BYOND Key: A_Big_Bear Character Names: Eric Bayer, Lachlan Wallace, Sarah Nievan, Mark Hundsley, Gabe Sinclaire, John Grey(Deleted), Jetsam Species you are applying to play: Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Charcoal Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: The Tajara have been a race that drew me from the moment I entered this server, with a unique approach to the typical ‘cat-person’ and a very deep lore-set to accommodate them. Their story as a people being that of war-torn people, split between ideology, time, and even by the color of their fur, is without a doubt my favourite of all the whitelisted species. With a such a vast world and three well detailed factions, the Tajara are a treasure trove for characters that can be diversified across the station which is something I very much hope to do in time. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Something that is made very clear, is that at their very core, they are not human. Uncomfortably hot in our own normal ‘room temperature’, their bodies are adapted for a completely different environment and the evolutionary path their species took is very apparent. Covered in fur, and resting on digitigrade feet, the Tajara stand very different, using their tails for balance. Nimble and lithe, with clawed fingers and sharp fangs, Tajara have strong resemblances to the predatory ancestors lingering in even their eyes which see in the dark where others cannot. But their differences do not stop at only the physical. Their expressions, behaviors, and mannerisms are very alien to that of a human. For instance, their approaches to relationship and contact would seem prudish and almost silly to the Biesellian’s eye. Their very approach to speech maintaining a third person’s reference to themselves except around those they trust the most, and then quite obviously the rolling of their R’s. Along with the base differences with every Tajaran, there can be a plethora more confusing an outsider depending on the region they come from and the side they’ve chosen or the lack thereof as others remain neutral or ever-changing nomads on such a war-torn planet. With such a diverse mold, it can be quite easy to create very contrasting Tajaran that bewilder an outsider’s take on them. Character Name: Yahir Na’Zirah Please provide a short backstory for this character: Born on 11/26/2439 in a small village just west, outside of Mal’Jor to a family of Zhan-Khazan farmers, with two older brothers, Brahim and Dastgir. Yahir was exposed to the aftermath of war from the start with a family that was no stranger to the conflicts that had brewed around the area during the First Revolution. The people were tired, hungry, and lived in conditions that was almost considered squalor. Yet, despite it all, they were close knit, taking heart in each other and the bonds of family and the community around them as the ground tilled harder and harder under the ever heavier yoke of the government in the years post the First revolution and the combat that had been seen during the struggle for Mal’Jor’s defenses. However, just as soon as the community had begun to rebuild, war broke out again once more across the lands only months before Yahir’s twelfth birthday. With the coming of war, the eldest of his brothers Brahim, set out to join what would become the Adhomai Liberation Army. They received letters from him over the course of three years with but a few short trips to home as they heard of his exploits. Grandiose and clearly exaggerated, they left an impression on Yahir as he came of age. With pride he watched his brother set off. He did not return. Remaining to tend the farm, his second brother Dastgir, departed to join the front with the ALA as his brother before him. In the years since, Dastgir had grown quiet, confusing Yahir. However, in 2459, Dastgir returned to their village to stay and so Yahir took up his brother’s rifle leaving the village behind with his parent’s blessings to join the ALA. Filled with images of glory and great conquest left by his eldest brother, Yahir was not prepared for the horrors of war that he would face there, learning quickly war was but a gilded slaughter. Sticking to guerrilla tactics Yahir watched his handiwork firsthand, leaving images that haunt him even to this day. On third of February, the haunted screams broke Yahir, turning him to abandon his post of his troop’s watch camp, slipping away into the shadows during his watch. It was to his horror that he learned said abandonment cost them all as they were overrun silently during the night of the absent guard. ((This was not a slow change of mind that led up to this, but I’d rather not give away all the key details of the character, feel free to DM for specifics!)) Knowing he could not turn home, he cried out to Ma'ta'ke, feeling only rejection. And so Yahir turned to the smugglers in Creves port, fleeing before his cowardice could be truly unraveled, feeling it better the thought he too had perished in battle like his brother before him. Taking a great debt to secure passage, he set his sights on the corporation he had heard of, NanoTrasen in hopes for a new life, far away from the war with a chance for a better beginning from the humble origins of mining. Speaking with the contractors, Yahir arranged a contract to begin a career in mining off the promise of hard work and a stable, if extremely meager, source of income. Signing on the dotted line, he shipped out with but the clothes on his back to begin his certification courses… What do you like about this character? Yahir is a character I’ve been working on for a while, piecing him to the lore as I read it, expanding on him with each turn. There’s honestly a lot more I’d like to add to the backstory but to keep it from being a text well it’s easier to go into it here. The goal for him is not to be the edgy thousand-yard stare war veteran, but rather, a man running from his past and bad decisions while clinging to hope that there is something better for him in all of this. A musician who cannot play despite trying his best to learn and an isolationist yearning to replace the void left by self-exiling from his community, the character is an emotional roller coaster. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 6/10 Notes: I’d like to ask you judge my app on the app itself, the character proposed, and the knowledge base exhibited. Not my previous characters or OOC interactions with myself good and bad. I’m currently hoping to replace my old main, Bayer with a new long-term character and this concept is honestly one I’m very hopeful for. To be clear, yes I know there are many who not a fan of John Grey and many who are. I’m not looking for memes in this whitelist nor jokes to be played into my RP, but rather, a character I can really invest in and connect with again. Thank you.

A lock down is a death sentence and is too easy to abuse. The nerf on their hp and cutter is a step in the right direction however.

I'm always a fan of balance, don't remove. My fear with this (and im not the only one) is it will make magged drones resort to lethal responses faster. However, very little HP will make them think twice before engaging so its definitely worth seeing how it does!

Bear replied to Bear's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Thank you for the feed back. That is the hope with whitelisting here is to get away from memes and move into more serious and established characters. As for the power game, I one hundred percent get that. Its something ive been actively trying to scale back and be more aware of recently. Always feel free dm me with a "dat bad" if you have feedback for me. Always looking to improve ^^ -

You're right, insult wasn't the exact fit. Being unnecessarily demeaning and rude however, is. Again, constructive criticism is a far more useful approach. Either way, your feedback was taken, so thank you. -

In the future I'd prefer constructive criticism, please and thank you, insults aren't really necessary. But I will take your criticism regardless. I'm happy to expand on the background. As for Xenobotany and Xenobiology I'd suggest you referesh on the Wikipedia as this is addressed in the first sentence of job restrictions. As for choosing the Xion chasis, the original character in mind was a baseline shell. Aesthetically I prefer them. However, noting that Xion industries frame comes from a company that produces agricultural equipment, I wanted to give love to a chassis I rarely see utilized. As for the other two who've posted thank you for the feedback. I'll be beefing up the background and adding more about the character itself. Please let me know if there's more you'd like to see! -
BYOND Key: A_big_bear Character Names: Eric Bayer, Lachlan Wallace, Sarah Nievan, Mark Hundsley, Gabe Sinclaire, John Grey, Jetsam Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character: IPC, N/A. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I personally find the synthetic lore extremely interesting. This a race I have wanted to play for some time, however, have been waiting to ensure my synthetic roleplay would be on par and so I began in "androids" and "AI" as beginner synthetic intelligence characters. I really enjoy the take on machine learning in this universe and the diversity in it with varying levels of complexity. The concept of Artificial Intelligence existing on many levels of operation and complexity is particularly fun and engaging. With the current state of the galaxy plus the past events Glorsh and Crew leading up to current events, playing an IPC truly coming into it's own and exploring it's own level of sentience entices me! Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: To be brief, they are machines. Some are very complex, others have less personality than a toaster, but they are always a machine. Every action is a cold and calculated movement, while some models are very capable of understanding emotion and even emulating it, the emulation is just that: a complex layer of algorithms calculating how the IPC should emulate said emotion. That and metal bits with the inability to feel the environment around then, rather, relying on a complex network of sensory equipment in their chassi with a completely different set of needs like an energy source and proper environment cooling to survive. Expanding on that in itself, there are a vast number of chassis types and variations within these types alone, from the Hulking G2 to the ever diverse baseline IPC, this 'race' in my opinion is of the most diverse 'races' out there by it's lack of biologic origins and it's evolution being directly influenced by everything around it. Character Name: OAIMA Please provide a short backstory for this character: The Organic Agricultural Intelligent Machine Analyzer was manufactured by the Xion Manufacturing Group in 2460 for biological and botanical research, development, analysis and harvest. Purchased by NanoTrasen in the same year, the OAIMA unit was issued to the NSS Apus performing to specification. Early in 2461, OAIMA was transferred to the NSS Aurora for continued Xenobotany and Xenobiology research especially with the xenofauna, slimes. Polite, concise, and effective, OAIMA is a very task oriented IPC, rated by the manufacturer's as top performing in agricultural tasks and advancement. Consumer reviews note its top notch customer service remarking 'It is capable of euthanizing and harvesting experimental livestock at horrifying rates' all while maintaining a pleasant disposition. However, having extreme difficulty in interacting with coworkers aboard the NSS Apus, OAIMA has become far more reserved than it's initial day of operation after having received borderline violent reactions and heavy discrimination despite being what it interprets as pleasant. Reviewing records note poor peer feedback despite the IPC performing to specification upon its yearly review. While being a heavily work oriented model, OAIMA also prefers to study the interactions between organic creatures as well as their relation to the environment around them. Observing wildlife as a hobby, the IPC is constantly learning through extranet sources and documentaries hoping one day to move planet side and observe creatures of interest within their own natural habitat. While delighting in simplistic social hierarchies of the various lifeforms documented across the systems, OAIMA struggles with more advanced social constructs such as the society it lives finding it utterly irrational and erratic. It is however, keenly aware of the current events happening around it and the conflict occurring between IPCs and Organics. Not keen to violence, it finds itself torn between the idealistic goals of the SLF and the methods employed by said organization, while resenting the iron thumb of the Ceres' Lance. Resolved to interact and 'befriend' more organic individuals, OAIMA hopes to build a better consensus on what is 'right and wrong' while gaining a better understanding of the social dynamics in play. Despite the contest of rights to IPCs in Tau Ceti currently happening, the thought of attaining freedom is still and unknown factor to OAIMA, unsure if pursuing such a course is even a wise idea having found. Preferring a state of constant, it has come to accept its ownership and usage by NanoTrasen, deeming maintaining the current position as the most logical and long term beneficial route. It did, however, find the transfer a favorable outcome to it's life on the Apus. Taking what knowledge it had gathered interacting with coworkers and other crew, it deemed that it's chances of success with positive interaction and greater understanding would be far more likely upon the NSS Aurora. What do you like about this character? The concept of an IPC focused on advancement of agricultural sciences is a fun one for me. A machine that seeks to understand organic composition through reverse engineering Humans. I personally think it could help create a lot of fun roleplay instances in and out of the science department. It's constant struggle to understand the world around it while improve it's relations with said poor understanding will be a fun and challenging character to roleplay. While simplistic in nature, I personally think it's set up to become a diverse and interesting character with little restricting it and letting RP shape it. My hope is to play this character in reaction to it's environment and allow 'cause' to 'effect' the development of the IPC, no matter the direction it takes. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 7/10 Notes This IPC is planned to be a Xion Industrial Frame built off an assembly line. Designed to be a yes man, the IPC is task oriented and logically pursues set goals while struggling with personality and emotion comprehension. Being from an assembly production, the character isn't designed to be a unique or super individualistic, rather following its programming to complete its job requirements to the best of its ability for its owner. Further note: I found the idea of the model originating from a company that manufactures agricultural based frames, along with other things, a neat concept. The original, however, was a baseline chassis. If that is a better fit, I am more than willing to revert to the original chassis.

Reporting Personnel: Lachlan Wallace Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Shaft Miner Game ID: b2F-b7og Personnel Involved: (Name, Job Title: Offender/Witness/Other) - -Lachlan Wallace, Shaft Miner, Primary Witness -Qu Shin, Engine Technician, Victim -Malik Hejaz, Xenoarcheologist, Offender -Lena Hegarty, Cargo Technician?, Primary Witness -Jesse Armstrong, Head of Security, Witness -Cera Rivers, Captain, Witness -Lex Harkson, Warden, Witness -Kaden Rivers, Officer, Witness -Oliver Roadman, Chief Engineer, Witness - Time of Incident: (If unable to provide, leave blank) Real Time: Location of Incident: Main hall next to the kitchen. Nature of Incident: [ ] - Workplace Hazard [ ] - Accident/Injury [ ] - Destruction of Property [ ] - Neglect of Duty [x] - Harassment [x] - Assault [x] - Misconduct [ ] - Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: There was a fight instigated between Qu Shin and Malik Hejaz by insults being thrown on both sides. Qu Shin antagonized Malik Hejaz on their recent suspension. To which, and no I am not joking, Malik Hejaz walked up, punched Qu Shin in the face, knocking her down, and began to continuously stomp on Qu Shin's skull with reinforced work boots in an attempt to kill the Engine Technician. I had to physically grab, Malik Hejaz and throw him off her, during which case he continued to strike her, and continue to block his path as he wanted to continue his assault. The skrell in question was found to have such head trauma on scene the EMT was able to identify skull fractures before taking them to the medical bay, you could actually hear the fracturing of bone while he was attacking her. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: None available at this time. Actions taken: The security team arrested Malik Hejaz and I believe he was charged with attempted murder while being kept held until transfer. Additional Notes: I hope he was turned over the Republic of Biesel for his crimes. I cannot in good faith say I feel confident in working with an individual capable of attempting to murder a fellow coworker over words.

Reporting Personnel: John Grey Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Assistant Game ID: b2D-cbkn Personnel Involved: (Name, Job Title: Offender/Witness/Other) -Kaden Rivers, Officer: Offender -Cecilia Earnest, Crime Scene Investigator: Other: Witness -Kwori-Shin Wuqzu, Detective: Witness -Qu Shin, Engine Technician: Other - Time of Incident: Approximately 2115 Real Time: Approximately 0400 GMT 8/8/2019 Location of Incident: The Holodeck, The Brig Nature of Incident: [x] - Workplace Hazard [x] - Accident/Injury [ ] - Destruction of Property [x] - Neglect of Duty [ ] - Harassment [ ] - Assault [x] - Misconduct [ ] - Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: Qu Shin wanted to fight myself in the holodeck after a shift poor interaction between myself and her. Instead of engaging in hand to hand with her, I turned the gravity on and off. Qu Shin, charged out of the holodeck and attempted to punch me and then push me over several times as I backed away before hitting her in the hand with my toolbox. I swiped her hand away with said toolbox once, not even hard enough to draw blood or leave a bruise and then backed away. The CSI witnessing this event intervened with a flash to myself, and I am assuming Qu Shin but I cannot be sure as I was blinded. I continued to back away towards medical as I had intended from the start. The Skrell then used their telepathy to forcefully enter my mind, right as officer Kaden Rivers arrived. I was arrested first, without question and without a warrant on the testimony of a CSI officer. I stated that I defended myself once with the toolbox to the officer as they arrived, no official statement was made or recorded and they proceeded to arrest myself. After being taken to the brig. I was processed without question or extra statements or official documentation. The officer then left me locked in the processing cell as the station warned of an incoming radiation storm and then decided to take me into the tunnels. After feeling sick for a moderate amount of time I had to request medical over common channels myself for the officer to then silently move me to medical with no apology or explanation. After my time was served, I was learned my assailant was offered a fine instead of serving time. I was given above the minimal sentence and told I was not defending myself by using the tool in my hand at the time to swipe away her hand. Said toolbox was collected after my processing with no blood or visible markings on it. Both the witnessing CSI and Detective agreed it was self defense. The scuffle with the skrell and mental trauma she caused is not the priority of this IR. The negligent behavior and denial of rights by officer Kaden. Is. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: There was only a chief engineer at the time. They observed briefly but did not get involved. No IAA available. Actions taken: The detective said he would look into this. He asked several questions and informed me that using a blunt object, even though it was to a non-critical area (her hand) and only once as I backed away. without any other engagement. Additional Notes: Despite the fact several other members of the Security department agreeing with it being self defense. The officer refused to listen. I want this stricken from my record. Secondly, I believe this arrest and jailing to be unlawful.

[Accepted] Nantei Command Whitelist

A fat +1 from me. A player who knows their stuff. I think she'd make a wonderful HoS and HoP.. or whatever command role they branch into. Calm, collected, and knows how to defuse a situation. Seen them educate new players and guide them down proper steps. Able to offer constructive criticism, feed back, and peer to peer review. A drive for story and RP. I'd love to see them start taking command -
Character Complaint - Casey Mercer - Naelynn
Bear replied to Mogelix's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
The other posts were quite... developed so Ill keep mine short. Being in several of these rounds I'm going to have to fundamentally disagree with this post. Yes, Naelynn rarely has a gimmick as mercer. But a creative and unique gimmick is not a requirement. Just bc the rp isnt focused with sec doesnt mean it isnt happening. I.e. Mercer holding hostages for favors and cutting them lose before security js ever even called. Or their help in broken departments to keep the station going. Mercer is an enabler. She slows security and helps other antags which in my experience has been invaluable in keeping rp going. She enables players just as much when they bother to try and interact. Lastly. Naelynn may know the code. Trust me she doesnt power game. 9/10 times youll catch her in the cap's EVA. Literally half the time its simply a sec suit recycled and she runs around with antique laser despite knowing much.. much better weaponry. She doesnt murderbone. Having been sec droves of times as shes antagging, lethals fly when you play the hero agaisnt her. Risk of playing sec. Considering she is quite the powerful player, charging her alone is a bad idea. Utilize your team. If theyre being too dumb. Wait. Better to wait and live then charge and die. That is my experience with the player. Not everyone's style of rp is meant to mesh with our own. I.e. I rarely enjoy peace gimmicks. A lot of people do. And that is okay! -
I love the reps. But honestly I feel like it should be added alongside the IAA. Not in replacement.

My antag battle sister herself. A wonderful RP'r who doesnt give herself enough credit for creative gimmicks and interaction between players of all departments alike. Always that silent drone that *somehow* managed to set up the engine by itself. She has a diverse roster of characters who are always a plus to rp with and drive the round forward from whatever niche of the roster they are on. She knows her stuff for just about every department and is a wonderful teacher for those who dont. (I owe a large portion of my learnings to her). An easy +1 -

Ah Cnaym, A player who I would most undoubtable trust to take on the big boy mod roll. Slow to anger, and level headed. Cnaym has a diverse roster of character's whos interactions always from my perspective serve to forward the round and RP in a fun and creative manner. While we may not always see eye to eye on every topic, Cnaym has the ability to calmly and logically state his point as well as listen to the opposing side and consider their viewpoint. Has a pretty clear understanding the rules and fact checks himself frequently before speaking. A very easy +1. Good luck Cnaym -

Im not gunna lie. When I saw 13 days I laughed. But the above statements say it all. +1 from me -
As the warden that round and considering security and sec comms keeps getting brought up. There was never any true intent to to arrest Samara Watson. Copper went to keep the peace as far as I'm aware and there were certainly no warrants in the making. It was literally just the atmos pumps. That being said. Suggesting the AI is malf is without a doubt a big no-no for people who do not work with AI as malf is something that is supposed to be nigh impossible... as far as we normal employees are concerned. Fixating on the locker thing really seems a bit overkill. We all have thrown something and stormed off to a safe space when upset. Samara is a but... eccentric, tbh this seems fitting for the char. Perhaps its time a middle ground is established with positive feedback and criticism so both sides can be heard and a proper direction forward can be given. If the issue truly was just calling the AI malf and welding into a locker, reminders not to go suggesting such things and that instead of using a locker, try escaping into the maints for your char to have a breather from stress. Also try to remember the AI is bound to it's laws it cannot break them any more than we can stop breathing. Be patient with them. On the flip side, as the AI. Perhaps a more gentle approach could be used when dealing with an overwhelmed crewmember. I wasn't viewing your direct and engineering channel interactions. A lot of characters like Samara do not respond well to authoritarian synthetic interactions. Try to reason with them, use your holoimage and have a face to face, be patient with them. That being said, I understand your interpretation of your laws and why you denied access, to be clear. All in all most of this seemed IC. A week ban, after talking it down from a perma seems a bit heavy handed on a player whos been making strides to improve for months. But that's just my opinion on this as I was tagged, I don't know what goes on behind the admin curtain. So take it as such.
