I would main this. Jokes aside, this seems like a great idea. Again, not sure how complex it would be, but also being able to edit the form on a laptop would make paperwork far easier. The number of times I've had to start from scratch after I messed up on the second last line...

Give the CMO's Scanner (Zheng-Hu thingy) A Visual Tell

Was wondering if there was still interest in this. I'd be interested in seeing this and willing to code it too, but I'm aware this is now over two months old and things may have changed.

I don't get what the aversion to appealing to the "lowest common denominator" is. As it stands, we often suffer from players not checking their antag preferences, and as one of those I'll say that a major (but admittedly not the only) reason for this is the sheer number of systems the game has. I mostly play two roles, only one of which has any use as an antagonist, and I'm hardly an expert at either of them. And on top of those, I suddenly might need to know how anything from wiring to combat to cargo works. This is somewhat bearable as a traitor as you can chalk it up to character knowledge (though I think you ARE allowed to stretch what your character knows for traitors, I may be wrong there) but some of the other roles feel like you're supposed to know so much its kind of overwhelming. Adding small, but effective ways to circumvent player knowledge being less than you'd expect of their character would remove one of the major barriers, for me at least, to playing antagonists. In regard to this, what's being suggested isn't to make it easier for people to play crew as a new player, but to provide alternatives for antagonists. You could (hypothetically) have played for years and have never learned brainmed.

I think the issue with antags and their medicine stems from two things mainly, which have previously been highlighted here: The first is OOC skill. It's one thing to say that antags should designate a doctor, but what if none of them have ever played medical? You could end up with a "doctor" who's never even touched a health analyser before. The second is accessibility. And I don't mean they don't have enough supplies. In some cases that may be true, but as has been mentioned, mercs have a pretty well stocked medbay on their ship now. The issue is where that is. On their ship. Generally I see two situations with group antags: They set up in their ship with a hostage or whatever, or they guerilla warfare against the station, untill they all die of arterials and whatnot. Heck, I remember playing a round where we tried the latter, and after dying, I watched the lone survivor spend an hour and a half trying to find the ship again. He wasn't even bleeding out. In short, the issue isn't that antags don't have the means, it's that they don't have the opportunity, either through lack of OOC knowledge, or medicines being awkward and difficult to get to in the event of them being necessary. The idea of a portable autodoc seems the most reasonable to me. Having it potentially even determine what needs to be treated would mean anyone could use it, and given that it would (presumably) knock the user out, that seems to me like a draw back enough not to use it on combat. The idea of a fix-a-bone injector or something feels less useful as you could both use it in combat, and given a lack of OOC knowledge, not know what you needed to use.

Nitrile Gloves Becoming Universal / More Xeno Gloves
Sparky_hotdog replied to WickedCybs's topic in Archive
It feels like given how diverse the Spur is, it would make sense ICly for the nitrile boxes to have three "compartments" (buttons) with different gloves. Realistically the 60 gloves found at the minute are never all used, so splitting it 20:20:20 or even 30:15:15 would fix the availability issue without making them universal. -
I honestly can't say this is a good idea. VueUI is great where there's interaction, but for something that is literally reading, the extra window would just get in the way imho. On top of that, the current system forcing a rescan isn't a bad thing. Often more than one doctor has been treating someone, or chemicals are in their system, so updating your information is vital.

Grant Xenobiology More Tools to RP With Vampires/Changelings
Sparky_hotdog replied to Camellia's topic in Archive
I'd like to see this. Having a situation where security has identified "Well... it doesn't die when it dies." but not just repeating the same shoot, die, resurrect cycle is something which ling kind of needs. Would also give xeno-bio something different to do too. -
Resprite roller beds to be chunkier and more vibrantly colored
Sparky_hotdog replied to Sheeplets's topic in Archive
This would be nice. Rollers feel a bit bland at the minute, and it would be nice to have more interest sprites. +1. -
Maybe this would defeat the point, but I'd suggest something which teleports the ninja's body back to their start location on their death. Asset denial, but not a big F you to someone unlucky enough to be nearby. Would also make some sense to me, as the hardsuits are super advanced, so why would you choose to destroy them if recovery was an option?

As someone who played Act 0, then the final Act, with life getting in the way in-between, there was something quite refreshing about the arc. The news articles felt like they were brought to a whole new level, as there were several plot threads being mixed together. I know that this is likely due to it being such a large event arc, and that with the normal arcs it's a bit much to ask, but looking at the news as it rolled in felt organic, and it was something I could be interested in, despite being unable to play any rounds. The mini-event style of both the prologue/buildup and the invasion week we're one of my favourite parts. For once it felt like Aurora wasn't the centre of the Spur, but rather a small part of the events. Things were happening, the station was tense, but it wasn't the epicenter of the drama like tends to happen with these events. I do feel, and this may be entirely my fault for not reading properly, that the invasion week being the finale wasn't publicised enough. I found myself contemplating whether to play rounds, especially low-pop ones, and would probably have jumped in more if I knew this was it. The invasion could have been longer in my eyes too, mostly out of preference, and, while I do get why the finale proper was ditched, a better climax on the end of this would have been nice. Woke up this morning and was kinda surprised to see "Invasion Over" on the discord. Overall, I like the different direction KotW took. It took me from being skeptical as to how an arc could be this long as stay interesting, to now wishing that every arc could be.

This might just be me, but from an IC perspective, disguising them shouldn't be needed. People wear aviators and iPatches all the time (sure patches are less common, but it's not exactly a suspicious item), and the colour/name/description is mostly there as an OOC guide. ICly your librarian has no reason to know that orange tinted glasses are thermals, so they really shouldn't need to be disguised any more than that.

So essentially, I'm looking at changing my Ckey (and other account names across the board in fairness), but due to BYOND being, well, BYOND, the only way to do this seems to be to create an entirely new account. My question therefor goes: If I were to make a new account, would there be any issues with me just copying my characters over? I do have whitelists, so I could see that being an issue, but I am also uncertain as to the server policy (If there is one) on this sort of thing. Thanks.

Personally I'm not sure how I feel about them. On the one hand, I play Aurora over other servers because of the RP (obviously). And from that perspective, its just an annoyance that doesn't really add much to my experience. On the other hand, I can see why from a combat RP perspective, particularly those going for a stealthy antag gimmick, I can entirely see why people abusing the 360 view is an issue, and one that can't really be enforced any other way. I think perhaps I'd be onboard more if the cone froze what was in your view the last time you saw it, and thus you don't have the very strange moments when you see a console change screen 5 meters behind you. But to be honest I'm not sure that would fix it. This may suffer from a similar thing to other failed SS13 endeavours: trying to be too realistic. I know it might not be that helpful, but that's my thoughts.

Means that the integrated eye sensor augment shows medical/security records and status on examining, just like the actual HUDs do. Don't think it's a massive balance issue, but then I have no experience balancing, so who am I to say.

Fuse Medical Roles and Detach Medical from the Real Job of Medical Doctor
Sparky_hotdog replied to Coalf's topic in Archive
I think this is needed, though I don't think that's really up for debate. As Bear said, striving for realism in titles in a game where medicine is so advanced almost removes realism. It doesn't feel right to have such complicated titles for spess jobs. Simpler job titles would also make medical less intimidating to newcomers, as it would allow them to easily see the roles they can choose to specialise into. Personally, I prefer Medical Officer over Technician as a sci-fi name, both due to the less repetitive name, and the link to the CMO's title as well. As for the merging of the learner roles, thank goodness. Though I do hope the expectation of the role will be closer to the resident now, with the character having actually completed medical school. Mostly because if someone even starts their "internship" halfway though their medical degree, they're likely spending 3 years in the role before they become a doctor proper, which is a long time. -

August 22, 2462 Posted by: BL LTRINITY I'm Lilly. I'll look out for you on the net. If its orbital transport you need, I'm living on a small ship currently docked on Biesel. Don't have the equipment to take photos though. Let mig know if that's any help. ((General idea seems good, and in terms of when I'm on, it usually around 7-10 BST (Currently, that goes back to GMT in a month or so), so from what I can gather, we might never actually have a shift with us both on)) -
[Accepted]Flpfs Dionae Application

Have played with Nusei (Not listed, but am talking to them right now in LOOC) a few times, and a little with Sani, and love the role play and conversations with those characters. +1 from me. -

2 dismissals We need to talk about the game mode Revolution
Sparky_hotdog replied to Hepatica's topic in Archive
Rev rounds (sometimes) create some of the best roleplay, with each side trying to recruit members through actual RP rather than a magic circle. I do see your point however, which is why I think a more "Mutiny" style NBT mode would make more sense.
