10/10 death destruction and dying for the phoron company by inhaling ignited phoron while being e-sworded by the phoron breathers

Absolutely deserving of the position, immediate appointment and transfer of our domain http://wetskrell.org/ +1

It's an host configuration, no coding required, just Arrow has to change a line in the config file, and at the next restart it would be in.

I am more in favor of reducing the probability of ling being rolled, than outright removing it from the rotation, simply due to the breaking of the repetitiveness of the other gamemodes there are. Surely, it's monotone to see it roll once every 4 rounds, but once every 50? 100? I think it could work that way, and if it doesn't, we can proceed to pull it out of the secret rotation afterwards.

Agree in the general sense, but keep it being policed aggressively. The announcements must be equated to the descended word of the lord and you only have three way out of carrying them on: IC justification (this would get me killed, I'd rather resign than doing this / this is literally worse than death, my character would rather suicide instead of living in/do this / the announcement was clearly wrote and meant to be understood as hijacked), residential lifts, and an ahelp with confirmation if the announcement breaks some rule (being difficult to carry on, being a stupid decision for the SCC to make, being boring/overused/repetitive and the likes are not); likewise, delaying with no good reason the execution of the announcements should be treated the same as metagame it (you know OOCly that the round will end in N minutes and this will not be canon after, ICly however this is your new reality)

Vhuck it. We ball. Vaurca Lore Deputy Application
Fluffy replied to whitewolftamer's topic in Developer Applications Archives
This application has my +1; while it does not align perfectly with my opinion, it's insofar the closest one -
Keep meteor, if people vote for something, that something should be what they get (unless it literally crash the server, legal reasons, yada yada)

What is your opinion on factions on the more "evil" side of the spectrum (eg. Lii'dra, SRF, ATLAS)? Any plan/direction on/for that front? -

They have the general direction of being direct (though to different degrees) for a simple reason: I do not enjoy beating around the bush, in fact I find it very annoying, so I don't want to do that, it's simply not an enjoyable experience to play that way, for me Me and Duthco have talked, at the bar (with Baral and Philo, respectively) about Philosophy over multiple rounds, resuming the conversation as it was left in the previous round. Baral and Johnson (Warden) went for the better of multiple hours discussing similarities and differences between Sol and Gadpathur. Baral and Eva (Investigator) talks about whatever while at the Bar Baral and Boris (Officer) talks about Tajara culture and history, he even introduced him to drinking the victory gin, which he picked up CL is a completely different character, it does not debate, it just offers (often made up) insights about what it's being told, it's also very incapable to understand social clues, and a very different character than Baral (as noted by Ricky) My CMO is a Psychiatrist, it's far more emotionally expressive and tactful than either Raccuso is all about socializing and having fun My Diona Warden would never touch a weapon unless it has no other choice, and avoids all possible conflicts it can And so on I am not sure what you exactly mean by "having depth", so I am not sure if this addresses that point, but Military edged and objective oriented, I do not believe that's the case across my character, I do concede they are direct because I find not being direct unenjoyable to play, but that's just a common trait in an ocean of differences, from my perspective I was advised that I should avoid fronting as an HoS unless absolutely necessary? I absolutely avoid questioning what the announcements contain, they are the way (IMHO) that the antagonists use to set the "background lore" of the round, and pay a rather hefty price to do so. Unless the announcement is clearly written to be interpretable or questioned, and unless there's a consistent body of evidences to invalidate what it says, for that round and in my opinion, it should be almost treated as the descended word of the lord himself. You have, for sure, witnessed me saying no and questioning them, the least when they said (in the famous teleportation to the future gimmick) that they wanted to requisition the IPCs, I put my foot down and said that it won't happen, and suggested another solution. I have drawn the line, told the antags where it is, and let them decide if they want to cross it and rev up the hostility or not. If there is no reason to say no to something, it should be said yes, as Garn said, saying no is pretty much the worst thing you can do, it's a big game of improvisation, and you should be looking for any reasonable way to say yes as long as it doesn't break the rules Why would I want to say no to something, or make it so it's only done in one way, without a reason to? What is there to lose, if they decide to approach it one way or the other? They don't need to be optimal (and in fact, I believe a lot of times it's counterproductive for them to), a (non canon) round needs to be kept on the binaries so that it doesn't become a frustrating mess, but apart from that? Be my guest, I will try to give you as much freedom as permissible, have fun.

The reason for that is pretty boring: I am typing a long message for someone else I am talking to, either in person or in another channel; I tend to write by double-checking what was said (thus scrolling up to what I'm replying and/or re-reading it), going back in the message to expand or rework certain parts to make them more clear (or unclear, depending on what I want it to do), and that takes a little bit of time. If the questions are urgent, I abort the message I'm writing as soon as I see the question and reply back to it, otherwise I prefer not to, and I queue the question up and reply to it after I'm finished typing. At other times, other questions require additional information to be answered, or someone else's perspective to consider, so I have to ask and get the information/opinion myself back, then reply to those. It is also a nice way to give antagonists some leeway, the opportunity to take the initiative, do something interesting, or escape. While it would not make sense to order eg. to not handcuff the guy you saw with a blade running at 00.30, it makes sense that the response is delayed so he can bug off before we turn the round into glorified extended. What I'm saying is, silence is also a tool. Lastly, as a person with HFASD, sometimes I just need a moment to reorder my thoughts if I am doing something and get suddenly interrupted by something else, especially if there's many consecutive switches. This is expected, I want to leave as much freedom as possible on how to approach a situation, so my orders are more towards the general aim/direction end of the spectrum, rather than towards a detailed step-by-step instruction list on what to do exactly (unless there's a particular need to, but it's rare).

I was playing in this round as a Commander, so I believe I can offer my perspective, if not, feel free to delete this post. As soon as the mercs came aboard to "inspect" us, I have received an order to treat the intruders as boarders, despite noone having seen them yet and thus ICly unknown if they were armed or not, though it's permissible to presume as such in my opinion, and ordered to arm up to deal with them. I have armed up the officers and made my way near the bridge to talk with the mercs, at which I got a message on the command channel on the lines of "Treat them like boarders" (I don't remember the exact words, but the sense was that), and it was around 00.35. I have then attempted to clarify that they didn't seem hostile and that it would have been a very dumb idea to start a war in hostile territory with no backup, the corporate representative was agreeing with me, and I think @LordPwner (which was the XO) too. The Captain wants to burn for a nearby ports, and says to tell them to go away, and we will head to the nearest port. In around the same time, we also receive a ghost role (gunboat) holocall, which the Captain uses to "confirm" the year, I make up some bullshit to indicate that it's not confirmed (along the line of "their clock would not be updated like ours"). I don't remember exactly the proceeding after that, but we sent away the Journalist and some other non-security non-medical members (which I would have preferred not to, because they would have been able to see a bit of the gimmick, but since it didn't made sense to say no to the request ICly, I had to go along with it), and got soon after another message on the sense of "what do they want?" (suggesting that they were being considered hostile boarders even before knowing what they were here to do), to which I have relayed the intentions of them back to the Captain (which was something on the line of inspecting the vessel, IIRC), got an answer that I think was on the line of "no" (I am very unsure about this one, given I was talking with the mercs, security, the passengers, and command at the same time), to which they demanded to talk with the Captain. I have relayed to the Captain the request, to which I got back that they didn't speak Basic, the XO offered to translate and I have relayed the information that they do indeed speak basic (suggesting that there was no attempted form of communication whatsoever, besides the hailing, I think). The Captain comes out, the XO alongside, they talk with the mercs for a little, then move to the meeting room, the mercs go in, the Captain goes in, an Officer goes in on the side of the Captain, I stage the rest of the Officers outside the meeting room. Some talking back and forth, in which I step in two or three times to suggest some agreeable solution (like the use of a different port) because it was IMHO derailing towards a bloodbath, and it seems it's more or less stable, we're around 1.20 into the round I think? Then, an IPC walks in, in which they point weapons to him, but ultimately let him go, stow the weapons back, and indicate that IPCs are an illegal technology. I do not remember them saying they have to die, but I remember them saying they would have to requisition them; The Captain says something on the lines of "Not gonna happen", and I interject once again, indicating that they are essential for the operations of the ship, but they will not be allowed to leave it, as a more agreeable solution, the merc asks something on the line of "do they cover essential positions?", I reply with yes and some back and forth, the mercs say they would allow it but they would have to be secluded to the Brig. At around this time, the Captain says something (in reply to something else I don't recall) on the line of "You're not gonna leave here", and something else that I don't recall apart from it feeling very hostile, at which point weapons are drawn, I order on comms to be ready to scramble, then someone (I think it was a merc) shoot, at which point there's some shots exchange, I open the meeting room door and order on the comms to scramble in, but it doesn't seem anyone of those outside the meeting room has clicked yet that we're already shooting, so I run in with the shotgun that I had left, get shot once or twice (which fucks my arm), run back out and open the door again. One of the mercs screams to cease fire, which I order too on the comms, but it doesn't seem to reach everyone, so I repeat it screaming too. I see a BC and the XO on the lower door still shooting with a carabine for some other shots, then one of the mercs go down and screams "Kill them all!", to which I order to neutralize the hostiles, open the door again, and run back in. I aim one of the mercs with a recovered shotgun (that turns out to be empty and not mine, or mine but expended), he stands back up and shoot at us, I try to shoot but it's empty, I order again to move in and secure them, in the meantime one of the mercs stands up and use some grenades before being contained/killed, the remaining hostiles are handcuffed, medical rush in, every one of them but one dies, I get hauled to Medbay where I find the Captain, and the rest is pretty much irrelevant for the complain I believe. My opinion is probably not worth much, also considering I'm a trialee, but I do believe the initial requested escalations were unreasonable; though, I believe permissible - if premature and sudden - the one in the meeting room.

I have communicated a great deal with the department, informing about the proceedings of the gimmick, relaying calls for dispatchment, informing people (we have a fairly new roster) of what treatments to apply if they looked stuck, production of the medications, and so on, if you interpreted it as being an "absolute authority", that's your interpretation of it I guess, but that was not what I did nor intended, in fact I have handwaved far more than other CMOs would have, such as the funny Varuca Psychologist doing social experiments with a xenogun. Never threaten anyone with failure to execute an order for disagreeing with me either, I have charged one person for tripling down alongside another charge (because it would not have made any sense to only apply one of the two charges), and it was not disagreeing either, it was actually doing it, then tripling down and earning another charge, and it should be pretty clear that I had no wish of charging him with failure to execute an order in the first place, it just didn't make sense to go along with one charge and make the other, which is the cause of the later, to not be added too.

Ballistics can pierce canisters and tanks, something you do not want to happen to the tanks in Atmospherics, given they contain a huge amount of gas at high pressure, and one of them is nitrous oxyde, which would flood the ship and put everyone to sleep, furthermore, the initial position was understood as behind the glasses, so lasers would have allowed the destruction of them from a safe position (excluding the beams of the beacon). The hivebots would have been shot from behind the glass, west of Atmospheric Tanks. There were people with eyes on them, and 6 hivebots + beacon reported, that would be a hivebot and a quarter per officer, not to mention the Engineers, so a fairly easy problem to solve. In the meantime, I had to respond to other requests, in particular that the ship was being hijacked, so a hivebot and a quarter per Officer was not my priority for attention. I have requested a mere apology, to which he doubled down, then I have suspended him (which is not a permanent record), to which he tripled down, hence he was charged, and I stand by that decision; I have no interest in filing a player complain, but do note that the use of slurs it is deemed against the OOC rules too, hence the least I could have reasonably done is charge him, which I did. Also note, the order to use energy weapons is neither a psychological nor a physically harmful (more than usual for hivebot huntings) one, nor it would make sense to open a discussion about that when hivebots are well known to be deadly, amounting to an average of two deaths since when the tickrate was fixed, and their number increase by the minute.
