It must be called IC with the means available to you. If an antagonist has sabotaged your attempt to call an ERT or you just physically cannot get to the authentication devices then that is just how the cookies crumble sometimes. Deciding whether or not to send an ERT with a fax as the only way to summon an ERT opens up an enormous can of worms a gigantic head ache i do not think we should be dealing with as staff. I am much more willing and able to punish players who abuse the function to call ERT for bad reasons.

Calling ERT to supplement your security force is kiiiiiiinda powergamey in my opinion. I think it should be discouraged and used when you physically cannot handle the threats to the station. In a perfect situation though im making a lot of assumptions. I am not really keen on a time limit though.

Pretty much this. I think the key words to use when deciding your antag story are "opposing force". You're generally expected to create conflict in some way but there is no server against peaceful antags. You also have to consider different perspectives. Just because you personally had a negative experience with a round antag does not mean they are not trying. If we are talking about an individual who legitimately surrenders and then gets thrown into the brig for the rest of the round i can see that being an issue. This specific example seems to have other perspectives however. In summary this specific issue must be dealt with case by case and with soft hands first. I am incredibly reluctant to tell people they have to play a certain way.

Staff policy up until now has simply been to STRONGLY DISCOURAGE IT. I know i have outright told a few no when they asked if they could just play as their normal character but as a space wizard. I feel its counter productive to the intent of the role. Are people really doing this a lot to the point we need a rule over it though?

sorry for the late response. A lot of this seems like new information. I do not recall you telling me anything about him insulting you. I nudged this particular person into a healthier way to play however so i am not entirely sure what else there is to do for this incident.

So in summary at least two of your points are completely valid and we have taken steps to ensure they do not happen again. The points being the way datberry handled your issue and the way not_megatron spoke to you. Datberry issued you an apology on the unban appeal and we have have given a lecture to mega. I think alberyk's communication with you is a little more reasonable though. Its not really an excuse but we deal with a lot of engine saboteurs so some assumptions where probably made incorrectly. On top of the other experiences you've have had i dont blame you for being frustrated over that as well though. Is that the bulk or is there anything further [mention]Jetniss[/mention] . I do not really mind the "charged language". I am just interested in the points you're making.

Sorry xander when you originally came to me about this i reckoned it sounded like a suggestion. Exactly where this thread is put is not super important though as the message is still the same. I am most partial to this idea though. I think arrest warrants are pretty important and they have gotten a lot less cumbersome now that we have a holo warrant projector. I think security is a department that needs communication greater than any other department. Warrants force a little of that communication since even OOC i am interested in security being able to prove a thing happened. Warrants add another layer of protection against problematic security play and i think it will help enforce a more healthier way to play. Obviously nobody expects a warrant if you witness the crime.

For starters it appears the ban appeal you linked actually ended in your favor and datberry apologizes for how he handled your issue. Datberry is still on trial but mistakes are still mistakes. You have mentioned alberyk specifically here so ill have him post his thoughts. Not_megatron was also reprimanded for his coarse language while dealing with one of your original bans over a suicide. Also i will check through the unban appeals you made for logs.

Datberry i think you where being unfair to xander. If you actually told them to recite to you the definition of powergaming and then tell you how they broke then i hope you will steer the conversation in a healthier direction next time. As far as the call itself goes though i really do not see an issue here. The changeling was aware you where giving weapons to security which is his direct opponent. The changeling then instigated a scuffle over a weapon which ended in you fleeing from being shot with a lawgiver. Notice how he didnt just pull out his weapon and gun you down. He escalated it from non-lethals to lethals. I also think it was fair of him to not chase you down and husk you. I assume he was quite capable of doing that.

Then why was he joining as a surgeon like breh there is a medical trainee job,and clearly you don't care about beeing typecast if you played a botanist an earlier shift,so learn the game before taking the important slots,like imagine if he was like an atmospheric technician and there was just a blowout or if you didn't have whitelists and he just bumblefucked around as captain Intricacies of the game he just doesn't understand yet.
