Nerf the Statue time to 1 minute

Recommended Posts

5-10 minutes is enough time for someone to be statued until the Evac shuttle arrives, and uh...

well thats bullshit. It takes you outta the round for a considerable amount of time, and even if its only 5 minutes, thats 5 BYOND minutes. So its more like 7.

This suggestion refers to the Statue spell of the wizard.

Planning to edit this myself to 1-2 minutes, and also to change it so antags don't have a magical block against being polymorphed 4noraisin.

It's called Flesh to Stone.

And I believe it lasts 3 minute un-upgraded(not sure measured this a long time ago) but upgrades can stretch it to what I measured was 6 minutes. The main issue is that during those 6 minutes the spell recovers again, meaning you can essentially kill someone with it.

That's not the issue. You can kill someone within a minute of statuing them if you like, you just break the statue.

The problem is that it's not fun for you to be stuck like that for so long, unable to do anything. It should be a disable spell, not a 'write you out of the round' spell

6 minutes is no time at all. that is not enough time to go AFK and make a sandwich. Given the nominally non-lethal nature of the spell, it's better to keep it as is. If non-lethal spells are not worth incapacitating people, then fireball becomes the only choice.

You misunderstood. I meant you can ESSENTIALLY kill someone with it.

What I meant to imply that you can very easily keep someone frozen for the entire duration of the round with an upgraded Flesh to Stone.

Senpai Jackboot I've gotten Flesh to Stoned, and have had time to go make a sandwich, come back, and still been ignored as 'Just a random statue of an oddly lifelike person' during a round. It's pretty easy for people to pass it up without a second thought as you can't do anything whatsoever. It may seem like no time at first, but you try sitting there for six minutes with no interaction from anyone besides the casual looks and people walking off. It'll feel like a year. It's almost literally taking someone out of the round if a wizard wanted to be a cunt with it, without the ability to bring them back until the Wizard's distracted long enough for them to de-statue.

The dynamic of this spell is now a demonstration of power more than anything else. It shows someone you are in control and can choose to statue them any time you like. But it also means that only one person can be statued at a time, and the statue wears off in a reasonable time, allowing interactions.

I remember when the omega clown decided to battle the crew at the EOR on the Odin, it was rather intense but then all the fun was gone when the wizard ran up and stoned the clown (the wizard was then gibbed due to "bluespace"). I have seen too many cases when the wizard would just run up and stone someone then run away, and it is just not fun to be on the receiving end. +1

I for one think it should remain as-is. Why the heck are we changing this again? People who get this done to them usually don't have it done out of the blue. And if the time it last changes, the cooldown until it can be used again should also decrease proportionally.

I'd also like to see who ghosts in frustration to this spell, as said in that PR.

That's fair. I'll change it from 60 seconds (minimum 20 with upgrades) to 20 seconds (minimum 10 with upgrades).

And I can't give you names, but I have personally experienced a frustrated cultist ghosting after being stoned a second time in a row.

I concede that this is fair. No further complaint from me.
