"Daily Life of Engineers" | "Security vs. Nar'Sie" | "The Captain's 'Loyal' Members" | "Miner's Hard Work" are some good ideas? -

Have AI intercoms have mics off by default.
UnknownMurder replied to ben10083's topic in Completed Projects
This is my opinion. I'd like the intercoms to be on. I don't see this situation happening too often that requires programmers to pour their time in to turn the intercom off. -
Community Discussion: Multiple jobs - Job hopping - Realism vs Gameplay
UnknownMurder replied to Faris's topic in General
I shall deliver my opinion on only one thing that has bothered me throughout this month wherein increase of players going up to 70+ and that would be job-hopping across the departments. We currently have enough people that I know in which job hops from warden and roboticist, from security officer to paramedic, and station engineer to medical intern. We should not encourage people to job-hop to a two clear separate qualifications that does not best connects with each other. I don't mind taking enough jobs within the station, hypothetically a surgeon still shouldn't know how to clone people but then we have this same surgeon saying that he was a medical doctor and claims to know cloning due to his past experiences. Obviously, to pull a FULL STOP on this will make both the victim and operator disappointed in the ruling. But, an atmospheric technician and station engineer (and equivalent jobs in same position as station engineer) are acceptable as the work with each other is closely related but differs in expertise. To summarize, it only depends on the expertise closely related with each other. Same thing for ERT & crew. I can say this for big companies that little jobs are best reserved to civilian AKA "trash" while Command staffs AKA "1st estate" gets all the good things. I don't see why big companies will let a Captain become a bartender wherein human resources will determine he is best working elsewhere but some people would just rebuttal and say, "I'm just doing this for fun, lol. This is my casual job." A CEO or Captain wouldn't degenerate itself to a low level. I believe I covered my opinions on the three points that Aboshehab has made. -

[Denied] Coalf's Head Lore Manager Application
UnknownMurder replied to Coalf's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Before you read this whole paragraph, under no intention do I mean to campaign smear and call Jackboot or you a terrible person and undeserving this job because this and that. You and Jackboot are equally wonderful people because in which here. I am more concerned about your strengths and weaknesses. As this is Coalf's application, he will be evaluated whether he can perform this duty in which is unlikely will be accepted as because this is as it appears to be extreme stretch from a non-development player to head lore developer. Coalf, I can imagine that most of us can say that it is very courageous of you to file directly for Head Lore Manager whilst knowing many obstacles will be thrown at you. I honestly cannot exaggerate enough of how surprised and lighthearted I am to see you still standing strong, despite the negative criticism in this application. Because of what I've just seen in comparison to current Head Lore Manager, I am inclined to stand with you on this part and this has my praise. It is to my belief that the leader's social status and public relations with people requires a heavy responsibility and burden to put up an illusion smiley face in the public's eye (not goody two shoes) as you taken on any leadership responsibility. However, Jackboot has made many successful achievements in his work as Head Lore Manager and knows his work force and probably has an agenda for people. Similar to Shev's negative criticism, I'll be nicer and try to appear more positive and Negative Nancy. I can take this for granted as that you may not have the knowledge of how things work and flow in the lore department directly under Skull. Do I mind about this application? No. I believe this is beginning of to a great start. Am I worrying about you taking on too much burden to carry for the sake of Aurora, taking too much time of your free time? Yes. As we know it to be, everyone does not have unlimited time and will inevitably fade from this server soon which brings me to ask you these questions summarized from what I've just discussed. . Will you have the sufficient time to handle three responsibilities: Moderator, Whitelister, Lore Dev Manager? If so, are you absolutely sure that you will be determined to invest your time and care in to the lore? Other than what we just witnessed here, how you respond to negative criticism (not counting meme question/statement/proposal such as "What does X's sexual genitals look like?") What are your successful achievements as a regular in this community? If this application is not accepted, what will you do? . I'll be honest and be non-serious for a moment, I thought this application was a meme. -
I don't pay attention to warnings when I call Central Command through emergency message.

My thoughts? The rest is fine to me however synthetics shouldn't be able to fax to Central Command for obvious reasons.

Re-add radio muffling when someone is either weakened or handcuffed.
UnknownMurder replied to Scheveningen's topic in Archive
How would you propose to implement that? Force the game to replace everything after 10 characters with '-arrgh!' when someone is injured? I cannot answer these questions because I lack programming knowledge in BYOND. These were merely my spit-balling idea & example to support Scheveningen's idea. It does not have to have "-Arrrgh!" or "-Auuugh!", it was my merely point of view of how that can make the roleplay story interesting and suspenseful. -
Farewell.

Re-add radio muffling when someone is either weakened or handcuffed.
UnknownMurder replied to Scheveningen's topic in Archive
I am willingly to support this suggestion. It is already proven difficult for the antagonists to attack a victim. There are cases where victim upon being attacked would just suddenly call out for Security, then providing the location and name and thus either completely destroying everything that the antagonist had severely fought to stand for and or not. A hypothesis inspired scenario by HIDEO KOJIMA This is what we have right now and is extremely common. Snake McAntagonist says, "Hello, sweetheart. Kindly follow me into this dark and creepy maintenance. I got something to show you." CP McVictim says, "Sure. Why not." Snake McAntagonist fires revolver! CP McVictim was hit by the bullet! !!! CP McVictim shouts, "; SECURITY! HELP! SNAKE MCANTAGONIST IS ATTACKING ME IN BAR MAINT!" [145.9] HQ McSecurity says, "Got it! All units, search for Snake McAntagonist and valid this fucker!" Snake McAntagonist hides in a cardboard box for the rest of the shift. What we want to hope for. HEL-AGH!" [145.9] HQ McSecurity says, "This is HQ. CP, respond!" [security Channel] HQ McSecurity says, "All units, enter alert status!" Snake McAntagonist hides in a cardboard box and wanders around. -
3rd best CCIAA and Research Director. I can accept this.

Anything is possible. It's a bug, as this was something that was not occuring before (items were always above consoles,) now, items and IDs are fucking impossible to grab sometimes just due to a shakey mouse, to the point where I usually need to use ALT to view the entire tile to grab an ID after updating it. Please make consoles spit IDs back into your HAND when you eject them like it used to be. In agreement with Xander here. I do know it was possible that items were able to be above consoles, although it might be easier on people for consoles to be spitting ID's into your hand.

My Story: Roleplaying with antags and roleplaying with Security as antags has already become difficult for me. You really don't know who will start the issue or to even escalate it. I do remember a particular round with my security department including Mcspizzy and myself as Head of Security were sent to rescue Captain Eleanor Shen (Azande) who has been taken prisoner by Nuke Ops. I hop into teleporter and call my security over. I initiated the RP discussion with "Why hello there!" to not only meet my but as well security's fate of beheaded by Security and Captain's death. Azande had to tell me to man the fuck up and attack them with a minimal amount of roleplay in deadchat, none of the Security Department were salty because we all knew that this may have happened as we already knew our death is inevitable. My opinion: To tell people to roleplay with antags/security and be lenient with each other is easier said than done. How I see the first contact between antag and security is basically The Cold War's Arms Race to me and see who will be the first to attack. The ugly truth is no one wants to die and "lose" against either security or antags. All the players are thinking, you must fight just to stay alive.

I feel that throwing the sign on the wall is good enough to tell general people not just to waltz pass this drawn line. It's better than writing a new directive on station directive. We don't need to append a new amendment to the constitution for a little thing that has batted few people's eyes. I'll admit it, I've waltz in and no one cared that I was there because I was out of people's foot traffic, not hindering or causing people troubles. Most medical bay staffs are just too nice to take action on you or doesn't want to risk to be arrested for dealing with a trespasser by force and would rather someone to handle it. Trespassing cases in medical bay would be between uncommon and rarity. So far as I remember, I've been called to deal with a hindrance person in medical bay once but not for trespassing.

Incog's Tajaran Boogaloo
UnknownMurder replied to incognitojesus's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I see you are willingly to drop your high school as the longest ongoing player without a whitelist species and I will claim this status. *cue evil chuckles* IncognitoJesus is one of the best roleplayer that Aurora Station has gotten and is my second most respected ex-staff (first being Serveris). He knows how to handle situations well and know difference between what is a good roleplay and what is a bad roleplay. I have interacted many of the times and was able to produce a good RP result. IncognitoJesus will surely not put the Tajaran race into bad light and is eager to continue this. If you can read this, help me. I am being bullied by IncogntioJesus. You're my only hope. +1 -
[Resolved] DasFox revhead complaint
UnknownMurder replied to sdtwbaj's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
As a Research Director and Head Revolutionary, I had no problems with DasFox's announcement and was able to use this escalation toward to my advantage, though I supported the announcement. I should say that this was not a middle finger to me. Ironically, revolutionaries are the one giving middle fingers to NanoTrasen. In the end, the majority of people had fun. I do recall Alberyk being involved in this discussion as sdwtbaj attempted to cuck the announcement by going along the lines, saying, "Oh. Sorry. We had a racist assistant on the comms. My bad. Please ignore the sounds of us beating the racist." This certain announcement was omitted by Alberyk. Everyone joined in on the announcements which later in the end, "Kill all xenos". Because of the chaos that was occurring, I was able to take advantage of this and establish my respect and command in my research department. I like to say that DasFox did a good job of sparking a revolution. The loyalists hardly converted anyone and had only Captain and perhaps Head of Security himself. Many people have enjoyed the round. This complaint is just a complaint that DasFox went to a route that OP didn't like and wanted to go through a different route regarding equal pay for all that hardly have any effect on people in the round. I do not believe that DasFox has crossed the line of OOC rule-breaking but he sure as hell caused us a headache ICly, it was interesting chaos. EDIT: The two loyalists just sat around and did nothing to build an "army" while the revolutionary were building gigantic army.
