  1. I believe the player/s should be punished or atleast given a warning for the shitty meymey phrase yes, BUT I don't believe they should be punished for the count of sexual harassment as it was an IC issue that was solved ICly. I don't find any issue in sexual harrassment in-game as long as it is done well and tastefully, using demeaning insults can lead to interesting character plot -points and it serves very well in provoking characters to do things they wouldn't do normally. Again, well and tastefully, the above was neither.
  2. Additionally add cig paper rolls so I can roll up my own cigs like a real poor man.
  3. I agree with most of the points but here's the thing, this isn't really a "server culture" problem as you called it, this is a fundamental fault in the game itself. SS13 wasn't made for serious, heavy roleplay with long-lasting consequences, people like us simply took the genre and tried to do our best to fix it to our needs, yet it is still obvious it wasn't made to cater to this type of play. "I got carried away" spoiler tl;dr SS13 is a shitty platform for serious quality roleplay and so is daily gaming, the former because mechanics are in the way and latter because people burn out faster.
  4. I'll be honest I hate Rob Oster OOCly completely and hope you kill him as soon as possible. Otherwise you're a decent person and an actually decent roleplayer you clinged to Oster for way too long and I hope you stick to this character for longer than the others. Now, lorewise I can't speak up much, there are no real discrepencies as far as I can see the few things I question are, I mean how did he not notice his father going away on a Guwandi mission? Even while being bullied I think he'd have time to check if his father was alive or something or people would rub it in his face. Also can we eliminate the "snowflakey" thing? That's like "stop being so original" I mean what? I like that Berry actually decided to do something that's completely out of the fucking norm and make a Guwan that actually deserves 100% to be a guwan and acts like a proper Guwan. Duwang. I like it

    Craftable FBPs/IPCs

Bug if I remember you joined kinda recently right? Might be wrong on that, but the reason I'm asking is because we didn't have the mechanical option for human brain IPCs BUT they did exist. Thing is this option was removed I think a year ago, now I don't know the exact details but I think it was because the LoreOverseers didn't want for IPCs to become this way to transhumanism which isn't really their intended purpose as far as I see it. Now there are also technicaly parts, like that IPCs can't support MMI's due to heating I think? The second reason is that cyborgification is a PUNISHMENT and a punishment for life, it's a substitute for execution, it's why borgs are brain murdered so they retain no notion of who they were in their past lives, rewarding a borg by making him an IPC can be compared to reviving a murderer because his corpse was useful. Now for my opinion. I personaly am not a fan of robotic transhumanism, firstly because I think AI transhumanism is a concept done to death in so many, many, MANY sci-fi novels that at this point if I see the word "AI" in a newer novel series I put it down, secondly from the fact that a streak of bad interactions with both humanistic Borg and IPC players made me dislike both borgs and IPCs, I know this is completely annecdotal and I'm sure "X robot is not that bad" but I have yet to meet a borg or an IPC I enjoy talking or interacting with. But that's just my opinion.

    Cult Rework?

I've always heard complaints about cult being a force antag gamemode. That's why things like rev are so hated. I tried to make this system of conversion give you a chance to resist conversion. For current cult, if you get captured you're either becoming a cultist or dying and becoming a construct. If the conversion is distant, then you can continue to RP (even if you're insane), and try to find a way to cure yourself of the corruption. I'd like to hear more of what you think about this system when compared to the current one. One thing I agree with 100% is that cult needs a progression bar, as of now a single cultist can figure out EVERY WORD spending 10 minutes of the round writing runes in maintenance, hell I've seen people complete the book withing 5 minutes! Adding a progression bar to cult will fix one thing, murderbone cult will become much MUCH harder since cultists will actually need to gain verbs through in-game interaction. The thing I don't agree with is this This is like throwing a parachute to a drowning man. People that complain about forced conversion are simply whiners, they're not going to go away with the addition of this. I have argued time and time again with these people and the issue can be summed up thusly, "My character would not do that." Except this is exactly what their character would do, joining a cult in itself IS INSANITY. If you read Lovecrafts short stories the protagonist often tells these stories in past-tense, already post insanity the reason for this is, these characters survive those stories, they go insane AFTER the matter but how do their interactions with the cults go? Join or die, same as our own. The cult of Cthulhu? Join or die, Cult of Miigo? Join, die or become a brain in a jar. Cult of Dagon? Join or die. Shadow over Innsmouth? The populance had two options, join or die, outsiders had one, die. But your insanity system? There is a wide difference between a sol marine that witnessed his friend being burned by a flamethrower and a cutie cargo tech from Essex who saw a splinter wound once and fainted. This is why the rune conversion system has a "Resist", if your character is tough he can resist the conversion for much longer or hell DIE because of how strong his will is. What you're giving us is an iron bar, when you reach X points you are automatically cult or insane, unless resisting has some kind of drawbacks you better believe people are going to abuse resist as they do now. And curing insanity after it happens? Again this is either going to be abused to hell which makes it useless or people are going to complain it forces their character to act a certain kind of way. Third issue is the avalanche issue. The reason Vampire, Wizard, Traitor and Ninja are so popular because there is a semblance of quality control, there is one/few antags causing trouble, they have a plan and they go through it. Meanwhile Revs/Loyalists and Cultists face one issue, not enough AOOC communication. At the start a gimmick is agreed on but as the round progresses more people join, and when say for example, Frank McDinkler converts Chef La Newguy the Newguy may not understand the gimmick fully, Newguy converts Baldie Von Baldson and Baldson only knows half of the half that Newguy understood and this goes on and on and in the end you have a massive group of people that have NO idea what the gimmick is and they revert to their natural state and result to their basic instincts, sex murder and trying to summon Nar'sie for any price. Again the progression COULD solve this but the inherit issue is in the lack of communication of playerbase, we have AOOC for gods sake people use it, most of the time people talk at roundstart with it and then never use it again, thus new people have no idea how to use it. Fourth issue, metagame/powergame. We often like to pretend like this doesn't exist, but it does and even if our staff team is probably stronger than ever it's hard to spot these instances as people lack the drive to ahelp powergaming until it directly influences their style of play. Right now the biggest issue of cult is the clear powergame of security, people outright questioning you about "where did you get these cuts????" when you're wearing a jumpsuit with long sleeves, security outright just "knowing" how to counter cult, people arresting cultists with HuT sentences for killing a monkey in maint instead of maybe submitting them to the psychiatrist for help. Cultists being pretty much STALKED by security after only being suspected of doing cult stuff. I have created the Oroboros theory for this. Player tries RP conversion>Gets shut down by convertee/security immediatly>Player decides to murderbone>Everyone else is upset at murderbone and tries to shutdown cult more>Player quits cult after being shutdown by security>New player joins cult and tries to RP conversion et cetera. We have had for multiple weeks the same 3-6 players begin as cult over and over because people refuse to enable cult and maybe try it out. Again maybe the progression bar could fix this, but I doubt it. I am sorry if I sounded a bit hostile in this, none of this is aimed at you and I still FULLY SUPPORT this change because I feel like nothing bad can be done with this, the question I am simply posing is. Is it worth it? To me all we're doing is choosing if we want to wear a glove on the left hand or the right hand and just because something is new doesn't mean it will be better.
  9. Recently I've engaged in a binge of documentaries detailing African and South American tribes and their culture and after watching these and thinking them over I realized that they resemble the Unathi thought process, although they are more related to Japan these African and South American tribes also place the same if not even more value on honor, family and religion. I looked through the threads and lore channel and didn't really find anything actually detailing the period of growth of a young Unathi, most question seems to be more concerned about where they come from, which is quite frankly the disgusting and not required part. No my question is, how do young Unathi grow up? Childhood I spoilered these first two questions as they're more biological than cultural, you're free to not answer them if you don't want to. - How much importance is given to this hatching? Are there special rituals? Does it depend on the individual clan? Do they celebrate some kind of birthday? Hatchday? - How quickly do unathi respect this cultural gender difference? We know that Unathi females are given somewhat of a "less important" role in society, but how quickly does it start? Are they seperated clearly from infancy or is it more of a, teenage thing? - Are hatchlings of for example, shamans and leaders given more special attention or are they given the same treatment as children of normal working Unathi? - How different would exactly be the childhood of a Unathi living within a city and living in the outback with their clan. - We know females are given the role of raising children, but what about their fathers? Do they bond with their kids before they become fully grown? - Is the hatred towards Guwan's enforced from this young of an age or not? Teenagehood - Are there specific "coming of age" rituals? Is it specific per clan? Are there any at all? - How important are children actually? Are they just bargaining chips for adults? Does it depend on the specific family or clan? - What's considered "Being a teenager"? Just crashing around the super market smoking cigs? Helping your 'pa hunt? Learning social mannerisms from you mother? Adulthood - When is a unathi regarded as too old to have kids? Is there like a prefered age to raise children? - What about grandparents? How much influence do grandparents have in the household? - Most of the character we know either grew up hunters or warriors, sons of ye olden legends, but what's considered a "normal" unathi? Just an average job in retail? Excuse me for making this so extensive but a lot of whitelist seem to skip over the beginning and run into the "juicier" parts headfirst and when I create my characters I like to actually create a small story for them and how exactly they'd be influenced by their surroundings. Thank you in advance.

    Cult Rework?

Don't know what will stop shitlers from shouting CULTS IN MY MAINTS WHIP OUT THE SHLONGBATON besides moderation, which people complain about right now. And the complaint that people are forced to be cult or construct, instead now people have to be cult or insane. Or murdercult just going ham as soon as they get enough stuff. I am an avid defender of current cult and I want to say I DON'T disagree with the change, I'm just pointing out that you're switching crocks for socks&sandals. It's the same thing with a different wrapper.
  11. What Menown meant by that is. 1: Naming your character after your Ckey seems like self-inserting, something unfavorable in the roleplay community. 2: Just avoiding lore is not allowed in your application, one of he many reasons for these applications to exist is for people to show understanding of the lore and display that they're capable of playing the species up to snuff. 3: Your application is short, vague and all around horrible.
  12. I remember Jakobs, yes he was shit. Yet still I remember Huff and I remember Huff much, much more and in the positive light. Although he likes to huff and puff he's still one of the actually VERY capable engineers that doesn't blindly lead a crossbow and spear charge against every antag he finds, just on that I'd give you a +1. The thing is I planned to bitch about a backstory, but really, I suprisingly found nothing to bitch about, everything seems to actually fit and although as previously mentioned your reasons seem to be more mechanical than lore-related it's clear you have actually read the lore. Although I'd question where a Tajara hospital got access to such advanced prosthetics besides them being imported. Otherwise I have no issue with this, good work.
  13. You uh, you have a very worked out backstory. The thing is you most likely aren't going to be accepted until you spend some time on the server itself as another character so we can see how you play and how exactly you will play the character you're whitelisting as. This is a trust based system so go out there, build some trust.
  14. Not bad, certainly a refreshing application with all the simple Zhan miner's arriving recently. The ALA alignment is suprising and seems actually tastefuly done, I am curious to see how you'll handle that on station since you're basically a terrorist colaborator. I have to say I had a giggle at the band and love the idea, question got all the band members and what they played? Anyways one serious question. How exactly do they plan to send the money back on Adhomai to ALA? I'm guessing an ATM machine isn't really an option since funds can be tracked, how do they plan to do this exactly? That's I think all, for all the shitty opinions Paradox has in Discord he's a decent guy. So yes, he has my support.
  15. Interview with the applicant. https://pastebin.com/LaSEKGpr
  16. I know Ally and I know his character, he's actually pretty good. Backstory is, well it's quite bland but functional a few questions though. 1: If the family was so poor, how did they get on the Frontier? After all it's the wild west of space and people go there to get fast cash, seems kinda iffy that a family would be able to go there but not go back. Huh actually I guess I just had one question, well alright.
  17. I have to say I disliked Evan's as a character very much and always considered you an alpha level powergamer. That's why I'm pleasantly suprised how much you've turned around, it seems you got your head straight and checked yourself before you shreked yourself, Costle is actually a very normal person and you yourself actually roleplay decently, so playerwise I have no issues. But the backstory is so beatiful, it's just so amazingly generic it's like you tried to make it as generic, vanilla and boring as possible. Now don't mistake me for someone who has to be spoonfed backstory or absolute protector of snowflakes, but this backstory to me just seems like you making a character and running it through checkmarks. Family? Check War? Check Learning basic? Check NanoTrasen? Check Visa? Check We don't know so many things and many more don't even make sense. This character clearly wants to avoid fighting, alright that's a task of many people so maybe we should see how exactly he did that? Your character appears to just be living a normal life of a dumb farmer Zhan village boy, how in the hell did he avoid conscription? There is no description of him hiding, inflicting wounds on himself, dressing as a girl or just plaing old pretending to be insane (All of these things did happen in order to avoid conscription and get a blue book), no instead he works, goes to the capital, THE CAPITAL somehow avoiding every single officer, policemen or rat with zero issues. And if we're on the capital thing, we know his family is very poor, how does he get there? "Learn basic," what does that mean? Farmer's, in villages especially, would often make their children skip school so they could help on farms plus these Adolescence Tau Ceti Basic lesssons, how? Where are they getting this money? Is he using everything he makes in his waging to pay for those? How did he get accepted? Is this some kind of school or a tutor? Also "Village did not take side in a war," no, not really this is not how it works, they're under the republic control, they fight for the republic you can't say no to superiors, hell you could have described why the village is skipped over with the drafting system. Same with these "bad times" what happened? Papa got injured? Mom is sick? Timmy fell down a well? Bad times don't just magically appear, there are reasons to these things, again something you could have described, bringing us closer to the character. ALL THESE THINGS, are interesting and tell us how this character managed to survive for so long, yet you use none of them, just kinda put them there. The second part has a reason to be boring, it is boring. It's just paperwork and formalities that's why I'm glad you kept it short but again how did he find out about NanoTrasen? What drew him to NanoTrasen from other firms? Why exactly NT a completely alien company that will most likely send this dumb, poor, Zhan village boy somewhere into a galaxy far far away? On that note WHY did he learn Tau Ceti basic anyways instead of something a lot useful like agriculture, smithing, drilling, etc.? As a player, I respect you but this backstory is just lacking in descriptions and facts, this just feels like you were nervous about getting the whitelist so you made the least offensive, checklist oriented and vague backstory. So no, I don't dislike this but PLEASE elaborate.
  18. Yes please THIS. This game isn't PvE (most of the time) there will be winners and there will be losers just accept that. So stop complaining about getting arrested, blowing up, being culted or simply dying. If you think it lacked RP, was ganky or plain bullshit ahelp it, we'll look into it and you can move on, screaming insults in LOOC doesn't help your case.
  19. Most of these complaints boil down to "I don't like how the character is designed." instead of being a legitimate issue, but one thing Ally touched on that I have to agree on is the "fame" around Uwasv. Now the reason Uwasv has this "fame" is exactly because he wasn't acting like your normal Unathi, normal Unathi are almost always un-approchable hardasses that are extremely toxic to their enviroment this is exactly why Uwasv gathered such a following because he broke the said mold, he's the most approchable Unathi on station by a non-Unathi, non-agressive person. I've had a few talks with him and it's clear he still is a Unathi being unreasonably upset for the most trivial things and being incapable of crossing a room without making a grudge BUT he's the unathi that can go the farthest without developing said grudge, do keep in mind this is an anecdotal example but I think it fits. Just because he's more emotional doesn't mean it's a bad character. He was a Guwaned for being an orphan which is probably the most unfair way to become a guwan and since the society rejected him since his early childhood he too rejected the society, now if Uwasv became a Guwan later in life this would be in-excusable behaviour but this makes perfect sense. Of course he isn't without fault, the metacircle is an issue like I said but there is a very thin line between a metacircle and a relationship and so far I have seen ONE person taking it maybe a bit too far. Also do remember that relationships can be a oneway ship, just because one character wants to shag the other doesn't mean the other character thas the same intentions and believe me I know plenty about that. Second Elohi is a person and Uwasv really isn't the most non-unathi, unathi I have met, some didn't even put effort into it and Sid does last time I had an actual talk with him he was clearly upset he is a Guwan which is a natural response to someone who is Guwan, he resents the society that created him but ultimately still seeks affirmation of that society, much like a kid wants to be aknowledged by their dad even if their dad abandoned them. Honestly this is more of a "I don't like the way this character is designed," than a "This character ignores the lore to be a fursona." He clearly aknowledges the lore and works withing it's confines. tl;dr I spend a lot of words on saying what people before me already said. Still good work on making a character complaint, we have too many people complaining about other characters not doing anything about it besides bitching a lot, this enables Elohi to potentially fix his character if there is something wrong with him or to explain why he acts like he acts and we could all use a character complaint against us once in a while. Except me because I'm perfect.
  20. Ave Dominia victoria enim nostrum. Good work on fleshing out what was just a simple meme. But question, are all of those 8 Bluespace ships military ships? Wouldn't it make sense for atleast a few of them to be transport ships or maybe colony/reasearch ships?
  21. Something something [iNSERT MEME HERE] bla bla bla results. FIRST PLACE:Raymond Hawkins, 4 votes SECOND PLACE:Vira Bolivar, 3 votes THIRD PLACE:Anthony Kell and Yumi Yotin, 2 votes Nobody actually cares about this bullshit, you all want to see the DF DEATH MATCH BATTLES Well, Faysal won due to the fact he sat in the corner plicking at people with a crossbow and missing. After he ran out of ammo he ran up to passed out Vira and bashed her head in with a crossbow loosing his arm in the process. Yeah this uh, this one was pretty weak, nothing special. I'm done.
  22. Last poll. I dont even care anymore http://www.strawpoll.me/12925159 http://www.strawpoll.me/12925159 http://www.strawpoll.me/12925159
  23. Well cry over it chuckle pumpkins because we are finished with the waifu contest! FIRST PLACE:NT-A 486 with staggering 15 votes! SECOND PLACE:Ashley Paynter with 8 votes! THIRD PLACE:Kalmiya with 6 votes! Now because voting is fucking BOOOOOORING I decided to have a friendly competition with all the waifus that were voted! So I decided to pit them against each other in Dwarf Fortress. Here are the highlights! MOST BLOODTHIRSTY:Curel Wald! Claiming three kills as she slowly sneaked across the ground and slit the throat of anyone who was unconcious or wounded! MOST CRUEL:NT-A 486 wins this one as this lovely synthetic decided to simply lob off limbs and leave the fighters fighting for their life, this robot could simply not be stoppped and as for finishing Hurlock she simply caved her knee in and then slashed her accross the chest leatting out all the organs for the world to see. MOST VIGUROUS:Usara Yinzr! Even with both of her limbs missing she never gave up an latched on NT-A's neck with her bare teeth! Of course she bled out later. MOST MEDIOCRE:Samiya Radka! Even though her 5 votes got her some pretty good bronze gear she was publicly shamed as Wald kicked her in the knee, took off her helmet and Hurlock proceeded to slit her throat! BIGGEST AVENGER:Abigail Hurlock! As Yurick Ali died thanks to a fiesty throat slit Hurlock went into a rampage killing Radka, Wald and lastly trying to face against NT-A, but the robot prooved to be too much for her. MOST MANLY:Yurick Ali! As some people bitched he wasn't in the Husband contest he was in the waifu contest! And he claimed two kills too! Good on you. And now for some pictures. Arena in the start: And end: Mother VS Daughter: Last kill of the match: Hope you enjoyed this slaughter as much as I did and tune in next time for the "Best Parent" poll.
