[ACCEPTED] Melariara IPC Whitelist - The Beepening.
Faye <3 replied to Melariara's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
i hate mel she sucks do not give her the WL +1 -
Not a fan. We're not a navy. If a captain is needed and there is no captain, we have acting captaincy already. As well, it's too er, larpy.
-
agree with this very much. the guns are fine and being in combat scenarios doesn't make us milsim, but i think a lot of people are worried that it could lead to something more in that area which is something i feel many people would be against. (general quarters, etc). maybe cael / luca input on this would ease some peoples' worries?

i don't really think that the Horizon having the Leviathan (a gun that dumpsters small pirate vessels and light cruisers ala the ghost-role SFA ships, but would be mostly ineffective against an actual fighting ship) and being sent as auxiliary support to defend against people who want a nuke is going to be the slipping on a banana peel and falling down a slip-n-slide into tacticool milsim RP. aurora is pretty far from mil-sim, and i think that people being upset over character restrictions are going to have to give a little. it doesn't make a super lot of sense for some podunk engineer from jupiter or w/er to go "oh we're going to valley wherever-the-fuck to stop pirates from making a bomb? cool!" and not be understandably upset, but i don't believe that will be the norm going forwards and a big component of collaborative roleplay is suspending our disbelief. we do it all the time. how many shells and other expensive IPCs do we see in-game who were freed through unusual / uncommon ways act with independence and security and somehow have full-sized apartments on a robot's pay? a shitload! how does this compare to the rest of the IPCs in the Spur? way off! part of writing and collaborating as a community is suspending your disbelief for the sake of the people you're writing with, and hoping they'll do the same for whatever quirkiness you're writing with your deviantart ass OCs. (me included!) additionally, the aurora literally had gigafuck hellchungus commando frogs and a scooby doo monster in the maintenance tunnels, as well as having been boarded fifty thousand million times by a rogue's gallery to put batman to shame, and people still played saccharine-sweet-rot-your-teeth security cadets and uwu medical physicians, so i personally think it's only as big of a problem as you make it for yourself. i think the bad faith arguing here is super unwarranted and just like, high-school tier rude. frankly, some of y'all seemed happier not playing Aurora. personally, i was kind of bored by the current arc. it felt obtuse and opaque looking outwards-in, and i never really knew what the hell was going on. i also kind of found it hard to care. i think in the future, we should be more conservative with our gun-battles. save'em for key moments so it's a real "oh shit" moment when the guns are loaded. i think what's really exacerbating the milsim concerns is that for this event arc, we never really got to talk with anyone who weren't jarheads or bureaucrats supporting those jarheads. in the future, I think having some more friendly faces would be nice, or being able to talk to people without worry they'll fuck the crew over or stab us in the back. i don't think this is a condemnation of anyone or any team in particular - the NBT is still relatively new, and i'm sure that future arcs will be a bit more lowkey. sidenote: please, please, please for the love of god use the command sub-section to post command briefings for us command mains who miss an event. it felt like i never knew what the fuck was going on this arc and it was a pain to try and incorporate in my character when i missed a round.

I think it's personally, very poor form for paramedics to be taking butazolene or dermaine. Maybe if there's no one in the GTR, but if there's a physician then those wounds won't kill you as long as you bandage, salve and treat for pain. Encouraging FRs to carry non-emergency, if-i-don't-give-this-to-him-he'll-die chems not only make it more likely for them to step into the GTR, but infringes upon the physician's job. If there's a FR, physician and surgeon, and someone comes in with broken bones and brute damage from gunshot wounds and the FR already gave butazoline, they may as well be wheeled directly to the OR because there's nothing for the physician to do except for maybe getting a scan and making sure they're on an IV. in my opinion, i think what separates a good FR player from a great FR player is being able to understand that just because you can treat near everything barring surgery (not including fringe cases like damaged eyes, etc), doesn't mean you should. it's important to make sure you're leaving stuff for GTR.

i like this idea but not broadcasting 'general quarters'. no one outside of sec rlly has to worry about 'battle stations'. just say the gun is firing lol. makes us feel like a milrp ship it's also perhaps the dorkiest thing ive ever heard.
-
i would support and like this as long as the titles did not separate what the intern can do. a surgical resident still needs to learn their chems and stuff like a physician b/c they're needed in the ORs
-
always found it weird Zeng Hu didn't hire roboticists. they've created one of the frames we have in-game, and are one of the largest producers of robots in the spur. would make total sense for machinist to be in RnD or medical so that Zeng Hu roboticists could exist.

[Accepted] Kelnor - Command White List Application
Faye <3 replied to Kelnor's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
agree w/flpfs. i think this person can play cmo, just not now. i would say you need more time in the oven, so to speak. Hailey is not the kind of character I could see as a CMO, as well. she is too casual and kind of buddy-buddy with other characters, and doesn't really feel like anyone's boss. it kind of feels like she's a high schooler meeting her friends with some other characters, rather than a boss of the dept. i can see that you have a lot of your friends here in the comments supporting you, and that's great and i'm glad they're excited, however medical can feel a little bleh if you're not part of Hailey's friend group. I think you need to play medical as a doctor a bit longer and work on making Hailey feel more like command instead of just another doctor w/the premium hypo. i would not want to see you playing captain because i do not think your grasp of the setting is solid enough. -
would rather die than have someone backseating me yelling in my ear

[Accepted] Owen / YouJustGotOwened - Moderator Application
Faye <3 replied to Owen's topic in Moderator Applications Archives
i see no reason 2 deny them and all the reasons to bring them on. -
my biggest gripe as a command main who didn't play any of the events was that it was very difficult to try and play a command character who still knew what was going on. if you weren't on the event, you lost your chance to know what was going on after each event except through hearsay and recollection from other players. which is not reliable. in the future, i'd really appreciate it if each event had an "after action" post in the command subforum that describes what's going on, any changes in the horizon's external relations, ettc.

Hi! You should edit this post using the format found at this link. You can also look at other player's IPC whitelists for examples of a completed app.

Codify minimum requirements for group shuttle expeditions.
Faye <3 replied to Boggle08's topic in Policy Suggestions
I am not opposed to this idea but I would be reluctant to mandate that an expedition has to have a security presence. I play a lot of HoS, and when it's time to send an officer on an expedition, rarely do people ever want to go and I usually end up having to force someone. I think a lot of officers try to shirk expeditions because the antagonists are on-ship, and if they're missing all of the fun because they're escorting an anomalist and shooting simple mobs, well, that's not very fun and I don't really blame them for not wanting to go. I would much prefer the expedition shotguns be buffed, and just allow the expedition members to defend themselves. -
FRs shouldn't be doing GTR things period. You can, and will be bwoinked for it if someone notices unless literally no one else (physicians, CMO, surgery) can attend the GTR. FRs who do GTR things shouldn't be.
-
nothing says psychologists have to do medical stuff. if someone tells you to treat someone, say you don't know how.
-
This is cool! Maybe the can could be packed and imported from New Gibson?
-
i think this would make FR'ing a lot less fun b/c trying to do it without sensors really sucks. IMO maybe the functionality could be added to the radio jammer? jammer turns on, and then anyone who's in the radius is either dropped from sensors, or their sensors freezes to what they were before entering the radius
-
u get suit sensors on your PDA and you can drag it over to an unused part of ur screen. i do this all the time on my FR b/c it lets me RP and eye sensors. anyone who's sitting in the lobby is either doing it by choice or is unaware of it being on your PDA.

Reporting Personnel: Shirin Abbasi Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Head of Security Personnel in Question: Joint-32 Job Title of Personnel in Question: Engineer Reason for Review: [x] - Extended Arrest History [] - Grievous Infraction on Record [ ] - Other: Possible malfunctioning programming as an owned IPC. Notes: Joint-32 is a Hephaestus owned engineering unit. Their attitude is continuously atrocious. Review request originates from a shift wherein Joint-32 refused to state ETA on power return to security department, said "Pay attention to your radio in the future, Abbasi. I'm not repeating myself." Claimed to have sabotaged security's power by intentionally shorting the department on energy allotment as a "suck penalty". When told they would be met with neglect of duty charges, walked the joke back and said "Brig me. Your department has power, you complete moron." Behavior unacceptable for an owned IPC,- potentially deviant programming. Their record also bears other concerning charges.

An awkwardly timed Eridani rewrite
Faye <3 replied to Montyfatcat's topic in Lore Canonization Applications Archive
strongly against renaming Eridanian planets after Egyptian deities again. remnant of oldlore and it doesn't match eridani's cultural background. Elyra struggles enough 2 get players as it is. everyhing else is cool, giving suits a reason 2 socialize would be nice -
You admit here you used the chaotic situation and subsequent messy communication of the round to let the warden think the sedition charge was from me. Should the Warden have listened to you? No. Did the Warden make a mistake? Yes. But this would not have happened without your intervention. You admit your character is a dick, and contrarian. One of the core elements of playing an IPC is that the laws are usually biased against you. Instead of expecting people to indulge your character and lessen the punishment because of it's severity, you should try to incorporate the knife-edge legal system that IPCs exist in and have them be much more careful with their actions given the regulations harsh stance on IPCs. I stand by my decisions. Additionally, Mutiny covers not only the physical action, but advocating and supporting it. You aided someone who was meant to be HuT on mutiny charges, which makes you guilty also.
-
Hi, sure. I can go over this and give my thoughts. There was no reply because that round was extremely chaotic and busy, in addition to my being a mod and all of the logs and such that come with it. Sometimes I miss things. You were charged because it was you who convinced the Warden to disobey orders and downgrade the charge to sedition instead of mutiny. You may not be able to charge people, but it was you who repeatedly told the warden what to charge the reporter with against orders. Command decided that all infected (read, vampires and their supporters) were to be charged with mutiny. The reporter was not violent himself, no, but he was supporting the violence through his broadcasts and support of the antags. You purposefully and intentionally lowered a mutineer's sentence (resulting in his release!) against direct Head of Department orders because you personally disagreed, and then told the Head of Security to "fight you over it" and now you're surprised you wound up being charged? I originally had 32 suspended and charged with failure to comply with orders, but Voight suggested Mutiny given 32 aided and abetted someone who was themselves charged with mutiny and their actions resulted in someone who was supposed to be HuT for a severe crime walking free. Persuading the warden to drop it to a sedition charge also put a lot of suspicion on your character, given some people in the crew had become compromised and supported the antagonists. Given the multiple officers lost, several dead antagonists, and shoot-outs in the hallways, Shirin felt this was fair given the gravity of the situation.

SinfulBehaviors' Command Application
Faye <3 replied to SinfulBehaviors's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
i think for this u may have 2 tone the char back a bit. you can't really have a command character threatening 2 hunt ppl of diff viewpoints down and threatening them. command has diff behavior expectations -
awful mentality when you do things that affect everyone man. if more than a few people are saying “hey i do not want the amount of lounges reduced” then i would think that should be taken into consideration
