+1? I don't see why this shouldn't be. Could be a bit amusing to see a Miner covered in duct tape crawl through the airlock with shattered shins.
-
This has been in the air for a long time. Not that I have any authority regarding applications, but I was curious, do you still want this item for your character?
-
Sukhoi constantly and consistently tries to expand on roleplay and develop the scientific field (ICly speaking, of course, given the lack of mechanics for a proper development of science), and this is such a small item to make any issues over. +1, I fully support the character having a personal notebook.
-
Oh, come on now, this is adorable. The item doesn't need to be sprited, and it's such a small personal item. I'll support it on those grounds. +1.

[Accepted]sdtwbaj Vaurca application
Brutishcrab51 replied to sdtwbaj's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I saw who was applying, and figured I'd toss the good 'ole +1 immediately. I like Rhoda Marks as a character, I've seen Dreidos, and I've seen Halloway. You can definitely handle a Vaurca character. To reiterate, +1. -
JMJ99 Head Of Staff Whitelist application
Brutishcrab51 replied to JMJ_99's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I think they've gone a long way from how that character was originally. They have, in my personal experience. After a player complaint on Ashley Jaeger, JMJ shaped up pretty well, that's why I'm comfortable with supporting this application. I'd suggest anyone with issues to contact JMJ over Discord and talk to them about it directly. -
I like this idea a lot. It keeps everyone from busting the cameras when the AI gets reported, or helps traitors avoid detection when they want to do some stuff that could get them valid'd by that Warden who will always, always look at just the right camera. +1.

JMJ99 Head Of Staff Whitelist application
Brutishcrab51 replied to JMJ_99's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Now, I'll be honest. I love JMJ99's characters, and I'm a fan of the majority of them. I don't know JMJ very well, though, but I certainly like how (s)he(?) handles his/her characters. I figure (s)he could handle a Head whitelist. If (s)he can't, I'm sure the staff will make that known. +1. -
I actually like the idea of this suggestion if it could be properly implemented. It'd keep an eye on personnel who are messing around without clocking out, and give justification and basis to those that do, while clocked out. This might actually help with players running around doing their own things.

[Resolved] Warning Appeal
Brutishcrab51 replied to Brutishcrab51's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
Unfortunately, not for long. Our conversation on Discord was rather short. Regardless, I think I'll ask for this to be archived, I can see why a warning might be valid - much as I still disagree with it from a personal standpoint. -
[Resolved] Warning Appeal
Brutishcrab51 replied to Brutishcrab51's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
Looks about right. I imagine DocOct is probably asleep right now, I'll await his input tomorrow. I'd prefer just having a dialogue on this, to be fair. If him and I could speak on Discord, that'd work as well. -
BYOND Key: Brutishcrab51. Staff BYOND Key: TheDocOct. Game ID: I don't have the Game ID for the exact round, but I do for the one after. bRx-aXNv. Reason for complaint: Now, to start off, I have nothing against TheDocOct. The round in question for this appeal was a Cult round. I joined on at round-start as my character, Kalren Halstere, for his final lap around before he left Tau Ceti. He had breakfast with the Head of Personnel, a social call with the Head of Security, made some orders with the kitchen, overall, it was pretty pleasant. Two Security Officers (Cherish, Viridian) call for people to join their 'Cool Kids Club'. Halstere offers to walk with Shoshanna, the HoP, who takes a look, and after, they're guided up to the IA office to see the 'Clubhouse'. Now, here's where things get a bit unusual. They tell Halstere that, as he's a member of the 'Sol Fleet Club', he can't see the club. They start talking about how they want to take people in one at a time, to see the clubhouse and get initiated. Shoshanna drags Halstere aside and hands him her ID, and asks him to follow her after they walk her in. So, he does. He finds the room they're in, opens a maintenance door in the dark, sneaks in behind them, and watches from across a table as they go through dances, an oath, and then finally, the rune. Shoshanna steps on, screams, runs off. Halstere steps out of the shadows, and confronts Cherish on what he could only guess to be some sort of group hazing. Nothing amazingly malicious, he thought he must've missed some sort of action. After, he walks out, and informs the HoS of what happened, returns the ID to the HoP, and learns that Viridian/Cherish are both 'rogue' from the HoS. After all that, the HoP issued him basic access to departments while Cherish was being EMP'd to death, having gone for full Cult armor and sword, and tried to kill him. He asked that Viridian be spared of charges, and then returned to the scene of the crime, the 'clubhouse', to investigate it for anything he missed. While there, a man wandered up, asked him to let him in, and then attacked him with a sword. Halstere, armed with a taser and .45, ran away and called for help. Because, you know, he got cut across the skull with a sword. After all that, and after being treated, he was given ammunition for his .45 by the HoS and had to assist said HoS and an Officer in subduing a man in the Brig who broke the door with a sword, and who was in full armor. Halstere obliged, aimed for the legs, and helped take the man down. After, he left the Brig to check on the HoP at Cargo, spoke with her and a Cargo Technician for a time, and returned to the hallway after reports of a second armed man. He saw no Security personnel, asked about it, then saw a bloodied HoS running for Engineering, and followed. What came after was what I can only describe as an orgy of violence, as the HoS and an Officer kicked in the doors of the Engineering Foyer armed with shotguns loaded with slugs, and went to town on the Cultist. Halstere came in with his pistol, aimed, took four shots (Though, only due to the snap-shots of aiming with the command. I adjusted that after the fact, but it was far too late), and after the cultist went down, he attempted to pin the man down for proper detainment. Whereas, a Officer proceeded to blast the man at point blank with a shotgun while he was in paincrit, killing him instantly. After the fact, I was bwoinked by TheDocOct. Long story short as I haven't saved the logs, I was promptly informed that I had needlessly put my character's life in danger against an element that could kill me nearly instantly, and had no place being in Engineering. A lot of our discussion rested on the fact that Halstere was a Visitor, on how he got a pistol, on his experience with the Cult (It's worth noting that Halstere as informed by the AI that members of the Cult were targeting him in specific, and he'd been attacked twice), and how he should've been more hesitant to get into a situation with an armed man. I can't necessarily disagree with this sentiment, at least, not entirely. But this is what I will say. Why would a trained Military Police Commissioned Officer, who was previously an HoS main, with a loaded handgun (loaded with lethals, mind you) be afraid of what he could only see to be a loony with a sword? Cautious, yes, sure. Weary? Of course, would it have been wise for Halstere to avoid the situation entirely? Maybe, but it was made personal to some extent when he was informed they were targeting him in specific. He had a vested reason to see to their downfall and demise, but he never killed any of them. Halstere was fearful when appropriate (Ergo, fleeing when a Cultist with a sword assaulted him in Maintenance. Even armed with a taser and loaded handgun, and stun baton, he absolutely was not going to try to fight), but in this situation, the odds were too much in his favor. If he knew about the Cult and what its power was? He'd certainly be more careful. But, I play a character, and death for him because of his actions is certainly an acceptable outcome from RP. Personally, I think the warning was unwarranted, and I can't quite exactly word anyways, I'm not sure if you can check warnings. Evidence/logs/etc: Unfortunately, I took no screenshots, and didn't save any logs. I'm sure they could be dragged up, but, the long-short summary is above. Additional remarks: I'd like to have a dialogue with TheDocOct about this warning. Especially given how heated I was at the time, seeing the warning as utterly unfounded, this'd probaby be the easiest way to go about it. Regardless of the outcome, the prior round was the last one for Halstere for quite a while, until the IC situation by Jackboot and Zundy is continued regarding Mars. Also, I was extremely amused watching an Unathi shatter both a Claymore and then a Fire Axe on the dead Cultist's head trying to cut it off while having the Bwoink chat with DocOct. It was great.

I remember this round, actually. All of Security got killed off in the Bridge, along with the Captain; Pyre and Halstere were at the Bar with the Raiders who were playing as a musical gimmick. I think they both survived that round, after the ERT arrived and fought off the Mercenaries. I find it a bit regrettable that Pyre and Halstere don't interact more, I blame my activity ever since he went off to Mars, given I don't play him as a character anymore.

[Accepted]Conspiir's Head of Staff Application
Brutishcrab51 replied to Conspiir's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I'll say this much, I've only ever seen (within memory) Witcher II as a character, and I'm not sure how decent that character in specific does to present you as someone who can handle the command roles on the server. However, that's due to Witcher II not being based on a commanding individual. You've show dynamic and versatile experience in roles, and can clearly handle the work of a command position (though, I say this with a grain of salt), unless anyone brings up any concerns, I'll throw a +1 in. -
[Accepted]Allybearsley Skrell App
Brutishcrab51 replied to AllyBearsley's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I personally don't see any issue with Allybearsley having a Skrell character. He can handle the position well, has versed himself in the lore, and plays a number of respectable characters (Martonis, in regards to my interactions) to prove he has the ability to take the whitelist seriously. This is an easy +1. -
I suppose I'm not one to talk about Sol uniforms, but, I'll throw my two cents in. Combat fatigues are a no-no. The absolute most you could get away with is a dress uniform of some sort, and wearing that in even a semi-common manner would be in the event you were a Visitor class (No military allows their uniform to be used to support a corporate/private party, such as by working for one while in uniform) and if you got authorized by the Ministry of War to wear the uniform on the Aurora as a specific 'exceptional circumstance' (Unlikely if you weren't some kind of senior NCO or CO, and served at least 2 tours (Eight years). Combat fatigues, are never acceptable for wear outside of combat. You'd have to be active duty, and deployed to a warzone or duty post. Otherwise, you'd wear a service uniform. Retired or non-active, and you wouldn't even own anything besides a dress uniform. Not even to mention the contention surrounding Solarian troops in Biesel. They're hated. Halstere's uniform was controversial enough, with all the restrictions kept in mind, and he's only wearing a dress uniform. You might want to adjust your application accordingly if you want any hope of it passing, because it's more than just the nod of the staff at that point, it's whether or not the item is realistic to have. I won't lean either way in terms of support, though, yet.

[Accepted]DrHobo2k15's Head Whitelist Application
Brutishcrab51 replied to DrHobo's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I can't say I've seen your characters around. Unfortunately, I'm sure it's because we may not play at the same time. Regardless, you seem serious enough, and I like how you included a bit of humor in your application. Neutral, leaning towards a +1. -
[Denied]Smiley's Tajaran Application
Brutishcrab51 replied to TheSmiley's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I've grown to know several of Smiley's characters very well. Notably, Freya Chunley, and I talk to her often on Discord as well. She has a serious mindset when it comes to characters, an in-depth relationship with most characters she interacts with - mine, Halstere, for example -- and can certainly handle a Tajaran character. Applications tend to be based on whether or not you have the mindset to play a Xeno-character, and if you know the lore. Smiley does well on both regards. That's why I'll shamelessly plug in a +1 for her. -
[Accepted]Vrow - Skrell Application.
Brutishcrab51 replied to VisVirific's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Aside from the reasoning above, I have little to say. I like the character of Lawrence Power, which is what I'm most experienced with for VisVirific, and I like the player himself. The backstory is only slightly lacking, but that's more from a story-writing standpoint than anything else. +1. -
[Accepted] Urthrem - IPC Application
Brutishcrab51 replied to Urthrem's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I've seen O-O-S a few times around on the server, and from my experience (Albeit a somewhat short one), I feel the player, Urthrem, can provide a more than capable personal for an IPC character. In my opinion, there is no reason to not support this application. +1. -
I'll throw my two cents in here. Now, the situation in question had dropped to Code Green by the time Halstere had wandered up to the Merchant's ship with a Shotgun (Which was later returned to Security by Halstere), where the last Raider, Ae-Something had been seen. A Tajaran in an Engineering suit. She turned herself into Security not long after, and it essentially became Extended. Now. Halstere, a Martian (A planet known for its crime, gambling, and aggressive nature) with anti-ATLAS sympathies (Eliade is an ATLAS member, and ATLAS-supported elements have been messing with Mars, including shooting Martian leaders and storming Martian government buildings), an avid understanding of protocol, who had essentially been conscripted - in this case, literally had an Energy Carbine shoved into his hand -- attempted to hand off equipment to Security at their lobby after the incident. They didn't respond to the buzzer, so I left and informed Security to pick up the equipment. I then spoke to the Merchant - without any of the equipment on-hand, and we actually came to a would-be deal in regards to the Energy Carbine. So, under the belief it wouldn't be missed - and, it wasn't, Halstere got off scott-clean -- he made a private deal with the Merchant, walked back to retrieve it, returned, and then sold it. It's worth noting that Halstere had been assaulted by Security in that same round. Flashed, threatened with a taser, and pain-crit'd to such an extent by tear gas that he had to be transferred to Medical by an Officer who, simply didn't like him. Similarly, when he was 'conscripted', he constantly faced abrasive behavior from the Security Robots and quickly became frustrated. Particularly when said Security Robots locked him inside a depressurized maintenance tunnel. It'd make sense that he, with all these other varied reasons, wouldn't exactly be put-off by selling off a weapon during such a round, particularly after the danger had passed? Heck. He even got a permit for the sword the Merchant offered him during the deal, from the Captain. He was searched twice by Security, and let off without issue. It may be unbecoming of an HoS character (Off-duty as it were) if there were no exceptional circumstances to the situation, except, there were, and it's important to remember that a Head of Security is still a human, capable of mistakes and acts of anger or frustration, as was such in this case.

I would like to RSVP for this party, per' in-person invitation.

Bump. I'd like to know what people think of HoS-Halstere.
