  1. Due to popular request, I've been working on fleshing out a popular Dionaea spirituality thing that will be available as a basis at some point.
  2. That's fair. And it was mostly a personal feeling - but know what? Your record's clean, and that's more than can be said than many great players I approved, so I'm willing to give you a go. Just remember that the Dionaea are on a two-strike policy. One unsavory report and you risk a warning. Another one, and should both of them be valid complaints, you're stripped. Enjoy your whitelist. If there's any issues, PM either me or Shadow (the administrator).
  3. That would explain that. I'd expect someone to read Baystation's base first then complement with the most relevant information (aka Aurora's) but whatever. As for what conflicts - unless I forgot to write it down, Aurora's dionaea are not quite as passive as Baystation's. They're allowed to have an agenda and to do things in regards to that agenda - whether it is staying alive because they're the only members of their gestalt, or being security because it benefits their host gestalt. (As for the timestamp - hover over the bottom right corner of post to see when they were posted) I'm slightly hesitant, but then again right now I'm rather busy. I will be passing judgement in a few hours.
  4. Hello hello! Sorry for the delays. I have a question though: when was it that you read the wiki entry? Just curious.
  5. That works for me. Enjoy your Dionaea, PM me if there's any issues, and don't bring dishonor to the species.
  6. Hello hello! Sorry for the delays, have been busy lately. Though I have a question. What do you mean by "bringing a hint of the mystery"?
  7. BYOND key: Killerhurtz Character names of all involved: OH BOY. I remember Phoebe Essel, Safiya, Poslan... But it was basically the whole server. Documentation of the event, Link to post/Screenshot in game. If multiple screenshots please compose an album: None available at the moment Have you read the application rules??: Yes Have you made sure this incident didn't result in administrative action? Does it count if the event was CAUSED by administrative action? It was an event. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Why does this moment deserve a spot in the Hall Of Fame?: Because, simply put, it was a magnificent event where the residents of the Aurora (before we temporarily moved to the Exodus) got to first organize some emergency supplies due to Central warning them that something was coming in a collision course. Then they got to organize a scientific EVA party to explore those objects for valuables. Then they got to hold on for dear life as nightmare smoke started spreading from the asteroids, spawning nightmare creatures that started slaying people. Some people fled to the outposts (a scientist even dragging a corpse there for study - which was a bad move), and some people fought back (only to be violently slain when they discovered that moving the bodies caused more nightmare smoke). The showdown lasted a solid two hours, most people being slain (except like 3 scientists at their outpost, the engineers at theirs, and some of security as they barricaded their department), at which point the shuttle was sent due to vote. Except that no one expected that half the departures shuttle would have turned into one of the hell asteroids. A brave mining borg drilled the way to inside, where people rushed in as security held the incoming masses of nightmare creatures that followed the people as they evacuated to departures. Then the shuttle left. What was hoped to be a simple, if not grim ride, turned into chaos as the asteroid spawned more creatures, resulting in a 10-minute gauntlet where most crew hid in the non-infected regions of the shuttle as security fought off the creature. The gauntlet came to a height when, roughly a minute before docking with Central, the hell asteroid spawned in three Xenomorphs and a Queen. Security successfully bullfighted the whole set for the remainder of the trip. At docking, everyone successfully snuck by them to reach Central Command. Are you certain we are all laughing together are not shaming someone?: Fuck yes, I am certain that we are all laughing together as this was a voted, player-driven event who have seen no single player at the focal point - everyone was equally and equivalently fucked in face of the event. Final thoughts/anything you want to add?: TUIIEEVENT BEST EVENT
  8. So. If I understand, the Dionaea need to be more wierd, not warrior and consume nuclear fuel like candy. Good to hear that I'm not doing so terribly, though.
  9. So. While I've been working on writing things for Dionae (nothing released yet - more of possible events and stuff, nothing that matters right now) I feel like I've been neglecting the more... public side of the lore. And so, what I'm saying is, this is a new feedback thread. I've had requests to write about possible Dionaea spirituality/beliefs, and that's coming, but... What do YOU want to read about? What would you like to know about the species? What do you want to see with the Dionae?
  10. That makes sense, actually. I'll allow it, but be careful - I don't know if you had seen it, but Dionaea players are on a two-strike system right now. So yes, approved. PM me if there's anything.
  11. Alrighty, so. For the first point, I just want to say - be careful with that, as it can easily lead to terribleness. As for the rest - it was quite interesting interpretations - especially where you took photographic memory from. Quite enjoyable. And I chuckled at the mention of the prisoners case. Though I have more questions. If Branch was not part of the hijacking gestalt, what was it doing there? (And what I meant by the "teaching it how the ship works" was that I thought Branch was part of the hijacking gestalt, and that they ended up teaching a hijacker how the ship worked) But yes - be very careful as an antag. Talk to the mods/admins if necessary.
  12. OK so. Sorry for the delays, got sidetracked several times. There's a few things that irk me: You mention regularly Dionaea physical might. Is this something you plan on involving in any future characters? I'm not sure I remember saying they have a photographic memory OR a will of iron in general, so if you could provide excerpts to refresh my memory... Powerful force politically? Like what? I don't remember mentioning much culture either. Mind helping me remember? Question. Why would they keep a Dionaea prisoner from a gestalt that was known to hijack the very thing they took it prisoner with? Why did that gestalt take the ship anyway? Is it simply to imitate one of the discovery points? Side note, it's not very effective if something survived. Yes. Because the most logical course of action, for people who captured a creature capable of taking over ships, is teaching it how the ship works. Myes. Myes. A creature who arguably killed at least a dozen people by hijacking something would be just made a citizen. Yess. You say that, as an antag, your RP skill drops to 2. There is already a large issue with Dionaea antags being, for the lack of a better term, "complete shitters". How can I know such a situation will not arise? Overall, the initial feel leaves me reluctant to grant you a whitelist. So let's talk for a little.
  13. I'd enjoy it just to make sure I didn't miss anything.
  14. Only if paperwork for equipment requisition was not filled. That is less of an issue, to be honest. That, or if it's used to aid an undesirable behavior like validhunting or such.
  15. So. I got word that I have done mistakes and that some Dionaea players/characters have become notoriously... Bad to deal with. And so I'm announcing that I will be more closely monitoring the players and dishing out warnings. I will be a lot more strict, and will give all players exactly ONE warning for bad behavior before stripping the whitelist. Some guidelines: -While combat-ready dionae are a thing, they would be CLOSELY watched and most likely blacklisted from everything but security. This includes gestalts with knowledge of firearms. -While I do give some leeway, dionaea DO have a sense of self preservation in most cases and so standard "avoid damage" and "don't hunt without a valid reason if it's not your job" apply. Stay out of danger. -It's not because Dionaea on average got better knowledge that powergaming is allowable. Stay reasonable. That being said, this enforcement is in effect as of now. Sorry for letting this go out of control, and sorry to the players affected by the less than good dionaea.
  16. Mechanics-wise, it's a balance thing. Lore-wise their method is not perfect. Also something that was omitted, skrellian and taj language are not part of the languages they can learn to speak due to lore reasona. Feedback appreciated, I will mull and discuss it. The reason is critical loss of body mass. They retain some info, but simply do not have the thought mass to 100% retain everything they learned (hence why it's a chance to remember and not just a forget).
  17. TL;DR no. Long story: Fuck no. The purpose of the nymph nutrition was to one, balance out the split power (because 200 ticks is arbitrary and cheap for people who go against it) and to provide mechanica justification as to how a cat-sized creature could morph up to be a man-sized thing. Grown gestalts do not need such nutrition as they have a sufficient body mass to absorb enough air to heal anything short of a limb being lopped off (can you even lop off a dionae arm? Ingame). At that point, energy is the biggest expense towards healing. The only reason we should allow gestalts to eat is to allow them to grow to bigger forms, and that is not something I want to happen normally (but that's a secret).
  18. Ok so since apparently my phone ate my post, here goes first review: First, your name evoked aome bad bells from me. But let's ignore that. Second, your notes history is not very flattering. Without going into the details, it paints you as someone very prone to situational dumbness (I can make sure the details are forwarded to you if you request it). How can we be sure that such a thing will not be a problem should you be trialed? Third, word goes that you are hosting a server. Is it public? If it is, how can you assure us that it won't interfere with your moderation duties? Do you feel capable of moderating two servers at once? Fourth and finally, the reason. You stated that you wish to be moderator as a form of redemption. Do you know this paints you in a bad light? "I fucked up in the past, to let me make up for it please give me one of the more powerful roles on the server". Not very convincing, and to be honest slightly worrisome. On top of that, any other comments you would like to add after thinking?
  19. I'll be straight up here. Work ethic is good, no problem there. But Nanako has a high friction personality that I don't know will mesh well at all with the existing dev team. And for that reason alone I say - while I invite and welcome them to do more contributions, it would be best done outside the role of a code dev - nothing more than a codemonkey. So TL;DR: -1 unless the code team wants to deal with a stubborn, strongheaded high-friction person, if yes then +1
  20. I will be monitoring this thread and probably give input somewhere this week
  21. Closing as rejected. Sorry garn, you're going to have to take your dickwaving elsewhere. (Just kidding I'd be a fool. Approved, closing and archiving, you know where to poke me if you got questions, comments, suggestions, memes or if it somehow didn't work.)
  22. Personally I approve. Replace the booze-o-matic with a "meal-in-a-cup" dispenser (or simply make a "tray" that is like a beaker but not) where the lunchman/lunchlady can distribute food. The Chef makes better food than the reheated rehydrated crap that comes in these dispensers. Keep the cafeteria clean and fancy, though. Because as it stands, IMO, alcohol is a tool that dates from the days of pre-Aurora code where acting drunk is funny, and should be removed (because let's face it - except maybe the Captain or during head-sanctioned events, where it could be ordered from Cargo, being drunk on the job is the easiest ticket to getting fired). It should also be made more of a social place - and to bolster that, there could even be a "random" (not sure if 100% random or at fixed intervals during rounds) where a "lunch time bell" rings, giving the players some time to fetch food and talk at the cafeteria like, you know, a real workplace. It would bolster RP, would get rid of a silly mechanic, and generally would feel more relevant to the game - without mentioning that it diversifies the amount of food available by default to people (instead of just eating loaves of bread and raisins - these cafeteria foods would have higher nutrition) AND would allow the interesting mechanic of poisoning the whole food chain or allow emagging the machine for interesting results. And THEN it also allows whoever chooses that role (which I can see being people who want to work in food-related stuff without being the chef) to make up menus based on what's available, and for people to bitch about "shitty cafeteria food".
  23. Basically, from my experience, they're too stubborn, head-strong and just can't take "no" or "you're wrong" as an option. Without mentioning that I feel they have views on how the gameplay should be (most notably that things should be done a single way to be done right) and a feeling I have that they would be overbearing in micromanagement makes me feel they may not be ready for a Head position.
  24. Judgement has been passed. Closing and archiving as requested from overseer.
  25. -1. To be honest I'm sort of afraid of someone like Nanako holding a Head position. Without mentioning that all characters except one have the same first name (which just so happens to match their username).
