[Accepted]Za'Ariara - Melariara Vaurca App
Roostercat replied to Melariara's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Known Mel for a while, and I know they are a fantastic roleplayer. Also satisfied with the backstory and answers to questions. App Accepted. -
Hi, Vaurca Maintainer here. I will be taking this complaint since its 75 percent a question of whether or not the Vaurca involved were in the right. So, starting off, I do not see an issue with the Consular's behavior here. You walked up to them, insulted them, and they insulted you back. Consulars and Vaurca as a whole are allowed to do this. Ta are high in the social hierarchy of Vaurca, and while they are there to build relations, they are by no means required to be nice and accommodating to people actively talking down to them, threatening etc. I also do not view this as the Consular picking a fight, either. This is because, even by your own description, you are the one picking a fight here. This entire complaint essentially encompasses an entirely IC issue. There are two parts to this section, The calling of vaurca to their aid and the humanlike insults, so I'll tackle them one after the other. 1: Calling other Vaurca This is something Ta and other Vaurca do incredibly often, as others have said. Ta can, and are expected to, call other Vaurca to their aid in situations like this as they are very important in the hive's structure, and are revered in Vaurca society. There is no issue with doing things like this as long as the Vaurca attending are not currently busy with another emergency. 2: Humanlike insults While the Vaurca can be socially ignorant or confused, to the extent this goes is largely determined by the player. All three major hives are integrated into a species' society in some fashion, and all three also involve humans. Thus some Vaurca would know how humans speak and talk, and would know their insults as well. There is little issue with a Vaurca swearing as long as it is kept reasonable and there is a just cause for it. The Guwan calling falls under this umbrella as well. You insulted a Ta, so you got called a Guwan. Tit for tat. Do not expect Vaurca to just bow down to whatever insults are being flung at them, as retaliating back in this instance doesn't quite hurt the hive's reputation. Overall, this complaint reads like this: Unathi: Insults Ta Ta: Insults back and calls Vaurca after being threatened Unathi: Attacks And then a player complaint was made. This is an IC issue, and fits an incident report far more than a player complaint. If nobody else has anything to add, this will probably be locked and archived in 24 hours.

Staff Complaint regarding: Rooster teeth
Roostercat replied to SatinsPristOTD's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
Hi. First things first, I am not at all obliged to tell you what I actually did with the other person. Talking to them can mean a variety of things, so do not just assume I did nothing. Secondly, people are allowed to leave when they are uncomfortable with something happening, in this case the Thralling. How they did it was an issue, but not a massive one, and they were talked to about it. End of story. There is also zero obligation for staff to compensate you for anything that happened, additionally. Secondly, I believe you misunderstand how combat and Rp work together here. Most roleplay comes from the escalation of conflict and so on. When fighting starts, it is mostly whoever is the most robust that is allowed to win. Players go down when mechanics make them go down, not when they RP going down because they supposedly take a lot of damage. That is why this game HAS a mechanical side. Players do not have to just give up in a fight because you are a Vampire that just sucked their blood. You attacked Voight twice, letting him remember it both times, so he fought back the second time when he woke up. i consider this okay, as it is obvious you are attacking them and there was some escalation involved (the first attack) thus making it believable that they would protect themselves to the best of their ability, with their ability being determined by the mechanics the game has in place. Mechanics are there to supplement roleplay. There are two sides to the server, RP, and mechanical gameplay. Escalation before a fight + the aftermath is the RP side, and the actual fight is the mechanical side, with the game determining who goes down first and so on. Just because he fought you effectively with "low blood" does not at all mean he exploited anything. It means the game determined he still has enough blood to move and fight. There was no conscious exploiting going on here. This seems kinda' hypocritical. You are insinuating that you are fine with them fighting back, but you are also upset that they almost won in fighting you back. Do not expect people to just give up for no reason because they supposedly lost blood. On that note, I think you grossly overestimate how much blood vampires take when they drain people. A long time ago, Vampire feeding DID take a significant amount of blood, to the point of killing after 3-4 goes. After that, it was nerfed very hard and now it very rarely takes someone below 90 percent blood oxy, if it even goes below 95. It is likely Voight was nowhere near low on blood, and was perfectly fine after the sucking. This is partially why Vamps usually keep the bite ability on the forget option. You are twisting words here. I told you he was not powergaming and that there was no abuse of mechanics. Additionally, there is little RP to be done in the middle of a fight. I do not expect people to start typing mid brawl. Here are the logs for the ticket. -
[Accepted] Myphic's Bug City Updates
Roostercat replied to Myphicbowser's topic in Lore Canonization Applications Archive
Hi. We like the majority of the doc, and will be accepting this application. But do still be aware that we are able to change whatever we want on it, and a lot of the crime stuff and some others will either be toned down or removed, since its a little too overt for the vaurca to reasonably get away with it. -

Alberyk Deputy Loremaster Application
Roostercat replied to Alberyk's topic in Developer Applications Archives
I don't believe you should be deputy loremaster for the sole reason that it would mean you have head responsibilities in three major areas of staff. That being head admin, development (technically not head dev but you have enough sway to fulfill that role in my mind anyway) and now lore development. It's just not a good idea for someone to have no checks in regards to what they do with the server aside from the host. Otherwise I wouldn't have much issue with it. -1 -
Nope. Just the necklace with the description is enough for me to roleplayium this into existence.

Roostercat replied to NotASpider's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Keep in mind this is feedback. We are not dogpiling you for no reason. people are -1ing your app because of things you have done as Aclipsa, which is who you primarily play, and those things are likely to carry along to any other character you create. Take care not to throw away negative feedback purely because it is negative, as that defeats the entire point of feedback. -
DrFarson - Head Role Application
Roostercat replied to Dr. Farson's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I concur with Faye's point of issues with staying in your lane. Farson is often played like he knows next to everything, while a lot of the time in practice it feels liek you don't know much about medical mechanics wise. On top of that, you don't have much activity on the server, as you just came back from a hiatus. I also feel like you don't have a grasp on all being Command entails given you are trying to make a Zeng-Hu char go NT command either. Gonna have to -1 this one. -
Apologies for the delay. Finals week. I'll unban you this time, but know that if you repeat your behavior, you will be banned again, and likely won't be unbanned again.

Roostercat replied to NotASpider's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I have some apprehensions about Sil Aclipsa being a CMO. There have been multiple times where you have done chemistry as a physician, and your medical skill has also been in question, to the point where you were even asked to go back to intern for a while. I have not really seen Sil Aclipsa on much since then, so I don't think this jump to CMO is a good idea, so I'm not too confident previous issues have been fixed. Gonna' have to say -1 for this one. -
I am fully aware of what happened, and all this appeal is really doing is going over the story again. There isn't really any recognition of the rules you broke or anything, so how do I know you will not just rejoin the server and start doing these behaviors again immediately?

lore writer Haydizzle's Deputy Loremaster Application
Roostercat replied to Haydizzle's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Around the beginning of Haydizzle becoming lizard master supreme, I remember seeing the conversations and long long messages of complaining. Complaining that there was so much shit to fix. And Haydizzle WAS doing the fixing back then, so the beginning of his tenure went very well, in my eyes. Thus the argument that he has done nothing at least somewhat falls apart. At first. LATELY it seems Unathi lore has stagnated completely, which I am not going to put all blame on Haydizzle for, as I have not been terribly active either. But to that point, he is still a present entity that gives opinion on matters, which is a large part of loremastering. BUT I feel like the idleness is getting a bit worse, in that I see you around less and less as time goes on, so I do have some worries that you might not be as active as some would want you to be. Being there for the Unathi community is good, but as a deputy loremaster you have to be present for all of the communities, often. It's a massive time commitment, and I'm not too sure you can keep up with it right now, from experience. So in my eyes, you are fit to be the Unathi developer as of now, but I'm not too sure on deputy loremaster for activity reasons. -
I have been against the change from the beginning, and have stated my reasons for such multiple times. At one point I had even drafted out a rework that adds more effects and background and etcetera. Originally the reasoning behind this was that it was a plothole. IE "Why not clone frost?" to which I answer "They shot him in the head fifteen times". This change felt extremely forced and on rails and it did not at all feel like I had any say in it at one point. I think it should be reverted to what it was before and changed to add ill effects and restrictions IE no cloning if the head is gone and similar lines. It adds another origin for people and gives interesting ways to roleplay out being a clone. If they don't RP it out and just use it as an excuse to revive, its breaking the believable character rule. These changes have outright nullified a few characters due to drastically changing their backstories so hard they can no longer be played without some major asspulls, all because some people looked at lore and came up with a bogus hypothetical situation to justify removing lore.

BYOND Key: Roostercat12 Discord Username: Roostercat#8032 Character Name: Jaquelyn Roberts Item Name: (if you are applying for multiple items, it should be made into a list with the description, name and appearance together): Shrapnel Necklace Item Function(s): Can be worn as an accessory on uniforms because there is no necklace slot. Otherwise its purely cosmetic. Item Description: "A necklace consisting of a piece of shrapnel on a silver chain, with a pink wire running around the back. You can feel a pulse similar to a heartbeat from a small device on the back side of the Shrapnel, with the wire feeding into it." Why is your character bringing this item to work?: It has significant sentimental value to her, and she brings it practically everywhere as it helps keep her calmer. How did your character obtain this item?: It was gifted to her by her soon-to-be wife for their anniversary. What value does this item have to your character, and what story does it tell?: The necklace was given to Jaquelyn by her SO right after the second invasion of Biesel, near their anniversary. Said SO was volunteering to give medical aid to fighters when a piece of shrapnel nearly killed her, shooting into the wall beside her. She took the piece of shrapnel, and turned it into a necklace that beats in tune with her heartbeat with data from her wrist monitor, giving it to Jaquelyn as a sort of assurance that she is safe (due to Jackie being paranoid as hell). [Denied] Deserve_Nothing's Unban Request
Roostercat replied to pickle's topic in Unban Requests Archive
Just because it was not reported the first time does not make it okay. Additionally, even when people are uncomfortable, it's not like they will simply cease speaking at all due to it. They will still talk and the like to stay in character as they did when this was reported. This falls to common sense. If people are uncomfortable with extremely crass language, going to the same people and silently recording them with no additional context out of the blue is going to be seen as targeted behavior. This is obvious. This, again, falls to common sense. The occasional lightly crass comment or whatever is fine. But you went way overboard. Silently recording specific people for no reason is creepy, and should not be done. The type of character you made is bound to cause similar feelings to most people on the server, and I personally would recommend remaking them, or else this will just keep popping up. I am not interested in watching you come up with a new way to show off creepy behavior, just because you were not explicitly told X specific thing was not okay. it will just spiral into more loopholes forever, and creep out more people. The LOOC comments after the last incident should have made you aware that people are uncomfortable with how your character acts, and I am not buying the claim that you were unaware, given you even mentioned it in LOOC yourself. The above quote tells me your reactions is more of a "I'm sorry you feel that way' rather than a "I apologize, I will stop." And the fact you still feel the ban was unwarranted cements that. Take the rest of this ban as time to reconsider how your character acts as a whole. Appeal denied. -
[Accepted] Vaurca Application (Charger10k)
Roostercat replied to Charger10k's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
We're satisfied with the apllication and the answers provided. Application accepted! -
I really dislike how we are playing jenga with the corporation’s colors. It basically throws any set theme they had before out of the window for the sake of aesthetics. I don’t feel very confident in “We are working on writing them to make sense” and similar resonings to explain it, as I have not seen any of this actually happen. Zavod should stay red, and Hephaestus should stay green. NT only makes sense because it conflicted with the SCC’s color scheme.
-
Keep the discussion civil, please.
-
Forgot SCC is going to be its own thing. My bad. In that case, I don't see much issue with it. Will just have to get used to the color.
-
Echoing the thought of coloration. Just changing color schemes on the fly like this are not a good idea. Navy blue with white striped would be good, as it fits NT and also isn't something any of the other corps use atm. besides the weird pink colors, the sprites look good.
