  1. Teleporter board only requires 2 or three bluespace, but some amount of data theory. AI board needs a good helping of biology and data theory.
  2. Jesus, this following up on Pickled_tomato's Dionaea application is a one-two punch on fantastically written applications. Literally the only way it could've gotten better is if the song format you put the application into followed a standard Symphony structure, but that's hard to do with just text. Please, accept my +1 you glorious birb. Oh, and I've RPed very extensively with Kala and shard of aether, so I can also vouch for role-playing capabilities here.
  3. Brings back off-topic likes. Marx is breddy ghey tbh
  4. I made no authoritative stance on who I thought was in the right here. Who was over Yefemiy while he was trying to learn mattered much less than the amount of racket the dispute over who was presiding over him created. No where did I say Essel was A-okay in this situation, I believe their reciprocity was unprofessional. ICly there was absolutely no reason whatsoever to believe that there was a murderous death cult on the research station. No one in medical had been attacked by robed men with swords, no magical powers were reported, no ghosts teleporting around, no bloody runes, or golems, or even talk of a new religion or Nar'Sie. Even if you had every OOC reason to believe it was a cult round, ICly you had none. There was a incompletely hacked nanomed+ in medical... that was it. The entire round, despite little to nothing in the way of violence happening, you were extremely paranoid constantly saying you had a bad feeling, and thought something was off. You later went to the chapel and reported strange runes on the floor, that was the first public indicator that there was a cult, and even then chaplains are always drawing runes on their floors. Protectionism of Claire Glimmer is another matter, perfectly justified. By all means, you had every right to be protective of her, especially if she's your student. But the suspicion that there was an evil religiously fanatical cult on the station that might murder your crew members with no in-round precedent of cult murders at all screams metagaming to me at the top of its lungs. At the time we had moved the fix-o-vein to the bone setter spot and the drill to the bottom left corner of the port operating room. The spot you were standing on was where I was using to keep my hemostat and retractor. Technicalities aside, it's understandable you may not have gotten a proper observation of this with the shutter battle that was shaking down, can't blame you too hard for this. On the subject of being locked in a locker by Essel: Again, I would not side with her on this. I felt you were both being extremely childish, not just you. I can't really respond to criticisms against Essel as I'm not them and I did not come here with any intent on shining a positive light on them in this situation, your attacks on their professional being could very well be true for all I know, I've only been operated by from them once or twice a long time ago, I can't characterize their medical prowess. My most extensive interactions with them are in science, so I can stand up to how they hold up in xenoanatomical studies and research, but that has no credence here. On the subject of the prosthesis: I've got little to add, mistakes happened I suppose, I only outlined it because I felt it showed consistent behavior over time. And again, this incident was not bad RP, it was good conflict RP if anything, but it was at the expense of the patient.
  5. Originally, I was going to remain out of this interestingly controversial thread, but I now feel that I should properly weigh in. I am going to cast my vote to a -1. While Nanako (ICly and OOCly, mind you, just so that there is no confusion which I'm referring to) clearly understands seemingly every branch of medical besides possibly the defunct genetics, I don't think they're (ICly) proper for a head of staff. Primarily for IC reasons surrounding Nanako Magojiro. Yesterday I was privy to a display that was, quite frankly, one of the most childish and immature spectacles I've seen on the server since a chaplain had a book called Guy's Gone Wild that he was flashing to everyone. Richter was teaching my medical intern how to do surgery, but when Essel came aboard, she took over since she was a surgeon and Yefemiy wanted to be a surgeon one day. After she took over stewardship, Richter and Nanako took the observation room. At this point, everything is fair enough, and Dr. Essel decides that the privacy shutters should be closed so that we don't feel the pressure of nearly all of medbay observing everything. Okay, fair enough, but Nanako decides her and Ricther absolutely must observe the surgery, and gets the shutters opened. I'm sure she had her raisins, so still, no complaints at this point but then Essel stands firm and closes the shutters again. I think you can see where this is going. Back and forth they went, and meanwhile Yefemiy is sitting there just trying to tune it out and learn surgery while they went back and forth over this seemingly minute issue. Finally, Magojiro came in and hopped up onto my sterile table where I needed to put my surgical tools down and wanted to watch from there. After some brief argument, she gets down and steps over the anesthetic closet where she is then locked in by Essel. As Yefemiy was sitting there trying to operate on a monkey surgery subject, she began shaking and battering the locker trying to break it, making a massive clatter and saying it'd be a shame of the anesthetic locker was broken. All of this ultimately led to both of them being called away to the CMO's office and me sitting there with a borg for thirty minutes while they sorted it out. Regardless of who was right or wrong, the entire display was absolutely poor showing by the primary involved parties. There was another issue a long time ago where someone needed prosthesis. Shkor, figuring he knew robotics and prosthesis, attempted to perform the procedure, but Magojiro insisted on a tug of war to decide who should do it, while the patient was standing there without a limb, and Shkor had the prosthetic and could just do it. After awhile of tug-of-warring, we finally put the patient under, sawed off their stump, and added the prosthetic. Sure, she could've done it or Shkor could'v done it, but the issue is that I was right there about to do it and was held up for a long time because they asserted I was unqualified and that it was their job. I was willing to believe this was water under the bridge until the above previous incident. I think there's a difference between being competent, taking charge and showing leadership, and being woefully bull-headed, overly assertive, and immaturely bossy. While she may know everything there is to know about medbay, I think these qualities of making mountains out of every mole hill are a severe issue which I can already foresee are going to make a significantly less-than-synergistic command team. I can already see the power trips and arguments over authority and jurisdiction breaking out over command comms, and shudder to think of the IRs that could come of it. Do I think it's bad roleplay? Absolutely not, I think Nanako is an interesting and career driven character who tries very hard to be the best at their job. But, I don't think Magojiro should be a head of staff for the listed concerns, at least yet. They've come a really far way from how they used to be, and now that I'm done tearing into their character, I can confidently slip in a condolence that I think it is within NanakoAC's capabilities to be a good head of staff after these edges are not necessarily smoothed out completely, but just toned down.
  6. It's surprising how often people forget the directive on acting captaincy. But, I should venture forth to say that I agree that a head of staff authorization should really be required to call a shuttle which removes crew from the round. The only crimes I could see warranting it are "hold until transfer" crimes, which are usually severe enough to have to hand someone over to BPD. That said, an entirely new dock would have to be added, as last I checked, you're only allowed one shuttle per dock, and all docks are currently taken. Assuming this task could be performed, and assuming the feature isn't abused to remove antags from rounds which they could otherwise free themselves from, I think this would be interesting.
  7. This is probably the best Diona application I've seen since Whispering Willow, and Isabella Silva is a character I had fantastic role-play experiences with when she was my body guard. I certainly have to add my support to this application, even if its acceptance is already all but guaranteed.
  8. They already can... Sort of. Unless New Code removed it, they were able to make Superior Welding Goggles with the protolathe, but now that I think of I haven't seen it in the lathe menu in some time. Either way, I don't know about the back firing welders part, but being able to make welding Goggles with lathes would be neat.
  9. I've seen this suggestion before somewhere around here, and I'll say the same thing I said then: This would be really nice. The upgrading part is unique to this thread in particular, but all the more reason to support it in my opinion. There can be a lot of xenoarchs and anomalists at once, and only having one field generator usually doesn't cut it. They can't be built, and as far as I know, they can't be ordered, so this would be a fantastic addition if coders can find out how to swing it.
  10. But does he have over 300 confirmed kills? No :/ but he does have a lot of kills under his belt from being extensively trained in "Gorilla" warfare
  11. In the RuneScape Discord channel, I have had nothing but pleasant ERP experiences with BrightDawn. It started off with gold trimming rune armor, and led to wielding a rune 2h, and I was able to buy a gf for 500 GP. I think they can handle an ERP whitelist with style, but only if they ERP with my Skrell. Their forum avatar is also a lolicatgirl, and therefore kawaii sugoii. EDIT: Desu~
  12. We must seize the means of (coffee) production. Красная Армия всех сильней!
  13. wHAT By the Holy Theotokos, this changes everything. I'm going to ethanol the shit out of the monitor decryption key after committing it to memory. Plus, I feel like this could be of use to cultists when powergaming sec comes searching for the inscribed rune papers.
  14. I'll have you know Arrkady is a veteran of two revolutionary wars. Datberry makes fun of me for grammatical mistakes in LOOC when I play late at night so I fukken h8 him he's pretty funny. I /really/ like this character, and since Arrkady was also a wheat m'sai, but a veteran of the revolutionaries, I really look forward to the animosity and arguments which might rage between them on station. Two average Tajarans who under different circumstances might have gotten along, enemies of circumstance on different sides of political borders. Anywho, these possibilities are tantalizing to me, but as far as your roleplay abilities go, I've had limited interactions with your characters, but enough to know that you're a solid roleplayed. +1
  15. @TheRealGangstaSquigga Oh shit! Got an interview tomorrow on Taj Talk about my album! Tune in tomorrow to see me represent! #Famous #TajTalk #StraightOuttaJargon Shkor-Dyet Dom'Pesh
  16. If someone thinks it should be done, they should make a suggestion about it. I wouldn't be partial against it, it sounds pretty hip, I just didn't want to assume it would be easy.
  17. You know, sprinting requires contact with a solid surface The Odysseus should really have a built in jetpack imo. it's not actually useful for EVA as is I think he means some sort of magboots or otherwise ability to connect itself with the ground in a zero-g environment. The fact that it has powerful arms and hands makes it able to grip the sides of things to pull itself along the edges of asteroids/space stations/ships. I think a jetpack would also make it very nice if it were omnidirectional in order to properly prevent it from spinning out of control, but I'm assuming the current design makes this unfeasible. Plus there are likely coding concerns preventing it. All in all, better for space than an ambulance. Thanks for the answers JB, I'm glad to have them. The only thing really lacking is the history, but as Skull pointed out, it's already a profession with mechs being the future of it. I like the ideas presented of them in combat situations, or even riot/crowd control, and I'm glad that we didn't take the absurd anime approach.
  18. I really want coffee machines, so I'm biased here in saying +1. Plus, BrightDawn, aside from the uniform thread, has been nothing but cheery and positive, a lot of optimistic enthusiasm. Combined with these examples, I think they'd be neat.
  19. I was honestly surprised Fire didn't already have a head whitelist. I've roleplayed with some of his characters, mostly CAC (who shouldn't be a head) but Usiki Guwan totally should be. He's one of those medical personnel I see on the manifest and say to myself: Ah! Medical has someone competant! I think he would make a good CMO based on his technical skills and his amiable people skills. Fire knows how to roleplay well, so I think he can do this
  20. I think this is the perfect solution for the question at hand, as I use this sort of formatting all the time in the Discord and would love to be able to use it in game. My second choice would be Delta's suggestion, but this would be fantastic.
  21. I've gotten in many heated discussions with Auralia with a now retired character They're pretty good. Onto talking about Auralia though: One of my favorite squids on the station without a doubt, love her.
  22. Okay, I did some searching, and asking more veteran Duty Officers to get a more concise response, and apparently this conversation has come up before and the conversation happened in detail. This was the result (copy and pasted): So, in summation, it's SoP to turn up your sensors during a heightened alert level, but you can't really be arrested for it unless command ordains that you absolutely have to. Failure to increase your suit sensors just means that you forfeit any and all priority when people are getting saved, and if you were ordered to up your suit sensors (which command can tell you to on Code Blue or higher) and fail to, then it most certainly means potential brig time if you live through the issue at hand. So: Code Green: Privacy laws in place, no sensors required. Code Blue: Should and expected to have some sort of sensors on, but if command sets a must level you have to meet it or go higher. Failure to do so is a charge of Failure to Execute an Order. If command did not set a must level, then failure to have enhanced sensors means forgoing priority during rescue operations. Code Red: Should and expected to have tracking beacon, but not absolutely required unless command sets the must level at it. Failure to do so is a charge of Failure to Execute an Order (possibly Failure to Execute an Order with Serious Consequences depending on how things shake out). If command did not set a must level, then failure to have enhanced sensors means forgoing priority during rescue operations. This is the current status quo as I have been able to find it among the corps, but of course Owen can change this. or possibly be aware of a change which I am not and correct me. I'll point him to this thread when he's active again to make sure I didn't muck anything up and that this is true.
  23. Hey, I'd be more than willing to +1 this. The lore in the app is, very obviously, clashing with the current lore on the wiki, but I'm going to assume this is information based on the upcoming update since you said you were talking to Loow (can't wait to see it!). I feel like this character is very conducive to more role-play, and Nursie is a very seasoned and experienced roleplayer.
