Vrow is an excellent RPer to interact with and a very detail-oriented person. I have no doubts in my mind that they will do splendidly with a synthetic whitelist and inspire others to play IPCs! I have a couple of curious questions if I may: 1) How does Adhama feel about being owned? 2) Does Adhama identify more with dregs or suits? Do they even identify with either and involve themselves in this Eridani (Eridanian? Eridanite???) conflict? Good luck with your application!

Hello. Thank you for taking the time to apply! The questions I will be asking are to gauge your strengths and weaknesses, as well as availability and capacity to write. There are no right or wrong answers, as a reminder! These first three can be as brief as you want, a sentence or two is fine unless you have a lot to say. Okay, job recruiter-like questions aside, these new few are what interest me the most. Also, one last thing to clarify: I myself am interested in adding it as I think it is a good foundation. However, there were concerns brought forward with the application, so I do not intend on accepting/denying it until those are worked out between lore staff, or with yourself. TLDR; I like it, need to talk it out with other staff.

The unathi main page is undergoing a split into two: a page for the Izweski Nation, and the remaining info for the main page. For now, that means the main page will get a bit bigger and get syntax changes and fixes. Notably: - Unathi got a pronunciation and word guide - Biology and Social sections got additions - Religion section was moved up and beefed up - Language section got changed https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Unathi

[ACCEPTED] Sk'akh religious symbols
Haydizzle replied to Zundy's topic in Lore Canonization Applications Archive
Hey! This has been a long time running, but Shen and I are accepting this application. The premise for a circle for Sk'akh, as well as a couple of toying ideas for the other religions, fits well with some ideas I have for the species. Application accepted! -
The unathi deputy slot is now open. I am looking for a deputy who can work with any of the following: write for a prompt, generate their own ideas, help correct inconsistencies in the lore, or any combination of the above. Most importantly, I need someone who is a team player, can collaborate with others, and can keep me updated! Please follow the application format, as well as doing one of the following while keeping in mind the themes of the species: 1) Write a wiki page addition! This is a novel piece of unathi lore of your own design, and written in the same way the other pages are. You can expand on an existing page or write a new one. Of course, this is a draft, so don't worry about HTML syntax and minor mistakes. 2) Retcon or rework a piece of lore! Give a premise of what changes, and an explanation why it's being changed. 3) Something of your own design! This can be developing drafts of clothes or items based on existing lore to be used in game (complete with descriptions, a wiki entry, and the like), writing a story about things existing in unathi lore (while introducing new ideas, places, people, or groups that may be good for adding to the lore), or what your feelings and thoughts are about the current state of the lore and what you feel the shortcomings and successes have been for current and previous unathi lore writers.

The intention was to outline their early life, as that had the most impact on them, even though they're a fair bit older now (around 60-70 is what I'm thinking currently). The expedition going into space was alluded to be a little after Glorsh disappeared ("Others postulated they were looking for the singularity.") and take place for about 40 years. However, they have spent a lot of their life in Jargon space, and only have a couple of smaller ideas about the galaxy beyond, so after finally getting enough money and reputation to relocate, they're heading to the Aurora. Currently, their opinion of all species is rather high, and they find each one to be enamoring and exciting. They went to college to study interpersonal relationships, stopped to work for a bit, pay off their dues, earn enough money to go back to college for a second time to study alien behaviors and dynamics. The traditional mixture of studying and getting internships for both were done. Basically, they did kindergarten aboard the ship, and around when they were 20-21, they came back to Federation space. I will likely be making them a head of personnel/counselor. Lots of tears I took a bit of time during the application to describe Qulari's feelings of envy and jealousy regarding his lack of psionic ability. I did consider perhaps having them go from being psionically deaf to being a very weak listener later on, mostly inspired by this part of the wiki that says, "... many Skrell report feeling attuned differently to the Wake at different points in their lives, while others filmly maintain they are one or the other". So far, if other skrell try to reach out telepathically to them, they will likely be a little annoyed, which can grow or subside if they are pestered further by it. Could you elaborate what you mean here? They were intended to actually be a bit of the opposite, so I think maybe my prose shot me in the foot here.

BYOND Key: Haydizzle Character Names: Kar'skalzi Bollu, Pokazli Tupoi-Rlakor, Porter de-Abaros, Alchemy, Dalask Caladius, Aerkor Hri'zok; those are the major ones. Species you are applying to play: Skrell. What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Light blue/cyan. Have you read our lore section's page on this species? Yes! Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: Skrell have a couple of distinct concepts overall that intrigue me. Being drawn towards science and perfecting a field, skrell have an scholarly pursuit to them that I personally really enjoy, as I've always been one to find little facts and share them with others, or be engaged with figuring out why things work the way they do. A very unified government is also something that no other species has due to them all fracturing; unathi are close, but they still have Dominia to compete with as well. Finally, the psionics have also really intrigued me, and I think playing a psionically deaf character would be fun! Someone who has always wanted to be really good with psionics, yet either has yet to gain psionic ability, or never will, is a concept I wanted to toy with somewhat. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: To rehash a bit, some of the reasons why I want to play this species are one in the same with why they are different. Psionic powers are something other species don't have, and the unified government is a trait endemic to skrell alone. There are also some other fun aspects setting them apart, such as not conveying emotion (in the same way as humans*), living longer than other species, and a deep concern for undoing the effects of Glorsh-Omega. Overall, I'm looking forward to capitalizing on the ideas and themes I've talked about, both for this question and the last, for my first character. Character Name: Qulari Skroda'jederr Please provide a short backstory for this character (approximately two paragraphs). The galaxy can and never will be fully explored. The void of stars expands faster than light can travel into it, always stretching and pulling things apart. A chief principle among the crew of the Weishii's Favor was their efforts paled in comparison to the vast void of the stars. This pessimistic belief, strangely enough, never deterred them; it was especially unclear to most aboard why many of their colleagues and friends were there. Some theorized it was the scientific pursuit of discovering the unknown. Others postulated they were looking for the singularity. A scant few saw this belief as a challenge, to still give it their all to find everything the stars had to offer them. Regardless of what anyone thought, they were there. These skrell were peering into the unknown, heading into Wild Space, putting their hand forth to grab the first signs of life and habitable planets they could find. The stars were their guide for both the physical and spiritual; where the light of the stars didn't shine, they knew there were objects in the void between the light and them, and thus, that is how they found gas giants of noble gases, asteroids filled with precious metals, and new systems with bizarre orbits. A pair of stargazers, as they were called among the crew, argued over discrepancies in constellations and discussed the possibilities of which stars would be the best to visit and explore. Time did not bring them together, but saw a bond that has not broken, merely reinforced itself. Contrary to the science they knew, the skrell of this charter were creatures of habit and routine, and never dared break it out of their own suspicion. To eat food alone was to invite tragedy; to hope for something aloud was more likely to bring it to fruition; to bear a clutch while going at warp speed would doom it to infertility. And yet, born from this circumstance, the stargazers bore their first and only. However, through their luck, the egg was raised under the Gnarled Tree, and thus the child suffered from the squid's affliction. A minor issue, they thought, though they did not want to take any chances, given their superstitions were right like a broken clock. The cutting performed, the child was left only with a slightly abnormal mouth and nothing more. The child grew up curious of the heavenly bodies they saw, extremely vigilant for other signs of life. Time and time again they remained disappointed, and the Poet drew up inside of them like a roaring river. They gawked and squabbled with the stargazers as they were brought up, though it became increasingly clear they did not fit in with the charter, the place that birthed them. The broken clock proved right once, now twice; the child was mute to the thoughts of others. The Second Dream was their only solace, and shying away from the First was the only way to stave off the writhing jealousy, a fierce kraken that latched onto any contempt that swam too close. Though not ones for it themselves, those that gaze into the stars helped the tadpole learn to still themselves and let their mind wander along the constellations. They saw this as their solution, but the Jiu’x’klua was grabbed by the kraken, and the young one learned to ignore the First Dream to avoid spilling crass words. After twenty years, the spawn of the stargazers came into their own, and after nearly two decades, the name was given. Each name crafted from the stars, especially fitting for the ones making up discovered constellations of various star systems; qu/la/ri for the three major stars of the Mediator. This came a few years before the charter's returning trip to the first pool, the spawn of the skrell. The 40 year charter for the Weishii's Favor had ended, so returning for new supplies was inevitable. Around now, the hatching egg began their transition into the bloated frog, leaping off from their first pond onto the icy lake, the center of learning for their kind. What do you like about this character? I went with a bit of an off the wall concept for my first skrell; I wanted to make a skrell born to a ship that was designed to explore the unknown reaches of space for many years before returning home. They are a bit headstrong and will likely draw ire from elder skrell, but they ultimately wish to learn and explore the reaches of the galaxy that they know has life in it. A lot of the reasons I listed before—being psionically deaf, figuring out the complexities of the universe—they play into this character as well. I'm looking forward to pestering a lot of humans with curious questions about their station. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I hate this question—7/10. Notes: I went a little overboard with the prose since I was feeling a little gay, so feel free to ask me for clarification on any of it! Oh yeah message me on Discord if you post a reply here, I will probably forget to check on this often. Do I get extra credit for posting skrell art?

I agree in the sense that non-canon events need some tweaking. I don't think the number of events that are ran in this way are problematic, but just ensuring 1) there are no votes after the round has started and 2) votes are more descriptive of what people are voting for would help I feel. Nienna's words of silly/serious, or other descriptors like drama/spooky/what have you is a good suggestion. It is important to say this is a bit... misleading I think? A lot of people here are also here for the community and staff in addition to the server atmosphere. To say that "well you should go play Bay if you want goofy RP" is not applicable to people who don't go to Bay because they don't enjoy the people there or similar. That and, just because some people want super serious RP all the time, does not mean others do not either. Some people do enjoy the break in monotony for a more light-hearted round every now and then, especially one with things and events that don't usually happen. "Meaningful roleplay" is subjective. What you may not find meaningful, other people do; in fact, there were three different people in my DMs gushing about the last noncanon event to take place, so I'd say overall it was meaningful to them and how their characters behaved. I find this also to be subjective. Three times a month means that, even if you played two rounds every day for the entire month, you still only have a like 10% chance of playing in one of those anyway. Besides, tower defense has only happened three times total, so if you don't want it to be a semi-round type it'll never come up at that rate.

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to apply. To cut to the chase, I thought the application capitalized on the lore well and shows understanding of the themes. A few questions: 1) What is Kizekraal's relationship with religion? Very pious or leaning away from it? 2) Does Kizekraal feel remorse or regret over his time with the Compact? 3) What led you to choose Zavodskoi over NanoTrasen when it comes to Kizekraal's employment? Zavodskoi contractors (in lore at least) are valued as serviceable and professional, so hiring a former pirate is an unusual pick. If you have any questions, wish to answer these in private, or want to notify me of a reply to this thread, feel free to contact me on Discord. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Visegrad Canonization Application
Haydizzle replied to Kintsugi's topic in Lore Canonization Applications Archive
Gave this another read and it looks good as a concept. I have more of a meta question though as the above questions shot at my other thoughts. The answer to this question struck me as odd. What is your intention on putting this up for canonization if the thought of it being changed is uncomfortable to a degree? -

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to apply. I will always condone long backstories; they are simply a delight for me to read, and the more someone has to write the better! With the longer ones too I try not to be too picky over finer details unless it is pertinent, and even then it is usually just a simple correction. As for the application itself, it shows a strong affinity for roleplaying, getting into character, and, most importantly, the lore itself. You go to great lengths to talk about key moments in the story, and while not a requirement, it is always very interesting to see how people characterize these moments and how they make their characters. I do have one question of value at the moment. The Unathi Religion page talks about how unathi can claim the soul of a different spirit; if you are born a warrior (man), you can claim one of a healer (woman). My question pertains to this: since Linha has never cared for womanly pursuits and has always had a fixation on becoming a true warrior, what has kept them from simply claiming the soul of a warrior? As I understand it, this is a big consideration since doing this would mean a lot of the conflict and drive in the backstory ceases to be as a result. -

Unathi Trapped in Tau Ceti! With the end of the invasion, Izweski forces have begun the process of returning back to Uueoa-Esa system. A portion of volunteer forces will remain to help distribute relief to those on Biesel and in surrounding space, helping the rest of the Republic of Biesel’s allies move medicine, provide food, and relocating those displaced by the brief conflict. By the mercy they show, the spirits are most pleased by sinta aiding their allies. The rest of the forces, largely levies, were previously expected to return home by now. Sources in Tau Ceti are reporting that the Republic of Elyra, in a bid to question Hegemon Not’zar’s honor, has shown caution. They are mandating sinta-led forces using the warp gate in Elyran territory may only send a portion of the troops at a time, ferrying them back to Hegemony space slowly, now that the conflict has ceased. Not’zar, in a measure of goodwill and faith, has gone along with the government of Elyra’s wishes, stating in brief, "[...] [he has] no ill-will towards the Republic." Such estimates as a result of this delay are predicting a return of most sinta to Izweski space a week from now. A majority of the Izweski’s honorable warriors will be stuck in space for the duration of the Keeping of Memories festival. A tragic time to not reconnect with those recently lost by the conflict! Many warriors are now flocking to Biesel, and Not’zar has paused many levy movements that would keep sinta stuck traveling during this sacred holiday until the Keeping of Memories has passed. The spirits be praised, for we will kindle their memories soon!

In my own opinion, being a former Kataphract is fine if you wish to be security or command, speaking in a broad sense. It would likely work the same way as the TCFL, in that being command/security and also a Saa or Zosaa is a conflict of interest. Otherwise, I would have no issues with say an engineering apprentice who is also a Kataphract-Hopeful. I will need to chat with Shen about it more in detail for a final decision and something to put on the wiki. There's not really anything on the lore page regarding this, and people have played Kataphract characters on station before, so as of right now it's pretty unclear and I apologize for that.

Not'zar Promises Aid to the Republic of Biesel! Hegemon Not’zar proves once again his honor as a warrior by showing mercy to the fledgling republic. In light of the crisis regarding the rogue fleet of the 35th Battalion heading towards Biesel, the Izweski have publicly announced their decision to aid the Coalition of Colonies and Republic of Elyra in sending reinforcements despite prior feuds with both polities. In a public statement, Not’zar speaks on the growing crisis: Overlord Zkaii'xay'yil has made a brief statement of her own in conjunction with Not'zar's regarding the K'lax of the Hegemony: Inside of Hegemon territory, able clan Lords are ordered to mobilize levies towards a number of populous strongholds for the Izweski, and healers are to be lent to the effort as well to provide their expertise. Some of the levies are to be assigned to the Kataphracts and Hopefuls in Tau Ceti space to coordinate, and some of the healers will be enlisted as Tau Ceti Foreign Legion medical specialists. Non-sinta on Ouerea are not required to draft but are encouraged to do so nonetheless should they wish to be honorable. Since the last few conflicts in Biesel space, Kataphracts have found themselves in higher numbers in the area; fighting off xenofauna, the prior Solarian invasion, and other events in the last few years have earned the region a reputation among those seeking glory and fame. This works to the Hegemon’s advantage as he has sent an order for their immediate aid as reinforcements for the Republic until the bulk of the levies arrive. The K’lax have been called upon to assemble levies across Tret and move them to the nearest spaceport. A number of Warforms have also been called into action, last seeing use during the brief internal conflict earlier this year. These warforms have artillery cannons built onto their backs, and will be used for supporting other forces, whereas the main K’laxan levy will be composed of K’laxan Kataphract Hopefuls and Warriors armed with energy glaives and shields. The spirits will guide us and our allies found through turmoil to victory!
