In just a few months you've accrued far far FAR more notes, bans and finally this permaban. What has suddenly changed? Your track record indicates that if i lift this ban you will just do something silly again and get permabanned within a week.

Here is the unban request OP made. They created this staff complaint after they where informed a staff complaint is more appropriate when you are contesting the punishment. On your record i see two notes regarding end of round grief and using netspeak IC. Then after that i see a 24 hour ban due to joining as gordon ramsay and going WHERE IS THE LAMB SAUCE. You where finally permabanned the round you came back after your ban expired for the following reason. So, from ten thousand feet away it does look like you're just messing around and not here to RP seriously. Though it could be i am misunderstanding something. Can you give me some more information on why you held up the bar with a laser tag gun?

Shot caelphon, the skrell lord a DM on discord. This was his response Intuitively i probably would have made the same call @ShesTrying does but then again i know next to nothing about species lore. As far as i am tracking this is looks like its perfectly acceptable for a skrell character to know both xenoarcheology and bluespace manipulation.

Easy way to solve this, i will ping the current skrell loremaster and have them give their take on this.

Some thoughts. Breaking into places and stealing things is kind of par for the course for any antag. There is literally no situation in which I would tell an antag player "no you cannot break into that place and steal that thing". Generally this is done by very new antag players who just do not have the experience to formulate a good reason as to WHY they are doing the things they are doing. That comes with time. Similar line of logic on this one. When we look at bombs some factors we consider are "was this in a heavy traffic area?" "where there unexpected casualties?" "Was it a big bomb or a small one?". So as an example blowing up a welder bomb at the surface pool is absurdly easy to justify. A max cap bomb in the middle of medical lobby with 4 people in it is much much harder to justify. What kind of bomb was this? Where there any casualties? I do not completely understand this one. Was he a wizard or a raider mage? How did he accomplish this?

Doesn't look like it. I cant even find it by searching for key words of the logs, lmao. Its fine, its not relevant the issue and i can just assume it was said. I would still say your words here where kinda mean. Definitely something I would drop a warning for or other staff would. I am sure people exist that have said worse and did not get warned. We are not omniscient and sometimes no one ahelps and we do not notice it being said.

Alright, considering the totality of the situation here i will be applying a week ban. There are several egregious leaps here that just cannot be condoned. You did not ahelp the original incident, you spread a rumor that can and was pretty damaging to a player's reputation. You have to understand this kind of thing tends to provoke people into doing really dumb things in response, such as trying to doxx or swat the person responsible. You also did not really drop it when alberyk told you to. On the plus side it does appear you made an effort to attempt to retract the rumor you started. Whatever your intentions where in doing it are not really relevant, the fact remains you did it and i think its enough to kick a permaban OFF of the table here. With this i will consider the matter closed.

Also, two things i am super curious about @Estoytrucha . Why on earth did you not ahelp it originally if you thought Goolie's character had tried to "bully someone into his bed"? There is literally no grey area here. That type of RP is explicitly against our rules. Also when alberyk told you to stop spreading the rumor why didnt you just drop it? Why did you continue sharing it with people in DMs by your own admission earlier in this thread? Isnt that how this thing spiraled out of control originally?

I am seeing two claims repeated over and over and i do not really see any substance to them. So, show me some logs of estoytrucha being emotionally manipulative and of you telling them to leave you alone.

Ok so, before i go forward here i need to get a timeline of events here. I need either @goolie or @Estoytrucha to correct me if i am wrong here. 1. Sometime in early january Estoytruchas character approaches goolies character and lambasts him for attempting to coerce another character into his bedroom. Referenced by this screenshot 2. Estoytrucha shares this story with a number of players resulting in an IR against goolies that is only stopped once goolies is able to explain himself with other players backing him up who where present IC at the time. Goolies claims he did not estoytrucha was spreading this around at the time 3. Estoytrucha is noted by @Alberyk on the 10th of january 2021. 4. Eight days later Estoytrucha comes to goolie's DMs and apologizes over the whole ordeal and admits they where wrong to accuse goolies of this. Everything up until this point i think i understand. Its everything that comes after everything i am not super sold on such as 1. Estoytrucha attempting to be "emotionally manipulative" with regards to friends of goolies or people that both estoytrucha and goolies knew? 2. Estoytrucha continued spinning yarns about goolies or did not attempt to retract the story after they had told it to others 3. Estoytrucha would not leave goolies alone, approaching them IC with "hi goolies :)" and things like that. Its hard for me to rule on this without logs. At the moment i think i need some things cleared up for me. Maybe its in this thread and im just missing it? Feel free to banish my ignorance.

Yeah I do don't worry, I should clarify when I say "clean" I mean "relatively so". Your forum warnings are roughly 2 and 3 years old and you have exactly two notes between both ckeys as far as server stuff is concerned. So, with all of this in mind while I do think the behavior exhibited here is not very cash money I think a warning here will suffice on your Carpe Venenum ckey. I am not very eloquent when it comes to these kinds of things but I trust you understand what I mean when I say "Man, chill please". Just try to be a bit more cordial in your interactions with the community.

Alrighty, i will number each of your seperate sources and give my opinion on each of them. Then we can go from there, please feel free to dispute anything i write here either of you. It seems to me you have a total of FOUR total sources Source 1, February 16th. As far as actionable conduct is concerned i do not really see anything wrong with this source. I mean i have had my fair share of semi-heated arguments on the player discord. Its a little difficult for me to grasp the nuances of this particular lore argument but as i understand it nienna is the actual authority on the subject. Source 2. February 21st. This one definitely has some issues. I would say carpe venenum definitely started off very rude and it seemed to immediately put danse on the defensive. So much so that he privated the original document that was brought up. Definitely not very cash money of carpe though i will say he does seem to aknowledge the behavior he exhibited there was not cool and apologized. Lets see if a pattern develops. Source 3. February 22nd. If i am understanding this correctly it seems omi brought up a particular lore topic that carpe venenum has written lore about. Carpe believed omi to be mistaken on a particular point and got very snappy with them. I have to say i do agree with this assesment. It does kind of feel like a "gotcha". Here at the end we see another apology for the behavior. I am not necessarily saying whether that is good or bad just that a pattern is certainly evident now. Source 4. March 1st. I think your assesment of carpe implying your proposed changes are malicious is fair. Carpe, i mean maybe there are nuances to this discussion that i am missing but i cannot see how reducing the number of sub-species by making IPCs modular instead is trying to be sneaky? What would be the underhanded goal there? It does seem like a bit of an attack. So, @Carpe Venenum i do not want to insult you or talk down to you or anything. I do not really think the integrity of your apologies need to be questioned here. It does seem like you have this habit of going really hard at someone, apologizing and then doing it all over again later. I think it is fair for me to say and evident this behavior rubs people the wrong way. As the lore discord is an official part of our community we do have a vested interest in curbing this type of stuff. I do see your record is pretty clean. Can we take steps in the future to be kinder to the people in our community?

You have the privilege here of looking back with hindsight. in 2017 IJ was still staff and wanted a neat place for a few players to RP in more relaxed and text based settings. It seemed like a fine idea at the time and that was as far as "official aurora oversight" needed to reach. The overwhelming majority of our staff at the time could not or just did not take part in the forums and the player discord. I was not really interested in adding new duties to people that they did not really want to do and contribute to burnout. Over time our sense of community has evolved, we had a kerfluffle with ancillary and "affiliated discords" and of course the whole spectacle that was the thunderdome (which i removed after listening to the team). "The aurora community" of today seems to encompass more than just the server itself. What i mean by that is a lot of players interact in aurora related matters on other discords like the security discord and the relay. The last thing i want to do is swoop in and try to take over everything. At the same time i think some consistency is required. As i understand the only "official" discord we have is the player one. I have always had staff permissions on the relay and so did abo when he was head admin, i just have personally not really focused on it at all.
