  1. Surprised you don't already have one. I think your RP is incredibly solid; working with Shaner teaching Amadi surgery has been an absolute delight; surgery was RP'd extremely well, and Astor is a memorable character. You've obviously been around a long time, and are adept at playing the game. No doubt you would be a great CMO, and excel at other command. I don't know you as well as most. While I've RP'd with you for maybe 3-4 rounds, I really only learned your OOC handle in the last couple of days, and don't know most of your characters. So, I have some questions. -People are always going to worry about metacliques. Do you feel that you can avoid (or at least, try to be on the lookout for) OOC favoritism as a command member? -What do you think you can do, as a command member, to further the RP of your department and/or the round as a whole? -Command relies on communication and coordination. It's very frustrating when a command member is afk for half an hour, or just doesn't talk in the command channel, and can definitely lead to rounds stalling or getting stale. How do you feel about your ability to communicate? Do you have any ideas about improving department coordination, or what you would do, personally, to encourage this? Overall, I think you're a good player, and I have respect for you. I don't doubt you would be a great Head to learn a department under, so you have the role model part down. Your answers to the app questions are very good. I hope you're working on Resi's last point there; sometimes command can get very dull! But you are in a very influential position and may be integral to a round; while we can't always avoid cryo'ing at these times, it should not be a consistent thing. At this moment, I am leaning very heavily towards a +1. This is a very strong app.
  2. Sei is my favorite paramedic and quite possibly my favorite medical character to see. What catches me most is that Sei will RP when responding to a scene. No "wordlessly inject stuff and run them in." She'll do what paramedics are supposed to: stabilize, and talk to the patient about their symptoms/what happened. She's a delight to talk to in the medical lobby, as well. I think your RP with her is top-notch, and she's a really interesting character. She definitely feels like a fully realized person. So no critiques at this times, just a lot of love. Though if I do think of some constructive criticism, I'll be sure to post it. For now, though, Sei is one of my favorite characters for a reason. You do great with her.
  3. holy fuck that spoiler. Hilariously, it demonstrates knowing lore? Fuckin' hell, Geeves. But also Geeves has proven himself as an excellent roleplayer time and time again, with well-upheld xeno and command whitelists. The lore checks out, glory to the C'thur hive. Having played with him as an engineer, as command, and as other roles, I definitely think Geeves can do the bugs some justice. And his OOC conduct is super; he's a great example to other players, as one wants from whitelistees. Absolute +1
  4. As a current toxins player, I would like the airlock back. I've been doing a lot of fun rp with "cross-department testing" aka "Build me something to explode so I can test its explosive resistance." I would also like it to be two tiles long (like the merchant airlock) for me to drag things out to the range. Also, I've not played on other servers, so I have to ask if this Tachyon array is able to be disabled. I don't care about my e-peen, nor do I want my failures broadcast on common. I understand others will, so just curious if it's able to be toggled. Overall a very strong redesign.
  5. The spirit of the suggestion and many parts of the suggestion are very good, even though I'm 100% over using the word "meme." The main things needed to reduce the tedium, IMO as an engineering player, are: 1) Add the shield room to the surface, as suggested. 2) Remove the need to break in to atmos to get a reliable engine setup for those of us who aren't specialists. 3) Add SOME more random events that aren't "blob," "Powergrid error" (Which should be removed or reworked anyway given the incredible lag it generates) and "vendors shooting me halp." As far as dependence on engineering, I agree it's a big problem without engineers there. It's not like other departments; the whole round basically hinges on it, unlike mining, R&D, medical, etc. I think taking small steps to reduce the roundstart tedium will be a good starting point; all departments have some, of course, but engineering's depends on breaking in to departments (usually) and just dragging things forever. Another thought may be to have a solar unit already wired, to provide a little bit of additional starting energy. I don't know if that's feasible or even impactful. This would be interesting, if possible. Sounds like a tough thing to implement, but I'm code-ignorant.
  6. Really well researched, and way better than the current blanket pay scale we have in place at the moment. If anything, it's a good start. As well, it separates alt titles, and gives a good median pay; we all know most xenos are likely paid less, so now we can say "Ah yeah space janitor gets 1400c, but a guwan probably gets half that." More wiggle room to play with. I'm sure the values will be adjusted as discussion goes on, but I think it is a vast improvement over our current (and honestly lazy) pay entry on the wiki.
  7. Wow. For the most part, these are extremely good answers. This is so good. I love it. I love that going away from her planet was taxing, that her opportunities she found in alien space made her uncomfortable (But you have to do what you can to eat)... it's really one of the most solid takes on an immigration story I've seen. And this explains, to me, the transition from model to reporter. I definitely think her experience in morale work would make her a prime pick for a job that involves putting a positive spin on corporate news. I really like this; it gives me a sense of personality that shows her dramatic flair, while retaining some of her original fear when it came to fighting. I don't know how to feel about it! The ALA isn't exactly pals with the NKA. I want to hear Mofo's input on this. I feel like it CAN be justified, but it's a stretch. I still like that she doesn't dislike both opposing factions equally. Excellent. These answers overall have done so much in telling me about your character, and that you understand how to play them. You did an excellent job, as I expected. Strong +1 from me.
  8. You are one of few people who I trust to do so. The reassurance is good. Sounds good to me! Looking forward to seeing you play him.
  9. Adrae's first alien whitelist, how exciting! It's no secret that I'm a fan of your RP and characters, so you have my support in that aspect. Buuut since this is your first xeno app, I think I owe it to you to look over it closely. Your answers for the "Why do you want to play this race" and "Identify what's different from being human" questions are shorter than I like. My focus is on the latter. It's great that you didn't just list mechanical differences, but it still leaves me lacking confidence that you understand that Tajara aren't just cat-humans. Noting the conflict is good, but I'd like to see you list a little more about them: What are their values, their social dynamics, their views of aliens and their cultures, and other things like that which influence how you might represent one on station. The main one I want you to note is that overall, Tajara are a conservative species. Nenasheva does not necessarily need to 100% fit in the mold, of course, but it is extremely important to keep in mind when it comes to her behavior, and how it might have been (and continue to be) influenced by said culture. The character concept is interesting, and the story has a lot of good merits; being involved without being a fighter, the fear of conscription, the unique job... All very good! Unique and strong character concepts are something I expect from you. There are a few important blanks here that I think should be looked at, though. And I'm really only picking at these to make sure you understand the ideas fully, for when you make other characters. 1) "She left the planet." It makes it sound so easy. Did she get out with refugees? Was it difficult to leave, if she was still technically a part of the army? Where did she go next, and why? 2) To be a corporate reporter, she would need a relevant Bachelor's degree. Nothing in the backstory implies that she has this. Does she meet the education requirements? 3) More New Kingdom cats, nice. What are her views on the PRA and ALA, and how vocal is she about them? How do you feel like it will go when she meets a vocal Tajara from another faction? 4) What are her views on the war, overall? Does she miss home? 5) How does she view Tau Ceti, and aliens in general? Where the app stands right now, I'm neutral. I know you have the RP chops to play damn near any character, but I need to know that you have a grasp on the species before I can hit you with that good, good +1.
  10. Well you begged me for comments and so I shall oblige. I don't have much to say, at this point. You've answered the posed questions thoroughly, I have a good sense for the character, and you demonstrate an understanding of them expected of a whitelistee. As far as RP goes, you know I enjoy your characters. They feel real. They're fleshed out. I don't doubt Virk will be the same. You do an excellent job. If I had any question to pose to you, I think it would be in regards to OOC knowledge seeping in. In short: You're robust, both mechanically and with situational awareness, knowing enough when you can and can't win a fight, and having the reflexes and know-how to win almost any confrontation. This fits Khaled, and some of your other characters. However, Vaurca are much more passive in nature, and especially as a Ka, you're basically not ready for fighting in most, if not all, circumstances. Do you believe you will be able to tone down your reflexes and abilities to fit this character? I feel like too many people use their OOC robustness to make even their meekest and weakest characters able to disarm weapons and do advanced grabs. I want to know how you think you can represent this character when it comes to such things like fear and fighting. In any case, I do believe you deserve a +1, on the merit of your RP abilities, characters, and demonstration of lore knowledge.
  11. You asked for comments, and so comments you shall have. We're both on trial, and I've played as command with your CMO twice. I've also interacted with your captain and HoS while I was non-command, though only briefly. What's good, in my opinion: -You know how command works, mechanically. -You know your department -Your characters are well-developed What needs improvement, in my opinion: -You should try to AFK less. Today you were afk as command for 45 minutes. That can't be happening. I've also seen you afk as HoS for 5-10 minutes during a crisis. -You need to communicate more with command, and when people outside of your department are talking to you. This is something I've noticed as command, and heard people mention. It can be frustrating. I think you have a lot of it down, but your in-game communication does need work IMO. A lot of the round is depending on us to direct things in a timely manner. I'm not saying you always have to be responding to every command member, but half the time i feel like I can't tell if you're SSD/AFK or just not listening.
  12. Would it be possible to make the airlock in toxins (leading to the testing range) two tiles long (Like the merchant airlock)? Sometimes I want to drag things out there for experiments, but anything that won't fit in a locker can't be moved out without just forcing the doors and venting the small room. I'd rather not have to cause atmos alarms to move something out to the range!
  13. From interacting with you and seeing the rest of your conduct, I believe you are sincerely dedicated to improving yourself. I still remain neutral, but I hope this trend continues. You are not a bad player. Good luck!
  14. Still would really like to see this! Bumping for any further comments.
  15. Player-wise, furrycactus is one of the best. He has two alien whitelists and a command whitelist, all of which are upheld very well. He has an extremely good grasp on the general lore of the universe, his OOC conduct is extremely good, his RP is top-notch, and he's a very active and encouraging person. He seems to have a good grasp on IPCs, and the answers to the questions are good. Having them be owned by a rich family indicates you're aware that owning an IPC is not a cheap endeavor, further showcased by the fact that they want Sander to actually contribute and work off their perceived debt. I think you and Sander could do a great job with this. IPCs with a sense of "family" are really interesting, and something I really do want to see explored more by characters. There's life to Sander that makes them unique but not ridiculous. If I had any nitpicks on the story, it's that very handwavey "Oh and now they work for NT." I just made a jump that the retirees worked for NT prior, but maybe that's not that case. Again an EXTREMELY small nitpick. In any case, strong +1 from me.
  16. Quick note: After speaking to other players and having them assure me that captain isn't as scary as it seems, I've added the name and a small blurb of a captain character. I will be mostly sticking with Beatrix until I am comfortable in command, but thought it might be prudent to list this other character.
  17. Hocka is a good lad OOCly and I think very few people have bad things to say about their characters (Vex is the goodest bug). I've had plenty of interaction with them. They know the game, furrycactus vouches for their engineering, and their RP is solid. I don't remember many, if any, issues with their OOC conduct. I think they're a good fit for a command whitelist. Hearty +1
  18. Wow, this has been sitting for three days with no comment? Advertise yourself more! SAS seems to be pretty neat, you have a decent grasp on lore, and you've been around awhile. You already have a whitelist for aliens, so obviously you can be trusted to know what's expected of you. And from where I'm standing, I know Joe Anders as a pretty good character; even if my science department time is short, I've met with him on all sorts of characters. You do a good job! +1 from me.
  19. Rescinding my +1, and will remain neutral. This is due to your OOC conduct after that really bad round with the LRP AI. Yes, the antags were VERY BAD and greytidey. Yes, people salt. Many of us did, to an extent. However, this is not good conduct from someone who is held to a higher standard by being whitelisted. https://i.gyazo.com/c7bf1bece23e38867b9df7b2ae2203fc.png https://i.gyazo.com/c82b128a5730747418b600f4b71d6891.png https://i.gyazo.com/4d3f6db25953a2ee342e0cbfbfd3b4f1.png You need to tone this sort of thing down. Having a whitelist means you're expected to be a bit more responsible than others. You're held to a higher standard, and this does not just mean your IC conduct. Please dial back this behavior. Instead of cussing them out, ahelp the problems. While I respect that you have a grasp of lore, and are willing to accept criticism, please take a look at your OOC conduct. I'm not giving this app a -1 because one instance does not mean it's standard for you, but it makes me too hesitant to support you with a +1.
  20. You're definitely open to criticism and improvement, which does a lot in showing your ability to be responsible as a whitelisted player. You don't need to rewrite the story to include all that! Just answering the questions is good enough, or acknowledging them (as you have); several of them are about how he will interact on the Aurora, so don't feel as though you need to shoehorn it into your character history. You seem to have a grip on the lore and are willing to accept critique and assistance. Don't be afraid to ask the lore team or whitelisted players for any questions: they're all quite friendly. Change my tentative +1 to a supportive +1. I hope to see you continue to improve and enjoy exploring the species.
  21. Either remove it or do what coalf suggests. Either way, it's really hurting the game by existing in its present state. +1
  22. +1, that would rule. Take down those republic flags!
  23. Faith Wilkerson is a pretty decent character. I was ERT once for a rev round in which she surrendered, providing some good RP about wanting to go home to her son, apologizing to the HoS, etc. Very well played. On the other hand, I did witness some pretty concerning behavior about her trying to arrest a monkey at departures for the OOC laughs. It was pretty LRP move-wise, though I'm willing to believe this is an isolated incident. The battle was, indeed, more descriptive than probably necessary, but hey, better than having a barebones app. I am concerned about this "machine of war" combined with a security position. I don't want to see a single security officer opening fire wordlessly on heavily armed troops with his pistol. So I want to ask you a few questions I'd like honest answers to. How will he operate as security? How will his military attitude affect how he interacts with crew and hostiles? What will be his reactions to fear and fear-rp in general, such as being alone with 4 mercs pointing guns at him? I like the war depression/PTSD. How much will this affect him? And, lore-wise, how did he feel about the PRA's prejudice and scapegoating of Zhan after the assassination of Hadii? Did it conflict him? Did he buy into it? Did he experience prejudice while enlisted? And how does this affect his views of other Tajara? Finally, he will meet ALA and NKA supporters on the Aurora, some of who are quite outspoken. How will he handle this? There aren't any right or wrong answers, and I am not a lore dev, so you don't need to address them. However I feel like this will really improve your sense of the character, so I'm curious! For now, a tentative +1, based on your RP thus far.
  24. Mm, yep, I was a witness for that IR and involved during the round in which is happened. That is not something I'm looking to repeat, and honestly, I feel like communication by command staff has been pretty lacking in most rounds. It was meant to show a bit more of her attitude and how she'll speak. It's sort of like... cockiness mixed with care. "My" workers: "My" as in a reminder that they work under her (Cocky), as well as "my" as in "the crew is under my care." While HoP is the direct supervisor of the civilian department, I haven't forgotten that they serve all employees. HR isn't limited to service and supply. I definitely do not plan to segregate departments further from one another, as that is the last thing that the game needs. While the nature of being closer to the civilian department may lend itself to some small IC favoritism due to familiarity (Leniency, extra breaks, small rewards), my goal as command would not be to place the importance of one department over another, and I'm aware of my OOC responsibility to not cause even more issues between communication and cooperation. Hopefully this addresses the concern?
  25. That's a good display of honesty and maturity. I hope I see you continue on this path of growth. If you decide to apply again in the future, after taking all these things into account as you say you are going to and making more noticeable improvements, I will be happy to vouch for you getting a trial. Sounds like you're still a few months and a long path out, but I believe you have the ability to do so. Take things easy, don't rush, and just keep doing better. See you on the server.
