  1. After some conversations on the relay, and some suggestions made by staff to make a thread about this to garner some feedback, I've decided to make this thread now (after another staff member suggested wait this out a couple of days for a possible response or input by the staff team). This thread was a response made to an IC-made message made on the relay server, which sparked a conversation that itself lead to the creation of this thread to put something, which I believe, shouldn't happen. Due to the nature of setting, the threats the crew face are considered a ship-wide threat, meaning even those down in the residentials decks are alerted of this incident and could possibly face ramifications depending on what occurs above. It's a nice way to remind people that the residentials themselves are a location on the ship, where progression and character engagement can still persist. Which it does, with the existence of the Relay Discord allowing people to play their characters "off-duty" and sociably within their quarters . However, once in a while these events also make headlines within the relay ICly, and sometimes that leads to implications such as these: The message implies the establishment and presence of a security detail on the residential decks when NO such department or detail exists, let alone existence of some weapons stash or depot that could justify the organization of one: https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=SCCV_Horizon#Residential The residentials also prohibit weapons carry or storage of any privately-owned firearms, so even without the lack of a proper "resdeck emergency armory", there would still be nothing to fortify any defenses with in the emergency of a hypothetical "residentials invasion": While the message itself does not make any suggestions nor mentions of combat (thankfully), there have been talks that this has happened before in the past. It doesn't change, however, that it goes against the established rules regarding residentials. There is no security department down there, and there are no implications that command may continue to assert authority downstairs when they're not assigned sa the ones top deck do (hence why an off-duty command character cannot assert their authority when on-duty command is present at the time, or at all for that matter.) It also implies that players can assign their characters within the residentials with some "essential role" (Aka being "the commander present and active on the residential decks". It suggest players not directly participating may still assign their characters with a significant enough role such as being part of an off-screen security detail on-standby, when othing stops another Command character from proclaiming the selfsame duties. In my opinion, this smells of snowflakism (No disrespect towards the player who wrote this. This may as well have been an unintentional implication.) That's why I believe a rule should be established to prevent the Relay from being used as some platform during events where characters could make (outlandish) claims of off-screen participation with a (somewhat) significant role (lsuch as preparing or taking part in a defense against an off-ship threat during an event) when they were NOT even part of the actual event taking place on the server/occupational deck. This could be solved by eliminating the suggestion that residentials can form a "defense"against any threats. These are the responsibilties and duties of those on the occupational deck, where the ships' ONLY armories are present, and should remain as such.
  2. The ccurent changes feel like a step into the right direction in theory, but in practice I've noticed little change in the gameplay loop on a surface level. I share most of my concerns with Carver here that the recent addition of Horror form by points obtained from killings are what probably intencivize people to reapplay the old gameplay style, but I also understand that ling partially relies on the "body horror" trope that very much comes with its gruesome killings. I think I'll have to stick with the original proposal to temporarily remove it from secret and keep it storaged until a complete overhaul can be done.
  3. BYOND Key: rickymadenson Character Names: Eva Meier, Gjeong-Ja Lyang , Shane Halevy, Sumire Agard Species you are applying to play: Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Kochiba colour Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes, I’ve made sure to read the lore page carefully as recommended by other Tajara players since a mere explanation wouldn’t do it justice. (And they were correct, it was QUITE the essay) Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: The Tajara are a species I’ve also had a mild fascination towards for their history reflecting a rather dark side of their Human counterparts, where biological factors like ethnicity and one’s blood effectively decided their role in society, from hunter (M’sai), to workforce (Zhan-Khazan) to even Rulers (Njarar). My favorite bit of the Tajara is also their current situation. The planet is by the Spur’s standards, a “mess”. It’s a singular planet divided in several planetary nations which all ideologically oppose each other (the PRA and DPRA’s emphasis on “the will of the people'' but both having different interpretations of how this dream is to be realized) and the NKA which still holds on Adhomai’s tradition rooted in historical context of blood and nobility. They're also a largely understood species to their alien neighbors, with Humans most notably making false comparisons between their worlds, and allegories that don't fully relate to the Tajara's struggle on Adhomai. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: (One Paragraph minimum) Large reason for what helped differentiate this species from Humans is their divisiveness, not just among themselves but in their greater part in the Spur’s history. Their homeplanet is the product of prejudice, and ethnic stereotyping resulting in centuries long social-ethnic castes preceding over others, which after all these years bursted out in possibly its most violent series of wars yet, and with the establishment of a completely unique government in the form of the PRA and DPRA. On the other hand, Tajara seem to be incapable of escaping the struggle of being judged for what they are, be it in Sol with the Tajara bans as a result of bad apples among the many who sought to work and earn their keep fairly, to even in the “heart of diversity and opportunity” that is Biesel, where Little Adhomai continues to be tied to its roots and the reflections of their root culture continuously expresses through its daily life, as well as the violent gangs that control its streets. Suffice to say, the Tajara also contain many cultural and morally opposing views from most of the other Spur, to the point that their views on ethnicity and the roles they play are expected to be fixed (with even some notable, controversial opinions in regards to the roles of the sexes and non-traditional identities). And with all that, the Tajara in general continues to be an enigma to most of the Spur, oftentimes finding themselves mixed up with their rivals. Character Name: Aymarr Aj’rabi’trir Please provide a short backstory for this character Aymarr, one of the earlier additions to the Aj’rabi’trir family, a typical Hharar family, was born in 2410 to a low-middle income household. His family made a considerable living off of hunting and butchery. His father worked in the meat industry, taking part in traditional hunting parties to collect meat to accommodate the more culturally traditional rural folk. In truth, his family lived a fairly decent lifestyle in the far reaches of the Khazan tundra. His family of S'rand'marr worshippers largely believed in the role of the community in daily life, working alongside the other townspeople by offering meat produce services through traditionally prepared meat, ensuring food was ready for the festivities and contributing selflessly to those in need for as much as the local count permitted. Due to his family’s long-established faith in S'rand'marr, Aymarr initially aspired to one day reach the ranks of the Sons of Dawn, Having acquired literature from a sympathetic acolyte on a pilgrimage passed the Mountains, Aymarr’s exceptional intellect served him in deciphering and understanding the core beliefs of its worshippers in a theological sense, but it also made him question the overreaching presence of the Nobility and their harse authority. Despite his growing loathing at the division brought by the nobility as well as the local count’s questionable decisions burdening the townsfolk with taxation, Aymarr followed the rest of his kin with a relenting that would only boil as time went on. In 2428, Aymarr enrolled at Kaltir Law Academy, hoping particularly for a degree in Philosophy and a minor degree in Law and Criminality. He had long since abandoned the dreams of becoming part of the clergy after witnessing the signs of brewing tensions sparking through his stay abroad. The continuous, albeit silent harassment of his Njarir peers had also made him question the faith’s strong promotion of selflessness and community when many in campus barely shared the selfsame kindness. However, the most shocking reveal that shook apart his beliefs apart was the emergence of the Alien visitors that greeted Adhomai. The existence of these advanced, otherworldly entities tore apart his worldviews that were constructed by his life in the tundra and the limited educational system. He had grown to believe that Adhomai was withheld from a potential equal, or perhaps even greater than, their alien visitors so long as the nobility selfishly withheld its people’s potential through ethnic limitations. He would be one of many to heed the call to rally shortly after his graduation, partaking in the battles on the side as a revolutionary. However, due to his inexperience in warfare, he would instead partake in various guerilla attacks and gain experience in urban warfare as he fought along with fellow militia and the more organized Hadii-led military forces. While initially skeptical of a Njarir noble-led military force fighting on the side of a revolution, decade long combat and their impressionable feats during the campaign had gained Aymarr’s respect. He bore witness to the stratagem in full effect, and its efficient use of extraordinary weaponry, thus realizing what future could await Adhomai if the chains of the Nobility were severed for good. After the First Revolution, Aymarr became a citizen of the newly-established People’s Republic of Adhomai, and moved to Nal’tor to be closest to its heart. He joined the Hadiist Party in the hopes of assisting in the shared dream of a new, powerful modern nation to ALL Tajara. He would also enlist in the PRA’s Grand Army, becoming a part of its 37th Division 14th Brigade as an infantryman, and he would deploy his familiarity in urban warfare and guerilla tactics to provide needed reconnaissance. While his status as a party member exempted him from service, Aymarr believed in the defense of the state against any enemies. In the meantime Aymarr enjoyed the privileges of being a party member, marrying a librarian he had met during one of his brief stops at the state library of Nal’tor. The events leading to the Second Revolution came as a shock to him. He was swayed by the words of Njadrasanukii Hadii, having attributed a bitterness towards the Zhan and genuinely questioning whether they suffered from an “inability” to restrain their “violent” nature, a stark contrast to the more hopeful young man he once was. The outcome of the Second Revolution and the existence of the DPRA was the Republic's greatest mistake. He regards the DPRA in both its name and execution as a farce intended to fool its masses into believing its democratic system is intended to benefit them, whilst the opportunistic junta persists and continues to be a potential threat. Regardless, they hardly outshine the true threat that exists in the form of the NKA, a Kingdom so decrepit and representing everything he loathed about the “old order”. However, Aymarr remains optimistic about the future of the Republic and the Party, and in due time, both the NKA and DPRA would wave the flags of Adhomai’s destined government. Aymarr has long since retired from active duty, and began working instead as a politician in foreign relations. He believes that it is the PRA’s future to guide Tajara across the sea of stars, and he would want for their neighbors to know so. What do you like about this character? What I’ll enjoy the most about portraying this character is part of his theatrics while portraying himself as a diplomat on behalf of the party, while balancing out the decrepit old fool that shamefully hides behind it all. Deep down, he longs to see the dream of a united Adhomai in his lifetime, but the recent shock of the Second Revolution has since shattered that dream. He portrays himself as the friendly uncle any citizen can confide to in need of help, but he is not afraid to handle that which proves a threat to the People’s Republic, the Party or his fellow comrades. Hopefully he can be a nice bridge between the Crew and the PRA, therefor reminding them of what the PRA stands for while simultaneously having some thoughtful interactions with fellow Tajara, or even rivalries with those of the “Nobility’s last stronghold” or “the Terrorists”. How would you rate your role-playing ability? A 8/10
  4. Hi there. In any other situation I'd agree that simply coming from a direction is not enough, but I should reiterate again that what truly tipped them off was the abrupt silence of the "Heads of States voiceovers" which immediately occured after Johnson was being reprimanded and demanded to return to the brig by the commander. The direction he came from was considered a possible lead, but all and all, at the time was only deemed suspicious. Investigators are there to connect dots that would otherwise be easy to miss for some crew, and the immediate resurfacing of the warden after the voice-overs died out was a cause for suspicion at least to Eva. If he had just been in the washroom in D3 security, it would have been whatever and at the very least, but the distance and convenient reemergence aroused suspicion in the first place. Impersonating Heads of State with with a voice changer is quite a serious deal, though at minimum one could argue that it is hooliganism when done out of some immature reason and I'd I agree, However, what ultimately made things more complicated was the PDA revelation that demonstrated that Elwood established contact with and met up with a known criminal who at the time was assisting with/organizing a conspiracy with other crew. Elwood was basically believed to have been part of this as well. His notable absence from the brig and communications were noted by both the HOS and Eva through PDA communications as sec radio at the time was indeed chaotic. On the topic of the Vulture suit, declaring there was no ill intent with the Vulture suit likely would've worked had it not been for the reports stating he presumably fled along with it or tried to use it at some point for nefarious reasons, which is what was told to investigations shortly after the alleged push-and-flee happened. I'm not saying that pushing and fleeing is not a realistic response to being prodded with a stunbaton mind you(those things hurt after all), but the context that a baton was brandished (and used) completely unknown to Eva nor my character for that matter, all they knew was that they ran. I was not the one who issued the charges or made any recommendations at least to my recollection. All I've stated through my character were the place that Johnson had come from, which was not enough yet until items were later found though that was quickly uncovered to be belonging to Sarrj. After things got further suspicious, she made sure to check the D3 stalls as well which had shown that Sarrj and Elwood had been in that room before, granted it was not enough for an arrest, but enough to warrant a search and possibly an interrogation as well to get a further explanation. I had no knowledge of any weapons or batons being brandished during a search, and had this come out with nothing much, investigations would have likely kept focusing on the more pressing matter which was Sarrj. I was explicitly told that Elwood "pushed" an officer and took off, which I interpretated as him fleeing. I do not recall receiving a message of Leonides stating they had Johnson was completely in the clear, hence why upon meeting him downstairs the disruptors were brandished. All and all, I think the charges likely came from everything that was relayed thus far, including the revelation there was at some point contact between Elwood and Sarrj, which is why he ended up being charged with charges originally meant for him and his co-conspirators. And again, the original intent was to have you sit down and possibly get an interrogation going on, but then things spiraled out of control when officers had to apprehend Sarrj (who spawned a bunch of clones to fend them off), Eva checked to see the source of the gunshots and ended up assisting in the fight against the clones, and reprioritized looking for another else that Sarrj could have left behind. If it was indeed me acting on either misinterpretated messages or receiving disorted information, then I'd like to apologize that. I've had no intent of actively wanting to ruin the experience for you nor anybody else. I simply acted on the information I had and was provided to me ICly and did so ICly.
  5. Hi there, I'll try to be as abridged and descriptive as possible on the events on my own personal account of how things happened. I was a latejoin with Eva Meier within the 1 hour mark, when I heard reports of a supposed diplomatic incident, as well as reports of two state leaders conversing over comms and being supposedly mad a "Chernov" (there were 2 and the messages had me lost on which one was mentioned) had allegedly said something that sparked outrage in the Emperor of Dominia to the point that the Plutonian party chairman had to chime in afterwards and ask around for this individual. it was a bit absurd, and even in comms there was some allusions that it could be some local radio station taking the piss out of the shuttle. Overall, it didn't seem like many took it as serious so it was whatever. However, as time went on, we received reports of infiltration occuring on the bridge by a Skrell janitor, as long as a tip that a device referred to as a "power sink" was being deployed elsewhere. Eva went to take a look at the D1 substation next to the staircase to find two engineers atop of a restrained G2, who immediately confessed they were being ordered to by same Skrell to commit these acts on their behalf, and also provided information of a secure channel that was being deployed by the men to keep taps on each other. Leonides, the commander at the time, was also present and a theory was quickly developed that a conspiracy was being conducted on the ship by crew members. Security was quick to find out that Sarrj the Tech Support was going around giving heavy sums of money, and while this initially wasn't that suspicious (since assumptions were made that Sarrj simply had the means compensate people as someone of nobility, even though he technically is not nobility as he's expressed many times), it was later on revealed he had made contact with some of the perp's and was likely part of the conspiracy as well. Moving on to the point where things escalated with Sarrj, which also inavertedly led to the point where Elwood Johnson became a suspect. Security was requesting assistance from the warden at the brig to manage it, and Elwood was being quiet. At first its whatever, because sometimes things get delayed or lost in the flood of messages. Admittedly, the sec radio was quite a mess and people had to repeatedly ask for their orders or specifics because everytime they did it would be drowned out by other officers asking similar questions. Moving back to what got Johnson on our sights was the fact that after a couple of requests, he finally responded with a clarification of his absence on being that he was in the bathrooms, which is fine. However, what clued in that something was amiss was that the voice-overs abruptly cut off upon the moment the Commander issued a quite heavy-handed order as his presence was needed in the brig. This abrupt cut-off was also accentuated with an audible emote over comms. Eva made sure to contact Rammstein over PDA, as radi communications at the time were such a mess, expressing her confusion about Johnson, to which even Rammstein noted having some distrust brewing towards his warden, aka Johnson. I was being told that Johnson was going to get frisked and checked by security, so I went back upstairs to run forensics on items that were found in the crew lounge (hidden in potted plants) when an officer came upstairs and literally told us the man pushed someone aside (dunno if they resist walked into someone or actually used resist push) and then allegedly bolted away which only incriminated him further in Eva's eyes. Bare in mind, at the time I was going to run read the print-out of the items i had recovered from the crew lounge. This didn't pinpoint anything prior, but it looked like the commander had already made up his mind about distrusting Johnson. Eva was also informed that Johnson allegedly had a Vulture suit on him as he was "fleeing", hence why the comments about him running off with a Vulture suit became so present among the security staff. After that happened, Martinez returned to the forensics lab to hand us the wristbound belonging to Johnson, which revealed that he too had established contact with Sarrj and met up with them in the crew lounge area at some point. Forensics at the bathrooms near D3 initially gave the same impression as prints and fibers were found belonging to both Sarrj and Johnson which was now being handled as evidence that they at some point could have crossed paths. The intent was to eventually interrogate him as well, but at the time the round turned out to be ending (Too much was happening to even recall a crew transfer vote having happened tbh), and at the time Eva and Clark confronted him about this their minds were made up that he had reportedly ran off before with the Vulture, only to come return seemingly with no hostile intent to downplay his actions. This was at least the reason mostly why Eva had her disruptor aimed at him, and mostly saw his intent mostly as faux to make himself appear less involved. At the time, nobody had told investigations that Johnson was to be ignored or let go off. All, atl east from Eva's perspective, she knew was that there was a dead IPC on the floor, and Johnson was there at the scene once more. He did state that he assisted security, but at the time she had no reason to trust him still as it was just his word as a suspect. I believe most of the call-outs later and the limited response aside from a quippy"Sol bad" remark was due to after the fact shenanigans with Sarrj who was being apprehended, only to result into a fight against his psionic duplicates (which nobody knew was the result of psionics at the time.), so at that time Eva was mostly fed up and focused on finding out more clues on what Sarrj was up to, hence the tunnel diving. The charges were being put down on him by the commander and an officer (who notably had to ask several times what they were as they had not much of a clue either, again likely due to the chaotic communications over seccom.) Eva continued looking for anything else related to the Conspiracy case, while earlier on she asked Coldsmith if they could handle interrogations. The actual arrest and processing happened in the middle of crew transfer, so there may have no been enough time after the sec officer handling the processing did not seem to know what charges to apply on Johnson, which only delayed the process. All and all, I cannot speak at all for what prompted Clark Coldsmith's personal actions nor shed alot of light on @DrPockets's choices on how Coldsmith should react. HOWEVER, what I will say is that whatever he based off of the case was largely based on information that Eva had uncovered as well. I believe most of the responsibilities or whatever decision is being made should be directed at ME alone. Granted, I do not think I overstepped my boundaries as a player, and made sure that Eva's responses were entirely based on information provided within the round. Granted, I will admit that communications was a mess, and I've done little to contribute to fixing that problem for the team as a whole, instead having Eva simply directly message people to get things done since it seemed like the more likely method for her to get a message across, hence why she PDA'd Leonides. I also want to address the suspicions of OOC singling out as well. By NO means were any of the decisions made in-game based off of OOC information, nor was it an attack on you OOCly as a player. I hope this clarifies everything from my perspective, but if more information is required, I'll try and offer as much as I can. o7
  6. Having gone through the abysmal round where a ling abused adrenal gland to its fullest potential whilst going about murderboning everybody, wheter they shot at them or looked like easy prey, I can't help but agree. While I'm a huge sucker for a "The Thing" style of suspense and horror, none of that was present in that round, and what lingered of that atmosphere died off when it further escalated down to a goon-server level of "KILL THE ANTAG" shenanigans. All of the above mentioned points about the limited options and continuous repetition is something I am intimately familiar with as someone who regularly plays in Investigations. When the ling dies, and security secures the body, Investigations will typically be the first (victim) to witness the resurrection, and while I've had no qualms of embracing (potential) death from the murderous, eldritch, shapeshifting horror, I barely feel that atmosphere. Instead, most of the times I've personally experienced dying to lings just so they could get there "ez" genome points, ignoring my messages as I try to RP as my character's "lingering(heh) memories". I do what I can to feed the ling information to masquerade as them when needed. Now, do they actually use that to their advantage, attempt to manipulate my character's friends and former allies? No. They don't even use it to sneak out pretending to be my character. They just break out the old-fashioned way (by using my ID, changing to lesser form or armblade use), depart, and resume to looking for more kills to probably get their horror form and go on a murder spree, and frankly I'm getting tired of this. And yet, despite all that, I can't imagine this being entirely on the players if almost EVERY ling resorts to this strategy. What sounds like partially a player issue (And believe me, part of me still believes that sometimes its the player can be held accountable) seems to be stimulated by the tools and limited options that the gamemode itself provide. Vampires at least can get some bobs and twists turned upside down, and many fantastic antagonists have proven this. I've yet to see this come anywhere close when it comes to Ling the gamemode. I agree, Ling needs to be shelved for the remainder of time until one day (a group of) coders decide to look into the gamemode and consider drastically changing it to match the tone of the server, and give it the well-deserved make-over to bring TRUE HORROR back that doesn't equate the horror of "knowing I have to wait for this body to get up and act all shocked when it tries to armblade me or a wall near me to escape." TL;DR: Ling sucks, shelve it. Perhaps one day a coder or a team of coders feel inspired (or get paid to) rework the ling gamemode to suit the server more instead of inspiring ganking. P.S.: I don't want any replies suggesting "alternative changes to the gamemode", suggestions to improve mechanically. They STILL require coding, which has already been confirmed to not be on ANY coder's agenda. I'm not a coder myself and THAT'S NOT WHAT THIS THREAD IS ABOUT.
  7. I've had the pleasure of interacting with both CL and Deshan, and I absolutely love Fluffy's portrayal of both characters. Despite being part of the same department, He's able to exceptionally portray the two as separate individuals puppeteered by the same player, which itself as good indication on the RP side. As for his command play. The few times that Baral has assumed interim were definitely fine in my book. He's shown leadership, and organization skills. He's communicative, and has shown awareness of the responsibilties that a command member should have on both an IC-level, as well as how they should assist in moving a round. +1
  8. Oolong is a delight to engage with on the server. Their characters are an example of a passionate desire to RP, from their backstories, recognizable mannerisms and quirks that they exceptionally express and naturally adjust depending on the circumstances thrown their way. As an officer, I've seen them handle engagements with antagonists delicatly to avoid shooting down their gimmicks (within reasonable boundaries). From the app alone, I am under the impression that they are genuinely interested in assisting the flow of the round as a member of command. They seem to be aware of the responsibilities this role carries as well! And while being a coder/mapper isn't a requirement for a whitelist, I don't think it is indicative of their dedication towards the server. Given them access to characters that could potentially improve the flow of the round would only come out as a net positive overall. +1 I salute to you, commander Kuhn. o7
  9. I've had the pleasure of engaging with the character "Broadsword" ever since I made my return to this server, and I can't give enough credit to his contribution to my stay. Ever since my PMCG rep has had several talks with him, I've had quite a fun time sticking around and watching the two characters interact and share their perspectives, one of them being an IPC worried abotu a lifeline as well as enjoying their freedom and having a conversationalist partner in the form of a konyanger who treats them like an individual that respects his contribution. I've noticed that the character's talkative nature extends even to other crew members, and he can be found occassionally having small talk with other crew besides the regular bridge crew. That aside, his conduct in-game in the rules as bridge crew and XO have been great so far. I fear that I'd simply be repeating what has already been listed by others in their feedback, but Broadsword seems to never overstep their line, and ensures rounds are kept in check by the best of his abilities. His coordination with departments as XO thus appears smoothily from my end. . I've yet to seem him immediately stomp down on any antag gimmicks, thus providing them with some room to do what's needed to keep the round interesting. I'd love to see the character stick around as part of the command team. Noble has proven themselves a great addition for command RP. Give this Broadsword his crown. +1
  10. Kind of hard to chime in when everybody has shared a similar sentiment towards Comrade's portrayal of a command character. He's shown exemplary command play, taking and receiving feedback from his department as well as others who chime in when an emergency or situation requries input from elsewhere. His management of the medical bay looks fine too from an outsider's perspective. Everyone appears to have their roles, and knows their positiosn without necessarily overstepping them from what I can tell. And the rare few times I manage to overhear the medical radio, his managing skills appear to be one of many reasons why. During crisis, he has shown to be willing to put Volvalaad in a tough position if it requires it so. And whenever Volvalaad assumes the liking of an acting captain, they stand by to assist departments, coordinate and most importantly provide each department with an interim (at least in security from what I can tell) to ensure there is professional, hands-on leadership. He has had several moments where his character was forced into this otherwise taxing situation, and has proven to be capable of handling them just fine without compromising RP. My experience with the character has been a delight. Like I said, Volvalaad has shown willingness to take feedback, but he isn't necessarily a friend, but he certainly is someone you can rely on during crisis. A stern figure, but with a heart at the right place as one would expect from a doctor. However, once the work and duties are cast besides, Volvalaad appears to be ineractive with the crew, engages in chat and even banter beyond their department. It's a nice little touch that reminds others that besides the command positio, there is a character to explore. I'm curious to see where this will go when he fully becomes a command, but so far? Give this champ that command position. +1
  11. Hey there! I saw this application pass by in OOC chat a couple of times, and noticed no one responded yet! I'll try to give my insights based off the character backstory as well as my experiences with one of your characters (most noticeably Rain Chevron) both ICly and OOCly. You've definitely demonstrated your understanding of Unathi lore here, and personally I like what I read! It shows a fine combination of intricrate Clan politics from the secession. I am curious how this near-heretical cultural and spiritual values might interplay and interact with the other Unathi who do strictly follow the mainstream church's beliefs. You also seem to understand the process for Unathi to join the Kataphracts, and rightfully implement the iniation procedures as well as proper ranks at that too! This is definitely looking promising. Here are some questions I have about Sithar: 1. Considering that your character is also dealing with the immense burden of being the member of an ostracized group of people, how would you imagine his interactions will be on the Horizon and your desire to introduce more of Moghes 'contemporary culture" on the Horizon? 2. Is it the intend to portray him of a victim of this clan and honour's system immensily pressuring enviroment trying to adjust to a more complacent new culture? Or do you intend to portray them moreso as a honourbound, overcompensating fresh-of-the-boat Unathi who tries to uphold his clan and home's cultural values to earn the respect of other Unathi on the Hoirzon, and deflect any potential doubts of his convictions, beliefs and honour? I'd love to hear more! 3. I also imagine that their attempts to become a Kataphract, and following the footsteps of their father, means that they will become a member of security? If not, is there any particulair department or job you intend to pick for this character? Right, so now comes the part where I speak of my experience interacting with you, and admittedly I am a little conflicted about this app when it comes to this part. One the one hand, I've seen you interact with people when it comes to you as an antagonist. You try to make it interesting, and I can recount a few rounds, one most notably being a changeling round, where you definitely try to amp up the creep factor with body horror emote antics to bizzare behaviour you'd expect some freaky predatory lifeform walking around in a skinsuit. Props for that! However, this is also where my problems come. So far, most of my interactions with Rain Chevron thus far, and that I have witnessed outside of it, have mostly been in antagonistic roles. I'm taking into consideration that your other character you've mentioned is fairly new, and to me they are pretty much an unknown, but this also goes for Rain Chevron. If I were to be asked to describe this character as an individual, I could not think of anything unfortunately. I've personally wondered at times if you simply used the character as a vehicle for antagonist roles, and while the concept of the "antagmain" is one that doesn't have to be negative AT ALL, it can definitely hamper people's impression of a character when all they know about them is that they are just some faceless individual until they have the special role. It's come to the point where I had become skeptical because whenever Rain is not an antag (and sometimes to me even when he is), he feels quite non-existent with limited interactions even over the security radio (when playing as an officer), only to reemerge later either doing their antags or simply feeling like a quiet shell. So I can't really +1 this one just yet, but I also don't think this is a -1 either. Like I said, you've shown your understanding of the lore, and understanding typically comes with passion and you have it. I just think that we first need to see more of what you are capable of outside of that. Either with a new character, or perhaps by having Rain interact with people more often as a non-antag. I am absolutely sure that this would get you alot of feedback coming your way that can either confirm your readiness to play a non-human species, or help improve your playstyle on the server which in turn will contribute favourably to your post as well. tl;dr Good Unathi backstory, needs more exposure with existing characters for people have a better idea of how you character RP. Neutral so no -1 nor +1 unless I see more.
  12. I may not speak for everybody here, but to most who have ahelped, I think they will find this anecdote familiar: You spot a player involved in some gross negligence in regards to the server rules, and ahelp this to a staff member. Maybe they had [CLASSIFIED] x10s in their records, or they portray a baldhead in a grey jumpsuit for the memes, maybe its an antag deploying powergaming tricks or metainformation is used by a fellow player to trick/trap an antag. Eitherway, you help the staff member by providing either logs, or pointing out what this transgressor has done to warrant an ahelp and the admin acknowledges your concerns and tells you they will deal with it. Then you carry on and wait 5 minutes, 10 minutes or sometimes longer depending on how much investigation is required by admins. All of a sudden, you receive a ping. Finally, the admin/mod has dealt with it --- "It's been handled". Says the admin, before closing off the ticket and leaving you in the dark. Meanwhile, you can see the transgressor happily walk by as if nothing happened at all, leaving you with no clue what exactly has been done in regards to enforcement. My suggestion isn't as big as my anecdote may make it seem, but my point is that I believe that staff should be somewhat more transparent when it comes to handling these types of tickets by offering a brief or short clarification prior to closing it. Don't get me wrong. I'm not asking every moderator or admin to end every ticket with a 200 word paragraph case report. However, providing players with closure would probably help relations between staff and players. This also isn't an attack to any particular staff member either. There are staff members who do inform players by ahelp what they've done, either by telling them they gave the transgessor a warning or a note, and sometimes they don't do it either. I think ahelp tickets need this type of transparecy to give players the sense that their tickets are taken seriously. If a player requests for more details, the staff member can always direct them to the forums/discord or simply refuse to provide more information if they deem it unnecessary. If anyone has any additions or objections to this, I'd love to hear it. I think a discussion on this matter would contribute regardless of the outcome to see how players feel about how tickets are handled.
  13. Fuck Desven, he massacred my entire tribe.
  14. While I see why one would want a command assistant/secretary role, I personally disagree with its implementation and I'll explain by using three specific issues that I find with it. First, let's talk about the elephant in the room and that is the role's accessibility. By that, I don't refer to their in-game IDs but rather what players could access this role. Is it a general role available to anyone who joins? Or is it a learner role part of the command whitelist position? If it's the former, then that could lead to some issues in regards to what sort of players could join with that slot. Sure, it's presented as a learner role so you could argue that mistakes could be dismissed, but what if the player who assumes this role has some malicious intend? The whitelist exists primarily as a means of quality control and a border that stops bad/malicious players from positioning themselves within key roles that could make or break a round, or worse abuse its access to for their insane griefing strategies,. You could argue that this can be prevented by limiting access to just the main bridge, but before I touch on that I'd like to move on to my second problem first. Secondly, the role seems unnecessary in the 'grand schemes of things', and it goes back to my question whether this should be open-access or a whitelist role. Now, let's assume the role becomes locked behind a whitelist, then its position and possibilty as a learner role is only accessible to those who actually apply and receive a whitelist trialship. Most people that take on the whitelist typically intend to demonstrate their skill immediatly through their intended Command role. Thirdly, the role could come into conflict with roles such as the Head of Personnel. According to the wikia and job description, the Head of Personnel technically and practically already operates as the Captain's second hand. Their job usually revolves on taking over priorities which the captain can (albeit within limitations due to their access and few radio channels). They have access through several departments, hold authority that should make issuing orders not so difficult. As I had mentioned before, the Command Secretary would likely be limited due to their ID access as well as their radio, and by that they would just proof to be an inferior head of personnel. Furthermore it could lead to secretaries overstepping their boundaries (if they are a non-whitelist position). It takes one captain/HoP to pass them a radio headset and update their ID, then issuing out an announcement or notice through several channels to inform them that "The Command Secretary acts as a Captain's stand-in and therefor their word is on my behalf". It takes little steps to easily override the roles limitations and make them into a pseudo-HoP or pseudo-Captain that could issue out orders at a whim, orders that a captain or hop could easily do themselves and share fairly among eachother. In conclusion. I feel that as it is presented right now, it's unsure whether the role is either non-whitelist or whitelist-locked. Firstly, if it were non-command it would turn the point of the whitelist completely upside down as a quality control/border for command-access roles, which could lead to issues within that department. Secondly, it seems the role is a tad unnecessary as a learner role when most command staff intend to assume their preferred Head role as interim anyway. Thirdly, it conflicts too much with existing roles such as the HoP, who could function already as a better secretary due to their access and authority. And finally, the role could effectively step out of bounds easily through a mere ID upgrade. The issue of players in-game being appointed and later on dismissed by command staff, in my opinion at least, has less to do with a lack of understanding on how to utilize them, but rather is a symptom that demonstrates their uselessness in the grand scheme of commands roles. Especially when this assistant could be anybody (assuming its non-whitelist), it would be a game of russian roulette on what this player's intentions could possibly be with this position. I have to give this proposal my -1.
  15. Reading it in retrospect has me agreeing wholefully here. I'd like to apologize @Royalanimal72 for the unneeded written assault of junk text added to this complaint. I'd like to just wave it off as a collective heap of frustration coming outwards at a singular moment, but naturally that wouldn't absolve of the accusetory attitude that I've displayed on it. And as a future note, I'll take the feedback into account and avoid "hostile filler" if I ever were to write a complaint of any sorts again.
  16. Hey there! As former staff member, I just wanted to say nice job for wanting to contribute to keeping Aurora an enjoyable experience! I've had the pleasure of encountering Rusty occasionally, and so far he's proven to be quite a character among the flock, in a GOOD way of course! You've demonstrated through your RP that you want to add to the server's atmosphere, and that's always a wonderful thing to see. Your credentials seem perfectly fine to me. Having some experience customer relations comes with some handy skills to apply in your moderation work (trust me, I'd know as someone who's worked phone service ;P). However, I have to share a similar sentiment as to the previous reply. It seems a bit too soon to be aiming for such a big position when you', and the server, have only been exposed to each other for a month at least. Most people who decide to participate or join staff-related roles tend to do so after several months once they've established themselves as a regular. Perhaps it would be a good idea to wait after like a month or two, ensure you firmly establish yourself as a regular member. It will also ensure staff that you are genuinely here to stay. Sometimes, players appear for a month and generate alot of activity to almost feel people into thinking they'll be lasting players, only for said players to find yet another server that sparks their attention and intrigue, therefor dissapearing. Overall, the decision falls in the staff's hands. If they don't mind that you've only been here for a month, then that's great. You seem like a chill guy with the "HRP" mindset from what I've gathered so far. So I wish you good luck on your endeavors to becoming a mod!
  17. BYOND Key: Ricky Madenson Game ID: cb8-dlYl Player Byond Key/Character name: Royalanimal72 / aka Kelvin Morris Staff involved: None Reason for complaint: Right, so my problem with Kelvin Morris is that he is this season's example of a non-character that solely exists to house the antag powers, and I will explain through the following recent round. I'd have almost mistaken this round to be an extended round, but somewhere midway into this round my character, Eva Meier, received a message from the head of security that some suspicions were raised around Kelvin Morris. Apparently, he was MOSTLY vacant from his job, and some allegations were thrown at him for wanting to injure/harm another crew member. It was taken with some lightness because we're supposed to assume everybody is here to work, and without substantial evidence security couldn't just run in and demand anything from them (even tho the HoS offered Meier all the means to investigate it). It's not until late into the 2 hour mark when things actually begin to transpire, and the worst thing is that it wasn't even because of his hands. Security was on the lookout solely because a helpful assistant tipped off that Buck Thomspon was missing from the sensors, as was Morris. Assumptions based on previous testimonies from an assistant who had seen the two before led security to the tunnels, where they eventually found Thompson severily injured. Security assumed quickly that it was Morris' doing, and fingerprint evidence confirmed this along with the fact that Morris started using his vampire powers to phase through walls and avoid security. He avoids, then proceeds to phase through the transfer shuttle walls while he can htich a ride with the shuttle back to Odin where he proceeds to use his phasing ability again to avoid capture...while being a space station with stricter security than even Aurora... The main problem with his playstyle is that it embodies a speck of what antagonists on Aurora are meant to be about; To create a compelling narrative that swipes in most people. Sure, the outcome and player feedback is subjective and can sway depending on people's experiences, but at the end of the day the narrative remains the fundamental part. Morris, however, has displayed little to no concern with upholding one and seems more keen an using it as an 'excuse' to go on antagging. How many times can people count up the times Kelvin Morris was found wearing highgrade armor while being on his way through the hallways (most likely to the bridge?). How many times can people count whenever Kelvin Morris refuses to do his regular job for 1 hour, then seemingly cryo's because, guess what, RNGesus didn't hand him his blessings for an antag roll this time. It has reached an excruciating point where anybody could meta if Kelvin is even within the vicinity of cargo to guess whether or not he's an antagonist. He does this the majority of times, and will use any tool necessary to the point of (borderline) powergaming to accomplish adding another point to his "win-ratio". After all, WHY ELSE would a wanted figure hitch a ride with a transfer shuttle a more secure facility other than to confirm his EoR survival (fled the station) prompt at the end of the round? Just to illustrate what I'm talking about, see the image below where he can be seen phased into a wall to avoid security capture while riding along. My suggestion to solve the issue is to hand an antag ban and force the player to come to terms that this server is more than just a "free game" for antags. This should provide him an opportunity to prove he is well capable of creating somewhat of an established character with a personality, aims and a presence that doesn't scream *ANTAG TIME*. Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? As all of this happened at the foot-end of the round, I thought it would be more appropriate to make this into a complaint in order to not delay the round. It's also a rather long going issue with the player themselves. Approximate Date/Time: May 20th, around 1:40 AM UTC + 1
  18. I'd love to see these aspects of Elyra's lore more fleshed out than ever. It's almost bizarre how one one of the largest independant space nations in our lore has been put in such a backseat position where it's almost left unmentioned or unheard of. I'd love to see its potential as its own living, breathing world come to full fruition through all these tidbits of culture and languages being gradually introduced, as well as the plans to develop a new world sound awesome! You've already tackled on the concerns in regards to some your past conduct, and I like to think you're genuinely looking out moderate your 'passion' as you put it. Passion doesn't always have to be a negative trait, as is shown by your ambitious talks on discords when it comes to our server lore. You've always come off as honest in your attempts to introduce concepts, and make talking points to address problems in our lore and its atmosphere. You have my +1. Glory to Mankind!
  19. I'll say that my first experience with Danse was neutral, to the point of degrading. Especially because of the concerns that people have shared. From perhaps misplaced jokes to seemingly passive-aggressive replies which might be the restul of mistranslation to text. HOWEVER, I will say that my opinion of him has changed tremenduously as time went on. I've seen him put sweat and tears in working on lore apps, PRs or at laest attempt to contribute to the server's lore and atmosphere. He really shows a tenacity to work hard for what he believes to be right, and sure what he might consider to be right isn't always what anyone wants, but with a competent team besides him I'm sure he could make additions and work around to get a middle ground sorted. He has proven to be a team player from my perspective. It may not say alot, but I do ask people to take this into consideration besides the opinions they may share of him. I'll give it a +1 personally. I'm sure the cons that have been stressed out thus far can be ironed out once he's made part of the team.
  20. Thank you for the endorsement, again! Well first of all, in regards to languages, I envision they would be somewhat reflections of their ancestors colonization efforts. Language is the number one gateway to immersing yourself into another culture, understanding it and adopting it. It will not make you a specialists in a thousand different (sub)cultures across the globe, but it makes a significant difference when you speak, for example, bahasa indonesia, when you move to Indonesia vs. when you don't. You miss out on emotional nuisances, gestures and customs. Language is a carrier of both the culture's history and its traditions, so I find it an important element to include (though given the work required, compromises can always be made to make it somewhat limited of course.) I used Elyra as an example, so let me expand on that. According to the wikia, Elyra is supposed to be a colonization effort orchestrated by Middle Eastern/Northern African countries, and as a result this cultural roots are supposedly traceable to this regions. All these regions deploy the Arabic Script as their writing system, which obviously is a long way from our Latin script. It affects the alphabets of these regions, their shared phonemes, their writings and grammar. It's quite hard to conceive how these colonists, or their descendants, would be perfectly OK with switching from this familiar system to one so distinctly unique from their own. It would be a loss of much of their language's intrinsique value, and understandably woudl make a hassle to adopt in a modern-futuristic setting where individuals are more open to criticism. Perhaps adopting bay's language system would be a step into the right direction, but naturally that would require feedback from other (species) lore departments as well before such a drastic switch would be undertaken. As for culture, I believe those careful nuances could be reflected into holidays. Perhaps the CoC has an "independance day" that could be celebrated, which would naturally upset Solarians. Otherwise, maybe Biesel should have a remembrance day for their first occupation (or the recent one given time). Little details like that could be impactful for rounds, from people arguing, to celebration among crew. Chefs preparing banquets, national anthems being sung aloud etc. I will get straight to the point and admit the original document was used for a server which was a bit more spicy (I'll leave the imagination of its origins open), so your assumptions were NOT wrong. Apologies in advance if it got you, or anyone else, through a bit of a shock there. The document was NOT meant to be my excuse or the skeleton key for a floodgate of content many would consider risqué. It was meant to be an illustration of my potential as a writer, a preview of what I can do or possibly could help expand upon, not to be my preemptive strike at an addition to our lore. We'll leave that stuff out of here. EDIT: I was made aware that one of my replies got removed, though the exact reasoning behind it remains unknown to me. I'll keep my reply to this response in tact, unless staff advices me otherwise.
  21. Thanks for the endoresment! First, I'd like to go in on the recent developments with the Alliance's fragmentation into smaller states/zones. I think the birth of these new lesser states could (and should) have a huge impact on how Solarians look back at their country, what new bloc they feel the most familiar with, how they look at the station's contribution to this etc. However, I will say that I do hope to give the Alliance their opportunity to "rise from the ashes" so to speak. I cannot imagine a timeline where the true SA would not at least attempt to reclaim their control over tehese loosely-affiliated "micro-states". Our lore has been quite adement on the Alliance believing its borders to be the bastion of mankind, and I anticipate that they will do whatever it takes to reclaim that prized title. Perhaps news articles on political reforms within the alliance, or news outlets that speak of talks between these states could be a nice hint at a potential renaissance. After all, the Sun never sets on the Sol Alliance. Then finally, we have the SCC. I believe the SCC is the next phase of the corporate dystopia that our lore is based upon. It is the widespread, galactic message from Big Five to everybody else that they are taking a political, almost militaristic stance as we have seen in the recent major arc. The corporations have send a clearcut message that they have the means to stand their ground in the face of a military power by deploying their trump card at the decisive battle above Biesel. Futhermore, they will be the face of the NBT arc that our server will phase into, so I imagine their influence and the interactions between the five megacorps will be much more prominent than ever before. Their separate goals and aims will understandably come into conflict with each other, so only time will tell us how this will unfold.
  22. -STANDARD TEMPLATE- Ckey/BYOND Username: Rickymadenson Position Being Applied For: Lore deputy Have you read the Lore Team Rules and Regulations wiki page?: Yes. I've read through the page and I'm aware of the responsibilities that come with this position, along with any consequences that might come as a result of misconduct or abuse of this position. Past Experiences/Knowledge: My experience is quite limited. I used to do text RPs and would occassionaly write sci-fantasy lore for it, but unfortunately those pages were lost along with my continuous swapping between laptops and PCs. One metagoal of mine is to obtain more experience through this role. Examples of Past Work (Please provide in a Google Doc or other easily accessible external link for sake of space): https://docs.google.com/document/d/16xVyypJ8Udpm0i0BbRs-tyE02TZSRJr-ujph-Ciabz4/edit?usp=sharing It is a WIP project I've been working on. It's entirely unrelated to Aurora, but it should provide an insight in what I can do. -HUMAN LORE DEPUTY QUESTIONS- 1). Why do you want this position? Why do you believe that you could be a better deputy than others? a. The reason why I want this position is because I like Aurora. It's a server I've been a part of for over five years and counting. I had the pleasure of working together with a great administration team, met countable people I ended up befriending, and I felt it was only appropriate I'd give back to this fantastic community in another way. Lore is a brilliant way to expand character backgrounds, provide topics for people to discuss in their rounds, perhaps use as catalysts for their characters' personal arcs or perhaps overarching stories through events! I am currently undergoign my first year as a History minor student in University, and wish to use my knowledge of the way historians write their works and research sources to help touch on the history of the Human race. I don't intend to make repetitions of history resurge into our lore, but I am a firm believer that History tends to have a habit of "rhyming" rather than "repeating", so with my growing knowledge I hope to nourish our lore with some tidbits along the way and of course, ensure people remain faithful to what is already established. 2). What are three things you enjoy about human lore? Why do you enjoy these things most? These should be ranked from one to three in descending order of favouritism. a. 1. Humanity's relatability. At the end of the day, we are all Human beings behind the PC. It makes it easier for us as people to connect to these characters in such a wide and contiuously expanding setting that allows for our characters to react towards. That goes to say that I'm not necessarily implying self-insertion here, but the ability to simply connect to a unique individual that we create to follow their journey with through this Universe. We are given just a treat of the character examples that we could base our next creations off, and I think with some additions to lore, we could expand this even more. 2. Humanity's diversity. By diversity, I mean their thoughts, ideologies, religions. Humanity is the most devisive species in our lore, with multiple space nations existing besides or opposed to each other. These nations all share their own goals, ambitions and futures for the Orion Spur. Furthermore, we even have separate thoughts, concepts and ideas within these very nations themselves, with different parites opposing each other, moderates, conservatism and progessivism taking their stands in the instellar podium of each respective nation (Biesel being a good example). 3. Humanity's dominance. Humanity, lorewise, makes up the most dominant species in the galaxy. You will find them almost anywhere, whether its travel by spacecraft, within the vast streets of Mendell City or some TV commercial model striking out the most corporate-friendly smile to sell you that animal tested shampoo with. In this almost dystopian future, Humanity remains at large and continuous to grow in its political strength. We can hardly even point at a single alien species and claim "They have the ability to overthrow them", because there isn't. 3). What is an area of currently extant lore that you'd like to improve or see improvements made upon? Why do you believe this area should see improvement? a. The most important aspect I'm looking into are primarily cultural, linguistic and perhaps the atmosphere on our lore. As I had mentioned in my second questoin, I adore the diverse nations and states that have sprout into the galaxy and how they reflect Humanity's tenacity to group together as likeminded people in likeminded states. However, I do get the impression that on the linguistic department, we're severily lacking. Elyra is a good example of this. A nation which has found its roots in Middle Eastern colonization efforts nowadays speaks a "remastered Esperanto", aka Tau Ceti Basic? Then we have culture. Sol Alliance, according ot the timeline of Humanity, is the result of the UN's desperate attempt to unite Humanity under a single banner and make the progression towards space smoothly. One of its largest members at the time was, in fact, China. China in our lore, has taken a much more liberal approach in politics, as they turned out to become the USA's biggest ally. This resulted in the USSR becoming more isolationist and steadfast in holding its power than.) We see tidbits coming back of China's influence in Earth's culture and how this eventually expanded along with Humanity to space. Monkey King is the most popular movie franchise produced by a Venusia film director, the Human wikia page depicts the female character dressed in a cheongsam, a dress belonging to the Chinese Manchu subculture which has been widely popular in its country of origins. By expressing these cultures or at least giving proper descriptions of them, I believe players could find it easier to write characters belonging to certain worlds, pick up the nuances and add them to sugar up their characters' traits. I find the atmosphere that our lore creates detremintal to how people feel when their characters engage within this world. The Orion Spur in 2463 is a corporate-controlled dystopian future where the Big Five holds political sway in a majority of Human nations, makes up the largest share in each system's economy and could easily cripple an entire planet by transfering its operations elsewhere if it deems them "unnecessary". Sometimes, characters seem to act far too nonchalant about this timeline. Yes, not everybody will believe that the Republic of Biesel is primarily a political entity working for Nanotrasen's interests, but surely most people would be wary of the power their employers hold within the vastness of space. People need to be somewhat remembered of this, whether its true newspapers, policies or lore fluff I'd love to see that at 4). Assuming you are given the position, which area or project would you like to work on first? Why? a. I'd like to help out with the effort to give Sol a bit more meat to stand on first. Perhaps I'd like to take a look into its military as well with some help, but my priority would be in assisting the lorewriter with expanding the Alliance's backstory in a single, clearcut wikia page rather than spread around into an incohesive mess that happens to be nowadays unfortunately. (That's to say I do not blame the present Human lore team for this. It has been a problem for much longer than that in fact.) Another important area I'd like to play on is Humanity's dominance on the Spur. I feel that people often times forget or take for granted how domineering Humans are supposed to be in this setting. The Big Five are all corporations which roots can be found back to Earth, aka Humanity. The most powerful military entities in the 25th century are all owned by Human empires, aka the Sol Alliance and arguably the CoC (from a defensive standpoint). The economic powerhouses are Human empires. Technological innovations, while still dominated by the Skrell, were pioneered by Humans. 5). How effectively do you work in a team environment? Remember that you will be both working in the human lore team and the greater lore team. Your responsibilities are not just writing lore, but being a small part in something larger. a. I would have to ask the teams I've worked with througout my life XD. But no, I would say I'm a fair teamplayer. I am open to ideas, and sitting around the table to discuss and possibly find a common ground. Comprimising is an important part of teamwork, because sometimes what is best for the team may not always be what your perfect envisioning of the outcome could have been. I am open to accepting feedback from my fellow lore deputies and lorewriters alike, but I'd also accept community feedback on particulair changes or improvements they would like to see. Hopefully a middle ground can be settled for during meetings, as that is my priority when it comes to undertaking major additions to oure lore. 6.) What is your disciplinary history on the Aurora, if any? (Bans, Warnings, Whitelist Strips) Why did you receive these? a. So far in my Aurora life I've only been warned once and that was during my first year on the server because of stealthcult. After that, it was me who handed out disciplinary consequences out to people. ;^)
  23. This. I think the security antag becomes a more prominent issue when secret rolls (auto)traitor. Lone wolf sec antags will usually wait for openings to fire their teammates in the back, whilst sec wardens will go as far as to prepare a raid on the armory to ensure NOBODY gets any tools to fight them back when the same sec warden engages in instant kill mode. I'm not sure if cultist and rev should be subjected to the same treatment, since they're based around teamwork and subverting/convincing people to your cause/cult. In that case, sec antags could offer more to a narrative where perhaps they'll try to convince fellow officers to JOIN THE REVOLUTION, or lure them with promises or a trap to add them to their ranks as followers of Nar'sie.
  24. "Limited-use" was a poor choice of words on my end, apologies! Cooldown was the correct word for it. The heavy shield was another example I initially had in mind, but it still adds to the initial problem I raised where antagonists that do show up, feel more compelled to deploying the shield in an offensive strategy that generates, at least to me, nothing but an added killfeed to a round. Either the antagonist gets mowed down, or the security team ends up mowed down, and that's not what antagonists are supposed to add to the round, at least to me. If a revamp is out of the question, a slow down DOES sound like a good alternative I'll admit.
