  1. I call this "The Great Bait Post", a collection of all the attempts to derail, discredit, demean, lie, or misconstrue information about the complaint. Bolded messages are completely untrue. Italics are misrepresentations. Everything else is just insults or bait. You're incredibly persistent on trying to misrepresent this as me trying to get you in trouble because I don't like you for whatever reason. If this was the case, I wouldn't have politely messaged you beforehand to try to bring this matters to you on a private channel. Please, take the time to read my complaint and see what my actual issue with your playstyle is - the fact that it gives off a strong impression of playing to win, be it in trying to prove you're right in an investigation or trying to take down an antag as an IAA.
  2. Long, ugly post time. First Incident: Second Incident: TL;DR:You're trying to act like I'm an idiot because I have an issue with your playstyle, trying to misrepresent or lie about what happened, and acting like a child when someone tries to talk to you about what you did wrong.
  3. BYOND Key: Ornias Game ID: bSw-arve Player Byond Key: Munks (Luxo Khazarazir, Internal Affairs Agent) Staff involved: N/A. Reason for complaint: This is a complaint against the general playstyle of Luxo Khazarazir as an Internal Affairs Agent. Originally I tried to bring this to the players attention over the Byond pager, but they disagreed with my criticism and blocked me, so I thought it would be best to bring it here. Luxo Khazarazir is an internal affairs agent who, in every interaction I've had, I've had a negative experience. The two notable examples of this are the linked round, where he failed to be impartial during an investigation, and an earlier round, where he attacked an antag in security with an e-sword and a chem-sprayer filled with Plant-B-Gone. During the round with the provided Game ID, Luxo Khazarazir performed an investigation on an officer, Gavin Matthews, in relation to the arrest of someone on code green without a warrant. Matthews had been ordered by the captain to arrest a surgeon, and had witnessed the surgeon performing neglect of duty by being intoxicated on duty. Witnessing an infraction is grounds for an arrest without a warrant, and the officer was compelled to obey the captains orders. Munks told me over pager that the officer had "threatened the person being arrested with additional charges for asking a warrant", but to my understanding this isn't true. These accusations towards the officer, as well as a number of accusatory comments later, led the Head of Security to the idea that the officer was a troublemaker. At a later point in the round, Matthews was involved in a firefight and used lethal weaponry in response to having a lethal weapon pointed at him. Without any kind of information on the situation, Khazarazir was very dismissive and accusatory about Mathews' actions, which I believe was the main contributing factor towards his prohibition from the case, locking him out of a chance to interact with the antagonist, as well as giving him a reputation as being incompetent. When I raised that I believed that Officer Matthews was not guilty of incompetence, he replied with a flat "What.", before saying "Agent, if you truly feel that an officer who illegally trespassed in the medbay and arrested someone without warrant for either, and opened fire during a situation that was under control, then so be it. You can answer for your own decisions" (removed the rolling R's for the sake of ease). This showed not only a complete lack of understanding of the situation, but an open desire to express discontent at the idea of alternatives being considered. Also notable during this round was when laser fire was heard from the brig, he reported it before running straight into the area, despite my objections, which leads onto the second interaction. During an earlier round that I don't have the ID for, Luxo Khazarazir made two decisions which I consider to be very much an attempt to validhunt. I was a diona that had just shown that I was hostile by showing an officer that I was armed. I got her to back off, which she was a rather good sport about interaction-wise, before Luxo Khazarazir ordered her to shoot the fuel tank right next to me. The issue with this is twofold: one, an internal affairs agent has no place in ordering security to do anything, least of all kill someone. Two, his decision was made immediately after I was declared hostile, which was intended to immediately take me out of the round. Later in the round, after having survived that first incident, I was in the brig attempting to set up defenses to recover from being blown up earlier. At this point, Luxo Khazarazir charges in with an e-sword and a chemical sprayer full of plant-be-gone. I start to speak to him, when he shoots me with it several times, and runs off. This, of course, kills me very quickly, with no interaction whatsoever. I ahelped this, and he was spoken to, but it's quite clear from our interactions over the pager that he got away with it and that he doesn't consider what he did to be wrong ("I was asked by staff about it and they understood my side on it and that's all I care about"). Finally, I am not the only person that has taken issue with Luxo Khazarazir's play-style. I'm not going to name names, but both he and I encourage you to post if you have any grievances with how his character has acted. I didn't want to make a character complaint about this, but he blocked me after I raised my issues with him personally, so I'm left with not much other choice. Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? Yes for one incident, and no for the other. On the incident where I did not, it was because I did not deem it a single issue large enough to be ahelped, but rather something that I could speak to him about personally. Approximate Date/Time: 1/20/2018, 4:11 AM UTC.
  4. YES PLEASE TO ALL OF THIS I've wanted this for so long, and while people may say "future medicine, of course it's a quickfix", bare in mind that being shot and being good to go in 30 minutes is a quickfix. That shit takes months IRL. 100%, please, and especially on the surgery. As a sidenote, having a way to rush it (harm intent) in exchange for risks of cool side effects during desperate situations would be cool. Oh, and perhaps having the combat/syndi medikits being able to fix damage faster (say, 5 per minute) to give antags the upper hand and the bravery to get into firefights.
  5. Yeah, after reading this an unquestionable +1. Not everyone's capable of taking criticism half as well as this, and I can see nothing but a genuine desire to contribute here. Good luck with your application.
  6. I can't really cast a vote, primarily from the lack of interaction with you, but I just want to throw in the experience I had with you yesterday. I was having a great roleplaying experience as a visitor with the engineering staff sitting in their lobby on an extended round. We were talking about different kinds of engines, blue-space and hyperspace, the effects of radiation, cost-efficiency, and really things that you don't often get the chance to talk about, and I was really loving having the opportunity to speak about the wider applications of things found on-station. During this conversation, you as Jishi-8 came up behind me wearing a horsemask, in an attempt to spook my character. You also tried to put a santa mask on me, alongside another few other things that really didn't have any motivation behind them, and didn't do anything but interrupt the RP we were having. When I mentioned privately (read: not over the radio) that engineering's 'machine was broken' in a derogatory sense, you showed no remorse or desire to interact in this beyond 'I'm my own machine'. Now this isn't a big thing, but it's the only experience I've had with you and it wasn't a good one. Not to jump to conclusions, but what that interaction told me was: - You weren't interested in building immersion and a cohesive RP environment. You interrupted the interaction we were having for the sake of a cheap laugh. I get having weird or quirky characters, but they need to be done in a way that isn't obstructive and without motivation beyond 'lol, visitor, let's fuck with him'. - You weren't willing to explore the consequences of being a synthetic acting in a peculiar way. Acting in a weird way could have been interesting if you were willing to build off the consequences for it - it would really have meshed well with the interaction if I'd had the chance to interact with you and gather information about your reasons for actions. But instead, on confrontation you defaulted to "I'm my own synthetic" to excuse your actions. I don't necessarily believe this is true of your normal interactions, but I can only run with what I've got. If you're going to act this way as a head of staff, then I can't say that I'm comfortable having you in a head position. That said, if this was a one off/caused by something I don't know about/not going to carry over to your head of staff characters, then I don't see any trouble with you getting the role.
  7. +1. these actions deserve to be remembered for years to come
  8. No. Not at all. This won't mesh at all well with our current RP setup. The two people might hate each other and have to be in love because RNG says so. No small amount of people will mistake it for canon. Always having to stand up for one other will result in stupid 'oh, sure, there's irrefutable proof he's a murderer but I LOVE HIM'. Any antagonistic outcomes as a result of this will be minor or irritating. Any non-antagonistic outcomes will not assist RP whatsoever. This makes no sense RPly. Sneaking a weapon aboard the Aurora for... what purpose? And this will trigger no small amount of ahelps, and people just itching for an excuse to use this firearm they have. If you're not given a reason to use it, then it will just be another reason for antags to take people down quickly, because anyone could be armed. This will only result in chucklefuckery. Nothing interesting RP-wise will come of this. Sneaking in, getting brigged for minor theft, getting let out, getting brigged for minor theft. And anyone who couldn't control themselves wouldn't be hired. I get it's not IC, but even from an OOC perspective if it's a forced gimmick it won't make any sense. The main issue with these is that you can't have a cohesive RP environment if people are going to have minor, low-rp gimmicks. Antagonists exist to create interesting RP, not to be a nusience. Minor antagonists would need to exist in a cohesive RP form, would need to be external to the station, and would need to be variable. Otherwise they'll just detract attention from actual antagonists, creating a low-RP atmosphere, and end up giving players who are learning to improve an excuse to engage in low-RP activities.
  9. Scheveningen gets the problem. Incident Reports exist for people who do questionable/stupid but believable things. Lack of paperwork, violence, threats, disrespect, racism, etc. etc. Stuff that would be very rare in a corporate workplace but feasible that they could occur. And they're for getting people in trouble. I don't want that - like I've said a few times, it was funny as fuck, and I just wanted someone to give a quick poke of "hey, cool it with the memes". The fact that it was just pure tea makes it funniest of all, IMO. I don't mean to make this into a back-and-forth, but while mechanically enough tea will counteract the toxins you need to consider that ICly this is just god-damn tea. You can know it's good for you, but you're not going to just think that it will magically cure a giant spider-bite. Agreed, but this isn't 'stupid', this is literally retarded. That's not ad homenim, but if someone had done that in a real life setting they would be arrested and tried for assault at the very least, then put into some mental asylum somewhere. We could use this for literally any issue short of flat-out bomb grief. Incident Reports exist for IC issues. This was not an IC issue. This was an issue of someone playing in a completely unrealistic and unbelievable way. Oh, and: I completely agree, but this wasn't one of those cases. I'm not salt at Ezuo. I disagree with his ruling, and I don't want to see it become the norm or in any way acceptable in HRP, but if you ignore the outcome of the ruling he did a fine job here. The round was ending, and it can't be delayed for one disagreement.
  10. Yeah. But this wasn't sunburn, this was a spider bite from a deadly spider. Knowing that tea is good for you when you're ill or whatever is fine. But thinking "well, if I know for a fact that this tea is going to counteract this spiderbite entirely because that's how the mechanics work" would only be moderately acceptable if they had the proper schooling, and even then it would need to be done tastefully. But, again, that's not the crux of the matter as far as the actual incident is concerned. The issue is the lack of any cohesive roleplay structure around the action.
  11. I can 100% confirm that there are herbal teas out there that counteract certain toxins in the body, and that someone with sufficient knowledge in the subject would be able to treat someone over a period of time to deal with specific ailments. I'm being pedantic about this because it's something that you need to be pedantic about - there is no 'fix-all herbal tea' that just destroys poisons in the body, and even if there was, just due to the way that these things work, it wouldn't take effect for a day or so at least. Antioxidants can be good for dealing with stuff over long periods of time, but in no conceivable situation whatsoever would any kind of tea be given to someone to deal with an imminent poisoning case. It would be much more directed at people suffering from illnesses or similar ailments. A quartermaster would probably not have gone through the kind of schooling required to identify the components and how they help people. But nonetheless, if they did, then they'd be able to tell you that shoving large quantities of it down someone’s throat isn't going to just fix them. Especially not when they're throwing up, struggling, and crying. Especially. especially not when you're less than two minutes away from a doctor who you could call at a moments notice. I thought this was healing chemicals mixed with tea. The fact that this was just regular tea served out of the vendors only makes it worse. You're literally finding a spider-victim and pouring tea down their throat. ICly, you wouldn't even have any reason to know that tea would make any difference at all. I disagree with this for a number of reasons, which basically boil down to two main issues. 1. Unathi aren't idiots. Just because they're honourbound and come from a different kind of society doesn't mean that they don't have a basic grasp on biological processes. For an unathi to even work here they'd need to learn Galactic Common, which would come with at least a bit of an understanding of other species. The unathi was intelligent to know how to use a medical scanner and identify toxins in the body, which means they have at least a small amount of understanding about how medication and the body work. 2. It fundamentally doesn't matter if the mechanics say "heals small amount of toxins per unit". There are a lot of small mechanical "exploits" if you will that you could use to accomplish things. There are a lot of intended mechanics you can use to overcome threats without roleplay too - disarming that merc gives you a damn good chance of taking him down if he drops his rifle, even if you're just a janitor. You could use the same arguement of "well, their motivation is sound, so the ends justify the means", but motivation is only one fraction of roleplay. Actually taking sane steps to reach that goal is equally, if not more, important. I completely agree. But Nanotrasen doesn't hire mentally deranged characters. That's not an insult against the player of the unathi - it's saying that just because there's some form of motivation behind an action doesn't mean that it's immediately acceptable. No sane individual, unathi, human, tajara, skrell, would decide to start dousing some poor poisoned woman in tea. Characters (and, by extension, their actions) don't need to be nice. They need to be sane. Again, I have no issue with the unathi because it was funny as fuck, and I'm fairly certain it was a meme. I ahelped because I just wanted someone to tell him "just cool it a bit", because I was trying very hard to roleplay my injuries. But I really can't see how this is being perceived as an acceptable HRP action.
  12. BYOND Key: Ornias Staff BYOND Key: Ezuo Game ID: bRy-bigH Reason for complaint: On the round in question, I was playing my Mechatronic Engineer Zoe Le Moullec for the first time. I boarded the arrivals shuttle late into the round, and arrived on-station. Less than a minute of being on-station, I was attacked by a giant spider by the checkpoint. I ran away, after being bitten a few times, and was able to close the door behind me in departures. I called for a help a few times on the department radio through sobs, and was severely hurt by my injuries. Eventually, after a long wait, an unathi (quartermaster?) Bro'gan Darhamuz came up. He stabbed the spider to death with a variety of tools in a pretty cool way. He fixed some of my external injuries with a basic medkit, and shook me up. I, still poisoned, recently attacked, and crying laid back down. He then went and ate the spider, and walked off for a couple of minutes. Then, he came back, and started forcing tea down my throat. I recoiled, and started emoting gagging and spluttering on the tea, and threw up on the ground. He emoted holding my jaw and continued pouring tea down my mouth. Even writing that feels like it could be included in some bad Salvador Dali knockoff. Despite pleading for him to stop amongst strangled sobs, gasps, and vomits, he continued to force-feed me tea. At this point it's like one of those fucked up greentext stories. I proceed to back away from him, and he walks off. To get more tea, I presume. He comes back and continues shoving tea down my throat. Now, in his defense, this was the funniest fucking thing. But, still, it was not heavy RP at all and I was pretty clearly showing that I was interested in playing like a genuine, real person, I ahelped. And I was told by Ezuo it was an IC issue. He told me that the tea had some healing chemicals in it (I presume that chemistry had given him anti-toxin chems for fighting the spiders, I don't know). But that doesn't change the fact that in no concievable real-life situation would anyone pour tea down someones throat as they lie on the ground sobbing, gagging, and vomiting. I tried to explain my issue, but the round ended, and when I ahelped on the next round I was told that the ruling was final and to make a staff complaint if I had an issue. It was funny. Even typing it made me giggle. But the fact that it was honest-for-god being taken for a legitimate heavyRP act really rubs me the wrong way. There is nothing heavyRP about coming up to someone lying on the ground after being violently attacked and, after rudimentary medical attention lasting all of fifteen seconds, and forcing tea down their throat non-stop. There's nothing, and I use the term loosely, 'human' about that. Even for a species like diona I'd have an issue with it, because it doesn't breed any kind of productive roleplay whatsoever. Evidence/logs/etc: I'm sorry, I don't have any logs on me about the incident, they cleared in-between rounds. Additional remarks: No offense to Ezuo, who's a gc. This is just me taking issue with the ruling, not the person.

From like 6:30-10 sometimes maybe more often less it really depends im sorry Experience How long have you played SS13?: about a year and a bit i think How long have you played on Aurora: about a year and a bit i think How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: tons. once, you see, when i was younger, i was able to defeat a vaurca in hand to hand combat, and that requires clicking very intensely. also, i know how to destroy the enemy with but a single bomb, thrown with utter force. telescience confuses me, however. i am very knowledgeable. im pretrty smart also. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: no Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: yes, for three days, for manslaughter. i ahelped in such a comedic and entertaining fashion that incognito jesus, unable to contain himself, choked to death with laughter and died at his keyboard. luckily dark necromancy was able to bring him back, however to this day the thought still lingers in my mind that i could have killed a man. i could have ended his life and nobody would have been able to bring him back, and it would have been my fault, if station administrators were not trained in the dark arts as a requium for their nefarious and nefandous deeds. perhaps i have learned enough from this experience to be forgiven, but if not, i have already planned out a pilgramige of atonement, in several steps. this includes combat against the dark forces, many sexual jokes which i will then apologise for in order to increase the ampount of atoning that needs be done, and defeating the devil in a wrestling match, because as we all know, the devil has spent far too long practicing his fiddle playing skills rather than engaging in any kind of physical activity which will put me at a serious advantage, because you see while i never learned how to play the fiddle i spend my time not playing this game to exercise my left hand in preparation, to train in order to achieve victory so i may prove myself worthy to join these ranks. Personality Why do you play SS13?:this is a question i have often asked myself, and after indulging in deep prayer and intensive philosophy on the matter, including writing to the great philosopher David Beckham and other usch figures of mental fortitude, i have come to a conclusion. i live to convert one of the many, pink haired, beautiful, gorgeous medical staff nurses to my sexual endeavours, and i may die happy knwing my mental and physical superiority over the infferior doctors such as wesley mitchell and other figures of high esteem, such as preston prestoff, whom i know for a fact engages in devil magic Why do you play on Aurora?: I come for the heavy roleplay experience. Baystation comes with the whole military schtick that I can't really abide by, and I've kind of merged with this community, so I don't have so many other options. What do moderators do?: from the looks of things, fuck all. i plan to change this. i have practiced by banning unknowning individuals on my own private server for many decades in order to defeat the opposition. wory not, friends. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: no social life. no friends. Why do you want to be a moderator?: i don't. but some things a man must do, as a rite of passage to become a man. this is one of the three herculean tasks i must pass in order to be accepted back to my tribe, alongside catcalling three women in the street and flipping off the famous actor who portrayed Scott Pilgrim in the classic film Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, that being (of course) Michael Cera. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?:aha How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?:very well, than kyou. ask anyone. they al lthink i'm excellent Anything Else You Want to Add: (Do not put words here) tahnk you for considering me. if you dont accept me, i'm going to shboot myself. thank you
  14. This is pretty upsetting, actually, because I hoped that you'd seen what the issue was from the staff interaction. It's not like I dislike you, I just don't like how you played. I actually see you were trying to roleplay fear and, hey, my bad for assuming that you were acting like a cold war-hardened soldier for the whole thing. Good on you for going out of your way to play fear to other people. My issue was the way that it was done - you made the decision to open fire on me and rush me when I was talking several times. When I was talking on the radio, you'd run in and shoot with the revolver, then leg it. This may make sense from a direct point of view, but it's not interesting to anyone. It's attempting to take down the antag. When I came to you to the obvious trap, I was prepared to be shot. I was thinking that might be a cool conclusion. But we all knew it was a trap, and my attempts at roleplay while I was monologing were shut down by rushing with two hyposprays and dislocating of the legs. I can see now that it wasn't actually an attempt to actively shut down the antagonist in the spiteful way that lots of people do, so I'm sorry for assuming that was the case. I just want to make it clear that your actions shut down the game in an uninteresting way. Being dragged around with dislocated legs, injected as a shadow creature with hyposprays, even if these things can be justified they need to be done in an interesting way. It took this eldritch shadow creature that no-one has ever seen down instantly, and in an uninteresting way, despite the fact that I had not taken anyone out of the game who had not completely deserved it (and I mean that in the sense of mocking a shadow death creature to its face). But hey, seeing that you did go out of your way to roleplay in a scared fashion, and were trying to play in in a believable way, I'm sorry if I was coming across as part of the 'FUCK JOE VICK' squad. I hope you can see where my issue is, and that there's no bad blood going forwards.
  15. Ignoring Azande's slightly mean way of saying his points. 1. Job hopping isn't something that should be encouraged. You're right that some people do it, but from an IC perspective, it's very rare to have a good reason for it. A surgeon may well enjoy cooking, but after spending so long to get a diploma, why would they downgrade to a chef being paid a tiny fraction of what they were previously earning? Jobhopping is allowed, sure, but should by no means be encouraged. 2. Cuntish characters are fine. If anything, they can be some of the most interesting characters because they can provoke limited conflict. But you need to consider the realism in a workplace. People act differently between being at work and in the public. You can't afford to be an asshole at your work, at least not directly. Refusing orders from your boss will get you fired. Insulting your boss will get you fired. If you want to make an asshole character, be more sly or sideways about it. Your character went through years of medical school - they're going to be smart, and they're going to want to keep a job. 3. Wearing sterile gloves and an apron at all times defeats the point of wearing them. The surgical apron is there to keep blood off while operating, the sterile gloves are there to keep infections from the outside world getting into the patient. Wearing gloves in the outside world removes any reason whatsoever for wearing them. Also, do you really wear a cowboy hat while doing surgery? I don't mean to insult you, but of course that's bad. Hair will fall in. Infection will travel in. This isn't just Azande saying 'I DO NOT LIKE KUNTA X, NO CUSTOM ITEMS 4 U'. This is him saying he doesn't believe it would be used for roleplay value. People would be more willing to accept this custom item if they believed that you were interested in using it for roleplay. If there was a single person on this thread that had known of Kunta X's Sol Military past, I'd be more willing to accept a cap or something smaller. But showing that you have little interest in realistic roleplay, and using this to promote something you seemingly rarely if ever promote without it, really does build up to having practically no reason that it would be given to you. The fact you tried to get fatigues solidifies this a bit further, of being style over substance. Again, don't take this as an insulting post, that's really not what I want. You're probably a cool dude. But this item won't be used for roleplay if it's given at current. -1 To finish: I think this perfectly shows the issue. Griefer is an OOC term being applied to an IC person. You're not a griefer. But you seem to have very little seperation between IC and OOC. You look at the mechanics (see: cowboy hats, sterile gloves) and the fact that you can't get fired for anything less than incredibly drastic actions, and it shows in your gameplay.
  16. It's rant time. I just had a really cool round with one of the most annoying endings, which was remedied by staff intervention at the very end. I don't have logs, but allow me to paraphrase what happened this round that frustrates me so much. That's long, but it can be summed up with: Joe Vick decided to take down an antag, and metagamed to all hell to do it. He abused the goodwill I presented, and ruined something actually really damn interesting. Joe Vick needs to get a better understanding of the fact he's playing a crewmember through a game, not a game through a crewmember. You can be an asshole, but you need to be realistic and understand your place in the world.
  17. I'd advise a compromise of allowing the SSD to be pulled but nobody else. I think it is a little stupid that people can be pulled at sprinting speed, but with SSD being basically an OOC mechanic with the tiniest bit of IC psuedo-lore tacked on, I think it could be forgiven. But yeah, for people who aren't SSD, it's just immersion breaking. Especially watching a tajara run into a battleground after a flashbang, and drag out the hostage at super-sprint speed, completely ruining the fact that there's a hostage in an active combat scene. Seeing people drag people with them while running away is stupid.
  18. This is one of those 'it depends' questions IMO. With each person you're going to kill, you need to consider why, and whether the person has taken actions which deserve that kind of punishment. The thing that irritates me about the 'interesting RP' scene is the idea that throwing in a few sentences makes a death valid. If I pull a gun on someone and say 'you idiot, I'm going to kill you!' before shooting them, then that doesn't make the death any more engaging or interesting than me just killing them. If I specifically reveal myself to create more 'interesting RP' before assassinating the captain, then you know that 9 times outta 10 security is going to rush in to save the day. Sometimes you want that, sometimes you don't. Forcing yourself to act unrealistically for the sake of providing a few sentences to the victim is, imo, less engaging than killing sparingly but efficiently. If you go out of your way to kill someone, then you're going out of your way to take them out of the game, and owe them an interesting conclusion. But if you have to kill them to achieve your goal, then you shouldn't feel bad about taking them out to make things more engaging for everyone else. In the same vain, if someone acts like an idiot, then you shouldn't need to hold back to create more RP for them. Someone who refuses to engage with the roleplay you're creating has given up their right to be involved with it - if someone doesn't respect the fact you have a gun pointed at their head, feel free to show them why they should. That's just my opinion, though. Also, Same reason that wizards have 'turn-to-stone', an instant disable spell. Same reason that traitors have the parapen, an instant knockout item. Because they're tools that can be used for an interesting purpose. If they're not used effectively, then they're boring.
  19. Local administrator requires reading glasses.
  20. If this becomes a thing, it should be a toggleable option for the merchant, and the merchant should be in charge of the details of the merchant-bodyguard relationship. Some traders wouldn't make sense to have a bodyguard, and some bodyguards might want to play a character that doesn't match with the merchants backstory. Alternatively, having auto-spawning ERT-esque guards spawn in the merchant station when it's boarded by non-trader characters would be a pretty interesting solution imo. Or just making it so it won't depart when there's a non-trader aboard.
  21. the king is dead long live the king
  22. But then you can't go all super fancy schmancy tech guy and take out the chip, look at it and hand it to a forensic tech or something A better idea is to have a large screen on it, unless you want it to be secret. You could also put the list on the chip... Having it append to a list, and then, with each input pushed, set the list to a data chip, would be a good idea. A small screen would be the best idea for keeping it inconspicuous.

Pins: The things which allow components to connect together to make a machine. The I/O pins contain data (which can be input using the circuit debugger). These are connected by wires using the wiring tool. There are three types of pins: Input: What a component uses to run it's calculations. Output: What a component produces after running it's calculations on an input. Activators: While the other two are for data, this pin is only capable of telling other components when to do their jobs. A component will (as a rule of thumb) operate when it's component is pulsed, and will then pulse along it's component when it's finished it's job. [*]Wires: Wires are what connect the pins in a machine. Using the wiring tool, click on one pin, and then another on a seperate component. If you want to unwire a component, or cancel a wire, use the tool in your hand to switch to 'unwire' mode. [*]Data Types: Data exists in the following forms: String: Regular text. Does not work if attempting to use in a number calculation. Num: Numbers. Used in calculations. Boolean: Numbers which decide if something is true via TRUE/FALSE. 0 is false, 1 is true. Ref: A reference to an object. Can be obtained by using your circuit debugger and selecting 'Ref', and clicking on the object you want to reference. Dir: A direction. Used by locomotives usually, but there are other uses. Can also be represented by numbers. 0 is north, 1 is south, 4 is left, 8 is right. Color: Colors for lighting components. List: A list of values which can be manipulated by certain components to create a variety of outputs. Good for storing large amounts of data at once. Using the second component as an example, you can see: The component is activated when the button is pressed. The machine uses it's INPUT ([0x3000021] [Ref]) to calculate what dir [0x3000021] (a bluespace technician) is. It then displays that info as a Dir value in the output (right side). It moves the output to the direction feature of the locomotion circuit. It powers the locomotion circuit to take a step in a direction. Represented visually, this is: From here, it's a matter of experimentation, although I have a few tips. Strings are case-sensitive. If you want to look for a word in a string, consider using a lowercase string converter to make your input lower-case. Use logic gates commonly. A machines capacity to interact with the outside world is limited, but with a bit of ingenuity a lot is possible. Screens can be used to display messages in a vacuum. Video camera circuits link up directly to the science department camera system. Implants are absolutely minute, and don't need to be implanted to be useful. Smoke bombs, anyone? The 'device' assembly can be attached to anywhere a signaller can be attached (thanks Lohikar).
  24. The new electronics mechanics are massive and complicated, so having a job for them where they're not filling up other job slots is a good idea. Just keep it separate from IT.
  25. no. you've heard what issues people have with your playstyle, and you can fix them accordingly. and you haven't even been denied, they're doing that tomorrow
