[Resolved]Staff Complaint - Garnascus
Garnascus replied to Crozarius's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
My reasoning is pretty simple. A vampire needs blood to do anything. There is an "emote" of him sinking his fangs into you when he does it. Generally a vampire needs to lure someone secluded. That doesn't need to happen when the vampire is in complete control of the station. He took a little of your blood and then went on his way. Thats really as far as that particular interaction needed to go and its super silly to decry "heavy RP failings" because i didn't have an issue with him doing it. Also the antag did actually drive a story. You wouldnt know that though because you only seem interested in YOUR interaction. -
Server Culture and its Effects on RP and Power Gaming
Garnascus replied to Bygonehero's topic in General
This is definitely something i would take issue with. I have to know it exists first though. Generally staff only react to things instead of being proactive in looking for abuse of the rules. The latter is hard to do on a consistent basis. I guess i have never really thought about the problem though. It doesn't help that almost all of the jobs and mechanics in this game suffer from "you either know how to do it or you dont". Medical surgery essentially boils down to clicking tools on someone in the right order. Obviously we understand things are much more difficult than they appear but perhaps the batting line has shifted a little too far. Telling just one person they need to expunge some character knowledge is usually a harrowing ordeal. occasionally it ends in a staff complaint. I can only imagine what it would be like if told a whole bunch at once that they need to forget a large portion of their skills. Maybe softer hands could provide a solution here though. thoughts? -
I am afraid that is not gonna happen. "avoid" is pretty clear language considering what the words actual definition is. Some rules can be bent a little depending on the situation. this isn't one of them. I am going to consider this resolved and it will be locked and archived in 24 hours.

[Accepted] Unban request for ISplendid
Garnascus replied to Splendid's topic in Unban Requests Archive
yeah why not. I will give you a third chance. Please read the server rules and at the very least do not do what got you banned last time! -
look man. I would love to tell you we are omniscient and always catch things the instant they appear. sadly that is not the case. So yes you might get away with playing a reference name for a good while until a staff member finally notices. Its hardly our favorite rule to enforce but its a rule for a reason. it seems to me your character name was a pretty straight forward reference. Nothing much else to say here really.

[Resolved] Staff Complaint: OneOneThreeEight/Scheveningen

i think your evidence is tone policing at best. Delta rarely lets it affect his decisions. Sorry but you do not get to bait someone with false evidence and then go "but look at all these OTHER examples". I do not think any action is needed. I am going to shelve this in 24 hours. -

this is not going to turn into a shit show. First off i would be extremely pissed if someone came at me with unfounded claims in a complaint they should not even be posting in. Sure i might not call you a "fucking degenerate" but you would earn some choice words. "fuck off" being some of them. -
All i am really interested in here is the warning. As it stands it has been expunged from your record and a note has been added detailing this complaint. It will not be held against you in the future. I am going to consider this resolved and lock and archive it within 24 hours. Delta gets plenty of complaints but its actually rare for his actions to be overturned.

All these arguments about "collateral" and "borgs are costly assets" boil down to one thing. its the captains call to make. He is the highest authority on station. I think delta's arguments have significant flaws. The knowledge about the nuclear device on board the station is literally one of the captains most important duties. Its existence is a very closely guarded secret. It implies that nanotrasen is absolutely willing to kill every last person on the station should a threat arise that cannot be contained. That judgement call is left to the captain. ANYONE shouting that particular secret from the high hills could be silenced. It is absolutely a good enough reason to blow up a borg. Now lets examine the text of the warning itself. I will just go point by point As i have explained this is absolutely a good reason to blow up a cyborg. As arrow has testified there was absolutely enough time for the roboticist to escape harm. Therefore the injuries he sustained where his own fault. Delta, in this situation, you interpreted the events wrong, and what should have been an IC issue got a warning. No command staff do not neccessarily need to play the correct way. That is mostly because past a certain point the "right" way to play relys on the judgement of the player. That is why we have the role whitelisted. I think that if someone can provide a cogent line of thought on why they did what they did then we shouldnt dig too deep. At least in situations where the collateral is avoidable and the reasoning is evident.
-
Umm I care! First off i am fairly sure that borgs beep pretty loudly when you blow them up. I feel like as long as the collateral isnt purposefully extreme we shouldn't really care that much. Purposefully extreme collateral would be like throwing a max cap in a crowd to kill one guy or something similar that results in multiple casualties. Fourteen people got hurt because a borg actin a fool and we are worried about the collateral of one persons hand?

Oki doki i examined the logs here and found absolutely no evidence that alberyk was metagaming. Of his 15 or so aghosts during this round not a single one of them was from when he was playing as kielo. First off here is what an aghost looks like as far as the logs are concerned. They appear this way due to some inconsistency with graylog that skull is going to fix. In the future we will be able to see JMP coordinates. The Ckey of a player and alberyk's IP address have been expunged from the screenshot. Alberyk has a string of these with his first one at 23:01:09 and his last one at 23:28:06. around a thirty minute period. He spent this time handling various ahelps while he was recovering in medical. He succumbs to his injuries and joins as S/Tpr Kielo. Now what would be suspicious is if i saw a whole bunch of logs looking like my above screenshot except with S/Tpr Kielo in place of Landyn Schofield. only a single admin log of alberyk exists while he was playing as S/Tpr Kielo. He edited a players notes due to an issue around the end of the round. I believe every point the OP has made has been sufficiently debunked. I take accusations of staff abusing their powers very seriously. I will consider this matter resolved and lock and archive it after 24 hours should nothing further be brought up. -
i really miss being able to make an IPC on station. i support IPCs being construct-able with positronic brains.

[Ron] Dislocated jaws and 'improvements'.

Prate your synthetic agenda is pretty obvious here. IPCs dont have jaws. ...then again neither do diona. Good change imo! Shitposting aside it sounds like a neat change if its feasible to do. -

As an american i understand and recognize every individual's right to post anime memes. I never meme someone for it. Unfortunately shadow owns the player discord. i think its silly but memeing egregious shitposting is fine.
