I don't see how Amara Nasr could be an XO. She, if I'm honest, talks like she's just come off the boat from Adhomai. These are collected from one round I played with her. I think you should diversify a bit, as I've only seen you play kind of quiet Tajara who lack fluency in Basic. Additionally, when playing antag, you tend to escalate strangely, like detonating and venting much of the station with no escalation, or killing yourself while trying to steal the Intrepid over an intoxication charge.

I agree with Boggle's suggestion. Given that comms are compromised nearly every antag round, it's essentially pageantry and re-inacting the same "oh no! Comms are compromised?! Let's all use PDA now!" song and dance. It would frankly just be more fun for security as well, because you can nearly never plan something out unless you go through the trouble of making a PDA chatroom (that antags can still see, mind you) or hold an in-person meeting. The fact that all comms access is a guarantee is, imo, very oppressive for security. It isn't much fun. Making comms key purchasble for something cheap like 1 or 2 TC would make things much less predictable.

Removing someone's memory - in essence, making them unable to play their character in a way that isn't just killing them - is very uninteresting as well as borderline griefing of another person's round imo, and reminds me of the way I felt when a wizard staff of change'd someone into a different species. I think this is a bad idea for that reason.

Head of Security begone: Long live the Chief of Security.
Faye <3 replied to KingOfThePing's topic in Archive
Chief Security Officer sucks. It isn't a good title. It sounds like a middle management role, not the head of the department. The PR will now be "Chief Security Officer" per a "maintainer decision." It sounds horrible. A sudden maintainer change of the PR should be announced better. -
Per https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/13650, there was apparently a maintainer decision to change "Head of Security" into "Chief Security Officer". CSO is a terrible, terrible title. It sounds like a middle management, or second-in-command role. Chief of Security is vastly superior, and if not, then I'd rather the title not be changed at all as CSO is much worse. It does not sound like the head of the department at all.

ArmaliteRifle - Command Whitelist
Faye <3 replied to ArmaliteRifle's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
hi. i do have some feed back. if you’re going to play captain, you need to have more of a presence in round. when a captain present, command who otherwise act fairly independent are going to start looking to you for orders and updates. when i played command with you, i think that you had an issue with doing things without telling anyone which made the round pretty confusing, and you weren’t super present on command comm regardless. communication especially in a captain role is extremely difficult but very important -

I like Crusher. Naming them after a player is a really bad idea. -
Any feedback I could give has been adequately covered by Danse and Matt's posts. The death of the SFA was extremely abrupt and not very fun at all. The Qheles feels like a win button for the already extremely violent and overpowered Federation.
-
The point is that it is boring? Then why add it? It does not sound enjoyable whatsoever. If i’m playing Commander, there’s no way I’m interrupting peoples RP to polish rifles or toggle sprint around the station.
-
To be honest, this sounds extremely boring. Especially for the security objectives. Rifle maintenance and running laps is what a Commander who hates you forces you to do.

i agree w/this very strongly. any authority that isn't the CMO's in medical is a bad idea. it's unnecessary and not needed. If the CMO, for whatever reason, needs someone to hold down the fort while they're away, they can already say "hey, x is in charge while I'm gone/unavalible/busy". This would just be a mini-CMO when there isn't a CMO, which would be real bad.

Hi! Could @ReadThisNamePlzplease chime in with their side of the ticket, and their thought process behind it? Additionally, we would like @Flpfs and @CakeIsOssim both to walk us through their interactions with Miyazaki's character, Melody Loop? Specifically, how much attention was levied towards them.

I am, admittedly, unsure if the Practitioner sect needs more elaboration. It is meant, to my knowledge, to serve as a "anything that isn't covered in the other sects can go here" as a sort of "make your own Trinarist" thing. If I was going to add anything to it, I would do so while making sure the freedom to do write what you want remains. I think a job like this would be three parts. 1) Talking to Human Lore aboutt the faction. 2) Examining the lore to see what attitudes could evolve concerning synthetics. 3) Examining current characters from those areas to see how they feel about IPCs. For instance, Himeo is a strongly syndicalist / leftist ideaology. Would they see IPCs as fellow exploited workers, or as a threat to the job of the avg worker? Stuff like that. I would like to see the Church empowered a bit, and turn the Scrapheap into a lore location on par with District 6, Flagsdale, or the SLZ. I would want the Church to be a central power in the district, with a conflict between them and secular IPCs. The Church would become a bit more aggressive, and more focused on Religion rather than IPC rights. -

I wouldn't remove them purely because it would take away already played characters, which isn't fair at all. If I was going to edit them at all, it would be to give them more lore to work with. -

Self preservation is perhaps one of the most important aspects of IPC roleplay, and one that a lot of new IPC players struggle with the most. Law 0 doesn't mean that IPCs cannot put themselves in dangerous situations or take risks, but it means that said IPC needs to have a reasonable belief that they will survive whatever it is they are doing or engaging in. IPCs cannot be compared to humans in their decision making,- it just doesn't work. An IPC cannot do something very selfless or very irrational - it's against their entire being. When IPCs are written, this really needs to be taken into account more. -

Could not remove them anyways. This is just personal preference. -
yeah. our characters can just get dressed and ready for work in the below decks. i'd appreciate these removed, especially for how much they end up confusing new players.

I think the easiest way is to incorporate lore figures of these lesser-used frames, ones that defy the usual expectations of the frame with interesting personalities and goals. In short: incorporating them in more articles, lore arcs, etc. Give people examples they can see and go "this is pretty cool". One of the things I also plan to try and implement is non-shell IPCs no longer being restricted to neuter or they/them pronouns. I think having gendered baselines/industrials/accessories etc will make them much more accessible, while still allowing for people to play a neuter 'it' industrial if they want to. -
what do you think

Synthetics being on the backfoot is a core part of synthetic lore,- they're the eternal underdogs. However, I think it's still important to respect them for the large population they are. It's important to measure the negatives and positives you're bringing to IPCs when you're implementing updates that affect them, given their precarious position. Too dark and it's a misery to play, too light and IPCs loose something important to them - their constant fight for survival. I think it's fine if the JF wants to make Biesel more synthphobic, but I think it's a great mistake to not have the synthetics of one of the few IPC citizenship laws not respond. IPCs being an after-thought the way they were with that update is one of the things that motivated me to apply. -

I am more tender-hearted in regards to canon deaths. I don't think it would ever be my goal to kill someone, and I definitely think you can have fun and compelling narratives w/out killing station characters. KOTW week comes to mind as a ton of fun. However, stupidity will usually get you killed. There's a difference from dying from poor luck, and dying because you're acting like an idiot in a canon event. IMO, leniency should be used in the former case. I think having a big scary AI who murdered like 90% of your species in the past is a valid reason to disdain synthetics, and my issue with this is more the influence that the JF has. Synthetics exist on a knife's edge in most regions of the galaxy, and I do not like the current trend in Biesel of Jargon Federation skrell influencing the Republic to become more synthphobic. In my opinion, as I said prior, the setting has more than enough places in which IPCs are not treated as people, or outright killed. I don't think that, you know, 'synthetic revolution in our time' is going to happen, but I do think it speaks for itself that community members had to ask for IPCs to be represented in the Biesellite political lore, while there was automatically a synthphobic Federation inspired party. In short, I do not like that it feels as though one side is being represented, and the other is not. Dominia has next to no foreign influence. The main difference between them and Jargon is that Dominia can't really press their policies abroad, while the JF absolutely can. I like Dominia, by and larhe. -

Faye <3 replied to Faye <3's topic in Developer Applications Archives
If we go to somewhere like Dominia or the JF, I fully expect Horizon's synthetics to, quite frankly, stay the fuck on-board where it's safe. I can't comment to the rest, because we don't know (or at least, I don't) if foreign law will apply on the Horizon. It could be a like,- SCC territory thing. However, I think that self preservation alone would make an IPC not want to mess around in Jargon or Dominia. I think that straight, 1:1 IPC citizenship is really noteworthy for a major human power, even if a lot of Elyran citizens are disdainful of IPCs. It creates an interesting contrast, and makes Elyra by far one of the best places to be a free IPC in the Spur. I think that like with any concept, nuance is your friend. On said CoC planet, I would want tthere to be reasons for and againstt IPC citizenship, and how it has changed the culture of the planet. I also really enjoy the IPC specific cultural groups in Elyra. I think this is a clear and obvious expansion for the Scrapheap in Mendell City. Communities of IPCs barely scraping by, run-aways going into hiding, long queues for repairs and conflict over energy. A lot of IPC lore's focus is on sleek corporate IPCs, which is good, but imo something could be said for the grimy, fucked up conditions of synthetic slums. I had the idea a while back of the TCFL offering free repair incentives tto get IPCs to join, with the advertisement tthat they would handle your repairs after you got out. The cinch was that waiting times were often fatal, and the repairs offered weren't all that useful.
