Love this idea a ton, as long as, obviously, blowing up the bluespace engine doesn't mean a round still can't end if bluespace jump is called. Transfer cancel spamming or transfer grief is still a meme in a lot of servers even if its actionable from admins. +1 for absolute sure

I've played a good amount with daniel and they play fun and consistent characters and are good at playing a variety of different personalities! I like the details in the backstory focusing on the Skrell's whole social credit system stuff and punishment within the federation for affiliating with known dissidents. +1!

I've played with Berkland a good few times as OM. He RPs well and writes fun reactions to things, some more realistic than others. I remember a crazy rev round where Berkland himself ended up as a neutral party getting assaulted at least once or twice by revs while I as revhead OM was trying to keep him out of danger's way. +1 to this app, though applying with two characters might be better to focus on a single character and give more detail?

I think machinists work best in pairs because generally I can throw out "hey set up this and that please" while I go run to hound Ops for extra glass and steel or whatever. I have had rounds with annoying Machinists or people who just want to hang out and not do too much, which I can fully respect. I could possibly see this working out if we had some way to split a Machinist in Ops and a Roboticist in Sci and have them both have access to one another's departments and such but that's pretty unprecedented in Aurora's job stuff. I think alt titles would help with a lot of this, honestly. Having people be able to pick a title and have that as their skillset would help a lot for making RP more interesting and needing to make sure a machinist duo has to cover each other's weaknesses.

ElizabethDame IPC WL, Dawn of the second App
EJJ replied to ElizabethDame's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Epic robot gamer. As said before they're a good player! I've played a lot of rounds with them and they RP super well. +1 -
I think a whole "consular shit" tab would be sick but I think opening a lot of faction/ERT/antag/however you wanna define it stuff to general use would probably need a pretty hefty rework of some stuff, right? Also maybe more stuff for corp reps. Maybe making a whole "Rep Stuff" tab idk. I feel like corp reps being able to take like unique Heph gear or w/e would be cool. But I should probably work on getting into spriting.
-
I think this would be pretty cool. Honestly I think we should consider allowing consulars a bit more out there faction gear selection. Having consulars be able to show up in TCFL fatigues or other applicable faction stuff would be pretty neat. I fully agree with allowing Biesel consulars the Blaster Pistol/Revolver/Whatever. I think it'd be cool!

[Denied] ElizabethDame IPC WL

BORE is epic and fun to play with. I wish to see them suffer from not having access to every part of the ship and this character sounds very fun! +1 -
I will admit, it feels like a lot of the things against borgs are "I saw this once and I don't have any screenshots nor did I ahelp it" which I feel we should NEVER give any creedence. Anyone can say they saw something. I can say I saw a medborg acting as a secoff and threatening an antag with a circular saw just a week ago!!!!! No one except admins with logs can debate me on that! Borgs have been unmaintained for a while. A lot of stuff on Aurora has been unmaintained or kinda maintained for a while since prepping for NBT was the whole big thing. The issue is finding someone who wants to/has the time and motivation. I would love to but I lack any of the skill. If the situation with borgs is so unrecoverable then we should put them behind a WL until a plan for changing them is in place. We've already removed so many roles as is it feels like Aurora is shrinking and losing RP opportunity rather than gaining it. I also find it funny this only comes back up again after the Cyborgification Arc.

I think a good middle ground to this, but probably a pain in the ass would be allowing corps to have some roles in other departments. Hepht roboticists, Zavod pharmacists, etc But idk how much lore/dev team would wanna do this
-
I think some of this would help with QOL improvements for mining or Roboticists and Science getting some basic gold, silver, diamond, etc, etc in their storage guaranteed rather than having to wait on a miner who might be: - Not wanting to go out/not ABLE to go out. (Rock is hilariously far away and would take a lot of fuel to get there quickly or take like 20 min to get there and 20 min to get back and Horizon either can't move yet or isn't able to.) - An antag and stays ship-side and never goes mining. - Goes mining and dies/gets in the RP Zone with off-ship stuff and ends up back at 1:50. This isn't to say this would immediately improve this. But a lot of the pain in machinist role comes from Science not doing research and machinists needing research and being unable to do so. (Without jumping through a ton of hoops or breaking into sci.) While Aurora mining still had danger, Horizon mining has a lot more of a chance to either end up with a miner dead and a run needing to be canned and reset or with mining being unable to leave because an antag stole the Intrepid at 0:10 and now command wants the mining shuttle to follow the Intrepid because we only have two shuttles. The forbidden suggestion lies here: We get rid of tech levels. Much of the broken stuff needs phoron, which, obviously isn't very easy to make. But that would also strip more work Science gets to do so I dunno. I feel giving science and machinist some basic supplies from mining would be pog.

GladiatorGames's - Command Whitelist
EJJ replied to gladiatorgames123's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I've played with Gladi several times, the guy's got a really good sense of RP and character writing; all of his chars have a lot of detail, especially in gear and loadout detail. His characters have consistent senses of self and place in the setting while none of them feel too far out there. Chain is a treat, though I do want to see more of a lot of his other chars, some of them I haven't seen enough of. +1 -
I would highly support more guns being on the deadly weapons page rather than motivating players to hit "random gun" 35 times until they get something useful during a lot of rev rounds. I think random gun is still really fun for antags and sort of forcing you to deal with something. But that's me. Also I really think traitor/rev uplinks just need a bit more variety in weapons. A lot of time you don't really need to use much aside from a rifle or handgun as a traitor.

Oh yeah I didn't even think about the firearm control stuff. I always forgor that exists tbh. That could be a good middle ground. Again I'm mostly just throwing ideas out in case a coder feels like making it happen. And there's still a big chance it just results in sec wiping a lot of antags more often than not. I think if security borgs are back, it would also be hard to account for how many sec are on the ship or when to ask a borg to swap to a security module. Maybe making them a role locked to security only could be a good middle ground? So it doesn't eat up other borg spots. I'm not trying to really argue for their inclusion or for dismissal for the record, just tossing out some ideas if any coders are extremely interested in trying to bring them back.
-
The only way I could see security cyborgs returning would be removing two security officer roles or a pretty hefty rework of how borgcode works. Which would probably entail: - Borgs to either have non-lethals or no weapons on green. (Which would make them not much more than walking walls on legs if antags go hot on green and alert isn't raised fast enough. And would make them a very high value target for any mercs/traitors with an emag or rogue AI.) - There to either be a system that unlocks weapons on Blue and Red. Or an installable and removable board that would unlock the weapons regardless of alert level if you were worried security borgs would be fucked over by lowcommand rounds. (This board would also need to be able to be installed by security somehow if there's no machinist on or something. And that would run into the problem of security inherently being able to unlock secborgs which means antag sec could round remove them by pulling their cell out.) And those require a hefty amount of coding.

[Accepted] Owen / YouJustGotOwened - Moderator Application
EJJ replied to Owen's topic in Moderator Applications Archives
+1 I would trust Owen with my life. In longer terms, they've served to be one of the best command members I've seen and constantly strive to stay within character. They maintain good roleplay and are able to make interaction from or with basically anyone enjoyable. -
MrGodZilla's Command Application
EJJ replied to MrGodZilla's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I've played a handful of rounds with their CMO. They communicate well on command comms and check in when needed. I've had a few times other command members were busy and we needed to up to Red or I needed to do something and have them somewhere to coordinate and they were more than willing to drop what they were doing in medical and help me with whatever was needed at the time. Big +1 -
I completely forgot to ask for this. Hellooooo I would like access when possible.

MrGodZilla's Command Application
EJJ replied to MrGodZilla's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
MrGodZilla is pretty poggers, I've played a decent amount of rounds w/ their characters. They're a fun player and they're good at playing chars with a lot of personality and depth to them, as well as thought and consideration for how they might develop or little details, etc, etc. I think they'd be a good command member for sure. +1! -
head of staff Warbidons Head of Staff Whitelist
EJJ replied to Warbidon's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Warbidon's fun to play with, they give good RP and are very skilled at the roles they play. I've RP'd a ton with their Surgeon and a handful of times with their Cadet and I trust them greatly to make Command a fun role! +1 -
I like the idea of the Commissary! Though from what I've RP'd with a lot of Xenoarchs they don't like going w/ Mining and the connection with mining tends to ruin their ability to use the Intrepid with "mining is here, use their ship." Instead of letting them use the research/exploration shuttle. I don't know how I feel about Lawyers but I like the concept of Service Officers. Security can be kinda weird with Investigators occasionally having to be security personnel if a situation is especially awful. I have NOTHING against adding more roles, though. I feel like the removal of some science roles and the sort of implied eventual merge of Atmos Tech and Engineer have stripped some character concepts away.

Due to how Economic Factor and Job Economic Factor works, a character that is Off-Duty and still poor can have only ~100 credits to spend when Off-Duty. I propose changing this to prioritize taking the Economic Factor of the highest (valid) job a character has selected. I would also suggest some kind of modification for Passengers, due to the fact someone can play a Golden Deep character or a Dominian Noble and only have a few hundred credits to throw around. An alternative course of action may be allowing people to modify their base economic factor to some degree and not enforcing a Job based one, though I don't know if maintainers would be very happy about that.
-
I think investigations would benefit from a bit of a rework, but deck 3 is kind of strange in general. I think putting the investigator's office, evidence storage and forensics lab all on the same side could be a good middle ground. Dunno.

I think about 2-3 away ships and a higher amount of sites would be great, especially for miners and scientists. I dunno how viable of a change this would be, but, it's begun to become more noticeable as more things are added. I should add, this would also be good for enabling off-ship roles to RP. A lot of time they don't interact with one another and I feel forcing SFA and Freighter or somehting to fight over shit would be cool.
