Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 (edited) Beginning on an undetermined date sometime this month, we, the lore team and admins, are going to be embarking on an ambitious plan to host a week long, canon arc for the station. This week long event is an experiment in if this sort of thing is even feasible, while also breaking the current tie in the Contest and bringing it climactic closure. For the duration of the event there will be several changes to gameplay for every round. The Command roster is being affected. The Captain slot will be changed to another to represent the nature of the event, and IAA is getting an alternate job title. A wiki page will be launched at the start of the event to explain the jobs; they will be similar but with differing interests for the station and how it runs. Loyalty implants are being affected in a particular way, which will no doubt cause tension between Command, Security, and the Odin. During this event, all server rules are going to be enforced as normal. Rules on self-antagging are still going to be enforced. We are excited about this and want it to succeed, and that means we all need to try to act in good faith and not throw caution to the wind as sometimes happens in events. The event's mechanical changes are going to be present in all rounds. By its nature, theoretically, a round of extended can continue as normal, but it probably won't if we're doing it right. Antagonists' are going to have an impact on how this event unfolds and ends. The goal is to allow evolving narratives during normal rounds that are tied to the events unfolding off-station and our investment in how we want the contest to end. For game mechanics, are two possible endings, and those are the endings promised by the 2nd Antag Contest: 1) Synthetics are emancipated and may enter Command (except Captain) as easily as humans, indefinitely. 2) Synthetics are stripped of their minimal rights and are banned from Command, indefinitely. The fallout for Tau Ceti as a whole will be far reaching. Has 2459 ushered in the realization of an empire in decline? The Sol Alliance feels it's backed into a corner, as protests and upheavals against SolGov are spreading like wildfire across the Galaxy. Affecting even the Core worlds, the grip of Sol on its colonies is dwindling. As the empire seems to be slipping away, fissures are beginning to appear. With a thousand different motives and factions pulling the already disjointed government into endless different directions, SolGov has become paralyzed by partisan bickering and meddling. This uncertain future has put wind in the sails of the hawks within the Alliance, including ATLAS hardliner Admiral Frost, who commands the 33rd Fleet enforcing the Alliance blockade on Tau Ceti. A declining Empire, to some minds, can only be restored to greatness by immediate, bold, and decisive action by men and women willing to take the risk and burden. And when the existential threat is the spreading weed of synthetic proliferation and allowing entire star systems to break off from Sol, such bold action may not be beneficial to the survival of Tau Ceti's short experiment with independence... Commissar_Drew Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Please note, no relation between Milo Frost and our erstwhile admiral. Quote
Fire and Glory Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Please note, no relation between Milo Frost and our erstwhile admiral. That's what they want you to believe. Quote
Faris Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 I can see it already, ATLAS, glorious ATLAS soldiers marching in lines, goose stepping up to the Jargon capital in their black uniforms. ATLAS forever! (But jokes aside, I do hope people actually go for the anti-synth route. Bloody progressive robophiles!) EDIT: I get yelled at over Discord about believing about anti-synths. Nope. Fuck this. Stay classy Aurora. Ain't staying in this shit show anymore. Â Have you tried reporting these people? This kind of behavior is not permitted. Quote
Shadow Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 ATLAS PRIDE GALAXY WIDE. DOWN WITH THE SYNTHS. Ahem. Quote
Butterrobber202 Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Damn Soulless Machines, no life to even take. Quote
ToasterStrudel Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 RIP all my head characters :^( (I'm excited for either outcome, when are we gonna do a contest to ban catbeasts from command tho???) Quote
whiterabit Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 YES REMOVE ALL SYNTH RIGHTS I NEED IT i need my oppression but no one oppresses my characters : ( Quote
Superiorform Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 I, for one, will be going very anti-synth. From an OOC perspective, I don't think synths should be given command roles. Would peapole really be happy if their boss was a robot? It's insane. Quote
NoahKirchner Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Oooh this is gonna be really cool I think. I hope the server numbers get high and you see some riots . Quote
Guest Complete Garbage Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Sandman and Taurus are both antisynth, so it's gonna be interesting when Taurus loses his job Considering they're the only characters I really play, I think this is going to be fun. I'm glad the contest is actually ending soon, as well. Quote
Nikov Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Synth HOP, Synth CE, Synth HOS, Synth CMO, Synth RD, Synth Quartermaster... and the AI. All nominally subordinate to one human who SUPPOSEDLY is in charge, but is himself controlled by a microchip in his brain and the faxes the AI prints for him. This is fine. Quote

EORhappiness Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 EXCELLENT opportunity to pave the way for GLORIUS revolution, Equality for all! All Unite! Destroy the Fascist Tyrants! Quote
HunterRS Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Edgar is a loyal sol alliance citizen, he will probably be anti synth, but ooc I really want pro synth to win Quote
Mofo1995 Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Ironically, the only one of my characters who would care is the Mayor of Mendel City council, I'm pretty sure everyone else would just think it's something unrelated to them. Quote
Scheveningen Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 The synths thought they won. They were wrong. Quote
Bran232 Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Breaking News! Reports are pouring in from the N.S.S Exodus (a research station of the megacorporation Nanotrasen.) in occupied Tau Ceti space, Disgruntled Tau Ceti citizens and nationals battled with the present Nanotrasen security, and Sol liaison officer, the clashes resulting in multiple casualties on both sides. We are receiving information regarding executions of Sol Alliance opposition members from multiple eyewitnesses that saw the executions, and those who handled the victims’ remains. Not much is clear at this time, but the highly controversial invasion of Tau Ceti by the Sol Alliance has been speculated to further destabilize the already fragmented alliance. We will keep you tuned to further updates, here on the Tau Ceti daily.' Just a fan lore I wrote for today's events on a round. Quote
NoahKirchner Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 Perhaps a far bit late, but I forgot to check to see if there was a forum post on the topic. This event was loads of fun, even if it wouldn't have been canon, but the fact that it **was** canon made it absolutely goddamn motherfucking phenomenal. Quote
