  1. my favourite IC drama is that one time i let a vaurca fight a kataphract on station as the captain during a canon event, the vaurca ate shit, then proceeded to get injected with dex+ and die instantly, after which Security tried to arrest me for breaking a nebulous "Biesel Law", which upon questioning them about where the fuck it is on the wiki they said they would report me to the FIB instead

  2. I asked someone for the logs later down and I realized that the second point I made was wrong and I rushed it out without properly looking at what I was actually saying that day. I'll openly admit that I fucked up there. I'll edit my original post.
  3. I disagree. My intentions were clearly not to make fun of him, as you can even see later down the line that Hepatica backs down on what she was saying because of what I said. Because this way I cannot be accused of digging up an obscure reddit account. Not sure what you're trying to say here.
  4. This post originally noted how I wasn't making fun of Luke, but upon further review of my own posts I can't really conclude otherwise. I apologise and expect punishment for it. However, I will still keep the part of the post here that comments on how I wasn't the one that was involved in finding or posting the information at first. Here is where he was "outed", and I will censor his reddit username, because I did not even look at his reddit user page, I just took what Paradox said at face value. I will, however, note that Luke regularly posts on the SS13 subreddit with an username that is very clearly identifiable to him, so there wasn't any actual doxxing or similar - he simply posted a screenshot of himself playing Aurora on that subreddit.
  5. Cryo, and leaving the round in general, is an OOC mechanic. It's not supposed to function as an in-universe method of getting off of work. Similarly, I can't support the addition of anything that works like that because it would generate an absurd amount of plot holes in rounds, more than even cryo (e.g "why do we have to use the emergency shuttle when we can just use the departure shuttles" or "why do I have to care about what the revs are doing i can just leave lol"). Voting for dismissal.
  6. I can't really say I have seen you play and the feedback thus far is insufficient. Have you been advertising your app at all?
  7. Tossing this into the archive as it is resolved.
  8. To be entirely fair, it happened just yesterday.
  9. Jobs that require immediate communication for things like patient care or diagnosis cannot be expected to use pen and paper in those situations for... obvious reasons -- it's too slow of a method, too clunky, does not work in emergencies. PDAs are a similiar thing - they require telecomms to work, which is again, not a guarantee. Sign language is similiarly not the lingua franca of the station and people other than the mute character cannot be expected to know it. This is completely false, see: the presence of a nuke on station, an entire armory for security to use, engineering's emergency resources, every canon event in the last 4 years.
  10. This would be a problem because they'd be unable to use the equipment that is assigned to them for their usage (the voidsuit). Additionally, certain Captain responsibilities such as the nuke require going up a ladder.
  11. If a job requires you to speak then it requires you to be able to speak at every minute - this is not a guarantee that you can have if you rely on TTS devices, so they will not be considered here.
  12. A lot of what you're saying misses the fact that most of these jobs have special equipment that people with one hand simply couldn't use as well. Things like armor and disruptors, for example would be much harder to use for heads of personnel, consulars and detectives. For security specifically, being impaired is a fairly bad thing for the department as a whole. We also have to account for emergencies here. If I had my way, to be fair, neither of them would be movement impaired at all, they'd be unimpaired -- but I don't find either to be a bad compromise. Forensic technicians and janitors being movement impaired is fine, because of this: Cargo technicians being able to be impaired, however, is something I'll look into. It does seem a little weird. Good point. Will look into this. Good point. Will look into this. The reason for this is that a lot of science jobs need you to be in fairly good shape to run or otherwise carry out dangerous activities (slimes, EVA in toxins/xenoarch fall into this category) while roboticists need to lift very heavy things very often. Consider any previous rulings to be void.
  13. This appeal is denied and, more than likely, all following appeals will be as well. You have proved time and time again that you cannot be trusted to hang around Aurora. Chances are not infinite and you have burnt your last.
  14. I disagree with removing slugs from the autolathe. They could stand to be made more excessive, but a hard removal is a no-go. They're a useful tool for both antagonists and security - the latter of which needs them for some specific armors. Voting for dismissal.
  15. After asking the other head of staff whitelist managers, we don't think you have the playtime or experience with the community to properly play a head of staff. I reccomend you get more involved in OOC channels as well as IC and re-apply in a month or so.

  17. It isn't intended to be this way, no. I'll fix it.
  18. I don't feel like your responses are satisfactory. To keep it short, I don't think this application is up to par, and I have to give it a -1. The character you described is essentially formless; in fact, from most of your backstory, it seems like you intentionally skipped the most important part of basically every Tajara's backstory (the war, specifically), you wrote a backstory that intentionally skipped the things that would tie them into Adhomai (religion, family), one of which you intentionally didn't elaborate on on an application for the species you're playing, when you very well know that religion is a core-concept of ANY Tajaran character. I'm inclined to believe, based on your answers, that the character you submitted is only an excuse to play a PRA drone rather than an actual Tajara. The inclusion of the last part of your application regarding homosexuality is honestly bizzarre too. I honestly don't get why you included something like that but not religion? You wrote a character that lost everything to the PRA and has no ties whatsoever to Adhomai beyond a single good (one could argue not even good, honestly, but the bare minimum) act by the government and this was enough to radicalize your character into leaving Adhomai and being an unparalleled shill for said government with absolutely no remorse? While it's true that hate radicalizes you have given some really, really poor reasons. In fact, those reasons I would say are still insufficient. I'm also of the opinion that you should know as a lore developer that your writing should be explicit in an application. You're exposing the character you want to play and showing your understanding of the lore; how are you supposed to do this when you intentionally hide story important details?
  19. The screenshots you posted are an unfair comparison. The former one is full size, while the bottom one is stretched due to your screen being on stretch to fit. Here's a better representation:
  20. Good stuff! I look forward to seeing this character and you have my endorsement.
  21. You're describing a character who lost basically everything to the PRA (all their siblings, their entire home and all their limbs) but they're still a party shill. Why is this? Surely this feeling of absolute party loyalty can't come out of nowhere. While it is true that in the end the PRA was partly responsible for giving her her limbs back, your character is an ardent party supporter throughout the entire backstory. There is no point at which she questions her loyalty to the party nor do you ever elaborate on why she's actually this loyal, which is a problem, as all character feelings should naturally be reconducible to something. Again, why is it her duty? This backstory puts forward a lot of concepts but never actually dwells on the why. What does your character think about religion? This is another thing you haven't touched upon, despite religion being an important concept for nearly all Tajara. Similarly, what does your character think about the rest of the factions?
  22. How religious is your character? You mentioned that they even thought about joining the Parivara. That surely takes some dedication to worship, does it not? What're your character's unbridled views on their own nation, the NKA? Do they feel guilt about leaving and why?
  23. Like Alberyk said, it was a very big mistake for the previous administration to not capitalize on the Relay, as it were. It's a very very big part of the server at this point, and one that should become official, in my opinion, as it'd allow us to do a lot of cool things such as events or arc side-shows (like one that's running right now). It could be said that this can happen currently because it is, and it's true, however it becomes a little iffy when moderation is done by two parallel groups with no appeal or complaint process. This also creates situations in which it's awkward to enforce the rules (and was the main reason why moderators didn't really enforce rules prior to the creation of relay mods; they were accountable to someone not in their staff structure, firstly, and secondly there was no inherent punishment structures unlike Borealis' strike system). It's bound to be a problem is the thing. Letting evident holes persist because they haven't leaked water yet isn't a good idea, especially when they may get in the way of further integration. People also seem to be assuming moderators and administrators are disinterested. I'm not sure where this comes from other than experience with moderation teams that no longer exist (the administration and moderation teams have changed dramatically since 2017, including their stances on these things) or from claims made by dubious people.
  24. That was a lot longer than 24 hours, but, archived.
