  1. Ah, there you are, sorry didn't notice you through all this cash I have around. Oh you want another great guide from me? Well maybe I could help. Got problems with cloning? Alright, listen carefully mai boy. Cloning is a very serious thing and an issue in the anno domini 2459 and a lot of people just don't know how to handle that, so this guide is here to help you with that. LESSON UNO: Types of cloning and what to remember. THE PATIENT There are currently two types of cloning, direct cloning from the fresh neural scan. OR Cloning from a database which was previously established. They may seem similar but they're EXTREMELY different. First of you know that as a clone you aren't supposed to remember anything after dying or immediatly prior to your death, of course the amnesia you have can be RP'd out to your choosing but remember, remembering who killed you and how is generally a dick move. The difference in database scan is that you don't remember ANYTHING AFTER THE SCAN, so if you were scanned at the beginning of the round you'll only remember what you did at the start of that round, you will not know that station went to red alert, that someone called you a pimplehead or that you ERPd in maint. This is the danger of the database cloning you will know nothing after you've been put into said database. THE DOCTOR Now for you doctor y- WHAT ARE YOU DOING? No don't clone that man, he's flagged as hostile to crew by security and without their permission you aren't allowed to clone them. No leave the suicide patient alone too, those people are wasted biomass a- NO THAT'S A DNC, DID YOU NOT CHECK THE RECORDS? Go put them in morgue right now. Now you're cloning a good patient, he got exploded by a weldertank, what he isn't responding? Well just keep smashing that scan button, I always live by the rule of 5 presses with a 5 second break between each of them. But remember, always check that a CMO or Psychiatrist/Psychologist is present during cloning, or you'll be occupied with a walking potato full of drama and won't be able to heal other patients, remember PCD(Post Cloning Disorder) is a real and dangerous thing. LESSON TWO: What am I supposed to do? THE PATIENT Now here comes the fun part acting out your PTSD, now you don't know how to do it? Oh don't worry that's why I'm here you sexy beast. Now first you'll need two dice, a d6 and a d12. Got them? Good. No Larry that's a D20 put that down you idiot. That's a d12 good. Now let's get rooooooooooooooooooooooooooight into the roooooooooooolls. First d6 for severity and thenthe d12 You'll throw for all of these Depression Aggression Apathy Immortality Syndrome Kübler-Ross model Denial Fearful Optimistic Obsessive compulsive Second man syndrome Amnesia Confident. Now remember, all these are SUGGESTIONS, YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO ANY OF THESE AT ALL. It's just these tend to be most common in PTSD patients. THE DOCTOR Oh no your patient is going insane what now? GET THE PSYCH IDIOT OR THE CMO, IF YOU AREN'T SCHOOLED IN HANDLING MENTALLY UNSTABLE PATIENTS, DON'T! If they're being dangerous sedate them, if they're being dangerous to themselves sedate them, don't just stand around looking at them while they beat themselves, you're a doctor for gods sakes help! FINISHING NOTES And that's a burrito wrap kids, remember this isn't something you HAVE to follow, it's here just to spice things up if you ran out of things to do after being cloned. Also consider this a WIP, if you want to add something say so in the comments bellow, don't forget to like, favorite, subscribe, follow me on facebook, retweet on twitter, heart me on tumblr, circle me on google+, find my cragslist app and have fun. ALSO props to Aboshehab for giving me the idea of expanding this D6 system.
  2. I think this is purely an issue of not liking consequences. A traitor tries to rambo a prepared security force? Traitors fault. A vampire runs out of blood and hulks, getting himself killed? Vampires fault. Revs try to convert someone who refuses and rats them out? Revs fault. You die because you refused to join the cultists with obvious otherworldly powers? Somehow the cults fault. etc. You do X which leads to Y, if you don't like Y don't do X, simple as that. That's why the rune has two options, you're free to resist to death and leave the round if you don't like it, exactly what happens when people go cryo during rev rounds because their character can't do their super special job anymore. And now the selection of items that force you to help the antag disregarding your characters alignment or backstory. Cult - Convert Rune, Soul shards - Note you can refuse and die, Soul Shards don't work on bodies with no soul in them. Traitor - Freedom Implant, AI subversion board, Blackmailed, Explosive Implant - You cannot resist the first two in any way besides getting a third party involved, Blackmail you can disregard at the cost of RP and the last one is you helping or dying. Vampire - Dominate, Thrall, Turn someone into vampire - No way to refuse the first two, on the third one you're FORCED to hulk and SUCC the first person you see. Rev - Conversion - Can refuse, depending on the situation you get killed/survive/rat them out to security. Loyalists- Conversion, Loyalty implant - First can be refused, second cannot. Wizard - Soul Shard - Again you can refuse. Malf AI - Laws - Unless you have a smart robotics you're bound to the AI with no way to refuse. Now the "We all have to be the same" excuse is just not right, you don't have to listen to other cultists, fuck for all you care you can just stay in your department doing whatever as long as it pleased the dark lord. Make rituals while everyone else runs around maint scribbling runes, try to get your friends converted to the dark lord not because the cult wants it but because you think it's the only way to save them, hell you can run away onto the outpost because you don't want to hurt other people. Now I agree with a few things, yes cult can get shit but because of the same reason Rev gets shit, because of people, everyone has a different opinion on what is fun so while some people like to murderfuck other people like to fuckmurder. Of course revs have to stay somewhat low the whole time because getting weapons as a gardener is hard. With cult you just have to have a tome and you become a one man army. So no, cult shouldn't be removed, I think you should actually TRY playing cult for once and TRY to actually enjoy it instead of just rolling your eyes and resisting your way to death whenever people try to convert you. I have to thank Zundy for providing some ideas, most people go "Do whatever" without realizing that other people might not be as good at improv as others. And also I have to agree with Jackboots, the only people who can fight against a cult is security and chaplain, the latter doesn't exist in cult rounds mostly because they get removed in about five minutes. And as for security there are two ways they can handle this, powergame and try to keep all of the cultists under surveillance 24/7 because they spend a few more minutes than is healthy in maint. Or do what a normal officer would do and arrest them for vandalism, that's about it really if someone is drawing on the floor with their own blood the only thing you can do is point them in the direction of the psych and suspend them from their department, we don't arrest mentally ill people IRL do we? Now not just librarian could have ways to research what cult is doing, how about some crewmembers getting messages when someone uses a rune? Like "You feel like a dark presence is growing". People could start feeling sickly only to feel much better after being converted, headaches when examining a rune as the dark powers seep into their mind or simply having hallucinations once they read the tome too many times. The main weapon of an investigator is getting everyone else to believe them and what better way to make everyone believe in dark powers then having them witness the bad side of it and not the good one?
  3. Thanks for the answers and clearing up the situations, I'm glad you answered every question I asked an pretty well. Also regarding the third question that one was a loaded one, there really was no proper answer, but I agree with you on the fact that saving a HoP is probably the most important as he's the one who can issue access. Hope to see Izkhan in a head position soon.
  4. Dragon my lizardman, I would fully support you getting a head app because you are a level headed thinker and a joy of a roleplayer. But you've had both your ups and down and I'd like to see those things explained before I see you in a head role. First, The Good Don't take being edgy as something bad, yes being needlessly edgy IS bad but him being from Moghes and a Unathi, the species that's born butthurt completely excuses him, there is nothing wrong with edge as longs as it's done tastefully instead of trying to slit your wrist every round for little to no reason. Now one time I've had you around was I think yesterday (29.12.2016), where HoP went full postal after getting tatored with a tommygun + drum mag with the addition of all his armor and other firepower. While most of the officers went ham at first, along with you, you were the one smart enough to realize that beating the HoP with normal security gear is impossible and decided to go back, gear up and actually told the others to disengage and gear up too instead of eating bullets. I think you were even promoted to interim Head of security due to other heads dying and your reactions were quite superb with some pretty good plans on how to get the HoP out of central ring and into maintenance so he can't take any more hostages. So far that round I have a few questions. When do you think lethal force is authorized? When the suspect HAS a weapon or when a suspect USES said weapon? Are you willing to negotiate with hostiles and meet their demands however ridiculous they were or would you rather risk the life of a hostage in a raid? If an antag held HoP, CMO and the CE as their hostages, which one of them would you rather save? Sorry if these seem like loaded questions but I think they're pretty important if you're applying for probably the most potentially dangerous role if abused. Second, The Bad. Right after that round you ruined my taste a bit, we've had a ninja who kept teleporting around and stealing shit, being generally quite annoying to security with us running around in maint trying to kill them. After threats Izkhan was given a full on dark gygax fully armored and everything. Now I didn't have much issue with the fact that later in the round you dueled the ninja 1v1 without weapons as you both ID and DNA locked the Gygax and there were other officers around guarding it. My issue was when your character decided to unload on a space bear with civvies in the cone of fire. Although I admit my character, Al-Afdal, did the same thing the difference in that is that he's a freshly re-assigned cadet while your character is a veteran officer. Plus the difference in weaponry as you were using the Gygaxe's machine-gun while I was using a shotgun, that's a 3-round burst killing machine vs a 1 round snailfest of a gun. And the amount of shots you missed made me worried about all the windows leading to space you broke. For this one I have one quesion, I know it seems a bit intrusive but could you post or screenshots(whichever you prefer) the skills your character has? If you don't want to post it, you don't have to it won't influence my opinion, if you don't want to post it in public just PM it to me. And last, The Ugly. Your character is an eyesore you picked the worst shade of red you could and those goathorns make you look like you have massive eyebrows, plus, who wears the black and red combo in 2458? What are you deathsquad? C'mon dude, it's the CURRENT YEAR. 2/10 would not bang. In all seriousness I hope all these questions gave you something to think about and will help you in becoming a better officer and head of security, looking forward to your answers.
  5. This is well, really solid actually you've covered all the fronts and actually gave a reason how an ALA supporter like him would make it onto a human space station. Few things, most people that go through college don't come out the same as they spend most of their time away from their parents and he was basically surrounded by PRA supporters 24/7, wouldn't this influence and shake his views on the world at-least a bit? Did he try to promote ALA? For example he could have used the school news, or just simply talked to his friends about the possibilites without revealing himself? And, why is he on Exodus anyways? Couldn't he just try and sign up with one of the ships that PRA has? Couldn't he just go back to fighting for ALA? These are all pretty critical questions. Also change the name or I'll go into full assblast mode random gen is shit, SHIIIIIIT
  6. I think I worded it poorly when I said you have over 14 warnings, I simply pressed CTRL+F and checked the number of times word "Warning" was used, which was retarded from me since the word warning shows up twice in every warning given, that was my mistake. But even then you have an unusual collection of notes, bans(some only due to your own request I admit that) and warnings of all kinds and I couldn't overlook such a 'phonebook' of notes on your name. Honestly the last nail in the coffin was one thing you said to me and it went along the lines of, "So what's it going to be Coalf? Another warning, people are waiting for another round", I don't know the exact wording, if admins provide the logs you'll probably find it there. That pretty much told me that you don't really care about having warnings or the fact you even recognized that you made a mistake. There really was a lack of escalation in that situation and although I regret giving you this ban I think it's needed for someone like you to realize what he did and think about it. Again, nothing personal and I'm glad you didn't put this in the Staff Complaint section of the forum, bust I must stand behind my decision and thus behind the ban I gave out.
  7. Please just let him have this, the orange beret with the CE RIG makes me want to stab my fashion loving eyes with a screwdriver, this might actually look good. But in all seriousness Ikrad is a nice well rounded and developed character and I think something like this could only enhance the interactions with him.
  8. Just a single questions, don't magnets fuck with nonelectrical and data devices? Sounds like putting a magnet right next to a posi would be dangerous.
  9. Actually that's a very good point. I don't think I would outright OOCly tell others to release someone, after all this is an IC issue and the security player in question might be doing this because he's playing a corrupt cop or a hothead. I'd simply ask him IF this is how the situation has to play out, this might be an important turning point in his characters development but to me denying someone else fun because of your own fun is a dick move. If it went too far and the player would outright refuse to at-least give some roleplaying freedom to the brigged player I could ask for a "random" inspection from one of our CCIA's, this way the IC experience of both the offender and the offended would be enhanced instead of me saying "Let him go or I ban u". I'm sorry if this answer seems confusing, I had a lot of internal conflict over this thing and had to re-write it a few times since I changed opinions on it.
  10. Finally, it is time for the judge to be judged. Almost no issues with the backstory, it's compact and filled with information we want to know, her reasoning, personality, strengths, weaknesses and motivations, still question. The job, how did Hadassah join NanoTrasen? Was NT her first choice or a last resort? Or was NT simply the only mega-corporation willing to accept an NKA supporter into their ranks? I'd like to know that. And you as a player? Honestly, I'd be delighted to see you play a Tajara, your characters are fun and cheerful and I'm curious to see how you'll tackle a character that is somewhat a lot more tragic in her backstory.
  11. Server Moderator Application Basic Information Byond Account: Coalf Character Name(s): Al-Afdal Mikheyev(Tajara), R.U.R(IPC), Dane Huey(Human), Vol-xuqqix Zao'oqil (Skrell) AI Name(s): Brother Eye and plenty of non-static names. Preferred means of contact:Discord, BYOND pager Age:20 Timezone:UTC+01:00 When are you on Aurora?:About 13:00 to 22:00 without a fail Experience How long have you played SS13?: Joined on Aug 13 2013 How long have you played on Aurora: Wed May 18, 2016 How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: I know pretty much every job with the exception of xenobio and engine setup. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: I used to be a mentor on now deceased Unbound Travels Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: Well way back I was banned on Paradise for pulling the classic WGW over comms. Personality Why do you play SS13?: I used to play it for the greentext and mechanical complexity, but now I've realized that role-play is just as if not better than combat and constant science tweaking, honestly it is one of the few games that has kept my attention for more than two years. Why do you play on Aurora?: Mostly the community, I've met great people here that are not only excellent role-players but are generally friendly even in out of game, of course can't avoid an asshole here and there but that is inevitable. And after my experience with other older servers I can safely say that I enjoy the role-play here the most. What do moderators do?: Moderators are here to provide help and assistance to new players and enforce rules and regulations on everyone even each other. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: Almost the same as above, with the exception that a moderator is expected to keep up the level of role-play that is expected of a HRP server and us such go as an example. Why do you want to be a moderator?: Like I said, I enjoy the community and would like to help in any way I can to keep the server fresh and up to snuff. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I think of myself as a patient and un-salted man and I try to settle conflicts peacefully instead of pushing for action. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: Pretty well, I have never really insulted someone back or yelled at them for insulting me but every person has a breaking point, luckily so far I have not reached mine. Anything Else You Want to Add: Thanks for reading this I guess, don't want to sound too pushy with this.
  12. Long time ago, in interwebz far far away. BAROTRAUMA
  13. Well, I don't have much to say towards this app. I would call it weak in the backstory department but it has everything that a backstory needs, motivation, reasons, personality. Now for the point I can judge you, role-play. You seem like a fine guy on that, you have your on and off moments but we all have our ups and downs don't we? One great instance I remember was Sap being held hostage and a scared hostage at that, actually pleading for your life and I must say it was enjoyable. But one thing, where the fuck does Zohjar work? He's a doctor according to your custom item, who worked at cargo and now works in xenobiology? I mean I saw you learn xenobiology as a lab assistant ICly for 6 rounds I'll give you that but don't you have to have special diplomas for that? I'd like that cleared up. Otherwise I don't know your history and frankly I don't care, people change and shutting you down because you did something a long time ago seems unfair to me.
  14. Well durr hurr Coalf, good job you fucking idiot. I apologize for not being able to read. So no issue from me. +1
  15. Seems like I shall be the first herald of the apocalypse. First the obvious things. So, by reading it I have summed up this, while this guy was 15 years old he became a hunter and got a breacher, now hold on a second, if I am not mistaken Breachers are pretty fucking rare and in a clan that had 450 heads in its prime? Not to mention they gave him a breacher to go hunt food, that is the equivalent of giving someone a tank to go deer hunting. (not including the electronic spear and laser gun (muh honor) ) Now by random conicidence he bumps into this Coalition guy and points his gun at him, at which point the coalition guy pulls out his glaive and for some reason Izkhezash, not only switches to his spear, I guess for honor but gets off of his Azkrazal which makes the animal pointless but hey if he wants his honor. Now at this point he stabs the warrior in the chest and renders him unconscious only for the warrior to be brought back and executed which renders that whole fight completely irrelevant. And suddenly we are somewhere else and Izkhezash has already passed and is in NanoTrasen. I mean, your whole backstory is a massive mess, it seems you wanted to make a cool rootin' tootin' bullet shootin' with no actual way to connect it together, we know nothing about your character, his motivations, history anything, we just know he got in a fight once and was from some clan, that is it. Now the ugly part, where I judge you as a player. You are all over the place man, sometimes you have great moments where role-playing with you can be a joy but those moments are overshadowed by the amount of times where you just acted goofy and annoying. And I get it, being goofy is fine, in moderation. But acting like a pirate five consecutive rounds stops being funny really fast. Honestly this needs work and a lot of work, we have plenty of good Unathi players who would love to give advice to someone like you, ask them.
  16. I've met Mix both as an IPC and M1-X as a cyborg and both encounters were a joy. But It has been barely a week since Mix as an IPC came to be and already applying for a heads of staff? I honestly think you need a bit more time as both an IPC and as a medical doctor in order to be a CMO, being a CMO is not only about knowing the game but also being a people person and optimizing your department so they can be as effective as possible. But that is just my humble opinion.
  17. Yep you pretty much confirmed my thoughts and with gusto too! No issues from me, an earned +1.
  18. Well, I would object but you seem to have everything in there. Origin, intelligence level, feelings and emotions. Honestly I think IPCs are a little too humey (I am also guilty of that), mostly because of how hard it is to play an actual functioning robot. If you're capable of pulling this I'd love to see you around. Of course standard question, characters opinion on the Synth X Anti-synth agenda going on right now? Of course I think I know the answer but I would like to hear the final message from you.
  19. M1-X as an IPC? Yes, I'd very much enjoy this. M1-X has been probably what I could call a staple of what a cyborg player should be, he doesn't stop and bicker about things, he doesn't shout obscenities over the radio and he doesn't yell out every five seconds to talk to someone. He is fast, effective, polite and I can say that every interaction with M1-X has been a good one. Although I will regret the loss of an actually useful borg. But A simple question, as we have the contest running on which side do you see M1-X? Pro-synth? Anti-synth? I am simply curious as I don't really see M1-X on either side.
  20. Happy Hanukkah to you too buddeh.
  21. I think Hunter plays character that are quite competent in their jobs and he knows his shit regarding xenobiology. A bit of a warning, every time Edgar becomes an Interim RD a massive stick is blue-spaced up his ass and it is an extremely jarring change when Edgar suddenly becomes this un-approchable, paperwork hungry creature of the night instead of his usual normal self, it's probably you trying to be as professional as you can be since you are trying to become an RD, but this massive personality change is just weird and I can't be the only one that notices, but hey what do I know, maybe it's on purpose, people tend to become assholes when they get promoted. Anyways no other issues and I wouldn't mind him to be a head. +1
  22. Yes thank you for typing out this massive response in order to say "git gud" on a HRP server where you sneaked behind two antags who were trying to spark an interesting hostage situation which you promptly ruined by using, not injections no, auto-injectors, which don't even produce a warning message when used. Sec didn't get to roleplay shit, hostages didn't get to roleplay shit, antags didn't get to roleplay shit, all we got was *click* *click* and the entire situation was resolved, not a single /me. That is on par with an traitor coming to medbay, and using a parapen+c4 to down you and massdriver the brain without a single word because "He prefers when assassins display a little competence now and then" Antags are here to create interesting situations and make crew have fun, shutting them down like this is /vg/ or even hippie tier bullshit. I fully agree with Someone for once in the fact that you ruined an interesting situation just so you could feel robust.
  23. I really am amazed at this Muncorn, I know what kind of characters you tend to backstory and this is, amazingly plain and boring. Don't take it as an insult, it's quite refreshing seeing a normal dude being a captain and not only that he's 52 instead of barely hitting the captaincy limit with his age. Also male? Since when do you play guys? Anyways now we get serious. I've played with you, I know you, but do I know you enough? So far every time I encountered you it's been in a normally low tier role such as librarian, plain old medical or a simple security officer and now you want to tackle the power a Captain can have. So I have to give you a question, do you want to be a Captain/head? I mean you made this app yes but have you considered all cons as well as pros? Being a captain can be extremely stressful and as someone who I haven't really seen in a command role this could really ruin your impression of the game, don't forget there are plenty of capable people but you have to deal with greytiding, in-fighting and bickering almost alone, the only people capable of providing help are going to be heads which are (depending on time and day) either taking over your job completely or never there. Plus you will mostly likely be a number one target for all antagonists and that can be frustrating when 7/10 times are spent being dead since somebody decided to bomb your office or the AI just fucked off with oxygen. So I urge you, please, please, think this stuff over, I have met plenty of people who got burned out on playing head roles simply from the fact they were too frustrated with the staff. But if you can answer all of these things positively, I think you would be a capable captain, although I'd keep a regulations tab open in your internet 24/7 from now on, expect a lot of lawyer work and paperwork. tl;dr +1 git gud scrub
  24. I'd call you shit but people already did that instead I'm going to give you a proper robusting tip that works 90% of time and counters every single fucking OP thing, I mean everything, batons, knives, spears, breacher and oh yeah, EVERYTHING ELSE (except cats). This dude is robusting hot bitches and basically, you're fucking stupid Want to find out how? Just click here. every single weapon in the game completely countered, *cough* except emitter *cough*.
  25. In an amazing display of retardation by me I set the pastebin to private instead of unlisted, it should be readable now. Pyro you just don't understand my point of view.
