  1. Willing to try it, but I am PRETTY SURE this will result in comically fast antag deaths or security wipes.
  2. I feel like the whitelist is basically a formality for goolies. He's been around for so long with such consistently good characters that I really don't see a way he fails at playing the species without dropping some racist shit in chat and disappearing into the Atlantic. Goolies also cares a TON for the lore and always makes something interesting happen. Hard +1
  3. BYOND Key: Roostercat12 Character Names: For currently active characters: Jaquelyn Roberts Denim Raines Victoria Kimball Za'Akaix'Rakii C'thur Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Green or Tan Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: no lol (yes) (no) (maybe) Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: Unathi fill an interesting niche to me. They can be bombastic and honorbound or weird technophiles that live in the desert. Their mannerisms and just how different their society is come off as extremely interesting to me. I got particular enjoyment out of reading their social mannerisms when it comes to body language, such as the fact that they see staring unblinkingly at someone while crouched to their eye level as perfectly normal and proper, and how those same mannerisms conflict with the rest of the spur. Their attitude is engaging and their focus on religion is something I don't see come out as often in other races (barring Dominians obviously). Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: For one thing, their society and how they act socially are a completely different ballgame. Going from Feudal life to a corporate spaceship with every known species in the Spur is a hell of a transition, and the cultural clashes of Unathi with any other culture are something I see on a regular basis. On top of this, they have WAY more emphasis on body language than anyone else does. Actual mechanics speaking, they can run in what is basically a short-range teleport for a long stamina recharge, fucking die in the cold (sort of), and are built to eat brute trauma for breakfast. This isn't so much a glass cannon as much as it is a cannon with a very short range. Character Name: Saheel Zahr'ko Please provide a short backstory for this character Born into the Zahr'ko clan on Moghes, Saheel's birthplace was nestled into the Untouched lands of the desert planet during the Contact War. His clan was greatly affected by the atomic exchange that obliterated most of the planet's surface, reducing them from a great clan with many members to only a few dozen by the time it was all said and done, only spared by the fact that their now sole village was sufficiently far away from population centers that were likely to be struck next, and even then the resulting fallout washing over from the newly created wasteland that was dangerously close to their homes killed more. This put the clan into survival mode and also happened to strengthen their belief in Th'akh tenfold, as religion became an escape from what had befallen the clan and a way to grieve for the lost, instead of just a part of life. Regardless of this devastation mere years before his hatching, Saheel was raised with the Warrior code in mind. Its tenets were drilled into his mind and he was expected to follow it to the letter, regardless of what he himself actually wanted to do. When he became of age, he was set off to be married in a bid to make an alliance with a neighboring clan, to which Saheel complied and married his wife Kah'nla, to which he quickly fell for in earnest, the two coincidentally being a perfect pairing. Now in his mid-twenties, Saheel has already had multiple children and has dreams of moving on beyond Moghes, having heard stories of what lies beyond the radiated sandball that is his home planet. He'd gone his entire life following whatever was expected of him, and only recently had the idea of his own free will jarred in somewhere, and he wanted that for his entire family. The only problem was, he had absolutely no idea what the world 'out there' was like. He figured the only way to find out - and be likely to survive - was to take up a job with the Corporations, and so he did, as a security officer that was assigned to the SCCV Horizon for a totally safe and not ratchet-as-hell exploration voyage. What do you like about this character? I set this character up to be the type that is well-meaning and genuine, but drastically out of his depth when it comes to interacting with other species. He wants to see what else the galaxy has to get his family the hell off of Moghes, and while he intends on living that goal out, he really has no clue whatsoever of how to interact with anyone that is not a Unathi or a K'lax. He has THE CODE™ drilled into his gator brain and a lifetime of clan backing and religion following the somewhat traumatic experience of living a childhood in the last decade of the Contact War, but that really doesn't count for much when you are suddenly the minority. He is Pure of Heart, but Dumb of Ass. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 0/10 the fact that I have played here for years without getting banned is nothing but a miracle Notes: I made this just to assassinate geeves' next character
  4. From how I can see it, @The Rebelion has very little investment in playing the game, as stated by Sycmos and Dreamix, and has repeatedly talked ill of either the players or the state of the game while having very little experience actually playing it. That combined with the phrasing of their arguments is a rulebreak of the Don't be a Dick rule, as its basically just trashtalking with very little basis. Humor is subjective, and I don't see this disclaimer appear very often in logs. You are not the judge of what other people see your behavior as. Claiming 'the vast majority of players' and similar lines is not really a valid argument because its not very provable and has no actual names tied to it. People seeing your arguments are affected one way or the other, and from what I can tell, its usually on the negative end. A lot of people won't speak up about negative things on the server, for one reason or another, so just because they didn't tell you directly doesn't mean it is not happening. The onus is on you to read the room, so to speak. Additionally, this 'vibes-based' stuff is ridiculous. If multiple people feel the need to straight up block you, you are doing something wrong. All of that being said, due to your negative impact on the community with no playtime to justify your arguments, you are going to be permanently banned from the official discord servers until appeal, and you can appeal in 1 month (8/06/2023). This is only a discord ban, and you are still able to connect to the server. I highly suggest you do connect and play some rounds if you want to come back to discord.
  5. Generally all benefit of the doubt is gone when someone has a warning and multiple notes about the same thing. Regardless of the reason, you need to let SOMEONE know that you are taking off. This doesn't really have an exception. Even a quick ahelp saying something along the lines of "I have to go" will do. But just taking off constantly, almost every note you have on this being a very important limited slot role by the way, is not going to fly. Still, I am willing to raise the ban for now. Just know that doing this any further is extremely likely to result in a ban that stays.
  6. Right. I'm willing to give you another chance at this, just be aware that a lack of escalation and such is definitely not going to be tolerated, so please be careful about it. Appeal accepted.
  7. Hi. I'll be handling this complaint. It will take some time for me to mull all this over as well as read discord logs, so don't expect a verdict for a few days. In the meanwhile, I ask to please keep all discussion here civil and ONLY POST IF YOU ARE INVOLVED. These kinds of complaints usually have issues with the last bit.
  8. It very much is an argument and does not become invalid purely because you say so. People like playing pharmacist, and people like playing physician. Not everybody likes to do both. Just because engineering has an issue does not mean we suddenly need to cram medical roles together. They are completely different departments and different mechanics/gameplay loops altogether. That and being a pharmacist is much more complicated than just 'check the wiki' if you want a good selection of chems and that selection is not common sense. Not to mention the skill and muscle memory it takes to make a large amount of all of those in roughly half an hour, which is when people expect chems to be done.
  9. I like this idea a lot. It fits as a simulation lore wise (especially since we've done this before) and it solves the blatant issue of infrequent ship combat plaguing new BC/Xo/Captain players. It's a shame to have so many ship guns and cool things and not use them because it simply doesn't make sense for some random pirate to go FUCK IT and launch a flak barrage at a ship 20x its size. Plus we'd actually get to use the battleship sprite that is in the overmap ships dmi.
  10. Hi! Given this is a zippo, it will probably be fine, but you do need to have it named something a little more character specific as the name Nralakk Zippo is very generic and could just be mistaken as a loadout tem or something.
  11. As someone that plays medical, it really doesn't feel bloated. In fact I think the four roles we have works perfectly fine. I really don't understand why people keep coming in to try and merge all the roles together so it just winds up as eight or more people doing the same exact thing. THAT would make the department feel bloated. Beyond that, I echo Sophie's reasoning. Not a single time have I ever felt the removal of roles benefitted the roleplay environment even slightly (except some of the engineering ones and the two dif phys titles, the electricians that refused to set the engine boiled my blood). All it does is blob everything together and make it all samey and boring. Big -1
  12. You saw someone in a red suit walk into medical and immediately jumped on them. This is because you know OOCly that a red suit is usually only something antags get a hold of, which you then used as justification to call backup on them. You then said they were possibly armed because you know antags can buy firearms. Saying you did it because they had "clothing that could conceal weaponry" is not a justification because the same could apply to basically everybody on the ship. You saw red suit, you followed them, and called backup because you knew they were an antag. There was not really another IC reason to justify this as they had not done anything prior to suggest they were armed. You do infact have a note on metagaming a changeling, meaning you have absolutely been talked to in the past about this, hence why it is a ban.
  13. As someone who plays BC quite a lot, I think the pacman maze of hazards errs more on tedious than mechanically interesting. It can take fucking DECADES to reach a spot and even then there is no guarantee you will actually find what you are looking for anyway, as the bearings you get at roundstart get pretty hard to track when you have to go halfway across the map because four zipcodes worth of carp are having a convention next to the ship roundstart. I think two ways to improve this is to make it so more gaps appear in hazards for the ship to traverse through or, alternatively, making the scan generated at round start repeatable so you can get up to date bearings on locations. I don't think it would be too terrible to revert them back to what they were before either should those not really work. It would just mean flying into hazards is less common, though it would definitely mean more third party ship interaction. I've tried to use these twice and both times they didn't move from the tile the horizon was on and just stayed in place, not scanning anything. I also think it should take less time to scan objects in general. It can take a REALLY long time if you are far away enough (not on top of the object)
  14. The big problem here is that your behavior has not improved very much since the ban from what I can see. Multiple bans and more notes to boot regarding security play (which typically speaks to how your antag play would be) and iirc you have only been back playing the game for a few days. Sorry, but I am not confident in lifting this ban until you show a substantial amount of time with improved behavior. Appeal Denied.
  15. I'm willing to lift this ban given its been a while and I think you are sincere. Will lift it later today when I log on. But really wtf do you think PBing someone in the face five times with any gun is going to do butter
  16. Really the big nail in the coffin here was the fact that you did it, and then immediately DC'd the moment you got captured. The DC is what made me ban you. Almost your entire note history - including another ban by the way - is based around you going SSD and just flat DCing without using cryo. I will lift this ban, but understand that you are basically out of chances when it comes to just leaving. I will lift it later today when I log on.
  17. Stuff like this is the bane of the pharmacy-less medical. One time I had someone wait for over half an hour to fix their ribs purely because they had a lot of brute trauma. Nothing else was wrong with them. It was probably the most boring thing imaginable for them. Getting something to reduce or remove this wait would be great. Maybe bones don't rebreak upon fixing when past the damage threshold but any MORE damage when in said threshold will instabreak it.
  18. I've known Faye for a long while, at this point years, and I can say without a doubt she is one of the most passionate players on the server when it comes to the lore, with her Gibson rework and her synthetic characters being pretty good examples of that. Her attitude has also gotten endlessly better as well, so I think she'd be perfect for the position. +1
  19. Hi. I used to be the lore maintainer for the Vaurca, and the biggest thing I usually see people mess up is the nuances to playing a Vaurca that are abnormal to other species. In other words, their weirdness often isn't played well. That being said, here are some questions for you. What does Tek think of the Ve'katak Phalanx? (If you are unsure of what this is, there is a search bar in the wiki you can plug the name into) How is the combat engineer angle going to work? Vaurca in general are extremely specialized, and swapping departments is likely to just be a flat no. Consider a scenario in which a racist crewmember insults the Queens and calls your Vaurca an overgrown Ant. How would Tek respond?
  20. Hi. I've been doing some sec rounds recently with your HoS, and I like them a lot! They are professional, know what they are doing, and generally do a very good job and coordinating the department. I think you should get the WL. +1
  21. As stated by Peppermint, you really went too far with this gimmick to the point where it gets dangerously close to sexual assault themes. The logs I posted allude to that, your mentions of "He will like it eventually" allude to that, and you were doing this for basically the entire round. If you do not understand it at this point, then I seriously doubt you ever will. Furthermore, attributing this to Peppermint being out to get you specifically is very silly. Let me be clear, you absolutely did break the rules. The rules do not state every specific situation that constitutes a rulebreak, and a lot of the ERP rule is left to common sense and to what and what is not allowed. Your character was being obsessive and saying very strange things about Clark and it just feels really awkward even reading the logs again. This does not at all mean that it didn't make anyone uncomfortable. There are people who dislike things and do not ahelp them, for some reason. That and we cannot cherrypick rules based on the people being affected by actions, as Peppermint stated. Inducing consent is quite literally the opposite of giving consent. This is what I mean when I say the ERP rule involves common sense. You have zero right to say this. You are only yourself, and not everybody else. There is absolutely no way you could have known how everyone else was feeling about it, so stop trying to use this to justify your actions. This is the biggest red flag you have given me in this entire complaint and basically cements that you are in beyond the wrong headspace for this. Still, Peppermint's decision is being upheld. In the interest in not allowing this to go any further, I am going to lock and archive this complaint early. This behavior is not acceptable and, as stated, it is a miracle that it was only a warning. I suggest you be extremely careful with your gimmick choice in the future.
  22. Hi. We have gone through the logs, and this is frankly a pretty cut and dry deal. Look at this. This is honestly beyond the borderline for creepy. You cannot say you are going to peck on someone a real lot and then mention the 'Special Techniques' and expect people to think literally anything else other than its you making it sexual. This is extremely obvious and, if you still cannot see how it is taken as such, then I am not sure how else to explain it to you. Additionally, to cover your other points, 1. This is not a common thing. It is always a rulebreak and if people are reported or noticed doing stuff like this, it is handled. 2. We do not need to go to every single person you interacted with to confirm that this is not okay. Overall, I nor @Melariara see anything wrong with how this situation was handled. If you have nothing else significant to bring up, this will be locked and archived in 24 hours.
