  1. From what I can tell, it seems they want the level of punishment raised due to the previous statement by Alb?
  2. The key issue with this was my lack of escalation, which is fair. I did, however, believe that there had been more escalation prior to the event. I heard there was an attempt on your life, and that you would therefore be in surgery, and thought this was going to be my chance to finish the job. The surgeon was new, and I didn't want to interrupt their learning experience, so decided to wait. I had, however, gone to great lengths to get to the spot I was in to get to you, my target, just to let you escape. Another issue with the situation was that the first shots were by the present officer. Had I not been shot at, I would have had the chance to actually provide more RP on the scene. As it stood, I was tased and injured with a gun in my hand and knew I would face cyborgification. I opted to choose the easy way out. I do apologise for both not waiting for an answer from you before attacking. I genuinely didn't know if you could see my LOOC messages. I also don't know what was up with that headgib. Didn't even know the 9mm was capable of that.
  3. Not entirely sure if I am correct to respond to this, but I was present at the time. It was clear, based on evidence, that something had provoked Carmichael to shoot at the Wizard. It is also really really easy to just click away the popup when it appears and not register it. Amory realised he had taken the brain damage, immediately corrected himself in a humorous way, and everyone present went about their day without mentioning the slipup again ICly. I have nothing against Sonic, but I was extremely confused when I head this had warranted a permenant ban.
  4. My primary concerns, currently, are with pain. As a hulking vampire, I engaged an officer who baton tased me. I lost the use of both arms, yet was still capable of moving and walking and not downed. I ended up being caught because all I could do was run.
  5. Still more durable than Tajara. Tajara, again, do not need artifical supports to stand on two feet.
  6. If it were my choice, offworlders would be barred from security as a whole. They are simply not designed for the role. It doesn't feel right, having lanky, skinny 6 foot people with glass bones trying to do physical labour.
  7. Bauser is posting this reply by proxy. (The soft-ban role you gave me allows me to see the subforum, but I am still restricted from posting. At the time of posting, you haven't accepted my Discord request yet.) @Garnascus: No, it is not clean. But when you put it under a microscope, what I think you will find is that it's barely remarkable at all. You see how the same people who made a point of persecuting me then are also flocking to this complaint, trying to put some abstract idea of my character on trial, instead of my actions. They have been allowed to redirect the discussion as they please, and I am happy to oblige them. Because if you look at the actual progression of events, you will find plenty of ways that they have unduly targeted me. And in some cases, they are perfectly willing to deceive you to make it happen. Sytic says I was banned from NT-ISD for "trying to excuse the exection of individuals" - carefully ignoring the fact that I was excusing the execution of literal nazis (yes, still controversial, but not the great mark of evil he wants it to be). He says I "abused Snake's religious beliefs," and that's a lie. What I actually did was tell him he couldn't mathematically prove the existence of God. Sytic says I was posting softcore porn, but that's a lie. I had posted SFW fan-art. Here are examples: https://i.imgur.com/ApCo9Oy.jpg https://i.imgur.com/kS4ItMq.jpg https://i.imgur.com/S20SiHX.png Some people were enjoying it. That's why you can search for that "twunk" phrase and it wasn't me saying it. One time, I made an off-color comment about body paint, regarding a BOTW outfit that involves body paint. It's no different from the generic risque content that gets by regularly in these places. https://i.imgur.com/ryeaVw1.png https://i.imgur.com/tgsydbf.png https://i.imgur.com/MwTnNhX.png (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6DNdop6pD8) https://i.imgur.com/cqwosos.png And so, Sytic wrote a scathing rant calling me a pedophile. When I took issue with this, Geeves demanded I stop posting that content, and so I had to stop. But I called them fucked up for it, because I found it pretty disgusting to make that the topic, when it clearly is not related to the content. Even though Geeves agreed it was inappropriate to write that rant calling me a pedophile, he chose to go along with my ban because he agreed with what Sytic was saying ( https://i.imgur.com/M6Bk2Z1.png ). So that's the series of events: 1) I get brutally insulted by Sytic. 2) Geeves as moderator says I have to stop posting that content as a result. 3) I call them fucked up ( https://i.imgur.com/lJ9XyXD.png ) and Schev bans me for "harassing people relentlessly" and blocks me immediately to avoid discussion ( https://i.imgur.com/MBefu9w.png ) 4) Geeves tells me he didn't say anything about feeling harassed ( https://i.imgur.com/Btd36z3.png ) 5) I ask Geeves to explain that to Schev, but Geeves decides not to contest the ban because he agreed with calling me a pedophile ( https://i.imgur.com/M6Bk2Z1.png ). Like you say, it's not clean. But they've blown it so wildly out of proportion, while refusing to take responsibility for their own roles. Even in here, Schev just said: "Perhaps I should've seen consequences for my role in what happened and I would agree with that assessment. It's completely fair to characterize me as being an asshole to you in how I've dealt with you." What else is needed, but an admission that Schev, responsible for banning me in one place and cheering for me to be banned elsewhere, was purposefully antagonizing me and should face consequences for it? What else is needed, but the admission that the moderator who supported him and requested my ban now, Geeves, chose to let me be banned instead of being honest and admitting he wasn't harassed? What else is needed, but Alberyk's admission that the ban was about that crooked history, without examining it ( https://i.imgur.com/fnO9pFh.png )?
  8. This is fair. Have there been any suggestions as to what to implement in their place?
  9. Ah, the joys of integrated circuits. This is just as bad as the disarm-spam shock-gloves. Like force gloves, but worse!
  10. It's also really frustrating for other people who want the roles but can't play as head when there's three heads on in the same department. It's up to random chance at that point, but there's still more slots open to those with the whitelist than those without. Especially in security, where a Head of Security can arguably fill every other role in the department without anyone batting an eye. There's been a lot of opinions, and I concede the realism point. There's still issues with demanding respect and with jobhopping, however.
  11. This is the problem exactly, The issue is that people complain they're "taken out the round". Yeah, that's the point of killing you. If you die because you decided getting in the way of the guy with a gun was smart, that's your problem. If you're killed because you're a VIP with the only ID that can get into security, that's your problem. Do you have a bounty on your head? Your problem. Died because you weren't using your magboots and fell down a hole? Your problem. The devs get mad when we try suggesting the removal of cloning, we can't remove it, despite how disgustingly stupid it is both ICly and OOCly. Keep it in lore, remove it from the round. Could even give science the cloning bay and give it severe and extreme drawbacks.
  12. Delayed response, but we've been moving away from instant stuns and take-downs for a while now. The Ion rifle is currently the instant response takedown for IPCs, Bound Synths, Emagged Drones, RIGS, Mechsuits, and any and all laser weapons. Unlike laser fire and ballistics, the only counter-measures to an ion require you to be an antag. It is an instant, AOE takedown that can permanently remove IPCs and Synths alike due to the extreme overkill. It's easy to click twice and kill them by accident. The Ion gun is the only gun in the game that I consider the "non-lethal" mode of to actually be lethal. Out of all the rounds it has been used on me, perhaps one or two have not lead to me dying, being stuck in crit, or otherwise disabled for the remainder of the round.
  13. Perhaps a total rework of machines and science is more in order. If the station can become less reliant on upgrades and similar, perhaps we would be more willing to not feel obligated to fully research the tech tree every round. I believe that Science should be based on experiments and RNGesus over simply knowing a list off by heart. We have a Research shuttle for away missions, we have the Scouts suggestion, we even have a system for gaining levels, why not combine the three, having Away Missions be the basis of most rounds, and finding relics and gathering data being how research is progressed? Finding an ancient alien gun might give levels in combat, while an advanced medical system could be used to forward medical appliances. The current system makes almost no sense, literally fabricating a low-power laser then deconstructing it somehow makes you understand how it's built? That's like 3D printing something then taking it apart to see how it's made by the 3D printer, somehow now understanding how to make it better. TLDR: make research levels obtainable via RNG-spawned items on the asteroid/derelict, therefore making RND less mandatory and more rare. Prototypes given to you by RnD are now less normal!
  14. This is a similar suggestion to what I suggested a while back. I adore it, though I do wish it incorporated Robotics a little more; robotics is an underused department for anything other than mass-producing overpowered weapons. +1 EDIT: Another complaint with the system is that is seems quite simple. The concept of simply throwing someone in a regen vat then pumping them full of detox is far less intuitive and RP-providing than the brain trauma system could be (That is to say at the moment the trauma system is trash, and has little to no opportunity to RP). Twenty minutes of sitting around in medical, likely bound to a bed and sitting in a pool of vomit, however, is not fun at all, especially if the doctor's are just going to come and prick you a little every now and then.
  15. Makes more sense ICly, too.
  16. Reminder that the rule I have specified says nothing about hopping between Command roles. Head of Security - Captain is a logical swap to me, as is Head of Personnel - Captain.
  17. As stated by @UnknownMurder. Command-to-command hopping is not on the same level as Command to Non-Command, but jumping between pay brackets makes little sense, as said by @Scheveningen. @Nanteisaid that a Detective is qualified to be a Security Officer. This is true, really, it is. But a Captain is also qualified to be a bartender. The difference is the amount of training and qualifications they receive. The Detective role, according to the wiki, requires a Criminal Forensics degree or seven years experience in the Investigatory Department. Seven years is equivalent to getting a Master's Degree, give or take a year. The pay grade is different, Detectives are harder to come by, and require far more training, thus, they are paid more, as the field is more competitive. While the Detective can be an Officer, I do not believe they should be one. @Resilynnsaid that they had an IRL anecdote for this. While I am unsure of her job title I am quite certain that the HoS in question is likely cooking hotdogs because they enjoy cooking hotdogs, not because they are being paid to do so. I go in to work almost every day, even when I'm off work, but I sure as hell don't offer to do work for reduced pay.
  18. I like both the mace and the energy sword suggestions. I, myself, personally would see a 9mm pistol that can be concealed inside a pocket an assassin's weapon over an energy sword. The former is far more versatile and easier to hide. A Chinese Dao is a poor choice for the Unathi, it just doesn't feel like the type of weapon a Noble Unathi would wield. If anything, I'd have them carry a weapon that demonstrates their strength; a key part of Unathi culture. The esword alternative that is more for "inflicting pain" feels odd too: Unathi honor opposes torture, which the description of this weapon suggests. A sort of sonic mace, with similar stats to the telescopic baton, might seem more unique and logical to carry in this situation: it's a non-lethal weapon that carries the pride of the Unathi's physical might with it.
  19. Understood. Perhaps I'll try again in the distance future.
  20. These sprites are perfect. The colour scheme is dry, but it blends in and does not have any one faction’s look. The very term of “Mercenary” means that they are independent, for sale soldiers. Their base colour palette should be dry, and the various faction gear they can get should be added to it.
  21. This is a given. As part of the initial post by Booty, this is already the case. Scouts are a type of security. They're just differently suited. It's been explained that Scouts are for dealing with external crisis, while Security is for dealing with internal.
  22. Constructs. This is where the game is lacking. Remove the Shard's ability to manifest as an all-powerful god for brief moments, remove it's ability to stun and blind others. Cultists have two blood pools: their personal pool, and the global pool. The personal pool is drawn from by the blood-stone, either stored in the stone itself via sacrifice, or drawn from the host. The abilities it possesses are mostly personal spells similar to that of the vampire or wizard. This gives cultists a fighting chance as they passively restore blood and do not have to entirely rely on ganking others. The global pool is offered to the Shard by cultists, and works identically to the vampire's current and total blood-pools. As the total rises, new abilities are unlocked, and the Shard grows in strength. The usuable pool is then used to activate the unlocked spells, which should mostly be focused on rewarding the cultists with physical items, earlier levels grant things such as robes to enhance the abilities of the cultist, swords to defend themselves with, and basic utilities by way of spells such as the wizard's "knock" spell combined with the light-shattering scream of the vampire. One of the coolest features of AI is how the lights turn off before an explosion, imagine an evil deity's very presence flickering the lights around them. Later in the round, more concrete things can be made for the cultists, and this is where the constructs come into play. The Shard can expend blood to forge a dark, warped shell for a cultist, who then uses their bloodstone to activate it, prompting dead players to take the shell and allowing the lategame cult to command a legion of twisted horrors spawned of their unholy god's will. The cult should start weak, but eventually snowball into an unstoppable force capable of crushing even ERT. The constructs themselves should be more generalised, focused on being the front-line of combat, and capable of crushing most foes in one-on-one combat. They should be slow, big, and tanky. They do not hunt you down, but rather are a slow, unstoppable force that marches towards you. The endgame for cult should be simple. More and more of the constructs should be able to be built, and once the cult has enough presence and power, a hellish portal should be opened via a ritual that is confined to the holodeck. Once the portal is open, constructs are free and spawn shells constantly at it's site. The Geometer can step through, and once she does, all hope is lost. The very minds of cultist and crew alike are eaten away, forcing friend and foe against eachother, and reality crumbles to dust.
  23. Perhaps a better application of this would be the ability to coat bladed weapons (swords, spears, pikes, knives and glass shards) with poison in general. Applying a beaker or vial to a bladed weapon applies the poison, and holds the metabolism effects of the poison to a lesser degree. This would open the way to new types of poisons that keep wounds open, cause infections, or just do flat toxin damage over time, making it harder for the victim to be saved by medical without the correct treatment, similar to a snake's bite. You could give vials of such poison to the traitor menu for a decent TC cost, increasing the utility of dart guns and bladed weapons such as the shuriken ten-fold.
  24. I, personally, do not agree that someone who loves their job would work overtime for reduced pay. I love my job, but I hardly ever work overtime even at double pay; I just have better things to do at home. A Head of Staff filling an empty role is totally cool, provided they are a Head of Staff on that shift. If there were no surgeons on duty, it is the CMO's responsibility to take over that role (providing their training allows them to). There is a noticeable issue with this system in that when there are two head-of-staff characters on shift together, the current head of staff is far more likely to ask the other one to do a specific task over other members of the department: it makes sense, they're another head and thus can be trusted, right? Security in particular has a running issue with players being labelled as valid-hunting and power-gaming, we've recently seen the spike in taser-gloves in security mains for example. Detectives who take Officer slots when they don't get Detective are, in theory, taking on a role they shouldn't have much training for; if a detective is front-lining with officers they're doing something wrong and thus they shouldn't be taking the officer slot, you're once again extremely overqualified for a role with less pay. The same goes for HoS players, but their role is far less likely to be taken and the pay-gap is far more extreme, they also suffer with the issue of explaining their loyalty implant believably, as NT would almost certainly have the implant active on HoS characters if they are working, but it would be considered powergaming to act in such a way.
  25. The mentality for the gear levels of scouts should be more-so a "fall back and regroup" than "stand and fight". They need to require strong coordination to pull off difficult hit-and-run tactics, and should be forced to scatter and flee when outgunned. Their primary role would be to clear hostile fauna and flora from the station and provide light defences to staff on away missions, this is what their gear should be tailored towards. Imagine a cross between Colonial-Era Explorers and the British Home Guard. Equipped to hold their ground against a greater foe and keep civilians safe, be that out in the abandoned ruins of a derelict Sol Cruiser, in the ash-covered caverns outside the mining airlocks, or the halls of command. The scouts would be the minutemen of the Aurora, a fast acting defence force to repel attacks at a moments notice. In lore, the fact they are contracted by Biesel Gov actually really assists this: the Scouts are the Minutemen, while the TCFL are the main forces. I'd love to see the Scouts designed in this aspect, carrying Legion colours and emblems, perhaps even being a detachment of the force entirely.
