-1 bc you'll play Erin less and that would make me sad. But, in all seriousness... Your RP abilities are... awesome. What is this 7/10 bs? You're at least a 9. You keep consistent characters, you don't powergame, you do fear and pain RP, you're the only one really trying to rile people up on Rev rounds... I would trust you wholeheartedly with a whitelist. For that alone, you have a huge, huge +1 from me. As far as the character... I don't know a ton of Tajaran lore. I... don't know what job is says she'll be in? Did you have an idea or was that left out or am I missing it? She seems good otherwise, I sense the basics of her personality. As far as the story... that's on the lore devs. Seems fine to me.

The ambiance was spot-on. The use of audio and such was so good and I really hope you consider doing something like this again. It didn't seem very obvious about what was going on to those of us in cargo/service sectors, but rarely do events involve us as much as the other departments. That's more of an observation than a complaint, since by nature of the job, sec/med/engineering is going to be much more involved in Weird Shit Happenings. Overall I think a lot of us really enjoyed it, but we didn't have much idea about what exactly was going on. Which, again, happens. Overall it was VERY different and VERY good, and the more you do this, the better they'll get, so I for one am looking forward to more of these.

Yeah I'm not very robust when it comes to combat but disarm is kind of awful right now. It's like there's no point to having a melee weapon, unless there's something I'm missing here. I'm not sure if this is the proper fix but it seems like a good enough start to me.

[Accepted] Trazz's IPC Application
Doxxmedearly replied to Trazz666's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Yeah, those are the details I wanted to see with that. What you had originally was extremely barebones. But also the question is there because it wants to make sure that you understand that you're NOT playing a human. Since you have a whitelist already, I figure you know this, but it never hurts to repeat. Awesome, yeah, it was mostly an idle question, and I'm glad you cleared that up. I didn't think it was nonsensical that he worked with NT, I just want to know what led to his decision. That seems perfectly fair. Mmmm well. Why not. That's kind of a ridiculously low chance but it's fun and not exactly a vital detail so. Awesome. Definitely a solid +1 from me now. -
Wayyyy better! I still would like to know why she stayed on this station in particular given her fear of synths (I assume it's because of how cutting edge it is, that her curiosity outweighs her fear? If so, that's really solid). You took time and criticism and put them to good use. The reworked app plus your roleplaying skills leave me with a solid +1 for this app. Good luck!

I think it's important to understand that having a character with a typical life is not exactly a bad thing, and that's not our criticism at all. Not everyone has to experience horrific, life-altering tragedies. What we're looking for is more detail. Details like answering the questions Owened posed just tells us that you put thought into this character, understand them enough to play them, and understand what a Skrell's life would be like. I don't care if your character is just a lifetime scientist who had a stable life or a person who experiences hundreds of years of horrible traumas, tragedies, etc. And most people don't. What's important to us is that your character has depth through details. (And when writing them, you might discover some things you didn't know about her!) Depth is what makes characters interesting, not past events. Take some time and think about the details, then edit them in. Key point in bold. I know you are capable of making well-rounded characters, now just prove it to everyone else reading the app.

Nope. You can buy 100 credits with 1000 points, not 100. I'll vouch for your RP ability. Zaun and Uttaz are both really good characters. You've definitely shown with Uttaz that you're capable of performing to whitelist standards. I'll echo tbear's thoughts on the "differences" question: I'm not... such a fan of the way they got to the station. Maybe more details would clear it up. Right now it assumes they literally just collided with the station? Maybe clear up the retrieval? Did telesci beam them aboard? Right now it just seems... very handwavey. Buying freedom with the mats on it? Fine, maybe they clung to an ore crate or had a vest full of bags. It's fine, I'll buy it, especially with your followup justification. Why did they stay on the Aurora, then, if they bought freedom? It's a tentative +1 from me because I know you can meet the whitelist standards and are good at RP. I would submit it more confidently with some more of the backstory being fleshed out and a better answer to the "differences" question. -
Okay! Cool to see you applying for a race whitelist. Always happy to see you directly asking for constructive criticism, too. You took your head whitelist critique in good stride, and that speaks a lot about your maturity as a player. Overall, I love Melodic's RP. She does a very good job with consistent and fun characters, and definitely knows her stuff with the game. Mae is one of my favorites, either hanging out with Wynter, or teaching Rafia how to do engineering stuff. Normally I'd be extremely happy to vouch for you and +1 your app based on how well I know you can RP. There's one concern, though, and that's with the type of RP you do. Aiiko, Kara, and TER (and maybe even Koneko) are all very upbeat characters. You're great at playing childish wonder, fun curiosity, spontaneity, and chipper attitudes, all while maintaining work professionalism and getting things done. This is far, far from a bad thing. It's great, and a joy to interact with! But this type of RP doesn't exactly fit Skrell characters. I don't know that I've seen you play a more serious, logic-oriented character. I think you could, but at the same time I'm a little skeptical just because I haven't witnessed it. I'm not 100% up on Skrell lore, so I don't have any hard criticisms on the app itself. I'd like to see you expand on your answers about what makes Skrell different than humans. As well, the backstory seems very... bare-bones to me. Maybe because I overwrite, maybe not. I don't really get a feeling for the character itself; I'd like to know a bit more about her personality, and see you show us you know details about Skrell lore/characters through it. So far all I know is that she's curious about anomalies and dislikes synthetics (which is what is expected of most Skrell). I don't see much of what makes her unique as an individual; it doesn't have to be anything extreme, just a more detailed-out personality. There's nothing wrong with "Lived a normal life, went to school, no horrible tragedies" as a story, but coupled with my earlier paragraphs, I'd like to see you express that you understand Skrell as much as I think you do. (Edit: Owened in the post below raises the really key details that I would like to see.) Overall, as the app stands, I'm not offering a +/- 1 yet. It feels incomplete to me, which is a shame because I know you're a very capable RPer.

I think this is the best approach. More options for character creation are always welcome.
-
Do you mean the spikes in the "Facial" menu? There are already zero options for female Unathi here besides "Shaved," so unless I'm mistaken, this is already limited. I see JB's points and definitely can agree, but also this is a pretty subtle change, and I'm positive like 80% of the people who speak before shift-clicking will still confuse the genders of weird lizard aliens. I think a subtle shift in male faces is a neat move.

Lonecompany's Head of Staff Application
Doxxmedearly replied to Lonecompany's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Always felt Wolfe was a good character, and now that I've played security a few times, I'm confident in that assessment. ICly, it makes sense for Wolfe to earn this promotion. OOCly, you absolutely possess the RP standards expected of a Head Whitelist. I have no trouble offering my support for this application. +1 -
The character has a good narrative and story, and I think he will be an interesting addition to the Aurora. I'm not... 100% sure his brother would have been cast out for his actions, but this doesn't have much to do with Hiwozir. You've selected the correct surname for the character, and I like that he didn't just immediately convert. It's believable. His story showcases Unathi honor and spiritualism, and the importance of both. It seems you have a firm grasp on Unathi lore, and have incorporated the recent news articles and lore updates about the Akhanzi. Kaed should definitely weigh in here, since the Akhanzi is his creation, but overall it seems you have a good grasp on them. Your RP is pretty solid, as well. I don't doubt you'll be able to uphold the standards of an Unathi whitelist. +1 from me.

[Withdrawn] Burger's Developer Application
Doxxmedearly replied to BurgerBB's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Burger's work and dedication to improvements speaks for his skills, and I think this is an excellent step for him. I can't say I love his attitude a lot of the time, but it's a small personal gripe. Nothing that gets in my way of supporting this. +1 Edit 7/18 Nope, no way. Conduct has gone from "I don't like his attitude" to "Totally unacceptable." -1 -
I'll say it first before anyone else says this in a very rude way. It was implemented for a short time about a month ago, caused many issues, was met with criticism that lingers to this day, and was overall a much-hated mechanic that was quickly binned. You won't see this happen again. It's a subject that I understand you brought up in good faith, without knowing it was tried, but trust me when I say you do not want this discussion to happen a second time.
-
Don't see a reason for not including this. It's kind of weird to have to do such a roundabout thing regardless. It's definitely weird to see from a non-sec perspective that they have to spam flashes or do weird drags. Always wondered if there was another option, and now it seems there might be. +1 for sure.

[Accepted] Cairath's IPC Application
Doxxmedearly replied to Cairath's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I've seen Hime around, but haven't interacted enough to know your RP abilities. I'll just look at the app itself. That said, it's a solid app. Your answers to the questions indicate you know enough about IPCs to play them differently from both humans and stationbounds, with just the right amount of personality. Though, speaking of personality, I wish the backstory had a bit more about Rayne's, such as how she handled problems, interacted with coworkers (such as the pilot who named her), etc. I know you said she's friendly and helpful in the "What do you like" section but I'm a bit curious about HOW she displays these traits. It's a small nitpick. Overall this app is solid, and I see no issues. A +1 from me. -

[Accepted] Doggie666's IPC Application
Doxxmedearly replied to Doggie666's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
A really solid app. I'm familiar with Wolf Green, and have known him to be an excellent character that's both fun and realistic. Never seen him break character. 7/10 might be a tad modest. The answers to the questions seem to give an understanding of IPCs, and I have no trouble believing Doggie could play one well. The backstory is really good; I love how Atlas was named! And using him as both labor and a sort of experimental morale-booster is really good and creative. I'm wondering how old Atlas is, because to be free, he'd have to be able to pay off 10x his cost. I'm not 100% sold that working on what is basically a plantation would grant such wages, but that's maybe a small nitpick, since I'm not too well-versed in the 2460 economy. At the end of the day, I can buy it. Overall Atlas is shaped up to be a unique and fun character, and I think that you have the RP abilities to make him an interesting part of the Aurora; looking forward to seeing this character around. A firm +1 from me. -
A complete and utter rework of food: The Concept

If you're willing to put the insane amount of work into this that it requires, hats off to you. This would be an incredible change. -
HELL YES ENTERTAINMENT STAGE! You just wait until I make some compositions for two pianos. = = = This IS good though. I'm tired of having to beg for someone to fetch a piano and then shove it awkwardly in the bar. An actual stage is great. I could finally make my musician character. The table in the lower left is perfect for card games, too. I love a lot of the bar redesign, but don't play enough chef or bartender to know what works best. As for the rest... I think I echo all of the following concerns: (As for Asheram's point 4, I don't see a problem with letting the chefs start with a plant bag.) Small nitpick, but the comfy chairs would be a better fit for those booths at the bottom than the wooden ones. I'm a little sad about the disappearance of a dance floor, as some really good RP moments were had there. It IS very underutilized though, so I understand its removal. One could just as easily dance in front of the stage. Overall, I'm really digging this, though I think feedback from chefs and bartenders is critical.

[Denied] Sjogras's IPC Application
Doxxmedearly replied to Sjogras's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I just want to note for you that this is also on the IPC lore page you agreed you had read: Because it would be incredibly strange to see an engineer be a surgeon on a different shift, and then a security officer, then a scientist, and then a psychologist. That's not how jobs work, that's not how people work, and this helps curb powergaming by not letting any character do any job with total proficiency. It's important to note that you're not limited to playing one character. Want a different job? Make a new character. If you get a whitelist, it's not just for the one character, it's for the species as a whole. You'd be able to make as many IPC characters as there are jobs you're interested in.
