ajstorey456 Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 No, I don't mean film, I don't know how that would work. But! I mean literal tape. Just put a little bit of tape over the camera and boom! Disabled. It's an easy fix, just click the camera, but it's also an easier way to keep the AI from looking without causing a literal alarm. Similar idea, be able to put coats over them, as someone said in OOC when I mentioned this.
Conspiir Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 I could see this. It can make sense. A less violent way of stopping the AI from seeing what you're doing, but still could be considered vandalism if you do it without a reason. +1
LordBalkara Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 +1 makes sense as a more easily fixable and less noticeable version of smashing the camera, and the AI can still notice it if he realizes he can't see in that spot
Fortport Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 What a good idea, for every reason denoted above. I support this.
Butterrobber202 Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 Duct tape is now a traitor item, 1 TC.
Brutishcrab51 Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 I like this idea a lot. It keeps everyone from busting the cameras when the AI gets reported, or helps traitors avoid detection when they want to do some stuff that could get them valid'd by that Warden who will always, always look at just the right camera. +1.
UnknownMurder Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 +1 This is actually reasonable than just noticing that the AI/Security is watching you by camera blinker's toggling red.
ajstorey456 Posted December 1, 2017 Author Posted December 1, 2017 Duct tape is now a traitor item, 1 TC. I'm not even sure if this is a meme or not but I'd take it.
Arrow768 Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 Well, I am not too sure about that. Adding that would be a enormous buff to anyone that doesnt want to be watched. It doesnt trigger any alarms. Its readily available. It can be applied in mass very easily. There would need to be usage limit added to the tape, similar to other resources.
ajstorey456 Posted December 2, 2017 Author Posted December 2, 2017 I had assumed there already was one, like 5 tapes per role
Zundy Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 To balance this out (no alarms), the sprite of the camera taped should be glaringly obvious to anybody looking imo.
LordBalkara Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 To balance this out (no alarms), the sprite of the camera taped should be glaringly obvious to anybody looking imo. Why not just make it stop moving like when you break a cam, and have a grey bit over the end of it? Would that work?
Fortport Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 To balance this out (no alarms), the sprite of the camera taped should be glaringly obvious to anybody looking imo. Make it look like they taped the living hell out of it, instead of just the optical part. Also, have it to where you can take the tape off and do forensics to find out who wrapped it around the camera.
ajstorey456 Posted December 2, 2017 Author Posted December 2, 2017 Also, have it to where you can take the tape off and do forensics to find out who wrapped it around the camera. Yes, that. Many minor things are being said in suggestion that I thought were givens.
Alberyk Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 Against this because there are already ways to disable cameras, and this seems to lack any drawback of the other two, so why would you smash or hack a camera if you can just tape it? Voting for dismissal.

Voting for dismissal. Could always have it give an alert to the AI that it cant see out of the camera
Arrow768 Posted December 26, 2017 Posted December 26, 2017 Could always have it give an alert to the AI that it cant see out of the camera So the effect would be blocked vision + alarm ? Then it would be equal or even inferior to the current system, because if you hack a camera properly, you wont even trigger an alarm.
Kaed Posted December 26, 2017 Posted December 26, 2017 Also, cameras right now are either broken or functioning, and malf AI can make them magically start working against with an ability. How exactly do they also remove tape from the front by resetting the camera? It just doesn't fit well with the current setup.
LordFowl Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 Voting for dismissal. We can already smash or cut cameras. Taping it would add little especially when it has such fewer drawbacks. Binning.
