Msizi Djikstra's Stellar Robes + Symbolic Belt
Seeli replied to Happy_Fox's topic in Completed Items
I love these items, they look incredible and I like what they add to her character. +1 for these wonderful, spirit-protecting items! -
One thing that people seem to have forgotten here is that when you're in pain crit, unconscious on the ground, there is no RP. You can't hear anything, can see very little, you're a motionless interactionless pre-corpse. It is actually worse than being dead, because sometimes it can last just as long as respawn would and you do even less in that time than a ghost. I am all for throat slitting hostages to punish failed negotiations, or a headshot AT POINT BLANK being very bad news. But increasing Halos to put people into crit more often? No thank you. Please, no thank you. That miner whose corpse was thrown at the elevator where cargo was fleeing? That was Bo Hynes and I loved that round, I loved the ninja and other antags, and the ERT who saved him in the end. They were great. But pain crit meant that Bo kept losing consciousness before he could confess, it interrupted our rp over and over, so the ninja had no choice but to execute the very tortured Bo and throw his body at cargo. Great thing about that was that Bo was cloned and immediately kidnapped by the borgs to be tortured all over again. So yay cloning! ❤️(Please don't remove cloning too) I would much rather be conscious and RP pain, RP getting shot or even RP being unconscious.

[Accepted] A_Big_Bear - CCIA Application
Seeli replied to Bear's topic in Moderator Applications Archives
A great roleplayer, often focused on including others and driving narrative. Bear's a level-headed, friendly guy with a lot of experience at roleplaying and "herding cats" when it comes to leadership stuff. Also, great at helping and teaching others OOC and IC. A solid +1 from me, have my full support. -
All of cargo (except for Yahir who was afk) were in cargo, talking while Prestoff wrote his IR. As far as I am aware, no one in cargo broke the windows of the chapel. When Ephemer arrived and demanded boxing gloves, Khas closed the cargo window and Cazimi dropped the shutters in the same breath. Khas'miera's pAI, Nih-LA, went around to the door and informed the security officer and Ephemer that cargo was closed. Khas kept an eye on her pAI, listening to Ephemer talk to the officer about cargo breaking the chapel windows AND for also refusing service. The head of personnel and the quartermaster were both in cargo, they voiced no problem with closing Cargo (to Ephemer). Khas'miera reminded the officer and Ephemer that the chaplain was already banned by security from sparring, they had seriously injured a member of cargo, and that cargo was now closed to him because of that. From there, I guess they went out to form their "underground" sparring ring, because I remember Timothy Cooper joined a little after that, disappeared for a bit and then was complaining about how being blind sucked. Agreed, it would have been a great antag gimmick, but it was extended, there wasn't supposed to be antags. I was ghosted for the next round after this and they started setting up an "underground ring" (nothing came of that because security found the librarian's lamps in maintenance and brought them back) and sparring dangerously (Ephemer had his skull broken twice). It is not once off behavior. (Round ID for that one, b3B-chuK)

[Accepted] Borya's Command Application
Seeli replied to BoryaTheSlayer's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
+1 - Borya is a fun and responsible player. I think he would do well in command! -
Faith: Khas'miera believes in S'rand'marr, worshiping S'rendarr and Messa, the Twin Gods and Sibling Suns. Some of her family and friends believe that religion is just a trap created by the Njarir, but Khas'miera, her parents, and her siblings still believe in the Sibling Suns, as did her partner's side of the family. Partner's death: Her partner was killed at the end of July on the continent of Harr'masir. He was shot and killed in action fighting against the NKA; 4 times in the chest, once in the abdomen, and twice in the arm. He died quickly. He was brought home for his Virr Henhati. Objectives: Primary objective is to get her children far away from the war and provide a happier, safe life for them. To provide this, she needs a stable job and maintain her work visa. This is why she applied for work with NanoTrasen, using her past work in supply for the Republic's armed forces as qualifications for work with NanoTrasen. For a secondary objective, she wants to study hard and become a quartermaster, which is a better paying position in the same field of work. Then not only are her children safe from the war, they also have better opportunities in Tau Ceti and they won't have to live in Little Adhomai, in Mendell city. An optional objective is to get better at gardening and cook delicious interesting meals for her children with the new ingredients. Opinions on War: She is afraid of the war, afraid of losing her children to it. There is so much death and pain. But, she is still strictly supportive and loyal to the PRA, mostly out of fear. Any doubts she has about the PRA itself are deeply hidden, even from herself. She feels guilty for leaving Adhomai, for putting her children's lives over the needs of the PRA, and is afraid of having her work visa in Tau Ceti revoked if the PRA ever suspects her loyalty. She wishes the war would end quickly with a PRA victory, so she could continue working in Tau Ceti without that looming terror behind her. Job: I kind of touched on this in Objectives, but Khas'miera worked in supply back on Adhomai, so I think a cargo technician fits her qualifications really well. She is also going to study, hopefully at Nanotrasen Academy, to become a fully qualified Quartermaster.

My interactions with your characters have been generally enjoyable and I do not remember seeing any OOC rage from you, so you seem quite level-headed and friendly OOC. Winter Ase already has a motherly aura and looks after people, so I would be interested to see how you play your other characters in a "big sibling" role as command. +1

@DeadLantern Ah... I was trying to cram a lot of ideas about her backstory into as short and concise a post as possible. The "keep it simple" principle. In doing so, I think I lost a lot of the suffering that lead up to that breaking point. So I will try to share a little more here. I am sorry, this will be lengthy, but I do not want to run into the same issue. "Each time one of her friends or family were injured or killed serving the PRA, she would grieve and thank them for their service." <- This sentence does not adequately sum up how much suffering the "pointless" deaths caused Khas'miera. She lost childhood friends and work colleagues, and she lost family, from siblings to distant cousins. There were also a lot of close calls and some injuries that never fully healed. While it was not a "everyone she loves is dead" trope, her circle of friends and family were so patriotic, they would throw themselves into the fighting against the DPRA and NKA. There was a kind of normalcy to the loss and pain, but also a kind of mournful pride of their sacrifice borne from their loyalty to the People's Republic of Adhomai. Khas'miera's change of heart was not a sudden overnight epiphany. Rather it was a slow and depressing awareness that started with the birth of her eldest just 5 years prior. Becoming a parent creates a chemical shift in human's brains, it is an evolutionary thing to ensure the continuation of the species. I thought I would apply my very limited understanding of that to my character's story and development. What were once little thoughts or feelings she quickly dismissed and felt guilty for daring to have (usually after the death or injury of a loved one, or simply a random passing thought idle), were suddenly much more common. There was still a powerful guilt associated with the thoughts, and she dared bring it up with her husband one time, but he assured her they were safe. Besides, they were a LOYAL family, the PRA was bigger than any single Tajaran. Mourning with her mother for one of Khas'miera's brothers inflamed the fear within her. This deep, gnawing terror that no amount of patriotism could really quell. What if that was her son? Or her daughter? What if they never even made it to adulthood to become "loyal soldiers", and instead became civilian casualties? Her husband's death was not this sudden change, he was really the final straw to break the camel's back, and I think I failed miserably to convey that in my simplified post. Those three weeks she did not get a full night's rest, as she kept waking from night terrors about her children. For her sanity, but more importantly, for the SAFETY and FUTURE of her children, she had to leave. Years of slowly building doubts, thoughts and feelings, that had previously caused her so much guilt, culminated in a painful separation from EVERYTHING she knew and believed in. All for two little Tajaran who, to Khas'miera, ARE more important than the PRA. All of this is why I am so excited to play her, if I can. She might have acted on her doubts, left Adhomai, but she still carries the PRA with her, is still loyal to them. She has a lot of growing and developing yet to do, and being exposed to former DPRA, NKA and other PRA who left Adhomai behind might help her do just that. I am still not entirely sure I can pull off such a character, but I certainly want to try and see how she changes, or if her doubts and guilt about leaving eat away at her resolve.

BYOND Key: seeli Character Names: Georgene Harris, security officer Richard Harris, cook Emie Yen, medical doctor Faye O’Dell, cargo technician Bo Hynes, shaft miner Rawson Adler, lab assistant (newest) Species you are applying to play: Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character: White (M'sai) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I want to play this race because I want to roleplay a wider variety of characters. I have characters from Sol Alliance, Frontier Alliance and Republic of Biesel, but I really want to explore more characters with different backgrounds and culture to what is currently available for humans. The Tajaran lore and culture is quite deep and exciting, which is what drew me to applying for them in the first place. There are so many pages to explore, with new things I learn every time I read or re-read a page. From the planet pages, to culture and society pages, to government and organisations, there is so much to Tajaran lore. The news board are also fantastic sources of news and history. While it is a little intimidating because of the volume of things to remember, it is also exciting because there is so much to roleplay and add to my character. Also the mechanics of the tajara, beyond their culture and history, is so different to humans. Rolling their R’s, their biological differences which require they use custom gloves or suits, or the way they overheat, or the high speed and short stamina of the M’sai, or the bulkiness of the Zhan, or the tension over the Njarir’Akhran. All these things are interesting, new, and create fun opportunities to roleplay with. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Well, to start, they have feline features (ears and face) and other traits, such as padded digitigrade feet, semi-prehensile tails and fur. Tajaran fur is very thick, to protect them from the cold of Adhomai, but it leads to them overheating on a temperature-controlled space station like the Aurora. Even the color of their thick fur indicates biological differences between Tajaran, due to the strict breeding which created subraces (M’Sai, Hrarar, Zhan-Khazan, & Njarir’Akhran). Their culture is also affected by their subrace: how well they are educated, their prestige and respect in the community, where they work, their physical prowess, strengths and weaknesses, all of these are affected by the color of their fur and the generations of breeding from before. M’Sai, for example, are traditionally hunters and warriors, due to their greater speed, so they can often be found in military roles. Whereas the Zhan are considered the “workforce”, the dumb tough grunts with a strong sense of family. Another difference is their religious beliefs, such as the Ma’ta’ke pantheon, with the creation myth detailing how the pantheon warred against Jagosorrmrr’s children to create life on Adhomai. Or S’rand’marr, the worship of S’rendarr and Messa, the twin Adhomai suns which represent life and death respectively. There is also differences in how they speak, with the rolling of their R’s and referring to themselves in third person. They will generally use third person, unless they are particularly close and trust the person they are talking to, or making some great speech and want to enhance the “rhetorical impact” with first person. These things make them quite different to playing humans. Character Name: Khas’Miera Al-Rahan Please provide a short backstory for this character Khas’Miera Al-Rahan comes from a military family; her parents, all of her siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles serve the Republican Army, whether that be as soldiers or in a support role like supply or medical. Even her husband’s side of the family are military, with her husband serving as a soldier himself. However, Khas’miera was not a soldier, but instead worked in supply, helping with the organisation and facilitation of the food, weapons, ammunition, gear and transport of the Grand People’s Army. She loved her work and thought she was really making a difference. Each time one of her friends or family were injured or killed serving the PRA, she would grieve and thank them for their service. The death of her partner changed things for Khas’miera. Suddenly, she felt disillusioned. Her two sons were without a father and were just as likely to follow in his footsteps if she stayed. The fighting and killing seemed so pointless, too many Tajara were dying and for what? A claim to rule, to fight or protect change? Khas’miera made the decision to leave Adhomai within weeks of her husband’s death and applied for work with Nanotrasen. After leaving Adhomai, her family were furious at her for abandoning the PRA, especially since the DPRA and NKA united. But Khas'miera still believed she was doing what was right for her children. She found a cheap place to live in Mendell, and sought out an affordable babysitting service to look after her children. With the introduction of so many interesting new foods, Khas'miera took up cooking as a hobby, to better feed her little ones. What do you like about this character? I like that she comes from a military family, but is not a soldier herself. I like that she has long believed in the PRA, the communist ideals, but now has to figure things out for herself. There’s a lot of old ideals and beliefs she likely still clings to, which were so deeply ingrained in her being and she is only just starting to question. She had to leave behind her family and friends to protect her young children, but she might find new family and friends on the Aurora as Quartermaster/Cargo Technician. All of these provide so much potential for story and growth. I am very eager to roleplay this character. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 5/10 – I have good moments, then I have long spans not knowing what to say. Notes: N/A

[Denied] My 'Bear'ly acceptable IPC app
Seeli replied to Bear's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
+1 - My experience with A Big Bear has been solid and enjoyable RP, each character being different and interesting. Bayer is one of the most level-headed officers generally, a good listener and protective to a fault, Sarah Nievan is a clever, hardworking, snobbish scientist who is nice to those she deems valuable, Gabe Sinclair is the friendly, caring, easily freaked out paramedic, and Lachlan Wallace is the proud, simple and good natured miner. And this is just what I gathered from roleplaying with them. Even though John Grey is considered the black sheep of this list because he stares a lot and generally asks if someone needs assistance, given a chance, I picked up from roleplay that they are very literal, blunt, level-headed, and very well versed in Corporate Regulations. Given past experiences with these characters, OAIMA looks like another interesting and exciting character to add to your list, especially with the expanded background. Fingers crossed. -
I was tagged and, while I was not in engineering, what I did see over general comms was an absolute mess. The AI was acting like it was compromised by not stating laws, not listening to crew arguing in favor of her having access, and antagonizing Samara Watson for the entire shift, much to the dismay of a few crew members. Thea Reeves even gave Kaylee Ling Atmos access and was going to give it to Samara as well, until she was delayed and after that, I think it was forgotten in the stress of being antagonized. Edit: I would also like to note carefully that Samara Watson was NOT the only or even the FIRST person to suggest the AI was compromised. Here's all of the Samara vs Cynosure fight to show the support Watson was receiving ICly and the rising suspicion from other members of the crew when it persistently REFUSED to let Samara setup Atmos. I attached the unedited logs in a word document for perusal. Chat log SAMARA vs CYNOSURE.docx

Oh, I am sorry. I was really tired, and another suggested nerf for medical seemed pointless and punishing. Let me reiterate besides "no thanks". Tricord is used by the medbots, paramedics/rescue types, interns and residents learning medical, and medical teams that do not have access to chemistry or cannot get help from other departments. What little we start with WILL NOT LAST. Take tricord away or set an overdose, and it stops being all of those. With an overdose, it's no longer safe for medbots to use, or paramedics, or interns & residents. Only thing it is safe for, is medical teams that have no chemistry, because they know how to use it. It is not a magical fix-all, it helps a little bit. Instead, it is a great way to learn medical and not kill every minor patient with overdosing. Look how little it really does for burns compared to Kelotane; Tricord: Metabolisation: 0.1u/tick, Heals 3 burn damage per unit vs Kelotane: Metabolisation: 0.2u/tick, Heals 6 Burn damage per unit. Kelo has twice the metabolization and healing. So it's way faster and effective. Add dermaline, with half the overdose of kelotane and twice the effectiveness, and you're healing machine.

Spider's Command Whitelist Application

+1 - Don't know the other characters, but Armstrong is an interesting, fun and skilled officer. Can go a bit hard on the robusting sometimes, or stand around quietly for long periods of time, but those are rare. RP with Armstrong is usually enjoyable to interact with and is quite competent. I would be interested to see Armstrong as HoS. OOC, they're fun to talk to in ghost chat and OOC, and I think they would guide RP well from a command position. -

[On Trial] Tyranny's Command Whitelist Application
Seeli replied to TyrannyYT's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
+1 - As I said in character before, I think Alice White is suitable for the role of CMO. White did well as interim-CMO. OOC, I have interacted with a few of Tyranny's characters and observed them as a ghost a number of times. I think Tyranny is a fun and interesting roleplayer, who knows and understands the role and rules really well, while also encouraging RP, both in and out of character. I think would do well in a command role. -
In this case, it was not going to be held for long and it was not being improperly used, so I am glad there is something coded into it now. I was one of the medical staff and the doors closed when I was 1 square away from them. Had I been able to move faster, I would, but I had just stopped Mutema from actively dying in surgery (finally had access to the ORs again & did not fix his skull, just the stuff that was actively killing him). I ran as fast as my food & water deprived character could run, which wasn't fast (none of medical were fast, we hadn't taken a break since medical was blown up). edit- should note medical were all dragging someone behind them on beds, so I think that slows us down too.

I play Georgene Harris. MissNatcula rp’d Lin really well. It was very spooky and fighting with her for the KO’d Korassh was NOT easy. It was challenging, fun, and maintained a level of spooky RP throughout that I really appreciated. Neither side WANTED to kill the other, which made it all the more thrilling and impactful. I can see where the warning is coming from, but it was far spookier to have that change come over her. I even thought the LI was why it was happening OOCly, so it made sense. And being a subject of that vampire's mind control a few times, they did not tell me to kill anyone either, only ever detain them. I think Malone was the only one told to kill and his target was Georgene. It was very clever and created great rp. Harris was really upset to see Lin so zombie-like and wanted to save her from Guwan and Salvos, but she didn’t even have her stunbaton anymore. She had to take Lin’s right at the end and it was NOT easy to do. The logs don’t show how much running and maneuvering we were doing during those fights in the dark powerless station, from medbay, to the elevators, up to the maintenance tunnels on the surface and near cargo. It was intense and I am grateful to MissNatcula for not escalating to lethal force. She outran and outmaneuvered TWO officers, alone, for SO LONG. If not for people crowding in maintenance to shelter from radiation stopping her progress, she would have escaped! I am sorry for saying my piece, but considering how amazing that round was for many involved with the vampire and his thralls, I hope this warning can be dropped.

[Accepted] MissNatcula's Command Application
Seeli replied to MissNatcula's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
-1 for Lin Dyslioth in command. If MissNatcula was making a new character for command, certainly. You are competent rper, a friendly person, you seem a veteran of Aurora Station, and your reasons for wanting command are fantastic. But I have concerns about your choice of Lin Dyslioth for command. While many of my interactions with her have been positive, there have also been a lot of times I have witnessed poor choices and relations with Lin. Lin Dyslioth has shown contempt, or just a lack of concern/action, for the safety and lives of crew and officers on many different occasions. Multiple times (note: NOT ALL, but on multiple occasions) Lin Dyslioth has refused security officers protective gear and weaponry when they needed it. On many of these occasions, it resulted in harm or death to the officers and crew they were trying to protect. A few times, this was subverted by a HoS stepping in to point out the need for weaponry and that they had ordered the armament of the officers once already. Lin complied, so the officers were ok, but those orders were usually met with contempt by Lin. Refusing to search suspect and leaving them in processing, which resulted in the death of the warden when that suspect was armed. Also, telling off officers for searching suspects in processing, to make sure the suspect was not left in there with a weapon. As mentioned, an incident of refusal to arm and assist officers when an antag murdered a crew member in front of her, then standing by watching while officers and civilians were murdered without sufficient provocation. And then defending said murderer (despite not being an antag herself that round). Cooperating with antags which resulted in the harm of crew and officers. This has happened a couple of times. Lin has, on a few occasions, abandoned other crew to save herself. Contempt for the regulations and procedures around loyalty implantation, cyborgification, and severity of prisoner penalties resulting in harm to crew and station, and large arguments about these situations. Refusal to cooperate with command staff, refusal to follow important orders from command staff, and regularly expressed contempt for coworkers, command, and crew. I have observed her berating others and publicly denouncing teammates who are putting their lives at risk to protect the station, while she sits in the security lobby. The few times I have seen Lin in a temporary command position, she has not shown the effective command and organisation of officers required of a HoS, often because there was so much going on, her anxiety was effecting her ability to cope. Lin Dyslioth is a very inactive warden in some rounds. To be fair, in a warden position, there is not much to do when there are no prisoners or threats, as their authority is limited to the brig. But she did this when there are active threats and then complained about the inefficiency of officers. In opposition of this, there have been times where she has armed only herself and gone out to deal with problems herself, rather than arming officers.
