Rest assured that you are incorrect, and your perspective is severely distorted if you believe the PR was approved because staff “think they’re more important than you”. Regardless, the purpose of this thread is to discuss the changes as they stand in a neutral manner free of dogma and personal attacks, not to entertain paranoid delusions of staff conspiracy - you are free to do so on your own time. Previous and future instances of this will be pruned. If you have a problem with the way staff have handled this PR or thread you are free to file a staff complaint - this thread is purely for discussing the changes themselves.

There is a rather distinct difference between ignored and declined. The reasons for cloak removal have been presented and expounded in this thread and the PR and have been deliberated upon for the months the PR has been open. It is both disingenuous and a little bit childish to claim that your input has been ignored simply because we disagreed.

Increase the chance for the tau ceti legion to spawn
LordFowl replied to Alberyk's topic in Discontinued Projects
A compromise of 50/50 already exists. Even with this compromise I encourage people to think of a mechanic more interesting and less arbitrary than simple random chance. -
Increase the chance for the tau ceti legion to spawn
LordFowl replied to Alberyk's topic in Discontinued Projects
This PR makes the ERT far too rare. The TCFL aren't even at a well-developed functional enough state to be doing it half the time, much less three quarters of the time. Making the ERT so rare should have more meaningful mechanics behind it than a mere flip of the coin with bias towards the TCFL. -
I am interested to know why this is labelled as a request to "revert"? I am fairly certain this has been a thing since the Baymerge, since even before the Baymerge. Since forever, in fact.

I never said I did anything in order slow the clone factory, not even in that image of yours. In fact, I’ve explicitly said multiple times quite clearly (including just right up there above) that any impact on cloning was unintended. So when people persist in saying that traumas were a wilful tactical nuke to Saudi Clonia how can I do anything else but consider such a statement to be like the gaseous emissions of a lame and impotent donkey borne on a diet of potent (yet rich in protein and vitamins) beans?

Really.

Re; the PR sytic linked, it is still on my to-do list, however I delayed it for sometime in order to make progress for map generation in the NBT, which now having done I intend to return to it (hence why I re-opened it). All I have to do so far is fix merge errors and test it. Re; Cloning and brain traumas. Originally I intended brain traumas to result only from brain damage, and oxyloss would be the main source of brain damage. Traumas being more commonly associated with cloning is due to me misunderestimating the amount of brain damage cloning causes, hence why I supported Alberyk's PR that Sytic also linked. I am, perhaps unsurprisingly, opposed to removing brain traumas, and do not think that cloning will ever be removed. I find any claims that brain traumas were designed as tactical nerf to cloning to be little more than an impolite joke, as if made by an unsuccessful street clown with a minor liquor problem. Voting for dismissal on these basiises.

Implemented in https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/5967 with sprites that Lohikar and Coalf and Torrentia(?) had been working on in aeons past.

You'll forgive me if I don't see where I "reneged" on my agreement in your example.

No. Voting for dismissal.

If you believe there is a bug or issue, use the github, not the suggestions board. Binning.

Mechs will never be useful while RIGs exist in their current state. They’re obsolete.

It's more than an experiment. Is nobody going to answer the question of "where the fuck does the HoS" fit in all of this? Considering this is essentially axing security as a department entirely, I suppose it behooves us to then ask where the CSI and FT are going also, as well as the warden and the brig. As to the idea of retaining the brig and creating two brig officers, I hope that the realization of that being idiotic is accomplished once you see that it essentially means we have at least 6 security officers running around (one in each department, medical, engineering, cargo, science, two brig officers) in addition to the non officer brig staff who currently float around in the abyss now that we've pulled a krystalnacht and sent the officers on their great exodus.

Black slime gel also takes effort to make.

I re-iterate my point made on the PR: "Currently the assumption is that every species gets a unique language. Things like "Well, the Skrell and humans are so buddy buddy, doesn't it make sense that Skrell should be able to speak Sol Common" falls apart entirely when you realize the same justification can be made quite easily for any species to speak Sol Common, or any other non-biologically restricted language. Until the loredevs either decide that every species should be able to speak every language I don't see this as an equitable change. Additionally, doesn't this just further the idea that Skrell are just humans, but slightly better?" The same justification for a Skrell knowing Sol Common can be pretty much made for any species to know any language. Languages aren't some dark unknowable art. If we give Skrell Sol Common we're opening a rather hefty can of worms that previously we kept shut with the somewhat arbitrary but fair ruling that each species gets their own unique language.

[+1 dismissal]Curtailing IPC Authority
LordFowl replied to Kaed's topic in Accepted/Implemented Policy
Grandfathering is not a feasible process - there is no real effective way to verify that except /possibly/ by a remarkably in-depth database scan that really isn’t worth the effort. -
Doing what? Neither of those examples match the two issues stated - overbearing/overdramatic critique or use of slurs, nor even really the general catchall of “being a dick”. The first is exasperation at reading a comment that was firmly opposed to something that was never proposed in the first place, the second is a completed untargeted unoffensive observation that most people seemed to agree with me on.

I don’t really know what PoZe is talking about. Implementing ricochet into a specific type of bullet is both possible and not even that difficult. I recall attempting something similar to this once and the only obstacle I ran into was the tricky ricochet math. Implementing ricochet itself was fairly simple.

Revert The Dangers of Teleportation #5651
LordFowl replied to Scheveningen's topic in Discontinued Projects
A GPS is not destroyed when it is teleported into a wall.
