Give The TCFL Pistol to Biesel Consular Officers
KingOfThePing replied to icedcabbage's topic in Archive
Having a seperate tab for a single job isn't really feasible. Probably better to have faction themed clothing wardrobes/lockers in the spawning area instead, for anyone who doesnt want to look through the loadout tabs to hunt down their specific outfit. -
Give The TCFL Pistol to Biesel Consular Officers

Why not. Consulars should have availability to all faction gear, imo. -
[BINNED] Incident Report - 14/10/2464 - R.Edevane, S.Goldberg

I think this sums it up very well, but I have one addition - there have been very good stationbounds in the past, most of the time by people actually putting in the effort and viewing them from a character perspective, however limited that may be. I will never forget ORB or Arlo (an AI that is still played, I believe, from time to time). They were an excellent stationbound and are an excellent AI with a character, well within allowed limits, yet incredibly well played. You can argue that this may be "one of many" who actually puts in the effort, but if arguments like "I saw this once and it irked me" are considered, then this one as a counter-argument should be as well.
-
I am not sure if a role like this is actually needed or would fit well but I kind of like it for no specific reason.
-
If you play a Viax properly then literally everything you do is your job and nothing else except ordered. Stop bringing this argument because it is wrong. Viax are an arguably even worse (for anyone who finds it bad) contender for this "problem", because they have the lore to back it up, unlike borgs. Not everyone has to be an epic main character. If you argue that borgs play like NPCs, which I also find wrong, then that is nothing bad. Let people play how the want within the rules, or something like that. This is like saying why people play mining, because miners are NPCs since they go out, off the ship and hit rocks instead of interacting with you. Some people enjoy that, like some people enjoy playing borgs. There is nothing wrong with either.

The names guidelines to the rules are Firstname Lastname, with, some cultural limitations for some regions, that's it. I will obviously not drop any examples here but you know exactly what I mean when I say that it's no problem to adhere to these limitations while having an extraordinarily stupid or illogical name. It's not hard. It's a very objective thing, I am sure but it should not matter. Besides, this is only hardly the topic here. Maybe introduce a few naming blueprints borgs have to use to create their designation (not names, since they are equipment) to avoid this.
-
I forgot the rest of my reply: I agree with Carver. The argument of non characters is null, as long as Viax exist. If they can do too much then limit them mechanically, like removing their all access as soon as they chose a module and specialize the modules more. Giving them more back story is also good, stationbounds are in a limbo because no one really knows what they are since it's not explained. Stop locking even more stuff behind whitelists, it's not helping the case in any way.
-
This was a decision by the player, since naturally the player has the last word here. There is a plethora of characters out there that have beyond stupid names, it doesn't matter there and it doesn't here. It's a player decision.

Interaction with Mech Weaponry/Tools for large/strong races
KingOfThePing replied to evandorf's topic in Archive
There are already two examples existing for this, Unathi and G2 can use and handle the super heavy KA frame without penalties and also use the Super Heavy Pistol without having to wield it and thus not break their hands. It's not hard to implement but there is not really enough tools to exist to warrant this, I guess. -

It is only my personal opinion that I feel like it shouldn't be while major arcs are on-going. It takes away from the arc that is going on. It does not really matter if they are directly related to the arc or not. It is only a minor thing to critique. I dont know the timetable on when things are done or when they should be released. I just found it a bit distracting.
-
A lot of feedback has already been said. I especially agree with Bewejeldpot. To summarize my thoughts: The arc went nowehere, really: It felt it served as a catalyst to write some news articles, which, lets be real, the majority does not read and ultimately dont really matter in-game in 90% of the cases. The arc was not engaging: No one except Command had any engagement in this. Why would they. The crew was technically not really needed. The outcomes would have been similar if you would have put command with [the opposing party] into a room and let them play by themselves for 2 hours. The only exception to this was the large scale mutiny in the last event but this is another can of worms I'd rather not open here. The new setting's possibilities have not been used: The biggest change from the Aurora is, that we can actually go places. We didnt do this. Why not see some elyran outpost/village and an embassy. Why not actually go somewhere, instead of letting people come to the Horizon. Wasn't the premise to find new phoron sites and that some signals have been picked up? Why not let crew gather together, go there and have the conflict, if there needs to be one, there, instead of on the Horizon. New planet introductions: I am honest here, I didnt follow enough to know if this was warranted due to the arc (I doubt it but correct me if I am wrong) but personally I wouldnt cram the revelation/addition of new planets (in this case, San Collete and Port Antilla) during big canon arcs. Feels wrong. Abrupt conflict: The conflict felt kinda sudden. This may be due to how the game is structured but I wouldnt have thought the FSF would turn on the crew. Why would they. They have been paid TWICE and attacking the SCC's prime flagship would surely get you killed faster than you can imagine. My closing thought is that this was, by far, the most unengaging arc I have experienced so far, mostly due to the facts that the possibilities of the new setting have not been utilized at all. All in all it just felt hollow and rushed. I personally am also not a fan of the bi-weekly event format, which may also be a reason why it felt rushed. Take your time next time and dont feel urged to hold any deadlines. Since there are none.

This is not dead. I just have no time to do large scale coding currently. Turkey added to the list.

I was sternly against the last application but I have to agree with kermit, that in the past months things have gotten better. I interacted with the Unathi of him the most recently and they are pretty good and interesting to talk to. Due to the nature of jobs I play I dont really interact with off-ship ghost roles that much but I dont think they "count" in my opnion anyway. His characters are better, and even the "joke" ones like the elevator attendant are not played like memes. It's actually a quite creative way to play assistant(?) + viax. Even if it doesnt show any command qualities per se. All in all I am neutral on this application but I already saw his OM plays are pretty good and I actually think Consular will be the perfect thing for him.

Can I be whitelisted as Tajara
KingOfThePing replied to Cheetos26's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
You have to use the format: https://forums.aurorastation.org/topic/11652-alien-whitelist-format/#comment-111580 -
After thinking about this for a few days, I came to the conclusion that I am not supporting this idea, for the reasons the opposed party has already brought up. I dont think there should be a super doctor role, despite the "problems" this can bring during lowpop. HRP also means that you sometimes have to improvise with the bad hand you were dealt.

I regrettably support this application

The current system does work. For people who think about it like you do. Some don't, so it is confusing. That's the entire point of the thread. That is why people want names instead of numbers - because numbers will always be confusing to *someone*. Apparently.
-
This is the actual feedback thread for the github PR.

This is something entirely oocly and shouldn't be considered. I think the consensus is that the residential deck is below the hangar deck. It shouldnt matter tho as this deck is not represented (and shouldn't be) since it's purely an ooc thing. Cryo on the Aurora also made little sense, especially during crisis times, yet it was handwaved - as it should have been. The same thing should be applied to the residential deck.

Okay maybe not operational. I was bored out of mind wheni wrote this. Hangar Deck Main Deck Admin Deck How about that?
