  1. After some discussion between maintainers following community response, we've chosen to merge this PR. To solve the inconsistency issue we've outlined, we've also ironed out that the perspective we want to move towards is indeed 3/4ths, considering that most of the current SS13 servers use it. Do note however that it'll probably be a long process and will need our own resprites of a lot of things (walls and doors, for example).
  2. I remember telling the lore team back when I PR'd cloning removal that retconning it completely was the best long term solution. At the time however some middle of the road compromise was chosen which meant that we ended up with current cloning lore. In my opinion we should rip the bandaid and just kill it off completely. Honestly I don't care about the 2 characters total that use cloning as part of their backstory.
  3. Voting for dismissal. Sorry, but cloning and the lore issues/plot holes it causes (e.g why aren't important political figures just scanned? it'd make assassinations completely worthless) and the effort it takes to fix them isn't worth the trouble. Yes, technically we could make cloning run a person's brain into the ground, metaphorically speaking, but then the question becomes why have this at all. I don't want to cheapen the aspect of death on the server and I already think that the cloning lore we have right now should've been removed straight up. You're wrong: I removed cloning because with the new medical system it would've been far too overpowered to keep in in any sort of capacity. This isn't changing, and if you want to make it so bad to use in round that the gameplay issues are addressed, then you run into the earlier point of "the plot holes this causes aren't worth it".
  4. Realistically, the only two options are Idris cargo and another corporation that's shareheld between a few of the other corps, probably the ones who actually have stock in shipping - Nanotrasen, Zavodskoi and Hephaestus mainly.
  5. Zavodskoi's medical wing is entirely vestigial. It's a remainder of when the corporation was called Necropolis and had a biomedical division. Current Zavodskoi, as described on the wiki, is like this: Zavodskoi Interstellar is a manufacturing and development conglomerate founded in 2259. They specialize in all forms of weaponry, ranging from small arms and squad weapons, to armored vehicles and combat EVA equipment. Previously known as Necropolis Industries, Zavodskoi Interstellar has retreated from the genetic research scene to focus on military and police equipment in recent years. However, they still possess a significant genetics branch - though it pales in comparison to Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals.
  6. It's not ideal to add NT to cargo because that'd push the corp to 4 departments, thus making it the "default" corp again. I made this list keeping each corp at 3 at most to have different corps still be competing instead of having one corporation in most departments or whatever. These things aren't being done out of nowhere, we're having a massive setting change that redefines corporations as we know it which requires some changes. Knowing that, how exactly is anything "out of nowhere"?
  7. On trial until 24AUG2021.
  8. I'm not against it.
  9. Nurse was removed because it was a functionally useless alt title. I'm not sure where people are imagining that it was used for roleplay, because it wasn't: the one nurse character that I can remember did the exact same thing a physician does now. There's not really enough content for nurse to even consider that people might do something creative with the role, because they already can as physician. Why aren't they? The truth is that the much coveted "patient RP" is completely inexistant and will forever be. People don't want to be stuck in the medbay for more than they have to because it's utterly boring. This is because when injuries actually happen, there's going to be a large influx of patients or that person needs to get out ASAP, because more than likely they're a security officer. On that note, I also don't agree with the assessment that job bloat doesn't exist. It's a very real thing. Example: do you remember when we had roboticist alt titles and people would regularly play mechatronic engineers? That all seems fine and cool until you remember that there were often cases where two roboticists would play mechatronic engineer and give a gigantic middle finger to IPCs that got wounded or borgs in general, because they limit themselves to playing a roboticist that only makes mechs in a limited slot job. This is a real problem and it exists in other forms, too: like people described, the path a patient takes through medical (lobby -> stabilization/scanning in the GTR -> surgery) doesn't allow for a third role in the midst of it all. This is why it's been streamlined to physician and surgeon; a nurse role is going to inevitably step on the toes of a physician and rob them of basically the only purpose their job has, considering that the only times they ever do surgery is when surgeons are lacking. That's not really something I want to happen. And the prospect of a nurse only playing to do patient RP is pretty ridiculous, one that I'm not even going to entertain. This is why I was against nurses being re-added - I do admit there's bias since I was the one that removed the role entirely, but I haven't seen much of a convincing argument.
  10. I would not approve a life sized chess board being moved into any public space, mainly because it's a ridiculous prospect. It should remain in maintenance. Voting for dismissal.
  11. Don't really have anything to say other than the fact that you lied to me when you said you read the rules in admin PMs, which then segways to me telling you to reconsider if an HRP server is for you, considering your last few notes were all about LRP and bad antag play. I don't really view that as me seeing you below my time.
  12. We've investigated things for a while and have come to a conclusion. Considering that your ticket was already resolved, there's nothing we can act upon. If you disagree with their judgement, a staff complaint is what you are looking for, so what happened in game is not being dealt with in this complaint. Instead, we took a longer look at the Discord conversation. Let me start off by saying that neither of the parties involved are blameless. There are definitely snipes and escalatory comments coming from both Memescope and Scheveningen. We don't really consider the incident to be bad enough to require action for either of you two, though. The biggest problems here were the accusations of lying, but a) both sides said that the other was lying and b) it wasn't worded in a particularly improper way. It seems like that entire discussion was the byproduct of a particularly bad round for both sides and we didn't see any egregious comments, really. In conclusion, these things happen, keep it civil on Discord for next time please. Locking in 24 hours.
  13. The solution is to code more things for other corporations. Zeng-Hu was just the only corporatiion that got this at the time because it was in dire need of a facelift and incentives for people to play them, since if you recall before this rework Zeng-Hu had a population of zero and absolutely no flavour going for it. Other corporations were self sustaining. It seems to me rather obvious that other corporations can get mechanically useful augments. Voting for dismissal.
  14. I wasn't told this by the player. In fact, they just said "I went to the location", without elaborating on it. The original adminhelp I took simply stated that they performed a rescue in lieu of medical.
