going on in the command channel. I Just added that to embellish the sillynes to those who couldn't hear command.

    Shadowrun

I've been itching for a bit of shadowrun for a while, and it is indeed how I envision some of the backworkings of our own corporate run Galaxy. I'd be super interested in this if the OP is still thinking about it, but some of that interest comes down to which version we're playing.
  24. BYOND Key: Brayce Staff BYOND Key: Garnascus Reason for complaint: Perceived misuse of Admin powers. Evidence/logs/etc: I don't have logs of the events leading up to it, but bad shit happened, and I did a stupid, and ended up dead as a result. My issue begins with the events after my death. I don't have logs for this part as SS13 crashes if chrome is open, and I receive a Staff PM. I got dead. I was raging in D-chat when Garnascus came in, and asked if I wanted to be a construct. I was mad after getting exploded and I don't like dying, or killing others If I can help it so I said no. Then I scroll over to see my body disappeared, and I soon see the reason why. The body got turned into a construct. Which couldn't of happened since there was no ghost in it except.. there was? I asked dead chat was told cultists could do that normally, but I had some doubts so I ahelped it. http://prntscr.com/bql1rl And got http://prntscr.com/bql2a5 The rest of the conversation. http://prntscr.com/bql31i http://prntscr.com/bql471 http://prntscr.com/bql4li http://prntscr.com/bql4vf I then waited a while to see if anyone else would respond, but they didn't. That being said it was a hectic round people were killing and dying left, and right so many people might've been ahelping with other issues. I talked to Serveris6 about it after ahelping again requesting someone other than Garnascus respond, but after a few messages he asked me to hold on for a moment, and didn't answer back for the rest of the round. Feeling like my options in discussing it with staff then, and there have run out I'm making this complaint. My question revolves around my feeling that Garn misused his admin abilities to bus another ghost into my corpse to further his own Antagonist goals, and denying me the option, and possibility however slim to reenter the round as that character as a non-antag. Is this usage of admin abilities typically allowed to further antagonist actions they themselves are personally perpetrating upon the crew? I don't know, and couldn't get a concrete answer from any of the staff online. Additional remarks:I have a personal distaste for Garn's style of play when antaging, and while I might not agree with that style. It is no less valid within the rules than the style I try to follow. That has unfortunately colored my perception of him, and in turn this complaint. For that, and the salt I extrude when dead, I apologize.
  25. Hello, Player of Oliver Roadman here the CE for that round. I joined after start to hear that we had a visitor, and he was being watched. Well on my way back from someone venting themselves in cargo the first thing I see the wizard do is jack my Headset. I tell Security, and leave it to them being it's their territory, and I have a breach to fix. Later on the wizard popped back in said a quick word returned my headset, after all I think he had the captain's at this point, and poofed away before I could really say anything. It was pretty much a lost cause no one could keep up with the wizard who kept jumping around doing stuff until a new AI got cycled in. Soon after the AI started to track the wizard he EMP bombed it. The AI fixed itself the first time, and it got EMP bombed again. We fixed it a second time before the wizard jumped in carded it, and jumped out before I knew what in the hell was going on. The last time I saw the wizard, and the most interaction I got from him. was he popped in used Subjugate, and ordered me to drag the nuke into escape before jumping out again. I considered following the command since it said I was completely overwhelmed, but since the spell seemed to give me jelly legs, and the inability to move for five minutes I reasoned it wasn't a suggestionesque spell as it was trying to be used. That's all I really remember happening the wizard jumped around, and was causing a massive headache to command, and security.
