Reporting Personnel: Pierre Godard Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Chief Medical Officer Game ID: cb8-cA9o Personnel Involved: Emerald Black (Offender) Alik Jrruzhani (Witness) Shanba Iskandarova (Witness) Secondary Witnesses: N/A Time of Incident: The whole 1700 hour of the day. Real Time: 12 p.m. Central, 05/19/21 Location of Incident: Medical bay, Central hallway, Brig and Bridge Nature of Incident: [ ] - Workplace Hazard [ ] - Accident/Injury [ ] - Destruction of Property [ ] - Neglect of Duty [ ] - Harassment [ ] - Assault [x] - Misconduct [x] - Other: Failure to execute an order Overview of the Incident: Miss Emerald Black, dressed all in black, was inside my department. I did not know who she was, and because of her attire I approached her. She did not have the custodian cart with her or any other custodian items, just a dry rag that could have very much be used to conceal fingerprints if a crime was committed. When I tried to communicate with her, she ignored me, even though it was obvious that I was making an attempt because I followed her. This occurred multiple times during the shift, and every attempt was futile, even when I requested her to have some sort of visual identification. Although I know service uniforms are lax, I believe her dressing is completely inappropriate to her position. Afterward I was informed that Miss Black might be deaf, but such disability, and neither muteness, are listed in her file. It has also been relayed to me that she is seen wearing headphones occasionally, but this I cannot prove. Submitted Evidence: This is the usual outfit of Miss Emerald Black, as captured inside the station. I cannot see a justification for wearing this as a service employee. Perhaps a miner could in their free time, but certainly not a custodian. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or a superior? If so, who? If not, why?: I was the Head of Staff ignored. Actions taken: N/A Additional Notes: N/A

Omicega -- Human Lore Deputy Application
Desven replied to Omicega's topic in Developer Applications Archives
All of this sounds good. You're a beloved player, we haven't really interacted OOCly but I know you get along with plenty of people, which is also a good thing for a deputy. You have my +1. -
Omicega -- Human Lore Deputy Application
Desven replied to Omicega's topic in Developer Applications Archives
I really like your suggestions, and I think you'd be a great candidate, although I agree that there's more places than just Elyra that are quite lackluster, even Biesel (outside of Mendell) to a degree. Now, with another language question: would you propose an Arabic like language for Elyra? Would you 'split' Freespeak, considering how it's basically spoken everywhere? What would you like to add to these planets in particular, their industries, their customs and culture, etc? -
DanseMacabre's Human Lore Deputy Application
Desven replied to Kintsugi's topic in Developer Applications Archives
While I think you're more than qualified and really passionate about human lore, the only thing I'm wary of is about how blunt or even rude you can be with some people. We've barely interacted, but I know you sometimes can even come across as mean-spirited with others, without giving any positive feedback especially. You also tend to have fairly controversial opinions regarding game mechanics mostly. I guess my only question is that if you are willing to be less opinionated as you've mentioned, or at least keep more to yourself, in order to work with a team? Also, I hope Visegrad gets some love, whether you're accepted or not. -

Glory to mankind - Ricky's Human deputy App
Desven replied to Ricky_the_banshee's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Big +1, Ricky and I share the same views in many of these topics and find the same parts lacking and I think he would be fantastic to enrich them. He's a great roleplayer, and has a lot of experience on the server. My question: what would you like to be done in regards to languages? The same goes for culture. -
Hey I helped too. I really like Ramke's char, and they put a lot of work on this. Like a lot, took them weeks. That alone is a huge merit. +1

I posted this suggestion on another thread, but I was asked to expand further upon: Basically, while it's possible right now for some antags such as burglar to simply not purchase guns and make a gimmick that brings the crew together for one reason or another, I would like to see an off-station antagonist that doesn't rely on weapons, but rather, on disguises or other items. Now, is it possible with the chameleon kit? Yes. But say, you want to roleplay as a scientist that has found this strange artifact, you could be able to select proper clothes (not chameleon ones) and a gamemode unique artifact for the crew to analyze. Or maybe you want to roleplay as Centcomm, and you definitely have this one item that proves you're not a scam. Aren't there drop pods, survivors, etc? Yes, but they rely on ghost spawners and will always be seen as the 'side' gimmick of a round, even when in extended. What I propose is a gamemode, or gamemodes, that expand further on that and make it so that everyone will be cooperative with the stranded guy or the visitor or whatever. I am certain we will see things like this on the NBT, ships hailing for help or expeditions that will require the crew to work together, etc. But I think that, while we wait for NBT, we could use some of that here too. Now, I am also bumping this older thread by Danse, because I want to touch a bit on PvE. Again, a Greimorian invasion or vines or blob can occur on any round, but a gamemode dedicated to fighting these menaces (and maybe some kind of visitor, not merc per se, that will aid a la bughunt) would be interesting. Maybe some could be player controlled too, and I know we have something similar like this when you spawn as survivors. Seeing that on-station would be pretty cool too.

Oh, my bad. Legally, you're considered a piece of property, and while you can buy your freedom, you will be considered a second class citizen. Even when in Biesel you can be free and there are punishments stipulated for harming a free IPC, systematically you're not guaranteed to have the same legal protection as humans or Skrell. If Sachiel were to be murdered on board the Aurora, it wouldn't be considered automacide, but sabotage.

Yaku's Command Application (Wee Woo wants to go Commando)
Desven replied to Yaku's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Unfortunately it is less than a preference and more of a server rule. We all do our effort to keep a good spelling ICly, you shouldn't be exempt of this and especially not if you wish to play an important role on the round. -
Yaku's Command Application (Wee Woo wants to go Commando)
Desven replied to Yaku's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I've read this a few times and I'll -1 this. I think your answers are poor and do not represent the command mindset at all. I can't say I'm a fan of your characters either, but that's probably just more my personal taste. Although: while head of staff are not idols in any sense, they are the face of their department and, to an extent, of the round. I try to not be too picky with spelling, but I definitely think you should improve your IC punctuation and capitalization, the last thing we need is more Command that ignore those rules. I've seen your merchant speak over the radio and it breaks the immersion of the round for me. -
I've been thinking more about this and thought it would make s great gamemode if the antag spawned with wardrobes like in a play. I know there are chameleon suits but the thing is with burglar/merc you're expected to be hostile, you spawn with weapons and the uplink is mostly that. What I'm proposing is a gamemode where you're basically at the backstage of a play, no weapons or anything (or maybe some, but not as deadly as bombs etc), and you have more items on your disposition, maybe artifacts or animals or whatever, to help convey a story that won't end in bloodshed (hopefully). I've seen some antags do gimmicks like this but they still have to spin around their intentions and all.

Thank you for your answer. The points you raise are exactly what have been concerning me about my application. I think the money issue is also presented mostly as a deus ex machina to get Lara out of her condition. I'll expand on this after answering the other question regarding the differences. So, in the differences what I failed to convey on my original post was what I meant by instinct in humans. I was trying to explain the viscerality and gut reaction of organicals as opposed to the calculations of the positronic brain, but got carried away. The positronic brain, in its mimicry, might appear at first glance as if it were human or had human emotions, but that's far from the case. Perhaps what's tragic to all those shells that attempt to go stealth as humans is that, in the end, their behavior will always seem off by them. I've seen other applications talk about cause and effect as how IPCs act, and that's true. The IPCs, even the most convincing, will act logically and know their boundaries; let's say two humans are drunk at a bar and one insults the other, this might lead to a fist fight. Now let's say that the insulted party is an IPC. Not only words wouldn't affect it in the same way because they lack the visceral emotion to get instinctly offended, they would also know that the outcome of a fist fight is never good, especially when you're considered, at best, a second class citizen and, what would mostly be the case, a piece of property. In short: roleplay as an IPC requires you to reeally think about the consequences of your actions, kind of like when you play all the possible movements you can imagine in your head while playing chess, before picking what you consider the best. Now, regarding the backstory: sorry! I got carried away by the whole Einstein Engines connection, but I still think I can work it around. Lara would be seen mostly as a freak show attraction, almost as a bearded lady or as someone that would've been put to display on a circus less than a hundred years ago. I don't think her popularity, then, was in good faith, but rather a mix of shock and curiosity, and the first shows would be actually sponsored by the hospital as more PR for them, with the gainings going to them and not Lara, and thus is wouldn't be much of a side-gig for her, but rather an obligation and extension of her day job. Lara would get purchased by a man in an interest of making the singing attractive shell a sensation beyond Lunarian space, and thus they would travel first at Sol, then at Tau Ceti territory, with at first mixed success until eventually the interest would fade away, mostly by the same reasons I've explained on my original post. This was all done against her personal wishes: she would prefer to remain as a nurse mostly because of her programming, but also because it would've made her feel more productive and helpful, not to mention her circus-like life would've been mostly uncomfortable, with really bad conditions. The desire to become a physician would stem from self-preservation: in Lara's calculations, the only way to improve her situation would not only be to return to work at a hospital, but to have a job that could be deemed as more vital and thus less replaceable there. While the nursing units were a success at AMH, the reason why the hospital willingly sold Lara was not only because the man would fully pay for her, but also because they already had their eye on newer, better units- the NU Mk. II I've talked about. They made thei way to TC mostly because the man was struggling already in Solarian space to maintain the fad, and this would also make her owner more aggressive towards her, with constant threats of scrapping, worse spaces to live at and less repairs, which would rapidly make her look even less convincing and, by consequence, less appealing. Her owner would finally die because of a car accident in Mendell, which would render her left leg basically useless. I want to make it very clear that Lara did not kill her owner, or even attempted to do so, but rather it was an (un)fortunate event due to rapid speed and use of drugs. Lara, owned but ownerless, would become Biesel property, which would be sold to Nanotrasen. While considering scrapping her and selling the parts for a marginal profit of what they originally purchased the IPC for, ultimately they would place her at a clerk job in a Mendell clinic, with superficial repairs to her leg. Beans would not be from Konyang but from Scraphead, who would find her falling because of the malfunctions, and deciding to take her to the church the very next day. Lara became fascinated, mostly, because of a quasi-spiritual need she had developed over the years. To find aid, human and IPC, after so long would ultimately intrigue her and the message of the Trinary church, perhaps what she needed to hear after enduring so much, would draw her to becoming an initiate. In this version of the story, Lara still remains owned today, but with the aid of church to be finally repaired and its message, she would be able to argue the need of an upgraded database, going as far as to claim that she would “repay” for it, placing her in a loan with her NT owners, which were already convinced beforehand anyways that an upgrade would prove to be the best option in the long term. I'm actually unsure how name changes work for owned IPCs, but in Lara's case it would be because she would encourage it as a rebranding, and also because it would become her “church name”, so to speak. In her new self, the old name would prove to only be a symbol of the harsh mistreatment of the IPCs that, while she would continue to endure, hopefully it won't be on the same manner again.

Back when this was merged I saw they were saying a font color change was about to go up, but it never did. Honestly, we discussed more about the font than the effort to actually do that PR, which would be a simple line change. I kind of get why it was changed, mostly so it's not labeled as 'uncivilized', but I really REALLY hope Tradebrand doesn't get its 'enunciates' removed.

An IPC whitelist BYOND Key: Desven Character Names: Pierre Godard, Qaal Nramala, Ka'Akaix'Pax C'thur, Zhranzda Rajii'thaamar, An Oath to Soothe the Vulnerable Souls, Seznia Zarkami. Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Ping! Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I've becoming interested in IPCs mostly because of the Trinary Perfection. To be honest, I don't find the industrial frames that appealing and neither the baselines (although probably I would make a ZH mobility frame and steal @Kaizr Darwin), but the shells are really interesting. It wasn't until I began to read the wiki that I thought about all the actual struggles of IPCs. Most of my characters dislike them, and some people even think I oocly don't like robots too, but that's not exactly true. I haven't really thought much about how the issue would affect me in real life, mostly because it's still a far-fetched sci-fi concept, and while they don't have actual emotions like humans do, I can still see them specific things affecting them, kind of like how Data in Star Trek is mostly unaffected or oblivious to many words of humans, but becomes something similar to 'upset' or even 'angry' when he gets mocked for being a machine, or even when they try to disassemble him. Of course our lore isn't like Star Trek, and I don't plan to make a Data clone or anything, but he hits the nail on some 'emotions' that become relevant. and it also depends on which model and when it was built. Back to the Trinary Perfection, religions are probably the best of the lore to me, and I like their eschatologies and to think about their implications. and after having Tribunalist and Th'akh characters, as well as those afraid of Glorsh and its implications, being on the other side of the issue sounds interesting. I would surely love to roleplay preaching that synthetics have souls, and I'm glad that there are some characters I can interact with that would follow, and others that would also despise (because conflict is fun) those beliefs, which would create really interesting scenes. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: I touched a bit on the emotions, although that really depends on each positronic brain. I would say that being an IPC gives you a lot of leeway to different degrees of 'sentience' and 'humanity', but there are some core concepts that all of them would have. First of all, there's no instinct; instead, you have directives, that unlike humans you are 'bound' to them. By this I don't mean that you have laws or that you are lawed to the AI, because that's not it, but rather, I'm talking about how, for example, fearRP works with IPCs. With organics, self-preservation is an instict, mostly coming from pain and knowing you're in danger. For IPCs, it is a directive, and it can take strange paths that would become reasonable for the IPC. I would say that, mostly, the biggest difference is that you are not human, instead you mimic one. As an old TV-head baseline, the bipedal appearance, the voice programming and the different levels of being able to hold complex conversations mimics just enough to anthromorphize you. As a 2463 shell you might fool most of the station if you're going stealth, but even if you're not, most people might not think twice about how different you are at first glance; or even, they might come closer to you and treat you more as a human when they get to know you. It really depends on what you're aiming for. In my concrete case, I plan to play an early shell and I'll go over this later on the other questions, but one of the main themes for me will be that their face, for example, will now appear at the uncanny valley because the newer ones would look more convincing. The brain would also might have problem with speaking with some constructions or using some phrases, as the programming was originally not meant to be for engaging in small talk, but rather, to provide a service in the healthcare system seen as an industry. I've noticed my characters vary from what it's on paper to what the actual roleplay is on station, and I'd say they're tweaked for the best than to what I originally planned, but in this scenario I do believe that the mimicry, despite the IPCs efforts, will make it apparent for others that they're a robot. Character Name: Sachiel (formerly NU-12/Lara) Please provide a short backstory for this character: Shortly after Terraneus Diagnostics presented their first convincing shells, a picture would go viral on the extranet and on plenty of newspapers: Fifteen nurses, traditionally attractive, posing with their medical equipment. A brief video of an intellectual against convincing shells, during a holo interview, would become viral because a news reporter would trick him into believing they were human. While there was plenty of doubt, the hospital were the shells would work at would gain a lot of good press. The Almodovar Memorial Hospital in Harmony City, Luna, was a high-end hospital known for its fancy facilities, state-of-the-art machinery and, most importantly, its hospitality. Patients would feel mostly comfortable knowing that they would have great attention and the price for the stay was worth it. One of these nurses was Nursing Unit 12, but her nametag would read Lara. While AMH originally attempted to purchase more than fifteen shells, the price and the manufacturing proved too much for them. Fifteen would soon not be enough, these nurses would prove to be popular among the patients. Their eagerness to treat, their beauty and their disposition would struck their patients. Lara became known because of voice tone. The shells varied, mostly, in hair length and eye color; their face factions and body built were roughly the same. The other main difference would be their voices, programmed to have different soothing tones, and Lara was fortunate to have one of the most harmonic ones. When a child had to undergo surgery and was scared, the child's parents would encourage her to sing him a lullaby, which she did. The brief video of the shell singing the child to sleep before his appendectomy would appear in local media, and Lara would be interviewed by some newspapers, as well as invited to some nightclubs to sing more. What began as a hobby, with ocassional appearances on stage, would become her second job. Nursing was not lucrative enough and Lara would make most of her money from her singing and the tips she would get. The Lunarian lifestyle is lavish and expensive, and if she wished to have a proper apartment she would require a good support. While the desire for an apartment was originally a luxury, it would be required because the Hospital decided to cut housing for their IPCs, even the well-known NUs. This wouldn't stop there. Years after their initial success, newer, more convincing shells would be introduced. These were the 'new-NUs', a second generation that learned from the lacking of the first nurses and would expand upon them. They were made more customized, and not only their faces were now more varying from shell to shell, but also would be made in different sizes, with better synth-hair and more naturalistic voices. One of the other improvements would be the expansion of their memory capacity and their ability to be more 'interactive'- a convincing laugh, less eery smiles and more varied conversations would be some of the newer features. Lara remained a known figure at the hospital, but her days of glory were soon over. It become more concerning when NU-10 suffered an accident that required extensive repairs to her shell. The Hospital would refuse to maintain this unit, and instead would decide to scrap it. It became obvious that this was the fate for the rest of them, and the only thing that bought Lara some time was the fact that she was once the singing nurse. While other synthetic bands or singers would come and go, the fad was mostly over. Lara wasn't welcome to those places anymore, and many that once found her convincing and attractive would now be terrified or cringe when seeing the cheaper synthskin, the fake irises and the now-obvious robotic features they once had trouble discerning when she was new. While Lara was able to purchase her freedom, she was hesitant because she was aware of the fate of those free IPCs. She felt some loyalty to her workplace too, and was in good terms with the authorities, even after the decision of scrapping NU-10, which was spinned as something necessary and beyond repair. One day, Lara asked for the hospital director to upgrade her database. Her request was simple, she argued that she was more than capable than just aiding doctors, and that her experience could be used as a physician, if only she were to acquire the proper knowledge and practice with her seniors. The director found this laughable, and while he tried to held it back, he simply argued that such thing wasn't possible because of corporate decisions and that she shouldn't worry about her position. Because of this, she made the hard decision to become free. She knew it wouldn't be easy, it would leave her without nothing, but she also knew that the alternative was becoming scrapped eventually without much warning. Now free, she was homeless and decided to leave Luna because she couldn't afford to live there anymore. It was after a season in Konyang, the place where she decided it was the best for her to live now as a free IPC, that she came first in contact with the Trinary Perfection church. By then, she was working at laboratory clinics, as a receptionist in a hospital desk and even had a brief season on retail. One night, after work, she was attacked by some people that tried to kidnap her in order to sell the pieces in the local robotics black market. While she managed to escape, her leg suffered mayor damages and was proved unresponsive. A baseline IPC, seeing her collapse outside a cafeteria, would rush from its post as a barista to aid her. The IPC, nicknamed Beans, would host her for the night and told her that the roboticist of the church would aid her. She had seen the Cathedral before, but hadn't thought much about it. After going with Beans for a reparation to the roboticist, she was surprised to find that the roboticist would not charge her, which she feared the most, as she was saving for the new database. Lara remained for the service with Beans and would soon become an initiate after being vetted, and she would change her name, which she believed to be one of her old life remains, to Sachiel. Sachiel would devote herself to the church soon after, with most of her free time spent in aiding others and preaching. After a season of missionary work in New Gibson, which was also the place where she finally purchased her new database, she would become a priestess for the Tau Ceti chapter. Some of the members would recommend her to find a new position on a clinic at Mendell, where she worked for two years before the Aurora. This was because the clinic was closed after being purchased by Nanotrasen, and the doctors were spread around NT facilities. While not particularly excited about the Aurora per se, and finding herself somewhat trapped, again, to the corporate decisions ruling her life, Sachiel remains optimistic about meeting new IPCs, as well as spreading the word of the church elsewhere. What do you like about this character?: I think I've mentioned this in particular like a dozen times by now, so sorry if I'm just repeating myself, but I really like the idea of aging synthetics and how shells from ten years ago would now look outdated, similar to how older video games don't look as fancy now, despite that they appeared to have ultra realistic graphics when they came out. Our technology improves and what's deemed old is discarded. I also like the idea of an IPC looking after herself to improve her life, and while she's worried about her memory eventually filling, she is also doing her best to preserve herself for years to come. How would you rate your role-playing ability?: 7? 7.5? 7.5 is probably too much, more like 7.2 or 7.3 Notes: n/a

unathi [ACCEPTED] Desven flicks his tongue
Desven replied to Desven's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Hi. I'd say mostly mild disapproval from some of her faith, although at the end they find it understable, since in her situation this was one of the only viable options, not to mention cheaper than a proper reconstruction of her foot. It's also somewhat discrete, as it can be easily hidden, so it's not something she will have to bring up everyday. She would probably be conscious of approaching some shamans because of her situation, similar to how my other character with a prosthesis is conscious of approaching some priests, although in his case the thought of having a metalic hand torments him more. -
unathi [ACCEPTED] Desven flicks his tongue
Desven replied to Desven's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Thank you for answering, you raise some vitals points I skimmed over that if I were not to fix would create plot holes, and I appreciate it. So I will try to patch over those: 1. If I were to guess I would say it was a mixture of the Queen's efforts and connections plus their clan wishing a better life for their youngest. I doubt there have been many more Zarkami in the past two decades, as most in the age of bearing children would have been rendered barren because of the radioactive side effects, and the trip would consist of other similarly aged Zarkami, men and women, that might still have a chance to leave mostly normal lives for their remainder years. I also imagine that the Clan Zarkami has been in somewhat of a relevance decline inside the Yu'kal life, too. Their hard work was in the earlier days of (re)construction, and they would also find themselves slowly replaced by the aid of foreign organizations and their technology, from IAC to Hephaeustus. As per the credits, it would be most of their savings- the elder Zarkami know they will die in the wasteland, and would rather see their young not. Regarding the smuggling act; Aslakhanov would have a trade relationship with Izweski guilds. The trip itself to the Nation would probably be traumatic, because they would have to wander and face not only the harsh environment, but the hostile peoples too. Arriving at the Nation, their worries would not end there: they would have to mask their accents and live in hiding for a couple of days, as well as bypass any security of the spaceports. Finally, regarding the attack- it was done by a rival family of the Tajara, not the Zarkami. They would not risk for help because the ship contained illegal goods. If the engine were not to be repaired or exploded, the important members of the Aslakhanov family would escape in a escape pod and the Zarkami, as well as most of their crew, would die in the ship. 2. She would follow the Warrior's Code, and most importantly, her struggles with her own health would be a proof of her courage to Seznia. Because of her own condition as a carpenter now, she would have her own interpretation of the code, such as adhering to her deadlines, accepting to lower prices for those in need (in a logical way, of course, not giving away things for free but rather adjusting to those that cannot afford the usual prices), as well as a huge loyalty to her superiors in the workshop. These are all values Zarkami still holds high to this day, and they would probably be re adapted yet again on board the Aurora. Of course, she would also follow the Matriarch's code. She will mainly seek to expand her knowledge, which is also why she is becoming and apprentice, as well as to remain graceful in her duties and be respected by her colleagues. I'd say she's optimistic about this on Biesel, as the different values of the society would allow for her to not be looked down upon as in other scenarios, but I guess we know that's not true, especially given how many Unathi are on engineering, which may follow traditional values. Yes, she is Th'Akh and it's a big part of her life and ethos. She frequents the Shaman of her Clan and because of the woodwork she has likely taken part in funerary services, which she would expect them to adhere to the burial rites. She is also weary that her prosthesis, while aiding her in this world, will not be able to do so in the spirit world, so she is humble in her mobility and knows that, eventually, she will have the same mobility problems in the afterlife. Although he respects her differences with the Sk'Akh, like most of her community she would despise Aut'akh, especially because she would consider them to fetish something that she had to acquire in need (a robotic limb). Unlike my other character with a struggle because of their prosthesis, this one is less visible and she understands that it's not against her faith nor does she feel targeted for acquiring it, but the seek for prosthesis is where she draws the line. If I were ever to think of Zarkami as having an ideological feud with someone, it would likely be with an Aut'akh. 3. I don't think she hates men, and she probably believes matriarchy makes a lot more sense; especially since you never have a doubt about the mother of a child, whereas the father could always be anyone. Out of this principle, as well as the practical lifestyle in her community, she would see men as subordinates, perhaps even blunt, that require to be led by women. The idea of men dominating over women is probably one of the strongest reasons as to why she would never pledge loyalty to Izweski, and she believes it is simply unnatural for a society to organize in such way. The gender equality is probably something that baffles her, too, although with more curiosity. She understands that, in principle, Biesel does not have the same tribalistic nature and that it is what functions in such society. She would also very much dislike male Unathi on board that would treat her as a traditional woman. If there are any questions or I need to expand on these, feel free to ask. -
An Unathi application. BYOND Key: Desven Character names: I might clean up my slots, but the characters I'm actually playing are Pierre Godard, Qaal Nramala, Ka'Akaix'Pax C'thur, Zhranzda Rajii'thaamar and An Oath to Soothe the Vulnerable Souls. Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character: I'm not sure yet. Probably azure, probably sand. It really depends once I get to try the character creator. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yessir Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I wasn't planning on applying so soon, but the other day I spent the whole day at the hospital with a lot of free time and decided to read Unathi lore. I had a really vague idea, mostly from my interaction as Dominian and reading the Dommie lore, and all I knew about Moghes, properly, was feudalism and some desert that was full of radiation. While I've had them on my scope already, and even wondered on making a lizard with my rough understanding of them, it wasn't until I read the lore that I actually gained a lot more interest and realized how cool they are. There's also the fact that Haydizzle is spriting a lot of cool stuff and I would like to try those items when I can. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: This one is a little bit tricky for me because my human character is Dominian and they share a lot of values and tradition. However, the importance of honor, the clan structures that are ingrained in basically all Unathi, as well as the feudalist setting. Sure, they can also devour small animals and hiss funnily, but that's more the mechanics rather than how Unathi interact, especially which each other, which is something I also like to see. All those little details like how to stare at you, or how they will lose their cool if you call them by their first name, are things that you always consider while playing as a human (or any other species) and referring to a Unathi, and in that way they're really alien to us. Character Name: Seznia Zarkami Please provide a short backstory for this character: Hatched five months after the bombs dropped, Seznia was born at the Zarkami clan was already devasted by the Contact War. Traditionally carpenters and artisans, almost all Zarkami men lost their lives during the conflict, and other few would lose theirs because of the effects of radiation. Seznia was afected by this, too, with her horn split into two points, almost giving the impression that it's broken, and a deformed right foot that would only be replaced later in life, with disdain from some of her community. Nevertheless, Zarkami women rapidly allied with Queen Szek'Hakh, who found herself in similar circumstances, and relocated to Yu'kal, where they would aid to rebuild the settlement and the aquaculture farms. Seznia herself, in this rapidly changing environment, wished to become a warrior, but her meek figure, and her inability to properly walk because of her foot, would make it impossible. While her clan was supportive of her, especially her mother and her surviving brother, they understood the need for a more proper and traditional work for her, and she would follow the Zarkami's steps of carpentry (in her clan, originally reserved for men) and upholstery (for women). While this would not fulfill her, since the age of 15 she became a member of her clan's workshop. The introduction of Hephaestus technology would dramatically change her life. She would receive a prosthetic, which some Th'akh shaman would disapprove, but that her (also Th'akh) clan would encourage, as she would gain proper mobility. Seznia herself thought of this as a blessing. It would prove too late for her to change paths in life, and the ability to move, which was gradual at first, would not make her think that her experience would change. She thought she would remain in carpentry for the rest of her life. Because of the efforts of her Queen to get her people out of the Wastelands, part of the Clan Zarkami would be transported by a Crevan smuggler by the name of Aslakhanov. This Tajara would promise to take them to Biesel, however, his ship would suffer an ambush by a rival family entering Ceti space would leave them stranded for a while, and an engineering emergency required the ship's engine to be repaired. Seznia would be asked for help on the matter, as all hands had to cooperate, and while she mostly observed the ones with actual engineering experience, this would encourage her to enroll to a technical school once they safely arrived to Mendell. What do you like about this character?: Despite some similarities with my other characters, I feel like she's the most unique to me. First of all, I don't tend to play female characters, and while her meek figure might be a cause of radiation, I think she has some 'strong woman' vibes with her, and I can picture her to have a heavy personality too. Secondly, I have no idea how to play engineering, so this would be my introduction to that department too, and it makes me excited. I'm hoping that, once I learn the ropes, Zarkami can become one of those engineers that do remodelations all over the station. How would you rate your role-playing ability?: A 7 today? Yeah, a 7 today. Bonus questions: What does Zarkami think about the Hegemony?: She doesn't really like it, but as her Queen, she tries to remain cordial. She believes their greed caused the war that has had a great impact in her life, but the solution for her would probably be Izweski recognizing the Queendom formally and leaving them alone or, even better, aiding them in such a harsh environment. This is probably a recurring theme with me but I don't like to make characters that become immediately hostile when they meet somebody of the opposing faction as them, as it feels like a caricature to me. I think she has mixed opinions, and while growing up she probably would've had a more warrior-like answer, wishing to battle, now in her 20s she opts for the peaceful resolution. What do I think about Unathi lore?: War! Betrayal! Nukes! It's really fun to read, and feels like an epic at times. I think you've done a wonderful job capturing the atmosphere, and I think the huge amount of Wastelanders onstation proves that the irradiated desert is an amazing setting. I'm a huge fan of wasteland stories, cowboys and such, and I love hearing and reading about people surviving in a harsh environment, and while I don't want to make Zarkami a frontier character, I would like for her to tell stories about her life in Moghes. What do I think the Unathi lore lacks?: I've said it to Haydizzle and on the discord before, I think expanding of the kingdoms before the Contact war, as well as on languages, would be a really neat addition. I'm glad the loredevs are interested in this too, and agree that in a future something about it should be implemented. I like the Skrell lore and Tajara lore solutions for an universal language for their race, but something about Sinta'Unathi and Sinta'Azaziba doesn't quite convince me. That's just my two cents. Notes: nothing else for the moment

+1, I would hate to see Kathira out of job and love her autopsy reports.

IIRC you cannot use the machine while on a wheelchair, although I may be wrong. I know you can't with other similar devices.

I like it, and I picture it would be even more useful in NBT, because I don't think everyone we encounter will be antagonistic and most will just require aid from the Aurora.

Then it's all good. Imo it's still of poor taste, and I would avoid it (unless to dispose a body or something more flashy like that). Thank you everyone for taking your time.
