Clue the Movie (1985) mentioned Good movie you should all watch it

My 2-cents. Engineering fills up pretty quick. Considering it can consistently get nearly all of its slots filled most high-pop rounds is a pretty good indicator that the department is doing good. Plus, during expeditions the extra manpower helps a lot. Or crazy rounds where major damage might occur. I think it's fine the way it is. (We should add more fluff RP stuff similar to those maintenance panels but that's not for this thread)

Garold runs for Tajeputy - Tajara Lore Deputy Application
CatsinHD replied to VeteranGary's topic in Developer Applications
Apologies for the delay. Another question to clarify things: 4. You have stated you main interest is cleaning up the wiki. Being in the Deputy role involves brainstorming, editing, and writing of documents/news articles. What is your stance on these duties of the role? -

rejected Kelnor's Tajara WL application
CatsinHD replied to Kelnor's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Hi! Thank you for applying. While there is a good foundation for a character here, the overall application reads as unfinished and doesn't touch on major aspects of the species lore sufficiently (namely the 2nd Revolution). For these reasons, I will be denying your application. You may reapply in 3 days (18th of September). -

Alam’ard Ordered to Protect Phoron Shipments 12.09.2467 In response to calls by the Royal Constabulary, Royal Peacekeepers, and NanoTrasen Corporation, Field-Marshal Vyakelas Klyuchevsky has officially assigned Alam’ard forces to the escorting of the Kingdom’s phoron shipments. This action comes following numerous attacks the past two days, leading to further pressure from NanoTrasen for action to be taken. The deployment of the Alam’ard to this end has been acknowledged by the corporation. The new escorts have already begun proving their effectiveness with shipments earlier today. Two noted attempts were made on trains carrying phoronic cargo south of Kaltir and east of Baltor. In both cases, debris had covered the tracks before the train had been engaged with gunfire. The Alam’ard forces were quick to respond, and reportedly subdued a number of the bandits before they had fled. Due to risks involved with leaving the train, troops were unable to investigate the bandit casualties. Reports from the soldiers suggest these bandits were not organized. The deployment of soldiers received mixed reactions across the Crown Government. Grand Admiral Mahtrra Dynhaas firmly dissented the decision, stating that the expeditionary force marines were a far better choice in spite of the performance seen today. Prince Serhiy Oliinyk called the deployment a gross overstep of military authority into the jurisdiction of civilian law enforcement. Queen Azunja reaffirmed her support for the decision, and emphasized the effectiveness of the troops seen today.

Phoron Banditry on the Rise! NanoTrasen Demands Better Protection 06.09.2467 This past week, the Raakti Shariim reported a notable uptake in phoron-related banditry between the Kaltir spaceport and NanoTrasen factories in the Harr’nrri Peninsula. Provincial Constabularies have engaged these bandits on numerous occasions in efforts to keep our roadways safe. However, bandit gangs in the region have proven to be well-supplied. Current investigation cites the most likely origin of these individuals to be Adhomai Liberation Army deserters from the Revolution, using old caches and equipment in their effort to eke by through the destruction of the local populace’s efforts. In the previous years since the armistice, these bandit gangs have been kept at bay by the dutiful Royal Constabulary and Raakti Shariim. It is currently unknown what has led to the recent uptake in attacks. The focus of these thefts is phoron bound for corporate industries. This precious resource is sourced by the NanoTrasen Corporation, and is what lays the groundwork for advanced technology across the Spur. The Crown and Parliament have taken noted interest in the element as the Kingdom continues to grow towards its destined future, as it will be a necessary tool to match the Spur. With access to phoron, factories are capable of operating faster, leading to cheaper goods for all. However, the material is expensive, which makes it an alluring target for bandits across the nation. NanoTrasen has demanded increased protection by the Royal Constabulary. They note that the lost phoron has cost far more than is acceptable, and as such they have had to raise prices of select goods across the nation. Idris Incorporated, another partner corporation that has seen recent expansions in the Kingdom’s lands, has offered its own protection services, however no agreements have been made as of yet. Queen Shumaila Azunja did not respond when approached by the Royal Telegraph for comment. Unrest has been growing in Baltor over the rise in cost of NanoTrasen goods. Getmore, a subsidiary of the NanoTrasen Corporation, has been lambasted by much of the petty nobility for the unnecessary increase in prices at store fronts. Additionally, NanoTrasen produced goods have been in shortage recently. The company further blames lackluster protection of infrastructure, and undersized railways. This has yet to quell the concerns of the Kingdom’s urban dwellers, who continue to voice their dissent against the alien corporation. Parliament discussed the concerns of the corporations earlier today. Grand Duke Akym Yudenikh suggested the use of Idris’s services, and a further expansion of present contracts with the PMCG. Grand Admiral Mahtra Dynhaas fervently opposed the suggestion, pointing out the weakness shown by handing enforcement duties to corporations, especially those xeno corporations. He further called for the nationalization of the NanoTrasen factories as a means to remove the reliance of phoron, and thereby removing the incentive for phoron banditry outright. Count Tscherim Sangusckho offered support to Grand Duke Yudenikh, so long as phoron could be utilized for expeditions into the North Pole. Queen Shumaila promptly ended discussion on the matter.

Garold runs for Tajeputy - Tajara Lore Deputy Application
CatsinHD replied to VeteranGary's topic in Developer Applications
Thank you for applying! Just a couple of questions. 1. Could you expand on what is meant with this? 2. A large part of the lore writing process is iterative and collaborative. What is you experience with the reviewing process and having your writing reviewed? 3. You mentioned that you would like to see more flashpoints in the Cold War, which would come from article arcs. Is there an idea for such an arc or a region where one would be particularly interesting? -
This is true to an extent. However, some of that comes down to the scrutiny of each location. In this case, the rule is quite specific: If a persistent object exists in a room where confidential material may be stored, and that room may be occupied by entities not permitted to see that material, then it cannot be persistent. If multiple interest groups can occupy a given area, and that area carries a level of confidentiality, then no persistence. Various nations are at odds, as well as various corporations. Given the offices are generic, it would be detrimental for them to be persistent. That also helps CCIA not have to deal with cases of John Sol seeing confidential details from Adam Biesel which is a mess to deal with. This rule should be applied universally, however the only instances where this exists currently are the rep and consular offices as they are unique in of themselves. Adding an examine tooltip for whether an object is non-persistent would be useful regardless.

The key is what's presently locked in the CMO office for one reason or another. Even with a second box of inhalers, refills are needed dependant on how busy a round gets. If the second box isn't desired as it provides too much, then it should be removed from the CMO office and/or placed in the ops cargo list. The autoinjector box is sorta whatever. Useful for making cocktails that can be used by anyone but are not flexible enough for general medical use imo. This is sorta getting off-topic though, so I guess I'll end my thoughts with I don't think changes are required

This would honestly make Paramedic worse off as a role. The main gameplay loop of Paramedic is retrieving patients and emergency medical care. Retrieving patients is really basic and could be done with an orderly. Emergency medical care (assessing a patient, stabilizing them, etc.) is the bulk of the fun, imo. Giving people more than inap devalues the loop for Paramedic, especially when inap is, as was mentioned, fine for most situations to hold you over until a proper medical professional arrives. I'm chill with anti-rads for certain roles, but those are present where they are needed: Engineering. Ironically, engineering gets as much anti-rad medication as medical does on round start. At least 1 whole radiation kit (3-4 rad pouches) for engineering compared to medical's 3 rad pouches across 3 separate nanomed minis. I do agree pharm should get more autoinjectors. And inhalers. Idk why some are locked away in the CMO's office. Larger autoinjectors could be a science item.

Public Housing Works to Begin in Shastar City and Mztel’mir As part of the continued efforts to expand the nation’s urban centers, President Almrah Harrlala and Governor Fartul have announced the expansion of public housing works in Shastar City, Mztel’mir, and local ruralities. Housing in the Das’nrra state has been a hot topic as the urban centers continue to grow under the vision of the National Adhomai Worker’s Party. With the case of “urban flight”, as it has now been dubbed by academics, many ruralities have seen younger workers enter urban centers such as Shastar City for better pay and amenities. However, with such cases it has led to the stressing of previously constructed housing. In a speech yesterday at the steps of the Das’nrra state capitol, Governor Fartul announced the plans. Over the following five years, he intends to double the housing capacity of all urban centers in the state. President Almrah Harrlala continued on to point out the economic benefits that come with major construction. The speech was met with praise by those present, and later by members of the Worker’s Party and People’s Party. During the final stages of the speech, local proponents of the Blue Party formed a protest against the urbanization of the nation and destruction of Adhomai’s natural beauty. President Harrlala promised the construction efforts would be designed around the local environment to preserve what was left of Shastar City’s local environment. In the National Assembly, legislation was proposed by Worker’s Party representatives to nationalize the housing project, and expand it to Southern Ras’nrr. Met with staunch resistance, Bakhteiarova Mirzakhani disregarded the proposal as nothing more than the destruction of Southern Ras’nrr’s culture and further encroachment on Adhomai’s beauty. Ex-interim President Brajrr Alnadruskiy called for the expansion of the proposal to lands under the Rhaza-Akhran to boost industrialization and lay the groundwork for continued growth of arms production. Maksym Razin raised the idea of incorporating S’rand’marr and Ma’ta’ke temples into the design of new public housing. The proposal was tabled. Local construction companies will begin clearing of sites in the following weeks. No set date for final construction has been declared.

I will re-enter the convo with my own suggestions. These are mostly from cursory delves into the terminology and description of what that title does so as to not mix up job titles (like machinist) I think my suggestions would be: Maintenance Technician Only mentions for Zha's suggestion is that I think Reactor Engineer works equally as fine as Reactor Technician and Electromechanic is a better term for Electro-mechanical technician (which is what the title would be, typically) Atmos tech Atmospheric Technician Propulsion Technician/Engineer Damage Control Technician/Fire Technician (Damage control technician works here, but might give a bad impression)
-
In theory it shouldn't, since arguably the work engineers do on the ship are mostly technician's duties (installation and repair of existing systems, not the design of novel solutions). Would the SCC rather full engineers just in case? idk, maybe. My main concern would be the qualifications required for the position rather than the duties. I also defer to someone with more experience/knowledge in these things than an engineering (technology) student and google searches.
-
I do like many of the alternative names! However I have a comment/suggestion: We should standardize technician vs engineer. To steal from an article, "In short, and with some generalization: Technicians tend to fix or install systems or products that already exist, while engineers design and build from the ground up." (Interesting Engineering - What’s the Difference Between an Engineer and a Technician?) I'd rather technician, but I reckon the maintainers will have their own thoughts on the matter. Is it very semantical and edges on the cliche "medmain irl therefore this is what should be implemented"? Yeah. Take it as you will. Otherwise, the wiki regardless of the result of the PR will be updated to address all alt-titles sharing the same duty. Perhaps one day we will see a return in alt-titles...

I'm personally of the mind that having 2 helper roles for a single command support role is a bit much. Aides are fine. Aides and bodyguards is a lot, especially for just 1 person. Neat idea, it's just something that needs to be either/or imo. Either you get an aide, or you get a bodyguard. Not both. Admittedly, I also do agree with some opinions questioning the need for a gun or bodyguard. While I can understand the paranoia of say a DPRA, Sol, and Dominia consular, they are promised the protection of the Security department. But that's not here or there. For the specific scope of whether bodyguard stays, I'm for reverting. It was an understandable idea, the execution was fine, it just turns out the idea in practice isn't ideal.

Kinda dumb :W1SSE: wait so what’s the point. we get less?? :A-LINE: More revenue. Training and equipment or whatever is cheap compared to rev bump.
