Player complaint - Icedcabbage, Liam Dozz
Desven replied to Desven's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Oh, okay. Just wondering. If I recall correctly around two months ago there was a PR to make it even more lethal, and thus far I have never been able to save somebody that takes a trip down. I only survived because I was ling. -
Player complaint - Icedcabbage, Liam Dozz

I have a question, is shoving people to disposals during a fight allowed? I understand that he was antag, and I'm not upset that he reacted, rather, I think it's excessive to use disposals in an encounter. -
So this is the only thing that prevents me from letting Runtime walk around the lobby, or the reason why Ian dies on me so often. Airlocks just obliterate pets right now and you have to be very careful when there's an open door and they're walking around. Humans don't take damage if ak airlock closes right on their nose, so I see no reason why pets should.

I like this list, really. Although I don't know about the break rooms. I like them, and they often go unused, but I'm at least very happy with medical's.

Desven learrrrns to rrrrrroll his rrrrrrs
Desven replied to Desven's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Some DLC for my app: How does religion fit in Zhranzda's life?: He is a firm believer in S'rendarr and Messa. Greywolf and I wondered about education of Njarir during the interwar period, and I thought that it would be feasible if it was private religious schooling, probably with dubious validity because of the small size of the alumni and the persecution of Njarir, and eventually he would have to prove his credentials again as a citizen of the NKA. Besides the education aspect, the family deaths would increase their faith in Messa, and his father and brothers would be seen as enjoying the afterlife in Messa's forever. Zhranzda would also have had a traditional S'rendal'Mati wedding, and I expect Zhranzda to wear his wrap in station to symbolize his marriage. What does Zhranzda think about the DPRA and the PRA?: I think it's obvious that, because of his presence in Dymtri, he would hold a grudge against the PRA, even if the differences with the DPRA and Al'mariism are greater. Suffice is to say, however, that he agrees with the NKA's position that the republics are founded in genocide, and the struggles of his childhood, mainly, are empirical evidence for him. I think he has little interest in conflict with other Tajara he sees, although he would hold strong, traditional beliefs about what each race should do. Is Zhranzda a conservative royalist?: I'd say yes, because of what I explained about his father-in-law. Although I'd think that his own father, while alive, would be more interested in absolute royalism, Zhranzda is conscious enough to know old-school royalism isn't feasible in the current situation. I don't think Zhranzda has ever been in serfdom, but I do think the serfs they had with their land near Kaltir would make him more conscious about workers and, while not sympathizing with hadiism at all, he would understand their need for basic rights. I'm thinking more about his finer details. While I would like Zhranzda to be a bit more like Doctor Zhivago (the setting fits), I already have a writer-doctor. I think he's mostly worried about helping to provide his family in this new world, as well as the hope that Adhomai will one day be stable enough for his return. I might add more details later when I'm on my PC, as formatting on phone is really hard. -
A Tajara application BYOND Key: Desven Character Names: Species you are applying to play: Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Njarir'Akhran cream Tajara Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I've been interested in Tajara politics for a while, although nothing too major. For the most part, I simply learned how to differentiate Zhans and the main three factions, which greatly improved my RPing with Tajara players. It was, however, a background curiosity and did not bother to read the lore, learning purely from IC interactions and really minor OOC questions. Despite that, plenty of my OOC friends hold Tajara whitelists, and I was recently encouraged to write one myself, after making some remarks regarding their aesthetics, as well as having some discussions about my lore understanding. What I particularly like about Tajara is their lore, and that they don't fall into the problem I greatly have with sci-fi as a whole, where planets and cultures are reduced to gimmicks and homogenized. Adhomai feels like a real place because it has great regional differences, as well as a struggle between local factions. I was honestly impressed to see the wiki into detail about sports and instruments, which is, imo, an area where human lore is lacking. There has clearly been a lot of care crafting the narrative of Tajara, and I wish to join the playerbase. Plus cats are really cute. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: I'll be honest and say that Tajara are probably the least alien-like of all the species, perhaps even less alien than Unathi. However, the aesthetic, politics and culture as a whole have made them more unique, and while it's not exactly anything foreign to us humans (social revolutions, war, mass migration, etc) they do add a huge element that feels less sci-fi and more historical drama. Also, the race divided society, while it's not strange to us irl either, is not something humans greatly deal with in the 25th century, while Tajara do still struggle with, and each racial group (despite their faction) might hold prejudices against others because of the race division of Adhomai. In short, I think it provides an interesting scenario for interactions with different species, as well as with different kinds of Tajara. Character Name: Zhranzda Rajii'rthaamrrdar Please provide a short backstory for this character: Born shortly after the D'as'ral massacre, Zhranzda is the youngest son of a noble family. His childhood would be affected immensely by the changing political climate of Adhomai. Forced to remain hidden for survival many years, the Rajii'rthaamrrdar family would find most of their properties lost, as well as the lives of their other sons. The eldest because of the First revolution, dying in battle, and the one in the middle because their new precarious life would not be able to cover the treatment for Dornskhy. Zhranzda grew up with his two sisters, the blurry memories of his Dornskhy brother and the legends told about his Alyad'almalik brother. The Rajii'rthaamrrdar family would find relative peace in Dymtris. Although encouraged by his parents to join the loyalist forces, Zhranzda would decide to embrace medicine and begin his practice in the late interwar period. This would later be disturbed by the Second Revolution. Zhranzda would subscribe to the support of the New Kingdom of Adhomai, serving as a doctor aiding the forces of the Dymtris line. This would wear him intensely and would prove to be where he spent most of his medical career, until 2458 when the collapse of the line was imminent and he, alongside his mother and sisters, would retreat to a village closer to Kaltir. Their devotion of S'rendarr and Messa, as well as a purchase of land made by his two brothers-in-law, would be how the family would sustain itself for the following years. As a decision to join lands, Zhranzda would marry a noblewoman in similar conditions to his family, and his doubts between conservative and absolute monarchism would dissipate because of the conservative ideals of his father-in-law, who is a great supporter of Nanotrasen. Despite the newfound peace with the Armistice, two events would encourage Zhranzda and his in-laws to leave Adhomai: the death of his own mother and the death of the king. Now his in-law family established with a thriving bakery in Little Adhomai, he joins the Aurora as a surgeon. What do you like about this character?: I admit I like royalist characters and while I'll likely make a PRA or DPRA one at some point, I find interesting the minor nobility striving to survive in a world that rejects them. I also like that Zhranzda greatly values his family and that he's particularly close to his in-laws, which is something I have not explored with any of other characters before, as most of them are soft-exiled or too distant with their own kin. I think Zhranzda would avoid conflict and try to distant himself from the events of what occurred in Adhomai too, and I would like to expand on his family lore such as his two brothers. How would you rate your role-playing ability?: Feeling like a 6 today. Notes: ty GreyWolf, Ramke and SonicGetsNuked for encouraging me, and I hope Kaizr gets their app so we can both be cats together.

CourierBravo/BejewledPot's Command Whitelist
Desven replied to CourierBravo's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Bejeweled is a lovely person ICly and OOCly, and honestly they've surprised me a few times with their characters. While they're often somehwat shy, they do have very defined unique personalities and wouldn't have guessed it's the same player behind them. I think Hannah has proven herself be really useful at deadpop and would definitely like to see her in the big seat. Also, I miss your Sec characters. You should make a HOS if you get the trial. +1 -
[Accepted]Desven chirps in choir!
Desven replied to Desven's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I would like to see more about specific nymphs and generally making some concepts less alien for the playerbase, I think this is what likely makes many of us to find Dionae unappealing. I think the weakest is the forms divisions, because the category right next to the cyclops is too broad imo. I think it would make sense if it was less about the number of nymphs and more about the shape/functions they take, kind of like how proteins work in our body to create all kinds of wacky stuff. -
[Accepted]Desven chirps in choir!
Desven replied to Desven's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Thank you! I've expanded and tested some of the things I raise here at the discord, so I think I can give a proper response to all 1. As I've said, I'm thinking more about two nymphs at the head that are immobile and don't separate from each other, basically deeply bonded. They're probably over 500 years old, I still have yet to think about that one point in particular, but what I'm certain is that they both have experienced the whole war with the Vaurcae. I'm still pitching names for them, but one of them is 'silent' while the other is the one that does the talking for the whole gestalt. I like to think that now, after communication has been made possible and relations between the Zo'ra and the Dionae are better, there are Dionae that walk around freely and probably even service some of the Unbound, much of like how the Aurora looks like now. Given this, they've not only had the experience of treating wounded Vaurcae before reaching Biesel, but also what could be considered new, 'professional' experience on the subject. Despite the age, I think the Gestalt is new. The Head (as I'm calling it from now on at the app) has decided to move on and teach other Dionae about medicine, regarded as experienced professors in the subject. I mentioned on the Discord that I think of my Dionae as a hospital hierarchy, and while the whole Dionae is the hospital director on board, the Head is the hospital director of themselves, with some limbs being experienced in human and Skrell medicine and others (haven't decided if the arms or the legs) are really young and basically interns, learning with practice too. 2. The silent part of the Head is more weary, but the outspoken part is welcoming and so are the rest of the nymphs, which would have a different background and have grown with other species. Despite of this, however, I think the gestalt as a whole would be somewhat awkward with humans at first, and especially with Tajara, which they would have really experience with (I think the others, but the 'intern' nymphs, are immigrants too). So while the outspoken part of the head does the soothing for the silent part, it may also be, curiously, the only other nymph that would feel uncomfortable with other species. 3. I've mentioned a theme of forgiveness because I think they have truly forgiven the Vaurcae, and they think about Vaurcae as a species achieving a similar goal through different means. The Hive is a Cluster, in their conception of Vaurcae, and they are probably the only other species that truly understands cooperation as much as Dionae do. I also mentioned at the Discord that my Dionae really cares about rythm, especially the head probably finding human languages bleak, and they enjoy the music that the Vaurca antennae do when communicating via the Hivenet. While they will never understand the language, they do understand that the rythm of the antennae means speech. Also, I plan of using one of the new bug heads, and eventually making a custom item with one of the concept art Sleepy showed me regarding the Titan Prime Dionae. I think this mimicry is not only the way the Head probably managed to survive for long, but also now a sign of respect for the species. 4. I doubt the Head has, and honestly I wonder if it would even be possible for Dionae to drink Vaurca blood? Vaurcae seem to operate on a whole other level, they're almost machine like, and even with unbound I'm not sure if they could learn experiences. If it is possible, then I do think they've drank Vaurca blood to learn about their culture and organization. But the ones that had probably consumed more blood would be the Skrellian Dionae, and this to learn in part about medicine. I still need to think more about this part of the cyclops, but over all I'd say they're mostly cautious about the blood consumption, especially under the Head's orders. 5. I think I've shown a bit of this in all of these questions, so sorry if I sound repetitive, but suffice is to say that the Head is really scarred, and the silent nymph is the one that bears the trauma the most. It has probably seen more of the radical tactics Vaurcae would deploy to exterminate the Dionae, and as I've mentioned it would have a harder time to have forgiven them, but despite this it might serve with their function as a psychiatrist; willing to listen and find a way to resolve emotional conflicts. As I mentioned in my OP, they would, after all, perform this type of therapy among other Dionae, since the psychological wearing of the war would be a factor that could've diminished their chances of survival. But more in general, I think Oath is really cautious when approaching others, sometimes even silent and a very good listener, as well as a huge pacifist and against all kinds of confrontation, even verbal. -

Octavian Moroz, your potential HoS
Desven replied to Tacaemarr's topic in Character and Concept Feedback
I'd say most of my interactions with this character have been negative. Most of it has occurred with my HOP, who ICly has no issues with Moroz's actions, but the interaction with my CMO (who has zero tolerance for insubordination) left me with very poor perception of Octavian. As Campin said, I think he oversteps his bounds way too often. My first interaction with him was with my HOP when, about 10 minutes into the round, Moroz went to my office and proposed himself as interim. While this might seem as a neat idea, I really had little justification to do so, especially because the round was really lowpop and we remained green the whole time (so even later on I had little reason to do so, especially when you were the only officer for the most part and served better at your position). Regardless of this, I RPed with you, and while it's true that the interview had to be interrupted multiple times, I've learned very little about him other than his desire to become a head, which is an OOC goal you have. I tried to learn more about Octavian ICly, despite everything I've mentioned, and even interviewed your coworkers to make a full profile of him, only to receive poor answers, probably because he's a new character but also because it seems you haven't interacted much with them. The end of the round was really the final nail in the coffin for me, because the situation could've escalated to an IR if the other officers didn't talk you out of it. Granted, I think I took it a little personal afterwards when I was told what happened, because I main CMO and I've gone to (admittedly annoying ways sometimes) to ensure the protection of the patients and the following of protocol. I thought about every HOS I've met so far and they would've never placed themselves in such situation, which only made me wary of some behavior I believe you should correct. I don't think my HOP and Moroz have interacted that much since, but I've noticed the same pattern of behavior just by following security radio, be it with the HOS or your colleagues. In some rounds, you've made some controversial remarks that have caused a lot of discussion, mostly disagreement, regarding how to react in a situation. With my CMO, Pierre had to call you out, repeatedly, for refusing to leave the Command frequency after Logan had stepped in, from what I can OOCly say it was an attempt to have a few more minutes as interim. I didn't like this, and I was especially disappointed in how Moroz reacted to the petitions I've made. I know Pierre can be passive aggressive, but he's mostly passive, and the way you responded I think was not proportional to what I was asking. I'm not sure if it was the reception to your command application what caused you to scrap your previous character, with whom I shared a round. Now, I don't really want to think about that one round in particular and, to be honest, I feel like some might've taken too personally against you what was a hectic situation that left us cornered with the AI (I felt much so, because I went only to the bridge to swipe for a response team after you had trouble using the terminal (I don't blame you tbh, the first time I had to use it I panicked), and then I couldn't leave or even appoint an interim for my department). I think it was an awful round to play command, especially interim, but I do think it's true that your interactions with your department, and the antags, over the radio, were really negative and left a bad impression in many security players. I do, however, think you deserve more credit for knowing how to react, because you made some suggestions (such as move to the upload) which ultimately extended our survival. If anything, I don't know, I've been trying to erase that round from my head ever since because I know I didn't like many of my actions on it either. That being said, I will give you a few tips I think could improve your chances for a future whitelist, but also more importantly, your value as an asset in gameplay and roleplay, because I do think a huge aspect of the command whitelist is having solid roleplaying skills, and many of the criticism I've seen about command players basically boils down to the player in question not meeting roleplay standards. Give your character other motivations rather than being HOS. In fact, I'd say get that out of your character's mind at all. Promoting a character can backfire because if you don't get the app it will become awkward, but also because you do have to think about modifying some of your character's behavior, as you have to try balance what would be acceptable, OOCly, from Command, and which quirks a character can have before the promotion. I don't think promoting Pierre has made him more bland as a character, if anything I'd say he's more cranky now, but there has been some changes I've had to make (even a little retconning) to him because of his new position. If you want to play Aleksander, Octavian, or whoever, give them other ambitions than just this. Although characters are conceived to serve a purpose (e.g., you part from "I will create a HOS"), this utilitarianism will prove fatal for the character to evolve if it relies of it beyond this stage. Profession shapes many of the aspects of our lives and this is also true for fictional characters, but a character cannot become round if this is their only driving force. They require much more, and what surrounds and constitutes their personality is what will eventually make others excited to see you in the manifest whenever you play. If you're having trouble with your department, step away from protagonism. Try to listen more what your colleagues say, work more as a team and don't take action without consulting others. I would even say that, if this has become too much of an issue, instead of trying to promote characters you should focus in playing cadet or a simple officer. Don't think yourself above your coworkers or force interactions with the antagonists that will have you as the center. This goes for OOC behavior too. Contact players you enjoy RPing with, involve yourself more in OOC channels, and receive more feedback as that. This subforum is mostly dead and you will not gather much feedback from this post, unless you have an ultra popular or really infamous character everybody has a word to say about them. Instead, approach roleplayers you like, get involved in things like relay and chat RP, and over all workshop more in private and public conversations, possibly through Discord. This is also a great way to make ooc friends, so that's all positive. Lastly, accept that this is a process and it will take time. Probably weeks or even months, and because of that, try sticking with a concept at least at the beginning. I don't recommend scrapping characters or making too many because at the end, you will develop some more than others at best or, more commonly, all will be underveloped. There is no magic thing you can do that can make your character grow without much work, and I think you've actually taken a good first step at seeking feedback already, but positively improving upon the reception you receive will take some trial and error, and that's okay. I hope anything of what I've said helps you and I wish you the best of luck. -
A Diona application. BYOND Key: Desven Character Names: Pierre Godard, Luciano Morricone, Ka'Akaix'Pax C'thur, Za'Akaix'Mon Zo'ra, Qaal Nrmala Species you are applying to play: Diona What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I think I genuinely became intrigued about Dionae when I read about the ones at the royal gardens of Dominia. My main character is a Primary, so after that Dionae became important to his backstory. Mainly, a childhood pet that grew to become a gestalt of their own, which still serves his House. The main issue that kept me away from Dionae is that they're rarely played, and when one is, the character interacts too little with others. It's probably because one might struggle to interact, some people have no patience for characters that talk slow or avoid those that they find really alien. I like the challenge it adds, and I do think it's fun, in a tortuous way (been experiencing some of this as Vaurca lately too), but in the past it was too off-putting for me. Now with more experience and with better options for Dionae, as well as a new Diona revival of characters, I feel more confident to try out this awesome race. I really like the mechanics and I find the more 'alien' races the most fascinating, because you can experience new scenarios that, before as a human, would've been basically impossible. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Other than the cool mechanics? I'd say the biggest difference is the fact that you're a collective. And while some cyclops are more diverse than others, I'd say that, at the end of the day, whenever you have to think about yours in particular you really need to make sure you think about the interests of each nymph. Perhaps some of them have different personalities, perhaps they don't share some of the same beliefs, but they all work together. I'd say that I, particularly, find the chaotic cacophony the most interesting, although I don't think I would dare to play a character like that. I'm also really a fan of how poetic their language, expressions and names are - perhaps everything about Dionae. Not that humans are and cannot be as such, but it is not hold in the same standard in human culture. I think it plays a key part of playing as a Diona, and an aspect you cannot ignore. As per usual with these races, too, there comes the racism. It can sting sometimes, even if it's ICly, but as I've said before, I think it's part of the challenge (and maybe even fun) of playing xeno (or some particular human factions). I suppose this aspect is the least 'unique' of Dionae, but alongside Vaurcae, you're most likely to face discrimination from about almost everyone. Character Name: Before I answer this one: I have two concepts: one for a CMO and one for a cook. The cook would be The Sun Rises after a Long Night ('Sunny'), and I can expand about them in the questions, and the CMO would be The Sacred Oath to Heal Those in Need (might tweak it a bit). Please provide a short backstory for this character: Forgive me for seeing bug lore everywhere, but here we go: Because of the conflict that developed for centuries on board the Vaurcesian Titan Prime, the Dionae had not only to survive the harsh conditions, but adapt specific roles in their society in order to ensure survival. A group of nymphs would develop to eventually become something close to healers: either by providing the sufficient light (transporting scarce lightsources found inside the Titan, as well as ensuring key areas such as windows were unobstructed for their regeneration), but also to what could be considered providing therapy and moral aid, because of the tiresome experience that was the conflict, as well as the frustration of no clear communication with the Vaurcae. In other words, the healer faction would seek the wellbeing of the cluster, and they became vital for their permanence for such long time. However, there were some that believed that, with acts of kindness, the 'war' would achieve a resolution, and aided the Vaurcae war drones in a similar fashion a conventional doctor would aid an injured person in battle. This was met with skepticism from the rest of the Dionae on board, and controversy would not cease any time soon. If it proved detrimental for the reparations afterwards or not is unclear, but one thing is certain: among those that supported the peaceful treatment of what could be prisoners of war are those that have accepted and integrated to the hiveship, and make a sizeable faction of those that still remain on board today. Oath, in particular, was formed from this long tradition. Although some of the nymphs were the old healers and eventual first doctors to aid Vaurcae, the gestalt is a Seasoned Song, composed of a mixture of the eldest and younger nymphs, the youngest working as hands and legs and maintaining their mobility. The eldest are regarded as some of the most experienced members of the Titan Prime cluster, regarding medical matters. The eldest, however, had made the decision to finally part from the (now protection) of the Vaurcae, whom they hold in high esteem, and decided to embark in the civil life of Tau Ceti. Because of these qualifications, they have joined the NSS Aurora. What do you like about this character?: that they're related to buglore The themes of forgiveness and wisdom, as well as the idea of making a proper character with what could be considered a psychiatrical background (which I believe we're currently lacking in medbay). I've also always pictured that, if I were to play Dionae, I would create a character with old nymphs, as well as some younger that would be eager to split in times that might be required (or just to lounge at the lobby). Overall, I think it fits my playstyle, while also creating something enough of a new experience for me. How would you rate your role-playing ability?: Let's give me a 7.5. Notes: I don't want to be seen as if I'm hoarding apps, and I want to thank all of the wonderful people that convinced me to write this app, which honestly has made me more nervous than all of my previous ones. I still have a lot of Diona lore to learn, and I'm also almost certain that there were some Diona pages I can no longer find at the wiki (particularly one called 'Diona and you' or something), but I'm willing to do my homework and make justice to our treefriends.

[ACCEPTED] Desven configures a *warble hotkey
Desven replied to Desven's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Hey, thanks for getting back soon. I'll expand: 1. I would say they're from Ocror. Probably Tegucigalpa, but resided most of their life while in Jargon at Kal'la, I think this shaped their political/law weary perspective, as well as with all that working at the capital usually entails (centralization ideals, everyday contact with Council members, etc) 2. I would imagine Fexeq class ships, although I think Qaal has spent most of their time planetside, be it on Qerrbalak or the Nralakk system or Biesel. 3. I think that, if anything, anyone that spends enough time on Biesel becomes less overtly patriotic. This does not mean one would not be proud of their heritage, however. Although I do think they're still a strong supporter of the Federation, and would not support the terrorists involved in the Warbling arc. If anything, I would say that the only race she would truly be wary of would be C'thur Vaurcae because of their involvement, and she would've definitely supported the position of the Federation to make the C'thur regain their avowal of responsability with Nanotrasen. 4. I think her faith is more moderate and I mentioned it as discrete because, unlike characters like Pierre, she wouldn't really bring it up at work. She is aware that, as a minority in Biesel, Qebalak does not have the same governmental support like it does in the Federation. Whereas how she would see other individuals, I would say that she would probably think a young atheist Skrell is merely misguided, while an older atheist Skrell would lack guidance in their lives. As to how it has effected, as I've mentioned before, I think tolerance is the doctrine she believes the most. It is not the same to preach it, however, and I don't really wish to make this particular issue a constant point of conflict for the character, but I do believe she tries as hard as she can to follow the virtues of her faith. 5. I mentioned fifteen years, so this would be before. I think the Frost invasion would be perhaps the hardest moment for Qaal to choose between the Federation and Nanotrasen, ultimately making the choice in favor of Nanotrasen and Biesel. Although, as for the Alliance, I believe she grew weary of it. Because of her diplomatic background, her main concern was to better the relationships between Biesel and the Federation. They're a lot more supportive of a Biesel-Jargon alliance than a Sol-Jargon one, but that would be, mostly, because of her own experience. 6. I would say she wishes to see more Skrellian presence in the now SCC as a whole, and given the new face of the NSS Aurora, she's moving from Nanotrasen-only objectives to also see what can be done with contractors. As for what she could do, she would like for celebration of Skrell holidays on board, as well as of more Skrell (friendly) visitors. 7. That would be a big disagree. She thinks of them as terrorists that threaten the Federation and is a strong supporter of the Resistance being censored. -
A Skrell application BYOND Key: Desven Character Names: Pierre Godard, Luciano Morricone, Ka'Akaix'Pax C'thur Species you are applying to play: Skrell What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Probably teal or aquamarine Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: Although what I said on my Vaurca app is true and I'm still very much fascinated by Vaurcae, the other species that has been under my radar for a while is Skrell. In fact, I was ready to apply for it like two months ago before I fell into a Vaurca rabbit hole. I really love their design, over all, and I feel like they're a very fashionable species, which is always a plus. Also, I like both Science and Medical, and I like that they excel the most in those departments. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Probably their psionic abilities. I know humans and other species can get a psionic receiver augment (which I'm unsure what mechanical purpose it has, if any, and it's not just RP), but the mechanical aspects of this (such as telepathy and the Nrom) as well as what you can RP out of it is what makes them really unique in my opinion. Also, slime ranching sounds fun. Character Name: Qaal Nremala Please provide a short backstory for this character: At the age of 86, Qaal's career has been mostly comprised to their service of the Federation. mainly due to the Ruupkala. Their calling to diplomatic work was the second of their specilalizations, after a first degree in Federation Law. Their Qrri'Myaqq, a lifelong law enforcer and minor Idol, cultivated similar interests to Qaal and their Qrra'Myaqq, and as young as of the age of 8, Qaal was already lauded by their teachers in kindergarten as somebody with a promising career in Federation politics. Qaal would always think of themselves as a servant to the Council, however, their loyalty would be tested when, 15 years ago, they were part of a diplomatic mission in Biesel. To put it bluntly, Qaal became fascinated with the human lifestyle and customs. They decided to start a new career in Nanotrasen, as well as began dressing in a female-presenting fashion and even taking interest in their arts. While not betraying her Federation origins or rejecting her Jargon heritage, Qaal has learned to live the 'Biesel way', as well as becoming versed in the (lax) regulations of the megacorporations and Biesel law. Given her history, she has recently been relocated, from planetside operations, to Head of Personnel on board the NSS Aurora. A firm believer of the Qowii doctrine, she wishes to remain tolerant and resolve any conflicts in her new position. What do you like about this character?: I have some ideas for another Skrell science character born in human space, and even though Qaal is female-presenting and has assimilated at human space, I like that she fits better in Federation politics and ideals. I also enjoy playing religious characters, and intent for her faith to play a (discrete) part of her portrayal. How would you rate your role-playing ability?: Today I'm feeling like a 6.5, 7 at most. Notes: None atm

Player complaint - Icedcabbage, Liam Dozz

I've done more memory recollection and I really had no idea you were antag. As I've said, I was busy with other stuff to read your radio threats, and the things you said to me there were too vague to be considered a threat, I really thought you were actually worried about my wellbeing. Even when you hit me I thought it was a misclick. Granted we both didn't communicate, but to be honest, you didn't have to kill me. It's not among us or something where finding you with a body is 'sus', and I didn't find you absorbing the body or anything, I thought you were just a bystander that didn't know how to react. Even if I saw you absorb the body, I would've just turned away if we talked about it, because I was ling too. This was an overescalation by your part. -
Colfer AI application 2: Door opening boogaloo
Desven replied to Colfer's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I just know Colfer was made for this job. I'm not sure what happened behind the scenes that got his previous app denied, but he's a great roleplayer and really gets into the synthetic mindset. +1 -
These look interesting, I wonder why the conversation was suddenly dropped.

I do not recall any radio warnings, but granted, I was busy checking sensors/talking via hivenet and med channel, as well as rushing with the Captain. There were only two people in medbay, I was one of them, and because I was bug and I got warnings (although I wasn't told what was it, in fact I thought it was the vampire that was killing Nul) I went to rescue the body from space. The ones I do recall where the ones you wrote, which were something along the lines of 'you will die out here', which I thought you meant it was because I had no suit and you didn't know Vaurcae don't need one. In fact, I didn't think of you as a threat when I saw you (and it took me a moment to see you, reviving reset my eyes and gave me back the blue filter, which is hard to see with) and thought you were trying to rescue too, until you began hitting me with a pickaxe. I couldn't just run away as you say because you kept striking and I can't hit back and because I can't regenerate on my own, so the screen and chat gets full with you are in pain messages. I decided to finally stay (I wasn't really hit that bad, in fact, I was still rather healthy) but pretend death before you absorbed me. I do not think there was enough dialogue, warnings or not, and you picked up on an easy target instead of properly roleplaying with me the scenario. I would've probably even let you absorb me loocly if you played your cards better than that. -
BYOND Key: Desven Game ID: cbF-ab6K Player Byond Key/Character name: Two players: Icedcabbage as Anderson Bhander and Liam Dozz (can't recall the ckey of them) Staff involved: N/A Reason for complaint: Poor antag play, murderboning. I was changeling but I was a Vaurca Worker, so I couldn't really use my abilities or any defense really. What occurred was that we got in a situation where I took Liam Dozz to another Worker, Nul, so he could do some experiments (we got the Captain's approval for this and Liam was going to sign the forms downstairs). What happened was that, without a word, he began sucking both and attacking us. I feigned dead while he didn't notice and he sucked me (technically making me unconscious), slashed my legs then tossed me to disposals. He did the same to Nul, but Nul managed to get out. I didn't if it weren't because of the regeneration I would've died. I genuinely see no scenario where this would've been acceptable, it is a really dirty move for a fight, especially when you got the upperhand not only because you can render the others unconscious but also because both literally can't attack back (Workers can't throw punches and lorewise just run out of violent situations). The other case is about as unacceptable, if not more, because I at least interacted with Liam before that occurred. When I got back on my feet Nul cried for help over the hivenet and I helped the Captain search him. We saw part of science was vented and that he was dragged out. I walked out to the asteroid and was told that he was already dead, so I went to reach for his body when Anderson jumped out of nowhere and, without a work, killed me with a pickaxe. Again I feigned death, but he was a ling too so I got absorbed. I would like other players to speak up too. It seems Liam got killed quickly after by security because he likely attempted something similar, whereas Anderson went murderboning most of the department. In particular, I know Ronald Monday got typerushed by him, which is a really dirty tacting. Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation?: No. I was somewhat salty and thought it was just me overreacting, until I thought more about it and turns out it was ahelp-worthy. Also, I saw Alb was AFK. Approximate Date/Time: April 20th 2021, 9 PM Central.

As it is right now, the only available crematorium is inside the old quarantine. It's a spooky, odd place that not everyone knows about. Granted, cremating bodies can be a rare circumstance, however, when it is required (black k'ois poisoning or something like that) some won't dare to go there and just store the corpses as normal. It would be neat if one of the bottom trays worked as a crematorium.

Desven tries to connect to the Hivenet
Desven replied to Desven's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
As I was saying on my second post, I would express this mostly through humor. I know some of the current medical staff is somewhat of a prankster, so i would loocly make sure to coordinate with them to push for slapstick comedy. As for other emotions, he would probably take a while to react to stress or rage or even happiness, until several moments of those ammount, but he would definitely seek these opportunities to scratch the itch, so to speak. As for the second question, I think this would depend mostly in the interactions with other Vaurca players. He would probably be wary of some of the other C'thur broods, and the other hives would probably be alien to him. I don't think he would hold a grudge against K'lax as much as other C'thur, but he would certainly be quicker to distrust some of them. You can see I'm a big proponent of the Hivenet and Vaurca cooperation, so ICly I would prefer if Pax was, well, peaceful, as his name suggests, and not cause any trouble with his bug brethen. -
Reporting Personnel: Pierre Godard Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Chief Medical Officer Game ID: cbA-cPOK Personnel Involved: Isaac Hugs - Offender Kathira El-Hashem - Victim Saanudr'arr Jurl-Kiimak - Witness Secondary Witnesses: Ka'Akaix'Kutr C'thur - Witness to a minor incident Time of Incident: 19:15 Real Time: Around 2:40 p.m., Central Location of Incident: Kitchen, medical bay reception. Nature of Incident: [ ] - Workplace Hazard [ ] - Accident/Injury [ ] - Destruction of Property [ ] - Neglect of Duty [x] - Harassment [ ] - Assault [x] - Misconduct [ ] - Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: I received a fax informing of a situation between Mister Hugs and Madam El-Hashem. Hugs had stolen her cane, which she requires to walk properly, and began to mimic how a noble person would sound. If this was not mockery enough, the man ran away with the cane, until Security was notified. The department was particularly busy because of an ongoing investigation, so their response might have taken a while. Eventually, Hugs returned the cane and underwent through cryogenics soon after, perhaps to receive no disciplining from his actions. Another minor incident that occurred involving Mister Hugs was when he entered the medical bay requesting to revise the 'morphine chamber' for any missing 'morphine', a medicament so perilous and addictive it has not been in circulation for centuries. I did not tolerate his behavior, and demanded him to leave. I would not add this to the report if it did not show a pattern of misbehavior from Mister Hugs. Submitted Evidence: Did you report it to a Head of Staff or a superior? If so, who? If not, why?: I was the only Head of Staff available, and was informed until after Isaac Hugs had entered storage.
