Naelynn
BYOND key: NaelynnCharacter names: Spoiler Akemi Smiles ( Chemist ) Lea de Belmond ( Engineer ) Sabael Kyledes ( Miner/TCFL ) Aimee de Belmond ( Robotics ) Vale Rigby ( Security Officer ) Tiffany Paulene ( Phoron Researcher ) BC-V41 ( Surgeon ) VRS-614 ( Xenobiologist ) Nicole Naase ( Merchant ) Jane Grey ( Assistant ) Casey Mercer ( Visitor/Traitor ) Nightingale ( Vox Raider/Merchant, pAI ) Valor ( Tpr. / TCFL / Merc / Raider ) Grand Artificer Naeva ( Wizard ) GR-416 ( Cyborg ) GR-416c ( pAI ) Nomad / Delta ( Ninja ) How long have you been playing on Aurora?: My byond account was created on 29/10/2017 and Aurora was the first server I played on. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I believe the station needs more IAA players. Why did you come to Aurora?: Others servers are too.. dumb? Is that a good word? There is not a lot of reasoning to why people do things, they just do because 'lmfao wouldn't it be funny to spam *farts* while killing people with chainsaw?'Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes.Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Yes - I have recieved a warning for botched nuke-ops round. Here is the complaint thread: Edit 27/7/2019 - there currently is a character complaint against my account, please take it into consideration before proceeding with the whitelist: Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is process that requires two or more parties to initiate. [You cannot RP alone] It's an activity of acting out different characters for the purpose of enjoyment for all parties involved. Thus, by my definition, if only one party is enjoying the 'RP', it is no longer considered RP. This definition always drives me to try to improve. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: 1) Give direction and help with role play. 2) Make sure in game interactions are not driven completely off the rails. 3) BE RESPONSIBLE for their department. [Lives of their people, equipment etc.] What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Help new players learn the roles I am capable of teaching. Be a role model player. Leading by example. Being whitelisted means your job comes with a bit of authority that you don't have - and that means you have to be responsible. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? Tau Ceti is a region that's currently in something of a pickle. Multiple situations causing distress to citizens of Biesel - Unathi Exiles, Aut'Akh situation, the semi-recent war with Vaurca just to name a few. Many people are worried because of this - one such example is my miner/TCFL character Sabael - signed up to help people survive, to protect others. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Internal Affairs Agent, RD? Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Internal Affairs Agent / (Nanotrasen Liaison) - Katherine Thorne - Shell IPC Character concept: Spoiler Katherine is a 1-year-old shell ordered by and owned by NanoTrasen. It was designed specifically to mimic a human as close as possible and uses state of the art technology to do so. Due to this and the installed loyalty chip, this IPC is always looking to further the goals of the company while minimizing losses. Katherine has complete database on company regulations and the Republic of Biesel's laws. It idolizes these laws, and fails to see them as potentially flawed creations. Katherine believes the laws exist to be obeyed, and will do her best to make sure they are upheld. As long as they do not conflict with company interests. That comes first. Katherine's last name is taken after the man who assembled it's chassis: Damian Thorne. He is a very strict person few years before retirement age, very much set in his ways, and this has somewhat imprinted itself on the IPC. While Katherine does not stubbornly expect everything to be her way, she very much will argue her position to the bitter end, if she fails to see a benefit to the company in whatever topic is at hand. This IPC is expected to: - Behave like a lawyer. - Organize and assist during high stress situations. - Be available for the crew to process complaints and assist ISD AND PRISONERS to make sure NanoTrasen cannot be sued for human rights violation or other law or regulation infractions. - When the potential damage to the company would exceed it's sunk + future cost and the odds of success are high enough, sacrifice itself for the benefit of the company. (Example: One extremely wounded hostile, incapable of effectively fighting back - Katherine would attempt to restrain this hostile to prevent their escape, then escort them to medbay while calling for security officer escord. The character would NOT attempt to run down an armed intruder, even if they only have something as small as a knife, if they are combat capable. She is expected to work for nanotrasen for multiple years in the future, and any significant damage to the chassis could reduce her future value to nill. A simple cost/benefit analysis rules this behaviour out.) Edit 23.07.2019: Curator, Research Director, Zeng Hu Frame Character concept: Spoiler Curator is an experienced 12-years-old scientific free frame. It's knowledge database is extensive ever since it started it's work all the way back in the days as a simple mechanical engineer. Curator considers itself particularly intelligent, but it fails to process human emotions and emotional outbursts. It tries it's best to estimate the correct course of action during such times but often is led astray during it's attempts. The IPC's name comes from the fact that it likes to arrange and keep everything organized and clean - as if they were in a museum. If things are disorganized, Curator likes to address the situation immediately even if more pressing concerns are about. While the Curator may come off as awkward, their scientific knowledge is extensive to say the least, and it is known to be protective of it's employees. If Curator is put in a difficult situation (for example: hostage), it would rather agree to demands of the perpetrators than risk the lives of his team. This IPC is expected to: - Assist and educate all science personnel. - Come off as awkward but caring. - Be insistent on cleanliness and organization of the workplace. - Attempt to keep crew out of harm's way, especially during higher alert codes. (Not forcefully, but via words.) - Attempt to increase efficiency of the workplace where possible. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: about 6.5 /10 ? I can definitely do better. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes. Extra notes: I am a fairly notorious antagonist player, and I'm worried this might influence the application negatively, so I'd like to address it here. I mostly play off station antagonists, with the exception of traitor. I do not plan to have traitor enabled on any command characters, and this everyone is able to see for themselves in game: My 'traitor main' character is Casey Mercer, a VISITOR/ASSISSTANT with 1 useful loadout item [Webbings]. If I wanted to powergame, I could roll Aimee [Roboticist] as traitor, or Vale Rigby [Sec. Officer] or VRS [Xenobiologist]... but I don't. I like the fact that my traitoring comes with a little extra challange of starting with no access or tools whatssoever. As such, head of staff traitor with so much access, authority and equipment would be... kind of meh really. I even go as far as to state in my security/employment that Mercer is on an official watchlist and is a very dangerous person to have on board as well as stating that the character is a solarian merc. Like, all the red flags possible. Thank you for reading through all this, and thank you even more if you decide to post your opinion. Please be harsh with your assessments, I can take critique. It's the best way to improve. Link to comment
Bear
My antag battle sister herself. A wonderful RP'r who doesnt give herself enough credit for creative gimmicks and interaction between players of all departments alike. Always that silent drone that *somehow* managed to set up the engine by itself. She has a diverse roster of characters who are always a plus to rp with and drive the round forward from whatever niche of the roster they are on. She knows her stuff for just about every department and is a wonderful teacher for those who dont. (I owe a large portion of my learnings to her). An easy +1 Link to comment
Cnaym
Naelynn has mastered combat by this time. The hilarious shit she gets away with is scary to say the least. If you know how well she will wreck antags or security if called for you might wonder why she was not banned from playing either. This is due to her RP skills. If you are security and you corner her and showed that you did not care for hostages before, she will not take any more and instead make a show out of slaying them. I love how she always one ups the danger. Having Nightingale or Valor on the antag team is a scary situation by now. Thing is that she does the code dives, compares stats, figures out the ways to robust entire teams and still walks in for the RP. Killed her miner antag once by pure random bullshitery with my RD and instead of spreading the salt we talked it over on discord, found out what exactly happened and why, helped both of us to improve in our RP and character development IC. This is what i want to see from command members. We will fight IC, we may even kill each other IC, but in LooC / Discord we have the clear goal in mind to make the game interresting and enjoyable for the rest of the playerbase which i love to see. The fact that she joins as a drone to do the engine just so lowpop has light as well as her quick and often unseen fixes if the current engineers are overwhelmed by the situation at hand shows that willingness to serve the community really well. Am i scared of her doing an IAA? Oh boi, that i am. Would i love to see her push the paperworks to the next level and enforce the regulations / help people getting their IRs going? Hell yeah! Do i think she should make an HoS later down the road? Please do! +1 with no regrets. If you where ever annoyed by the lowpop wiz / ninja nuking the place and see Naelynns antag gimmiks in the next round you know that it's a far stretch from the usual stuff and always interesting for the crew since she goes out of her way to involve more than the ISD. KingOfThePing
You might want to re-think your suggested character, since Internal Affairs Agents will be replaced very soon. Link to comment

Faris
Giving you a trial. 23/07 to 30/07. Keep in mind the following: 1- Some activity as command is necessary for during the trial. 2- Any major administrative actions during the trial will possibly result in a failed trial. Best of luck. Mogelix
I'm currently perma'd and I was forumbanned for a while preventing me from posting. But I'd like to voice my reasoned pposition to Naelynn getting command whitelist. Which is a bit late given the trial, but this really rubs off on me. If I wanted to powergame, I could roll Aimee [Roboticist] as traitor, or Vale Rigby [Sec. Officer] or VRS [Xenobiologist] I know Mercer is just one of your 'characters.' But she is the only character of hers I have ever interacted with as a Officer main. And it has all been negative. I have encountered her thrice doing the exact same Strat. Once, I went to EVA to check on something, I don't quite remember what. But, I encountered Mercer hacking into EVA storage. We stared at eachover for a short while, I tried to use sec headset but commd were down. I try to use a stationbound and /me pulling it out. She pulled out a E-sword after "uhhhh"ing. And then ganked me literally wordlessly. You then went on in that round to terrorize the crew, command, and security with no-rp or reasoning, breaching the captain's office and rampaging and pillaging the station for no voiced or /valid/ implicit reason. I vaguely remember another round where I once again caught them breaking into sec EVA and got away. In that round also, I remember no RP in your antaggery, just more mindless rampaging. And the third round, I checked in on EVA 15 mins in the round, and what do I see? All the sec suits are gone. Then, on cue, the caps office is breached. I steal a skrell voidsuit and Las rifle, then respond to captain's office. The AI informs me 'the intruder has turned into a backpack.' I pretend/RP not seeing the backpack because it was behind the caps desk and it's just a small backpack. I hop over the cap desk and I'm instantly E-sworded to death, not before I can pop some shots on you. But once again, without a word, you have killed me. You then go on to aimlessly terrorize the station. Funny thing is, first time you killed me, you were ahelped for it. You justified it for being early in the round and begrudgingly accepted. But you were then warned for terrorizing the station with no RP, negotiations, or reasoning. Yet you still did and do this shit. And believe me, it's tiring and unfun. It's also not cool. Everyone seems to think their just very robust and a ingenious antag but they just, in my experience, play to win, noRP. And I have a vague unvoiced reason why some people are willing to look past this and say your just robust. Can I also point out how laughable a 'solarian Merc, watchlist, max red flags' assistant is? Why are you hired? What is your chars purpose other then give yourself a MRP reason to terrorize the station? Do you even RP with this character? Why do admins allow this character to exist? Anyway. After this series of rounds, I learned that you only play traitor with this char. And in my experience, your chars and traitors are just powergaming, valid hunting, noRP ganking. Can I say I support and that you deserve command whitelist with this inmind? Hell no. You deserve a player complaint. Even if you say you won't play antag as command, I really don't care, and people love to backpedal on their whitelist promises. I read that you are willing to talk things out with people in DMs, but I doubt you would be willing to talk it out with me. Edited July 22, 2019 by Mogelix Link to comment
Nekonyan123
I had several interactions with the IAA and the RD played by Naelynn. She played very well those two roles, she interacted with two among my main characters, Laika Tupulev and Feng Huang. Her IAA Agent interviewed Laika after a report regarding prisoner handling, and the agent was very kind and professional with Laika, working not in order to find guilt, but to find a working solution both for the corporation and Laika herself. In the end she decided to solve the issue in a diplomatic manner, preventing any major issue. I also met her RD as Feng Huang, my main science character, the robotic RD, Curator, saved Feng from a Phoron exposure triggered by an anomaly, and Feng witnessed how the Director was caring and helpful for the scientists, helping them with their research and even fetching them additional equipment. Naelynn seems perfectly fit for command roles, being an inclusive and positive player, that does not discriminate anyone and tries her best (managing) at improving the roleplay and the fun of the round. In the end, I can say that those two positive interactions might confirm the good choice the staff made while allowing her to get command whitelist. I look forward for more interactions with her characters in order to broad and sharpen this review, that is, anyway, positive. +1 Link to comment
Scheveningen
+1. Naelynn's a terrifying antagonist to face off against and a solid roleplayer. Aimee de Belmond is the lass I've had the most encounters with, but nevertheless Nae is a splendid person, roleplayer and member of the community. They're very responsible and cool-headed. They deserve this privilege. Edited July 23, 2019 by Scheveningen Link to comment

BoryaTheSlayer
+1. Despite liking Thorne more Curator is a great RD to have, at the very least as a member of the science department. They're willing to teach and provide some great RP, as well. Honestly it's hard to play science nowadays, since noone seems to play it anymore-- but having Curator on the manifest gives me just enough hope to join as a scientist and enjoy the round. Faris
Application accepted, here is why. 1- Player complaint resolved with minor administrative action that was essentially asking for a character rework. 2- No administrative action taking during your trial, both during the regular seven days and extended portion on the server itself. 3- A fair amount of people supporting this application with sound reasoning. Locking and archiving. Link to comment
