Staff Complaint - Coalf, MattAtlas, and Alberyk
CampinKiller replied to a topic in Staff Complaints Archive
As the person being referenced here, let me just say that what occurred was not sedition. There was no inciting of a rebellion, or "rallying" against the chain of command/conspiring against the chain of command. At worst what was committed was Failure to Execute an Order w/Serious Consequences. -
Security: ISD - Internal Security Department Investigations Team - Detective and CSI/Forensic Technician Mask up - Obtain and/or equip gas masks Gas 'em - Deploy tear gas Bang 'em - Deploy flashbang(s) Regroup - Withdraw from active engagement with hostiles and reorganize and reload Arm up - Obtain weaponry from the armory Officer down - Member of Security is critically injured or killed Hit - To have been injured Communal - The main room that connects all 5 cells, used for people who are HuT (Holding until Transfer) or are complaint in custody for extra comfort HuT - Holding until transfer, basically the same as permabrig, the prisoner is held until the crew transfer Setting up the suits - To add the magboots, helmet, and a full oxygen tank, to the Security EVA suits Processing a crime scene - To collect every scrap of evidence from every little thing present in a crime scene Throwing the book at them - To charge someone with every. Single. Violation. Typically done for people who are being shitters or otherwise noncompliant. Resisting (Arrest) - Both a crime and an action, typically performed by either running from Security or attacking Security as they make an arrest. Also known as a "202"

(Insert apology for triple post here) Not sure I ever mentioned it, but a month suspension for this just seems generally excessive. Considering the only other thing on Price's record is a minor incident from over 2 years ago, to get a month suspension just seems incredibly excessive, even if he was in the wrong. I don't care about "high-profile incident," being some random factor into this. This is an IC consequence that is longer than some OOC bans for rulebreaking. And while, yes, I can still play the slot, who wants to play a throwaway character for a month? Nobody.
-
One thing I will add about arming Sulyard (or rather, letting her stay armed), is that it was done for self defense purposes, considering she was evacuating the civilian area while the main part of ISD engaged the creature. I did not order her to directly confront the creature at any time (that I can recall), nor did I expect her to do so, and, in my mind, evacuating civilians would be something a Cadet would be up for in that situation. We were also down in numbers on officers, as one had been wounded before her death.
-
I thought they were called much earlier (from memory/OOC'ly in the round and IC'ly) than the ERT. I know Price and others had requested/approved of them when they were mentioned, and he re-focused on fighting the creature without realizing that the borgs were never activated, and so, as the situation worsened, called for the ERT without realizing the borgs hadn't just been activated.
-
I am well aware how the Vaurca died, and that the ERT died. Why they came unprepared to fight, who knows. I am also aware of the fact that the Captain's authority is final, but in the situation, we could not have relieved them of command via no confidence, since it requires a unanimous vote, that Jawdat certainly wasn't going to allow, considering his behavior. And if the Captain wasn't acting prideful, I'm not sure how else to describe it, other than acting stupid. I will also say that the action taken against you was not just from this round, but from multiple rounds, so it doesn't really apply.

[Accepted] Adrae's Command Whitelist
CampinKiller replied to Adrae's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Oh, absolutely. Great conduct, great characters, great everything. +1 Also, did not realize you were the person I nearly executed during the xeno event for disobeying an order. -
I meant to post this the other day, but, I forgot. After playing with Paradox's Captain, I have to say he's probably one of the better Captains in recent memory. I like how he doesn't show up at every arrest that ISD makes, or that he's not 24/7 breathing down the throat of everyone on station, showing up at every opportunity. Instead, he's pulling the strings from his office. Hell, he has a spine. We need Captains with a spine. Rescind my -1, replace with +1

BYOND Key: CampinKiller Staff BYOND Key: Synnono (Since he's the head of CCIA) Game ID: Whatever the Roanoke Pt II incident was Reason for complaint: Disagreement with the decision of CCIA in regards to my character Marc Price Evidence/logs/etc: This is going to be a long post. I had a very long discussion that alternated between an initial angry rant, and actual topics, with Synnono yesterday, where I was told my chances of an IC appeal are slim to none. Since I disagree with the decision as a whole, here I am. For starters, let's reference the punishments of everyone involved in the ZaBound incident: Captain Uriel Evans - reprimand for putting themselves at risk Chief Engineer Zachary Gallagher - 2500 Credit fine Jawdat (Jackboot) - Handled OOC'ly Head of Security Marc Price (me) - 1 month suspension and a reprimand As you can see, one of these things is not like the other. The entire incident has been wrongly laid at the feet of my character, and to be suspended for a month, when everyone else got off with a slap of the wrist (minus JB) is outrageous. I'm going to start by taking the official notice and working through my conversation with Synnono. Two things to look at here. It should be noted that the superior's orders were leading to more destruction and injuries. Combat borgs were not working against the creature, and the Captain wished to continue to have ISD throw themselves at it to protect his own pride, even after ISD had someone killed. Calling an ERT was the responsible move to try and protect people, and it ultimately lead to the creature's death, as the single ERT member (who came on as engineering, despite our situation report to them) was able to locate the creature in a trapped area for us to move in on. At some point, obeying a superior's orders take a backseat to protecting people and performing your duties. It should also be noted that, at no time was the cadet who was killed was put in a lethal combat scenario, unless you want to count the entire station as a combat scenario. When I initially sent 3 of ISD (2 officers and a cadet) to the Roanoke, it was in riot gear, not combat gear. When ISD went back in full, and heavily armed, we were unable to get the Cadet off as the shuttle was suddenly launched by someone. Additionally, the Cadet was given a rifle by the Tup Skrell when I was not present. They turned it over to me later. They were killed, unarmed, in Cargo, evacuation civilians (iirc). At no point was there so-called "irresponsible endangerment." I'm not sure what ISD did that would cause my actions to be blamed. The only thing ISD did in regards to survivors was take gear for crowd control purposes. We did not meet them with shotguns and rifles at the ready. At the end of the day, yes, the HoS is responsible for his department. However, he never directly put her in danger via any orders or armaments. In the end, she died for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. ISD's handling of the refugees was incredibly light. Remember, we were deploying to a cruise liner, and the 3 members that deployed were prepared for crowd control, as there were supposed to be hundreds of crewmembers aboard. Back on station, I set up traffic control to direct the refugees to the Bar, per orders from the Captain. ISD was directly attacked by Jawdat in Command, and over Common, for being prepared for crowd control, but this is a normal precaution when dealing with large crowds. Security was handled as best as it could under the circumstances of an HoP who's actively opposing, criticizing, and involving themselves in every action taken by ISD, and a Captain who was making terrible, and frankly dangerous, decisions, all while the station is attacked by a gigantic monster. The single order that was disobeyed was disobeyed as a result of a string of incompetence from the Captain, to include being incredibly slow on activating combat borgs, getting in the way of ISD as they tried to fight, and placing their own pride above the safety of the station. At the point the ERT was called, it was absolutely necessary for it to come. The decision to not concur with the request by the HoS to call an ERT was met with general disbelief on Command, as well. The only reason that Sulyard was the only crew death was because of some very ballsy actions from the CMO in evacuating Medical. There could have easily been 5 killed from the incompetence of the Captain. Simply being one's boss should not lead to the death of that person being labelled as irresponsible and avoidable. The other was unauthorized, but it arguably helped the situation, as they helped hunt down the creature. For whatever reason, they came as an Engineering ERT, and not as a Security one, and were a singular person, both things that I am not responsible for. We'd had borgs for some time, and they hadn't worked. Additional remarks: I find that, for everyone else to essentially get a slap on the wrist, and me to get absolutely annihilated by CCIA is asinine. People who were there will tell you that the deaths were not Price's fault, and I've talked to several who think that this result is absolutely bullshit. Additionally, at least one person was never contacted for the investigation (@CommanderXor), because the assumption was made that nothing new would be gleaned from it. I would like this suspension by CCIA to be nullified. On another note, at the end of the day, canon events are supposed to be fun. They are not supposed to cause someone to have their character removed for an extended length of time because of the event itself, and the IC actions of others. This whole fiasco has pretty much guaranteed that I will never play another canon event, because I am at risk of being thrown into 50 IRs by people who are salty, and then having my character suspended without cause.

[Resolved] Staff Complaint - QueenOfYugoslavia
CampinKiller replied to CampinKiller's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
I do not believe I am “above” being bwoinked. My issue from the first one is that I was being asked to drop everything in the middle of a situation, instead of being allowed to make time later, as is typical. As for arguing, when I am being told wrong, I will argue. Someone was being actively stabbed, to the point of blindness. They’ve escalated to lethal force. At that point, lethal force is absolutely justified, because they are trying to kill someone. What am I supposed to do, wait until they’ve killed the person to use lethal force? What are you defining as “proper” combat escalation, when the person involved has escalated as far as you can go? Even then, I didn’t actually use lethal force, but rather beat the person to the ground. -
BYOND Key: CampinKiller Staff BYOND Key: QueenOfYugoslavia Game ID: bVy-dG0R Reason for complaint: Given a warning for use of force Evidence/logs/etc: Before I post logs, it should be noted that I did not even use lethal force. I beat the suspect with an energy gun set to lethal, because it was the first thing I grabbed. Regardless, my issue here is that, in every use of force manual ever, lethal force is met with lethal force. Period. No ifs, ands, or buts. If someone is stabbing someone else, they are using lethal force, and should expect to be met with lethal force, as using it to defend someone else is absolutely justified. Queen, however, decided that is not the case. I want to expand on a couple things here: -Queen mentioned that the other person started the fight, but I did not know this, as I opened the door to see one person being stabbed. -Queen mentions that the other person was not at risk of death, despite the fact that they were actively being stabbed. I would call that being at risk of death. -It should be noted that I never actually used lethal force. I whacked the person with the butt-end of my carbine, which is decidedly not lethal force. The only thing was that the carbine was set on kill from engagements earlier, but it was not actually fired. Also, a use of force continuum used by law enforcement, for reference. Additional remarks: I would like my warning removed, and Queen to be educated on justifiable use of force.

CampinKiller - Lying To CCIA As Loyalty Implanted HoS
CampinKiller replied to a topic in Complaints Boards Archive
A different incident where, according to others, your HoP threatened to shoot Price. Moving on from that, this complaint seems like some assinine attempt to get me punished for nothing. What I feel like happened is that there was a lack of evidence, and now you’re going after me personally for no reason, other than I allegedly wronged one of your many annoying, edgy characters, who couldn’t take being charged with a breach of regulations. This reeks of you trying to influence a CCIA decision. It reeks of breaking the rule about “don’t be a dick.” It’s idiotic. And don’t go on about my character being corrupt because of an (alleged) lie. That is absolutely rich coming from someone who’s head of personnel was actively suggesting to shoot him during a canon round. Maybe, for once, you can sit down and accept that not everything will go your way. Get over it. There was no violation of any rule by (allegedly) lying to CCIA when not loyalty implanted. -
CampinKiller - Lying To CCIA As Loyalty Implanted HoS
CampinKiller replied to a topic in Complaints Boards Archive
You know what else isn’t good command play? Threatening to shoot the HoS during a code red. But, I digress. Allegedly lying to CCIA is not bad command play. It wasn’t even command play. If you have that much of a hard on to get something done to me or my character over something incredibly minor, then I don’t know what to tell you. There’s nothing else to say beyond the fact that it wasn’t done with an LI, so if I (allegedly) lied, it wouldn’t matter. On that note, people lie to their bosses all the time. You are blowing something completely meaningless that was started by one of your annoying, and frankly “looking for a fight” characters -
CampinKiller - Lying To CCIA As Loyalty Implanted HoS
CampinKiller replied to a topic in Complaints Boards Archive
That's pretty bad faith. Using a technicality of being visitor to lie to CCIA to avoid owning up to the mean spirited and pretty unnecessary act of burning evidence in front of someone. There's not more I think I have to say. Hopefully administration can see why this is behaving in bad faith. Oh, give me a break. It’s not a technicality, it’s the truth of the matter. You already harassed my character enough IC’ly (for whatever reason), and now because he has (allegedly) been dishonest, you want something done OOC’ly? When did I piss in your cereal? -
CampinKiller - Lying To CCIA As Loyalty Implanted HoS
CampinKiller replied to a topic in Complaints Boards Archive
I was interviewed as a Visitor. The loyalty implant is not active outside of work as that position. There really isn't much else to it. Also, given that it happened after a serious incident (Za Bound), him forgetting about something that minor wouldn't even be shocking. -

They were placed in the Armory, and myself and Officer Fitzgerald took them to the firing range for testing. While we were there, Fitzgerald's hand was blown off by an exploding Lawgiver. It exploded because the weapon had been imprinted with the Director's DNA, for an unknown reason. As this was gross negligence, I issued a warrant for the arrest of the Director on the charge of i221: Gross Negligence. Captain Klaus Eliade decided that there was "insufficient evidence" to charge the Director, and nullified the warrant, stating that it was both of our fault's, and the officer's own fault for blowing her hand off. This is despite the fact that the Director should never have implanted her DNA on the weapon. The Captain then went on a tirade about how ISD cannot be trusted to handle the weapons, and that they should not be tested in the firing range. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: It was reported to the Captain, who failed to adequately resolve the situation. Actions taken: Nothing was done Additional Notes: N/A

-1 While I've had limited direct experience with his characters in the past, the experience I have had make me come here and post on a whitelist application, which I never do. Paradox's characters strike me as incredibly snowflakey. I have previously given them direct orders during an emergency as the Head of Security, and been told to fuck off, and actually shot at by this person, when they were not an antag. Do I have an issue with being told to fuck off? No, I get told it on a daily basis. The problem here is opening fire on a head of staff that has given you a direct order. Moving on from that incident, I find Paradox's OOC behavior to be awful. On numerous occasions I have been personally attacked, degraded, called retarded, and generally insulted for my "awful" IC decisions. A couple of these incidents have caused OOC to be muted as a result of what is said. I do not believe that Paradox should be able to hold a command whitelist if they cannot act like a mature human being. It's not just me who gets insulted, either. It gets done to a lot of people, especially those in Command and Security, on a regular basis. If it were just memeing or the occasional complaint, it wouldn't be an issue. It's constant vitriol, and that's unacceptable for someone who holds a Command whitelist.

It should also be noted that Jawdat abused his announcement system to advertise their rap album in support of the PRA, before being shut down by the Captain. During the CV Roanoke incident, Jawdat attempted to lecture myself on how to conduct Security operations, going so far as to mock me publicly for having officers situated for crowd control, and going with the away team. Jawdat, despite being at first request, and then ordered to stop or face an injunction, harassed me continually over the Command channel, and occasionally to other crewmembers in person, saying things such as "Will he bring shotguns to kill the survivors, too?" and "How did you get hired?" During the away team's mission, he nearly got Cadet Michelle Sulyard killed when he closed the door on her after discovering the hostile creature. During the same mission, he blatantly disregarded ISD with the team, instead charging straight ahead of them on multiple occasions. These actions nearly caused a member of ISD to be left behind. When the creature boarded the Aurora, Jawdat instead hid, locking the Bridge down and taking shelter in the Command Bunker, causing it to take valuable time for necessary items to be secured from the Bridge for their attempted use in the defense of the station. After the ERT was called, Jawdat immediately suggested to the Captain that I be arrested for "disobeying orders," during the middle of the fighting against the creature. Jawdat continued to insist this, clogging up the communication channels. At one point, he began to read the corporate regulations outloud over the Command net, causing important information to be missed. Upon return to the Odin, Jawdat attempted to get into the Odin Security area in order to "read corporate regulations to me." Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: Due to the nature of the incident, this was not possible Actions taken: An injunction in regards to the radio messages was written, but never delivered. The Captain squashed his rap broadcasts. Additional Notes: N/A

The creature rampaged through the station, causing massive amounts of destruction, and several injures, including at least one death. Crisis override and code red had been in effect for some time, and the creature was unable to be stopped. As Head of Security, I realized the severity of this threat, and recommended we call an ERT. The majority of command agreed with this, but the Captain insisted that we try to continue to neutralize the threat ourselves, despite the fact that it was clear ISD was unable to at the time. As a result, myself and the Chief Engineer called the ERT regardless, recognizing that it would be much more beneficial for continued operation of the NSS Aurora II if the creature was not allowed to continue rampaging through the halls. The Captain then stated his intent to arrest myself, in the middle of the code red situation. In the end, ISD neutralized the threat with the assistance of the ERT and crisis-moduled stationbounds. The Captain's inaction, and actions over the course of the shift cost at least one crewmember their life, and thousands of credits in damages. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? [Resolved] Player Complaint - ArmoryBlaine
CampinKiller replied to CommanderXor's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
I play as Head of Security, and I play as it a lot. Even though I don’t personally interact with Carmichael very often outside of issuing orders and commanding situations, I can vouch for him doing more than just standing in the lobby and waiting. Even if Amory did have him stand there for half the round, they’d be doing the same thing several other officers do, and I don’t see any complaints being made about them. On another note, I think it is perfectly acceptable for people to be opened fire on without any words, provided that they have already been known to be openly hostile and are armed. Once someone has opened fire on crew/security, lethal force is authorized, and that doesn’t end just because they aren’t actively firing anymore, or they escaped custody in that situation. They’re still armed and dangerous -
[1 Dismissal] IC directive suggestion: Posting bail
CampinKiller replied to Scheveningen's topic in Rejected Policy
Going to C&P what I said in ISD Discord, but currently credits are absolutely useless. I am not in support of a "get out of jail free card," even if they can only do it once. Also, I believe sole authority for approving or denying bail requests should lie with the HoS, unless there is not one. -
To be honest, I don't see an issue with the Head of Security walking around. I'm not saying constantly patrol around, or go into maintenance, but there is absolutely nothing wrong (IMO) with a Head of Security going out and taking some laps around the halls, whether you've got 0 officers or 4 officers. In terms of the station, the HoS is like a police captain - there to direct and oversee his house (station) security's efforts, but also going out into the weeds. At least in the HoS's case, they are, 99% of the time, former officers, so it's not like they're putting themselves in harm's way.

[Resolved] Character Complaint: Julian McCoy
CampinKiller replied to AllyBearsley's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
I got beat to the punch, as I was considering making a character complaint as well. Regardless of that, I will detail my experiences and views of McCoy. To put it short, they, at 32, are a trained Doctor, EMT, Chemist, Engineer, Investigator, and Psychiatrist, who also possesses EVA training. To put that into perspective, it takes 7 years to get through medical school, and 4 years before that of undergraduate study. That's 11 years. Assuming McCoy started at the age of 18 in college, he would be 29 by the time he was a licensed doctor. Adding all these other things in 3 years is impossible. To me, especially with his constant behavior and butting in on everything, screams Mary Sue to me. I'm not sure what faults McCoy has, if any. I cannot remember the last time I played a round and didn't have McCoy try to overstep his bounds as an assistant. I see him constantly running around as an assistant and claiming it's okay for him to butt in over trained personnel because "he's an assistant, and he's assisting." The other night, he broke into Chemistry to make medicine for someone, when there was medical staff online (though no chemist) and a medical borg. When confronted and told to leave, he stormed off to cryo and logged off. Another example of this sort of behavior comes earlier this week, when I, as an EMT, responding to a call in Cargo. McCoy came sprinting for his friend when I arrived, and actively tried to drag him off while I treated him to stabilize the victim. He insisted that he knew more than me, as I had to forcibly get him away. Later that same day, McCoy came into Medical during a viral outbreak and demanded that we clone his friend, Uswavn Guwan, over the HoP and dealing with the influx of patients, nearly assaulting two doctors in the process. He also used his access to get into the Morgue and drag Guwan's body out before we finally had Security force him to leave. I (thankfully) haven't had to control him much as the HoS, because he hasn't been in the round when I've been HoS anytime recently, but I have seen how he becomes a vigilante mob member, and yells and screams about how he will take down the person that dared looked the wrong way at his friend, or the traitor who dared to attempt to harm their friend. That in itself isn't so bad if it isn't some constant round of insults and screaming. What's terrible is that he will go to great lengths to obtain weaponry and armor, and then actively hunt for this person, interfering with Security in the process. I believe I've seen him accidentally shot by Security once because he threw himself into a confusing situation armed with a weapon he made or found.
