Snakebittenn Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Hello, it's me, your favorite. Let's add skirt variants of Security uniforms (except for Necro and EPMCs, I guess.) Not like, mini-skirts, but say, knee-length. I will promise to whoever sprites this out that I will PR it in a timely manner, but I cannot sprite these myself, as I am not skilled enough.
BoryaTheSlayer Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 I like that, yeah. Fashun and all. Skirts don't have to be necessarily restraining, and, as you say, they should be reasonable length. I totally support this even if my current officer characters probably wouldn't wear it. I know some people who have characters who would. I support this.
Peppermint Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 A decently fitted skirt really isn't that movement restricting. Please make them pretty though! The feminine clothing options are pretty ick for anything outside of the fancy dresses.
AmoryBlaine Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 No skirt uniforms. We almost lost the three current uniforms, so I really doubt we're gonna get gendered uniforms as well. Even so, why would you want your security team to have gendered uniforms. That goes for any of the on-station uniforms.
MattAtlas Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 No thank you. We really don't need even MORE variants of security uniforms. Trim the current selection down or it won't fly.
Snakebittenn Posted December 31, 2019 Author Posted December 31, 2019 Trimming the selection is fully possible.
MattAtlas Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Even then I have severe doubts about keeping an uniformed slash corporate look with uniforms varying like this. Before you ask, yes, I also have a problem with the current selection on uniforms, but I digress. I'm not fine with departments that are supposed to be strictly uniformed (see: CCIA reg for security wear) getting shit like skirts. Doubly so for security because they get in CQC fights all the time.
Doc Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 No form of skirt, as unrestrictive as any particular one may be, will ever be as practical for security's form of field work as pants or a jumpsuit. This does not make sense, and as mentioned above, security already suffers for contention regarding its uniformity as-is. We don't need to exacerbate that issue.
Natiform Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 yeah..... no that's a hard no from me dawg you don't see female police officers in skirts. thats because they are not practical at best and get absolutely in the way at worst. there is zero reason to have gendered uniforms, and if female security officers want to be feminine, they have their off hours to do so. which is why some people are currently working on more female outfits- feminity isn't bad but there is a time and place for that, security not being one of them. please please please, just, no.
BRAINOS Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 absolutely not god please do NOT "they don't have to restrict movement" no i don't even know where to start on this loose skirts, tight skirts, pleated skirts or pencil skirts have absolutely no place in a department that's supposed to be protecting the station and its assets from threats known and unknown. it does not matter how much anyone thinks they are cute or fashionable or flattering. a skirt is bad combat gear, would make fitting into a voidsuit or a RIG a pain, wrestling down a criminal a pain, climbing up ladders a pain, etc. there is a reason you don't see anyone in the police or military or private security wearing a skirt while doing any kind of active work. gendered clothes don't make sense and they especially don't make sense in the 2400's. ESPECIALLY in a role like this. hard no.
BurgerBB Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 yeah let me uh get stunbattoned on the floor by someone wearing a security skirt yep
Arrow768 Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 Seconding the dismissal for the reasons stated above
Carver Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 Under no circumstance should a uniform be designed impractically for it's department. Skirts do not belong in Security, nor Engineering, nor Research nor Cargo (and let's throw in particular roles in Medical like Chemist, Surgeon and Medical Doctor into that bucket as well). If such were ever added I'd hope to see them offering no protective values to the legs (and let's throw in some fabricator/lathe hazard RNG as well).
