1. On one hand you should have specified WHY the Tcomms were disabled. On the other hand TT should have investigated further. On the legs, you both argued schematics for 20 minutes instead of doing either of those previous things.
2. Thanks for the support so far everyone. Patrick is going to work a lot with people, he is after all a Head of Personell and even other departments have personell, thus I think Patrick is going to spend plenty of time going from department to department managing personell without getting in the way of other heads. Of course only on Code Green as during code Blue and Red there are other priorities.
3. Again most likely not your fault, but people in the presence of Hawking and cultists seem more whipped into actual confrontational engagement, but causation =/= corolation and thus it could have simply been a few unfortunate rounds with unfortunate officers that i've witnessed and been told stories about as people like to exagarate their personal stories to attain more pity points. Similar to the previous vampire issue, it seems that, sadly, people have gotten too inspired in their "Burn the witch" mindset and sometimes when performing such actions I've seen "Heh just like with Hawkings XD" in LOOC or Dsay, of course these were one-off mentions and mind not be related at all. Now that I think about it most my issues with your character are the people around the character making it into a meme and assuming things instead of doing their research.
4. Yes but you see, you should have already been on a good level of interaction beforehand before forcing yourself into situations you might not be able to process or handle, I know from experience it's really easy to fall back into reflex and just powergame your way out of an issue. I solved this by becoming severly unrobust. While I admit I exagarated in the "severe lack" your RP is still not up to something I'd consider above-average, but that could be simply from the fact I have BARELY seen any other character than Fernando and he himself is barely on station as a miner. You see why I'm concerned about this? You actually aren't on station to talk to people that much and while you talk to miners a plenty as I've seen it, miners tend to be simple people with simple dialogue and simple minds. (Characters not players) I like this part, you admit it will be a difficult job and I myself admit I am not opossed to you getting the whitelist, I am opossed to you getting the whitelist and getting burned out in two days at which point you jump back to Fernando and never play CMO again, which I have seen happen PLENTY of times with peopel who've gotten a heads of staff. These questions were also intended for the general public to view your opinion, I'm not against giving you this whitelist but remember, if you decide to just quit after a week or two I'll haunt you forever. +1
5. Well well well, if it isn't a bunch of scared memes not posting an actual opinion. Well I have no fear so I'll dump some truth on your ass. First off Abosh you at first have seemed to fall into the pitfall of "Throw shit at the wall and see what sticks" with your characters but coincidentally this one seems to have stuck with the people, that's why I'm going to SLANDER IT. Raymond Hawkins What a swell guy huh? I think you've done well capturing the "Strict but just" package to the point where people with daddy issues take him as a father figure, he has a real sense of real to him, while dramatic and serious he can also be seen enjoying the finer things in life, drink, bikes, weapons and other such stuff in a BELIEVABLE manner. So far Hawkins feels real and like an actual person aboard the NSS Aurora (Or whatever the name is now) But alas, to every face there is an ass. The memes Achtung the memes, as we know every popular character gathers a crowd around them that wants to interact and eventually through repeated actions they also gain memetic anomality, of course you yourself can't control and are not responsible for what other people do but it really does detract from who Raymond really is, while making a joke here and there is acceptible plenty of people take it too far, but again this isn't your fault just the fault of whoever else is reading thing, yes, even you Stefan. The validhunting. That's an exagaration, but honestly? Playing Cult or Vampire with Raymond in round is borderline annoying and impossible, god forbid you have a Unathi with you, then it's just straight to cryo. While I understand it's really fun to burn heretics and act zelaous it can get easily out of hand and people tend to form a lynch mob and while it really is fun even as the antag the first time, it really is not pleasant the 5th time around when you're getting point blank leathaled by a security officer whipped into a frenzy by his commander shouting "KILL THE HERETICS".dramatic reconstruction Really and that's about it! Raymond is a well balanced, grounded character with his own personallity, likes, dislikes and hobbies! If anything he's a prime example of a good character walking around Aurora and a proof that we can still be HRP instead of HRP if we really try our best.
6. Got a mistake there friend. Backstory is run of the mill stuff no complaints no compliments, everyone pretty much makes white bread when applying for heads, even me. But there is an issue I want to address. Are you going to improve your style and demeanor on RP? Both OOC and IC you've shown severe lack in Roleplay and as I remember it one of your continuous major issues seems to be interaction with people itself. And you have to admit, this is a MASSIVE issue. If you're applying for a role that does nothing besides interact and talk to people in their department as you yourself said, which means interaction, lots and lots of interactions along with solving command issues, security breaking into medical and much much more bullshit. Otherwise you're very mechanically and robustically gifted and I admit I'd like to see someone capable in medbay besides the usuals that appear once the moon is full and the stars shine over R'lyeth as Cthulhu awakens from his grave. But until you address the issues above I'll be withdrawing my judgement.
7. BYOND key:Coalf Character names:Patrick Huey, Dane Huey, Elwood Hoover, Scoop (More previously but they were PURGED) How long have you been playing on Aurora?:2 years give or take Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?:I've played pretty much every job, I want to give heads a try. Why did you come to Aurora?:To roleplaying in SS13 Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?:Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is about interaction first and foremost. While many of us love developing backstories and flavor to our characters in the end it all boils down to interaction, the best comparison I've seen is that Aurora is a high-school drama class play, while the characters often have exagarated reactions and cheesy backstories you still stay to see how exactly these characters interact and spark against each other. I'm not dissing the creation of backstories but what you truly need for a good character is their behaviour, mindset and motivation a character without either of those three is incomplete. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: To have fun and provide fun. Why yes inheritly with being head comes responsibility not only over your department but over the entire round as a single head decision can make or break a round but in the end they are still players playing a game of SS13 and if their purpose is something else than just having fun, well it's to me misguided, why would you play a game if not to have fun? What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Whitelisted players hold one of the biggest responsibilities and that is the responsibility over the entire round. It could be said that a Head is as important and as round-changing as an antagonist, they hold command over not only their department but technically also over entire security as what a head says tends to be the de facto law to our lovely security players and thus a misinfromed head can easily destroy an entire round. On the other hand a capable head can enhance the round of both the antagonist and station crew tenfold with proper managment and leeway towards certain actions. Akin to Server Staff, heads inherit responsibility and enjoyment of the game and that is not the only similarity, thus I'd uphold as I have upheld them to date as a moderator. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name:Patrick Huey Character age:42 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Patrick lived a quite dull and uneventful life, such life has often been disturbed by the behaviour of Patricks father, Dane Huey, who's eccentric behaviour and obvious drinking problem caused a divorce at the time of this divorce Patrick was nine years old and it developed quite the lasting impact on his life, mainly since this was the first time Patrick was involved with law and it's inner workings. Since that day Patrick took a liking to lawyers, judges, federal executives and many such roles and thus this early in life he decided what exactly he wanted to do. Both his parents were very supportive of this decision and although his mother provided most of the financial backing his father didn't stay behind and every possible penny scrounged up was given to his account, which often got a laugh out of Patrick. Patrick thus spent his early years acquiring a degree in law, those years to Patrick seemed to pass in the blink of an eye and soon it was time for him to choose a job. It was during this time Patrick became quite interested in the political activities of the ATLAS group, he understood their fear of rampant AI's, love for biological and mechanical augmentations and their support and respect of hard working blue collars. With his new interest in mind he chose to defend and represent the group on many ocassions but none of them were as important as Pat wanted. Eventually Patrick returned to college and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Managment attempting to start a firm to fully support his political career but after a few years he discovered that starting a company in an already company heavy enviroment is borderline impossible and had to file for bankruptcy shortly after. And when you can't beat them, join them. After the Sol incursion of the Tau Ceti system and the harsh actions of now condemned admiral Frost, Patrick found himself on Biesel working to join a new job position, not only did the synthetic crash free up plethera of work but the economical hit left the market crying for people who knew how to manage people and manage money and Pat was both of those things. Now after multiple tests, prods and interview Patrick Huey finds himself working as a Head of Personell aboard the brand new Aurora station, hoping to climb the corporate ladder and get everything he deserves. What do you like about this character?: He's a very grounded and basic character, nothing too special and I wouldn't even call him much of a protagonist or antagonist of anyones story, more of an extra in the back. I like his motivation and drive to pick himself up and try new things, even after all this time his own goals and motivations is what keeps him going, I also like the general sinister feel of him that you feel around people in his position and of his mindset, this feeling that they're never completely honest with you. What do you dislike about this character?: Ironically what I like is also what I dislike, he seems boring and I hope I can potray someone like him accurately without any "Memetic" and "out of character" behaviour. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: He's logical, he has experience, he has education and most importantly he has a motive something he thinks plenty of people lack as they simply go day-to-day without any higher goal. And as stated he has worked with people, be it law, managment or politics he is involved with people if he likes it or not. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: On a scale of 1 to 10. Yes Extra notes:
8. You posted in the wrong neighbourhood. Moving topic to appropriate place .
9. You have a giant list of negative admin feedback, you have broken plenty of rules in the book. BUT for those you were already punished and I recognize that dropping your connection isn't an actual valid reason. But remember, you're on thin crust and if you seriously don't change your behaviour and read the rules you'll be swimming in a sauce of trouble. Unban will take immediate effect after this post.
10. Alright let me explain my reasoning. As a chef with the skillset of a god I.E you had all your skills put up to proffesional the exceptions being the "useless" skills which were put to Amateur, like cooking, as a chef. Hacking doors is something mostly greytiders do and after later investigation I discovered you really were hacking doors just to fix them after an assistant that is still something you shouldn't do as a chef. Plus I gave you good five to ten minutes to reconnect, I asked other staff currently on the server if it's okay to apply said ban at this lenght of being disconnected to which they agreed. Now this alone isn't really a reason for the 4 day ban. The reason for that ban is that you have, over the course of only this month, accumulated so much negative staff feedback regarding pure greytiding and un-awarness of the rules that I simply decided to give you a time to read the rules and wonder if this server style of play is indeed the correct one for you. I'd say you're on thin crust but we're past that point. So no, I'm not considering to lift this ban.
11. As Sleepy pointed out, notes are just that, notes. We simply note down any (most) moderator interferance with the round so that when people later, for example, complain we can go back and look if someone somewhere already did something about it.
12. The staff wasn't an admin but a mod, Muncorn . The rule in question is as follows, "Characters must be named following a Firstname Lastname model (e.g. "John Smith"). No honorifics, nicknames or middle names (with exceptions for compound names such as Van/Von/Bin X). Think of your in-game name as the name printed on your work ID. Exceptions are made to alien races with alternate naming mechanics, such as the Diona or IPCs, please consult their specific wiki pages for exact details. In general, avoid reference/famous/joke names, please." Specifically rule 2 from "Creating Characters" The name "Ned Ed" is silly simple as that, it migh be present in real life yet there are also 5 people named Zzyzx, 2 named Optimus Prime and atleast 3 Dragonborn's yet we still wouldn't allow those. The fact is Ned and Ed are bot short for Edward making the character Edward Edward. You have a plethera of names you can use, plus the added abillity to make new names completely up such as, Nedison, which isn't an actual name.
13. Well it makes sense something like this would exist and the reason nobody applied for it before? Just the meme, that's it, it was a massive meme. Give it 3 months and someone will apply for a fidget spinner
14. I was honestly skeptical but, good job. Also glad you didn't get heatstroke in that thing like holy damn.
15. I believe the player/s should be punished or atleast given a warning for the shitty meymey phrase yes, BUT I don't believe they should be punished for the count of sexual harassment as it was an IC issue that was solved ICly. I don't find any issue in sexual harrassment in-game as long as it is done well and tastefully, using demeaning insults can lead to interesting character plot -points and it serves very well in provoking characters to do things they wouldn't do normally. Again, well and tastefully, the above was neither.
16. Additionally add cig paper rolls so I can roll up my own cigs like a real poor man.
17. I agree with most of the points but here's the thing, this isn't really a "server culture" problem as you called it, this is a fundamental fault in the game itself. SS13 wasn't made for serious, heavy roleplay with long-lasting consequences, people like us simply took the genre and tried to do our best to fix it to our needs, yet it is still obvious it wasn't made to cater to this type of play. "I got carried away" spoiler tl;dr SS13 is a shitty platform for serious quality roleplay and so is daily gaming, the former because mechanics are in the way and latter because people burn out faster.
18. I'll be honest I hate Rob Oster OOCly completely and hope you kill him as soon as possible. Otherwise you're a decent person and an actually decent roleplayer you clinged to Oster for way too long and I hope you stick to this character for longer than the others. Now, lorewise I can't speak up much, there are no real discrepencies as far as I can see the few things I question are, I mean how did he not notice his father going away on a Guwandi mission? Even while being bullied I think he'd have time to check if his father was alive or something or people would rub it in his face. Also can we eliminate the "snowflakey" thing? That's like "stop being so original" I mean what? I like that Berry actually decided to do something that's completely out of the fucking norm and make a Guwan that actually deserves 100% to be a guwan and acts like a proper Guwan. Duwang. I like it

Craftable FBPs/IPCs

Bug if I remember you joined kinda recently right? Might be wrong on that, but the reason I'm asking is because we didn't have the mechanical option for human brain IPCs BUT they did exist. Thing is this option was removed I think a year ago, now I don't know the exact details but I think it was because the LoreOverseers didn't want for IPCs to become this way to transhumanism which isn't really their intended purpose as far as I see it. Now there are also technicaly parts, like that IPCs can't support MMI's due to heating I think? The second reason is that cyborgification is a PUNISHMENT and a punishment for life, it's a substitute for execution, it's why borgs are brain murdered so they retain no notion of who they were in their past lives, rewarding a borg by making him an IPC can be compared to reviving a murderer because his corpse was useful. Now for my opinion. I personaly am not a fan of robotic transhumanism, firstly because I think AI transhumanism is a concept done to death in so many, many, MANY sci-fi novels that at this point if I see the word "AI" in a newer novel series I put it down, secondly from the fact that a streak of bad interactions with both humanistic Borg and IPC players made me dislike both borgs and IPCs, I know this is completely annecdotal and I'm sure "X robot is not that bad" but I have yet to meet a borg or an IPC I enjoy talking or interacting with. But that's just my opinion.

Cult Rework?

I've always heard complaints about cult being a force antag gamemode. That's why things like rev are so hated. I tried to make this system of conversion give you a chance to resist conversion. For current cult, if you get captured you're either becoming a cultist or dying and becoming a construct. If the conversion is distant, then you can continue to RP (even if you're insane), and try to find a way to cure yourself of the corruption. I'd like to hear more of what you think about this system when compared to the current one. One thing I agree with 100% is that cult needs a progression bar, as of now a single cultist can figure out EVERY WORD spending 10 minutes of the round writing runes in maintenance, hell I've seen people complete the book withing 5 minutes! Adding a progression bar to cult will fix one thing, murderbone cult will become much MUCH harder since cultists will actually need to gain verbs through in-game interaction. The thing I don't agree with is this This is like throwing a parachute to a drowning man. People that complain about forced conversion are simply whiners, they're not going to go away with the addition of this. I have argued time and time again with these people and the issue can be summed up thusly, "My character would not do that." Except this is exactly what their character would do, joining a cult in itself IS INSANITY. If you read Lovecrafts short stories the protagonist often tells these stories in past-tense, already post insanity the reason for this is, these characters survive those stories, they go insane AFTER the matter but how do their interactions with the cults go? Join or die, same as our own. The cult of Cthulhu? Join or die, Cult of Miigo? Join, die or become a brain in a jar. Cult of Dagon? Join or die. Shadow over Innsmouth? The populance had two options, join or die, outsiders had one, die. But your insanity system? There is a wide difference between a sol marine that witnessed his friend being burned by a flamethrower and a cutie cargo tech from Essex who saw a splinter wound once and fainted. This is why the rune conversion system has a "Resist", if your character is tough he can resist the conversion for much longer or hell DIE because of how strong his will is. What you're giving us is an iron bar, when you reach X points you are automatically cult or insane, unless resisting has some kind of drawbacks you better believe people are going to abuse resist as they do now. And curing insanity after it happens? Again this is either going to be abused to hell which makes it useless or people are going to complain it forces their character to act a certain kind of way. Third issue is the avalanche issue. The reason Vampire, Wizard, Traitor and Ninja are so popular because there is a semblance of quality control, there is one/few antags causing trouble, they have a plan and they go through it. Meanwhile Revs/Loyalists and Cultists face one issue, not enough AOOC communication. At the start a gimmick is agreed on but as the round progresses more people join, and when say for example, Frank McDinkler converts Chef La Newguy the Newguy may not understand the gimmick fully, Newguy converts Baldie Von Baldson and Baldson only knows half of the half that Newguy understood and this goes on and on and in the end you have a massive group of people that have NO idea what the gimmick is and they revert to their natural state and result to their basic instincts, sex murder and trying to summon Nar'sie for any price. Again the progression COULD solve this but the inherit issue is in the lack of communication of playerbase, we have AOOC for gods sake people use it, most of the time people talk at roundstart with it and then never use it again, thus new people have no idea how to use it. Fourth issue, metagame/powergame. We often like to pretend like this doesn't exist, but it does and even if our staff team is probably stronger than ever it's hard to spot these instances as people lack the drive to ahelp powergaming until it directly influences their style of play. Right now the biggest issue of cult is the clear powergame of security, people outright questioning you about "where did you get these cuts????" when you're wearing a jumpsuit with long sleeves, security outright just "knowing" how to counter cult, people arresting cultists with HuT sentences for killing a monkey in maint instead of maybe submitting them to the psychiatrist for help. Cultists being pretty much STALKED by security after only being suspected of doing cult stuff. I have created the Oroboros theory for this. Player tries RP conversion>Gets shut down by convertee/security immediatly>Player decides to murderbone>Everyone else is upset at murderbone and tries to shutdown cult more>Player quits cult after being shutdown by security>New player joins cult and tries to RP conversion et cetera. We have had for multiple weeks the same 3-6 players begin as cult over and over because people refuse to enable cult and maybe try it out. Again maybe the progression bar could fix this, but I doubt it. I am sorry if I sounded a bit hostile in this, none of this is aimed at you and I still FULLY SUPPORT this change because I feel like nothing bad can be done with this, the question I am simply posing is. Is it worth it? To me all we're doing is choosing if we want to wear a glove on the left hand or the right hand and just because something is new doesn't mean it will be better.
23. Recently I've engaged in a binge of documentaries detailing African and South American tribes and their culture and after watching these and thinking them over I realized that they resemble the Unathi thought process, although they are more related to Japan these African and South American tribes also place the same if not even more value on honor, family and religion. I looked through the threads and lore channel and didn't really find anything actually detailing the period of growth of a young Unathi, most question seems to be more concerned about where they come from, which is quite frankly the disgusting and not required part. No my question is, how do young Unathi grow up? Childhood I spoilered these first two questions as they're more biological than cultural, you're free to not answer them if you don't want to. - How much importance is given to this hatching? Are there special rituals? Does it depend on the individual clan? Do they celebrate some kind of birthday? Hatchday? - How quickly do unathi respect this cultural gender difference? We know that Unathi females are given somewhat of a "less important" role in society, but how quickly does it start? Are they seperated clearly from infancy or is it more of a, teenage thing? - Are hatchlings of for example, shamans and leaders given more special attention or are they given the same treatment as children of normal working Unathi? - How different would exactly be the childhood of a Unathi living within a city and living in the outback with their clan. - We know females are given the role of raising children, but what about their fathers? Do they bond with their kids before they become fully grown? - Is the hatred towards Guwan's enforced from this young of an age or not? Teenagehood - Are there specific "coming of age" rituals? Is it specific per clan? Are there any at all? - How important are children actually? Are they just bargaining chips for adults? Does it depend on the specific family or clan? - What's considered "Being a teenager"? Just crashing around the super market smoking cigs? Helping your 'pa hunt? Learning social mannerisms from you mother? Adulthood - When is a unathi regarded as too old to have kids? Is there like a prefered age to raise children? - What about grandparents? How much influence do grandparents have in the household? - Most of the character we know either grew up hunters or warriors, sons of ye olden legends, but what's considered a "normal" unathi? Just an average job in retail? Excuse me for making this so extensive but a lot of whitelist seem to skip over the beginning and run into the "juicier" parts headfirst and when I create my characters I like to actually create a small story for them and how exactly they'd be influenced by their surroundings. Thank you in advance.

Cult Rework?

Don't know what will stop shitlers from shouting CULTS IN MY MAINTS WHIP OUT THE SHLONGBATON besides moderation, which people complain about right now. And the complaint that people are forced to be cult or construct, instead now people have to be cult or insane. Or murdercult just going ham as soon as they get enough stuff. I am an avid defender of current cult and I want to say I DON'T disagree with the change, I'm just pointing out that you're switching crocks for socks&sandals. It's the same thing with a different wrapper.
