I had this issue just recently. Where the CMO and my roboticist spoke for about ten minutes, regarding if a patient had eyes or not, because she thought I'd done the operation in a few seconds, and I had not even started, but I assumed she was saying that his eyes were fixed earlier by someone else. Pretty simple, I think. If someone is missing eyes, it should check if eyes are not covered and then say "HE/SHE is missing His/her eyes!" in big red text, similar to being dismembered in other ways.

I like all of these except for Ion, laz and Shotgun. The Ion looks like a BFG, and I honestly prefer the wooden shotgun, I'd be okay with going for white plating on the tactical shotgun, but the regular shotgun has a nice rustic quality that makes it appealing. Just as a matter of personal taste, universal color pallets, where, say. Every weapon has the same white, or black seems to get to me. They feel almost more like nerf guns, instead of actual weapons, when they all have plastic solid-coloured panelling and chonky looks, the laser rifle has a very big nerf vibe, for some reason. Edit: Should have skimmed more of the thread, I dig the way the Ion is now looking.

What it says on the box. Right now, if telecomms fails, PDA messaging is impossible, antags can't use telecrystals, and suit sensors, and cameras are also all inaccessible. The cameras are particularly frustrating, since it prevents troubleshooting by simply looking at the cameras and seeing if there is something wrong. I'm not sure if this is an intentional effect, but the network going down at this point sends the whole station back to the stone age, and as much sense as that makes, it is honestly just annoying to have a problem that effects the entire station, and simultaneously is only really able to be monitored and controlled by a few heads.

Yea, Emitters are essentially firing Plasma, So y'know, despite the high speed, it would dissipate ultra quick. That said, there should still be a way to squeeze out more range, at the risk of overheating the emitter. Maybe using a wrench while it's welded will compact the plasma coils, giving it a large boost of range, at the cost of damaging the emitter a little more with each shot. Just a thought, since there's really not much else you can do to handle blobs outside of emitters, and if the range was like, ten tiles, in some cases it would be useless against blobs, those fuckers can really grow.

is this where guwan come from?

Aphelion's Greasy Catman Application
Aphelion replied to Aphelion's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Thanks for your feedback. I had set the first name to "Louie" since it seemed easy for Tajara to pronounce. I'm keen to change it "Marid" if that will be preferable. For the middle name, I was a little confused by this description... With the lack of a dynasty that Zarjol was keen to keep the name of, giving his son a middle name that attributed the gang he was a part of made sense to me. Again, I'd be fine to remove the middle name alltogether, since that is also something that could have been possible. Zarjol had been tasked with defending the noble Hrak'or Dynasty, after being made to commit increasingly depressing warcrimes against the freedom fighters, he eventually lost any sense of loyalty to the dynasty, and ultimately did what was in his power to let the rebels send Hrak'or into the history books. Ashamed for the things he'd done, and also not wanting to face judgement by either party, Zarjol fled as far from Adhomai as he could manage, somewhere between 2428 and 2432. I'll be honest, I kind of jumped the gun here. I was running on the assumption that because it was the early stages of Little Adhomai, that most of the faction backed gangs would still be in their infancy, if not formed at all. However, given that he had a fear of being persecuted for his warcrimes and betrayal of his dynasty, I think he would want to avoid associating with any large faction, and prefered to live a free life in the Raging Ha'rron Club. He's opposed to the Democratic People's Republic of Adhomai, having seen the war that had been ravaging Adhomai via various newscasts that made it through to Biesel. The man dislikes the unnecessary return to savagery that they had brought about. A majority of his colleagues, and friends are in favour of People's Republic of Adhomai. Although he is mostly impartial, he believes that this party is the right way forwards for the people of his homeland, he supports the PRA the most, of all parties. He doesn't like the New Kingdom of Adhomai. As a concept. He's aware that it is a democratic kingdom that in theory would prevent the nobility that initially tore Adhomai apart. However, more on principle than anything else he doesn't like how its members give off a poorly found sense of righteous authority in insisting that nobles have a birthright to power. Usually he will be more tolerant of this group, by comparison to the DPRA, which he considers borderline terrorists. Might revisit this after work, but this is what I've got so far. -
Not necessarily on people, but some kind of 'dummy' that you can slide a uniform and an ID onto, and have give readouts that don't look suspicious to medical would be great. As far as I see it, there could be two ways to do it, a ghetto way, which would be sliding an ID and suit onto a suit cooling unit, or a monkey, for organics. And a prime way, which would function by essentially being a literal dummy that you can dress up. The Ghetto way would work for location, but give some pretty bizarre readings that a doctor who is paying attention would pick up on. The prime way would be much harder to distinguish. This is a very niche idea, so I understand if it isn't worthy of the time it might take to make it, but I feel like it could be useful for more interesting gameplay. Making suit sensors not as reliable for certain things, and enabling people to cause a distraction if they really need it.

The corporations should take advantage of IPC's desire for self preservation, by marketing a brand of cigarettes designed to be stuffed into an intake fan, that supposedly improve the longevity of internal components. In reality it does nothing, and the corporations are flatout lying, but many IPCs don't care, and just smoke them out of superstitious belief, combined with that need from their primary desire of self-preservation.

BYOND Key: 1062 Aphelion Character Names: I play allot of characters, mostly right now I flip-flop between NT-DISP, and Eva Jotunheimr. Species you are applying to play: Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Jet black. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yea Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I want to be part of the clique. I find their gang associations within 'Little Adhomai' to be particularly interesting, and a good starting point for a character. Mostly I want to have a character who was immersed in the Raging Ha'rron gang from an early age but found themselves moving away from that business as the gang started to diminish. Other than that, there is a fairly big appeal to me around the idea of a species that is in turmoil with itself, but enabled by outside influence, I think it provides lots of opportunities for interesting characters to be made. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: (One Paragraph minimum) As mentioned before, Tajara are a species in turmoil, they are spread among wide among the stars and scattered, and have several ideals that challenge one another directly, this disparate nature is even present between different ethnicities of Tajara, with their qualities being alternative due to selective breeding and cultural factors. While concievably a human from Eridani, the Scarab Fleet, or Dominia would be dramatically different, the difference between Tajara are a bit more pronounced due to the generations of selective breeding, and the rather violent way they were dragged onto the galactic stage as a species. From a mechanical standpoint, the differences fairly straightforward, they can see in the dark, prefer the cold to the hot, and have claws that deal a little more melee damage. Character Name: Louie Ha'rron Danilovich Please provide a short backstory for this character (Approximately two paragraphs) Having been raised by his single father Zarjol, with which he fled to Mendell with as an infant and who after moving, would inevitably end up affiliated with the criminal organization known as the Raging Ha'rron Club. Due to his already potent knowledge of motors and engines from serving in the early stages of the uprisings, Zarjol effectively became one of the more popular and savvy members of the gang. Louie found himself being raised in the gang's environment, from the age of three until when he started primary school, the young Tajara wouldn't be more than fifteen meters away from an engine or monowheel at any time, becoming immersed in the culture effectively becoming a gang-baby. This engagement with engines, and mechatronics from an early age, had him building his first functional monowheel with his dad's assistance at about the age of fourteen, at which point he would be fully canonized as a member of the Raging Ha'rron Club. Even then, the gang was on rickety feet, as additional gangs were now forming in The Imperial Plaza. This resulted in, much against his own wishes, Zarjol forcing Louie to commit to completing his classes and taking advantage of the Miranda Trasen Scholarship, something that Zarjol undoubtedly worked very hard for his son to get. By the time the Raging Ha'rron Club was about gone, Louie was in the final trimester of his Bachelor in Mechatronic Engineering. He ultimately ended up having to turn his back on the family he'd found himself with in order to become qualified, and employable, with a mostly clean criminal record. Though he still sometimes wonders if things could have been different, had he committed to working with the gang. he ultimately moved on to working with NT, performing placement, and then being employed in Lekan District, as a Mechatronic Technician What do you like about this character? (Describe what you like about this character He's a greaser cat who managed to get clean before it cost him, and holds regrets about that. I dig how his experiences are very personal. I feel like having grown up in Mendell City, he has a unique perspective on the political nature of Tajara, and most of Biesel. With a myriad of experiences in the various districts growing up, his experiences as a migrant are probably also very unique to tajara, and I feel like he would just generally be fun to play as. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 5/10 Notes:

Guwan cannot read. If I wanted to speak bad about them I could. But most Guwan are ok. So long as they are not rapists or pedophiles.

I like this. It would be even cooler if every single gun was fully modular, and overheating could damage components and stuff. But I don't think people would enjoy that at all, and implementation would be a little nightmare. Personally I've never had much of an issue with E-guns running out of power, though I can see it happening. If this is implemented, adding a few more warnings to a weapon nearing over-heat would be good like "The gun is getting hot in your hands" and maybe making it so that the hotter the laser rifle is, the higher pitched the sound of it shooting is. Big changes are spoopy tho, maybe you could keep/make a few guns that have a gimick around being rechargeable for super-cooling circuits or somthat, then if they run out of charge you can still use them but they might explode or melt. A part of me hates the idea of dissipating heat in a vacuum by "BEING SUPER ADVANCED" but there's not much we can do to stop that. The laws of thermodynamics have long since been burried and forgotten in the year 2463, so trying to explain it is useless. Just say something senseless like "The cell in the weapon has ultra-heat-reclamation tech" where basically a series of heat-pipes lead to very small thermo-electric-generators in the gun, and convert the heat into power.

Guwan are actually ok. Nevermind.

Guwan leave airlocks open on purpose, because they hate everyone. Most guwan are sociopaths, and that's a fact.

When an IPC takes enough brute damage it will leak oil. Trouble is that it genuinely seems like IPCs have an infinite amount of oil. I'm no mechanic, but when something leaks oil, be it for greasing its joints or forcing pistons it's a bad sign. I think Oil Levels should be similar to Blood in organics, and you should be able to get a readout with a robotics scanner, and perform an oil change on an IPC by replacing a canister in their torso. When an IPC is low on oil, moving and actions should generate more and more heat depending on just how low their oil levels are.

The main issue with monkeys is that they do not have as diverse a set of appearances. If they're injected with Mutone, there are very few observable effects unless you are lucky. Player controlled mice would be good, it would honestly be nice if a ghost could just 'take over' a mouse that is being experimented on, if this gets approved.

Make it so that only Unathi and Vaurca Warrior forms can drag while having two hands in use. I always visualize dragging three people as having like, one person slung over the shoulder.

On the topic of medical stationbounds fusing. Personally, I like the rescue module. When it comes to the job of EMT it is very good for it. It can summon rollerbeds, inflatable barriers has adrenaline ready (might need a few more chems in the hypospray tho). I think it's a good ballance to not let it do surgery. As for the standard medical module. It's basically how you say it, only good for filling in for surgeons. This is an easy fix though, because the only real thing slowing it down in the chemistry lab is the absence of a means of carrying bottles to the chemfridge faster than one at a time. Give standard medical a medicine loader that can mass grab all the bottles on a tile and you're ?. For fusing the engineering modules, yea ok. Maybe just make the engineering RCD an upgrade from robotics to fix the issue of it being a tad op.

The main issue with getting rid of the effectiveness of flashes, is that borgs are already very tanky. There is some ballance in the flash because it relies on getting in melee range (something that prevents an average stationbound from waltzing up to a defenseless security team and wrenching them to death cuz machine can't feel pain .exe) However, as a rule I think most instant win moves are a little unfair. I think if we were to remove the flash or the effect it has on borgs, some alternative should exist. One that isn't an instant win but still gives people some kind of basic defense/offense/means of being a threat at all to the borgs. +0.5 Remove flash, make Ion weapons more commonplace, or something.

Testing on mice is something modern scientists do. If lab mice or lab rats became a thing, having them react to experimental chemicals like mutagen and mutone would be really good for rp. It would be a good and cost effective alternative to having scientists injecting themselves with mutone to see the reaction, which in the eyes of some command staff immediately makes them NT property ? So anyway... That's the idea, add lab mice or lab rats that actually react to chemicals on similar levels to a player mob.

Let robotics augment rats to have tiny deathrays too. Jk but +1 anyway

Remove roboticist access to Telescience and add roboticist access to misc research. Idek why robotics have telescience access.

Yeuup. Getting on this too with certain requests for very difficult stuff to get being so meek. I.E 6 floorbots from robotics. Something that to produce requires someone to hunt the entire station for blue toolboxes, because floorbots can only be made with blue toolboxes. Something that needs all this work only gets like... 2000 credits for cargo. On oppose to guns from science which don't even need to be functional, take a few minutes of a competent person's time and earn up to 10,000 credits for one. All in all, looking into required effort verses reward for everything would be good.
