Can you detail a recent non-canon event that you had problems with? What specific traits do these rounds have?

I am afraid this is fairly straight forward. Your discord picture contained obscene content, thus you where banned. It is very bizarre to me that you did not just use a different picture if you truly did not want people to see the swastika.

Alright i just want to say that releasing bees into the brig is really god damned funny. Unfortunately it is a pretty textbook definition of griefing, how minor it ends up being is not really relevant. There is not really much else i can say here. All i can really tell you is save things like this for when you get antag.

Alright, alright. You gotta admit though it looks pretty bad from where i am sitting. After reviewing some new evidence and doing a bit more digging i dont think your intentions where inappropriate. I would post it here but like some of the other screenshots they are private in nature.

Let me just go down a short laundry list of all the important points made in this thread. I have spent a number of hours reviewing all the screenshots, logs and evidence provided to me. I have read all the evidence posted here more than once. Is it ok to play a problematic character to the point of upsetting people? The short answer to this question is yes. The longer answer to this rightfully demands an explanation. menowns character is accurately described as homophobic, transphobic and generally not as progressive as most crew who find themselves aboard the aurora. A number of screenshots are linked here in this thread detailing interactions menown's character has over the relay and the general radio on station. They generally follow the pattern of someone bringing up the topic of relationships, homosexuality or transgenderism in some way, shape or form. Menown's character responds with "can we not" or "can we please not do this". Then of course either or an argument starts, or other player's characters insult him. That of course is justified. I think its fairly reasonable to say that menown's character is engaging in transphobia and homophobia. I am not a trans person. I am a straight white male and I cannot pretend to speak for issues the LGBT community faces. I imagine your existence as a member of this particular member is constantly challenged. Either by a good portion of society who think being gay is immoral and all transgendered individuals are mentally ill or your loved ones who think you are "just going through a phase". Oppression does not always come with sticks and stones. It can come with smiles and nice words. Do you mind "cooling it" for thanksgiving with the family? Why do always have to make this about politics? I’m just trying to help you. Again, I can only speculate but I imagine oppression felt by our players mirrors the kind of things menown has said. Hey, do you mind not being gay at the dinner table? Can you not bring up your trans stuff at thanksgiving? I think I can understand why this would be upsetting to people. I have always felt in my tenure as staff here that we have a duty to the rules. We should the kind of rules that foster an appropriate environment. It should enable our players to act in good faith and should always be what we use to assess a player's actions. It is impossible for me to create a consistent framework by which we analyze the harm done to an individual by actions that are not against the rules. If this is all this complaint centered on I would lift the ban right now. Unfortunately, there is more. First I want to explain a little bit of how our philosophy works. Let’s say we have two players new to the server. The first player joins as an engineer during deadhour and fixates on the lofty goal of setting up the supermatter engine. Unfortunately, the player makes a few critical mistakes and the engine starts to delaminate. Nobody is around to help him, and all the available staff are busy playing warhammer 2. The engine explodes and an emergency shuttle has to be called. Do we ban this player for causing an extreme amount of harm to the rest of the server? Of course not. He made a mistake, a genuine one. He did not intend to ruin the round for the rest of the player base. He was simply trying to learn. We can teach this kind of player and thus we are very lenient with this type of player. Let’s move on to the second player. This player joins in much the same way and also decides he is going to set up the supermatter. A similar series of events plays out. The engine starts to delaminate and the emergency shuttle has to be called once more. Luckily this time a particular admin had just been caught in forced march by grimgor's WAAAGH so he rage quit just in time to notice the ahelps pop in from the engine exploding. He PMs the player and asks what happened? It’s generally assumed engines explode as a result of an accident. This player however responds "FUCK HRP YOU'RE ALL SHIT HAHA I HAD FUN SEEING YOU KIDS RAGE". He gets banned. Do not pass go do not collect 200$. These two situations are similar in that both players caused the engine to delaminate. Both players caused the round to end pre-maturely. An equal amount of harm was done in both cases. The deciding factor and what spared the first player was intent. The first player did not intend to cause anyone harm and the second player did. Thus, he is a griffon and we ban them on sight. I apologize for such a long-winded explanation of why we ban griefers but i want to be thorough here. Your intent, menown I believe is inappropriate. You yourself admit that you portray your character in this manner solely to bring attention the lore and to motivate change. I do not think you can in one sentence claim this and the next sentence say "well its just roleplay" when players tell you it upsets them. You're tacitly admitting to upsetting people being the goal here. You're attempting to generate outrage, controversy and opposition in the hopes this particular piece of lore is changed. This is far outside the established bounds we have of altering the lore and it is disrespectful to the team that writes the lore. Essentially, your intentions are inappropriate and you are playing in bad faith. I am afraid that based on this alone the ban is legitimate. You where on your "last chance" after your last permaban.

Can you tell me what exactly IS this lore that you have a problem with? I dont know anything about cats. Also, some logs have been shared with me that are of you. In the screenshot you claim "My intention isnt to drive people away but to drive people to come out in opposition in what i feel is something largely useless in our lore". It seems your character is causing harm to others in the process. What are your thoughts on that?

Alright, i will ask @Snakebittenn to explain his thought process for this ban as well as any logs, notes or things of that nature that can help establish a track record here.

Its hard for me to have an opinion here unless i see what was actually said. @Snakebittenn @Menown if you give me the game ID i can look at logs.

@HunterRS You're named as an ancillary in this complaint. Can you give us your perspective here?

I have a particular concern about you coming back to the team. I have never had a single problem with your skills as a moderator or as an administrator. They where always excellent. I do have a problem with your attitude towards me. Sometimes i felt you where making some pretty snide and mean comments directed at me spawning from your disagreements with me. I think it is pretty fair to say that you and i have had a large number of disagreements over various issues in the years. I do think at times you let your disagreements with me color your attitude when having a conversation. I do not have any logs or screenshots because i never gave it too much thought until now. It is just the general impression i have when recalling your past conduct. I want to be extremely clear that i am not demanding you "respect my authority" or anything cringe like that. I just want you to feel like if you have a disagreement with me we can have a reasonable conversation about it. I understand i always have the card of "im the boss" but you're on the team because i valued and i still value your opinion.

The HoS. the HoP and the captain have always spawned with some form of a laser or taser in their locker. Thus we have always allowed them to have it on their purpose. The RD i believe has a flash in his locker and is of course allowed to carry that. HoS's get the lions share of this deal as their locker comes with most of the stuff an officer could be expected to carry plus a disruptor pistol. They have always spawned with a laser device in some form or another in that locker. We have literally NEVER allowed people to get additional weapons or equipment from the armory without a good reason. This is not some new policy we made up to spite you. It is how aurora has operated since i have been on staff and probably even before that i would suspect. There are ways to do this without making yourself better equipped. Have your officers patrol for worms, send in security officers to escort engineers who go to fix hull breaches because you definitely know by know thats how the worm gets in. Even when the worm is burrowing through the ground you can see the impression it makes as it travels through solid rock and metal. A phoron worm does not just suddenly de-cloak from invisibility and crit you horizontal such that the only thing that could save you is a magazine of lethal rounds. On top of this alberyk and i have already provided you with reasons why this line of thinking will NEVER be permitted. Thats correct.

If worms attack during the round feel free to go and get lethals. We have not and never will allow players to carry weapons "just in case". It was standard issue with rubber rounds. We have always bwoinked security officers carrying lethal rounds for no reason. We will continue to do so. I think it is different. Setting your blaster to lethal requires a conscious choice, by default it is on stun. The assumption being you do not switch it to lethal until you have a good reason. In the case of lethal rounds you where carrying them before you had a good reason and as alberyk explained to you being attacked by phoron worms is not a good reason. Stretched to its logical conclusion that would allow any crew member who was attacked by the worms to be allowed to carry guns at any time on extended.

As it was explained to me in an ahelp with all three of the cultists + campinkiller this is what happened. The cultists geared up with what makeshift guns they could and their cult swords. They entered security with the hope of converting people (just the detective at that point) or stealing the loot from the armory. As they where doing this the HoS spots them running down the hall toward him. Naturally he pulls out his gun and opens fire on the obviously hostile group of cultists. Unfortunately they manage to chase him down and cut him to pieces. Valid salad all around. It will never not be bizarre to me that people genuinely come out of these situations thinking they "died without any RP".

I would not be a good clown dev if i followed a format.
