  1. Well, it'd help if someone responded with saying "Ay, you aren't getting this" or "Alright" so far it has just been silence except for being told, "It will make the position healthier" without making any points. Stuff like this should be put to a vote before we do it tbh because the majority of people who posted their thoughts were against it.
  2. Another bump. I don't want this to get forgotten.
  3. Bump.
  4. Unless a lore person wants to come in and correct me, the Sol Alliance is far from a singular entity. While it is technically all under the main government based on Unity Station iirc, it is made up of many colonies all colonized by different types of people. So there is quite a high chance that over time unique languages and cultures would develop. Remember, there are tons of colonies in the Sol Alliance. They are more independent and ruling themselves than you give credit for, there name is "Alliance of Sovereign Solarian States" after all. Now to get to Mun. I quite like the idea of this, it really helps show the diversity that there is between Humans. And really, adding languages won't cut down the amount of speakers, if anything I think that it'd bring more speakers to use the new unique languages. Sol Common is one of those boring things that not many people use and I have characters that are Human and don't even speak it because they were born in linguistically unique areas of the galaxy. I truly feel that it would give a little more life to Humans because frankly, they are quite boring. Adding this diversity is a nice touch. This is also in the Lore Canonization area so I'll address that. I think that it fits well because it is realistic that languages will develop and evolve over time. Sol Common wasn't really a constructed language, at least from what I can tell. It seems to be more of one of things that evolved over time to make it easier to communicate between people. It does make sense that there would be different split of languages or that older Human languages evolved over time as many different nations sort of just rushed to the stars to colonize right when they could and brought their cultural identities with them. It is safe to say that many different languages evolved over time and that SC-A, B and C are just the major three. Also, I think they could use with a better naming scheme besides just A, B and C. I feel like those may be placeholder, not sure if you addressed that.
  5. Well, if that is the sticking point, it doesn't need to be dealt with by the CCIA. If people are abusing their position, a head whitelist strip could be in order. "Easy to get, easy to lose"
  6. Apparently I should make a suggestion instead of continuing posting on the Head of Staff forum. If you aren't whitelisted, basically what the Captain or No Captain rule is, is that if you are Captain, it is assumed that you have access to more knowledge and it is a direct promotion from any Head of Staff role so it isn't logical to be a Captain and Head of Staff on different shifts. I think this is a very pointless rule. If we are going to apply this for Head of Staff being promoted to Captain. Why don't we do this for all departments then? If you are a CMO I guess you can't be anything else in Medical. See, it is dumb. I have multiple characters who specialize in a certain Head of Staff role but are also a Captain because they are skilled in that as well. Valorallen Vitellia for example. He started off in Medical and then worked his way up to CMO and got an education on the administrative sides of things so now mains Head of Personnel and Captain. Is there such an issue for that? And with Skrellian characters, they've had a much longer time to gain experience. There is definitely a good chance once you start getting up there in Skrell age you're going to see characters that have multiple skills. So, I have characters that are CMOs or RDs and then are also Captains because they've been with NanoTrasen for ages and are trusted. It just limits characters I think and I don't like the idea of people saying, "Oh it is unrealistic for characters to go back to lower jobs once they've recieved a promotion" I understand we are going for realism and yeah, if this was super realistic no one would be anything except one job. But that wouldn't be that much fun which is why we allow minor changes. Also want to address the point of Captains having access to lots of information no one else has. There are Loyalty Implants for a reason. A Captain won't just randomly reveal company secrets if he is in another position. If they are, we can deal with that on a case by case thing because I can pretty much say with full certainty that most of our playerbase would not do that. I would just like other people to post their thoughts on this change because I find it being incredibly illogical to just push this on the players.
  7. Alright hi, banning staff member here. You were given a ban due to the fact that you were breaking the door. Normally, you stop what you're doing once PM'd by a staff member questioning your behavior. It is true that you were continuing to hit the door up to the point where we needed to wind you for you to stop. Based purely on the fact that this was End of Round grief, you were banned. I asked if you read the rules because it is directly stated there. But since this is your first time and I can see where there was slight miscommunication looking over the PMs, I'll unban you. I don't want to see you doing this again or there will be a more severe punishment now that you are aware of what you've done wrong. Also, This is a no. At the end of round just ghost if you want to explore somewhere. The staff are trying to get the round finished up and onto the next one. Random attack logs don't help the situation.
  8. Please use this format when appealing a ban. http://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=15
  9. I could pick apart every little piece of your original application but I think Mofo and Loow have more than covered that. I'm going to just focus on your three short story things which I think were actually a good read. The first part, you were describing Aveo and Kluup. I really like how you showed the difference in Skrell society, at least at that time. There were those rugged resistance fighters who saw some shit in their lives and risked everything and then there is Aveo, the sheltered Skrell who didn't experience nearly as much distress. That still is a thing current day in Skrellian society. Granted the Skrell that lived through the Glorsh Rebellion are getting fairly high up there in age but there is the noticeable divide, at least in my interpretation. I expect you would roleplay this amazingly, honestly. Assuming Aveo gets accepted, I would like to see how he interacts with the older Skrell that actually remember the old Federation before the Glorsh Rebellion. I actually really like that description of Kluup. It really highlights the differences between Kluup and Aveo. The part about the hydraulic supports actually makes sense to me even though I never thought of it that way, it would take quite a bit of effort to get used to things like that, especially at an older age. Once again shows the issues with his body failing him over time. I honestly think that was amazingly written. It really shows how much has changed over the 80 years since Aveo last saw his parents. I think that it actually really shows how much Aveo's parents were obsessed with Glorsh. It was like they worshipped him really. The sense that Aveo's parents felt betrayed seems fairly well portraied, he left them when he was young and returned a different person. After just reading this part so far, I am left wondering what led Aveo to decide to visit his parents after 80 years of not seeing them? Was there something in his life that happened? Did someone push him to do that? I think that this part, even if it wasn't absolutely necessary, definitely helped convey what Aveo was thinking, how he got to where he was. I like that it really fleshed out and showed us how he thinks and his logic behind things. I really enjoyed reading that part. Overall, this was amazingly written. Much better than I could've hoped to do. Just going to say that I'm lucky that I got the whitelist when I did because Loow is very thorough which is a good thing I feel. I like Kluup, he is surprisingly accepting and still all around good even with all he went through. Aveo is lucky that Kluup was so accepting to his background and treated him the way he did. Alright. On to short story number 2! This really shows the relationship between Aveo and Kluup. They both want the best for each other and share a great respect. I like that you added that bit about the pools because you know that all Skrell need pools. I just would want to know since I probably missed it somewhere. Is the pool supposed to be some sort of therapy for Kluup because of his legs? If so, I really like that and would the therapy be meant to help Kluup be able to walk much easier on dry land? Again, really defining the difference between the two. Fleshes out the characters. Makes note of the distrust of synthetics on Kluup's part. Correct me if I am wrong but it doesn't seem like Kluup has a "hatred" for synthetics, more like a distrust/fear of their power. That is a very interesting take on it. Kluup is mostly concerned about Aveo's wellbeing in this. Yes. Very much yes. I find this part amazing in displaying the distrust of the other Skrell towards Aveo. This is definitely something that feel would happen. Aveo is from one of those hated families and could easily be a secret synth lover. There will always be that one person to antagonize him on it as well. But it also does show how there are other Skrell that can look past that and actually show favor towards Aveo. Overall, great piece. I am actually pretty tired when writing this so I'm probably not going to get to the other short stories. All of this work put in really shows the Skrellian dedicaiton. I officially give this a +1 and I will hopefully get to the other posts later on.
  10. Absolutely not. I do not at all want CCIA characters to be on the station as a role that is always there. That is not the purpose of the CCIA Bureau and without drastic changes it will stay that way. The much better thing to do would be a redesign of the Internal Affairs Agent's purpose for being on the station. I'll be the first to admit, I really neglected the IAA during my time as CCIA Leader even with my countless times of saying that I was going to rewrite the purpose of the IAA on the station. I'm sure that the CCIA and Lorepeople/Headmins would be able to work out a new purpose for the IAA without making the CCIA a role on station which would also need a lore rewrite explaining why the agent would be assigned to stations instead of being a general monitor of all NanoTrasen facilities in the region. EDIT: If it wasn't clear that was directed at Nanako's suggestion of making CCIA a permanent role on station.
  11. I for one, like it. It is an interesting take on a future super disease. How would this work in-game though? A random event that causes it to spawn?
  12. Aboshehab roleplays great characters and can be fully trusted with this whitelist. They understand the lore from what I was able to tell when having conversations with them about it. I like their backstory about the Skrell. Definitely supporting this whitelist. May the warbles accept your poor soul.
  13. The ERT's Captain is not the Captain of the NTCC Odin. That would also be changed to the NTCC Odin's Station Administrator. An ERT Captain is a completely separate rank within the ERT. Also, what is confusing about "Station Administrator" and how would it confuse players? It is literally the administrator of the station. Pretty simple.
  14. Alright so, this has been suggested multiple times in the past but has gotten shot down. The thing that would make sense to add would be the role of Station Administrator/Overseer. This would be an alternate title for the Captain position since I know there is a lot of love based around that name. The title of Captain isn't very fitting within NanoTrasen considering there is already a position of Captain in ERT and it is higher than the NSS Exodus' Captain. That would cause unnecessary confusion inside of NanoTrasen to name two different jobs, Captain. Plus, the Captain is really an administrative role on the station, it would feel proper to have that as an option instead of purely being Captain. Thoughts?
  15. I remember Synnono and their characters from the old code/station and they all were pretty solid overall. Since the return of Synnono, I really have only interacted with Karimi and they are a very good character who is enjoyable to roleplay with. I would trust Synnono to receive the Head of Staff whitelist and feel that they would be a strong Command member if given the chance. A definitive +1
  16. Alright well obviously we are going to be needing a "The Expedition: I" poster. Skrell represent. Movie of the decade!
  17. Server Moderator Application Basic Information Byond Account:YouJustGotOwened Character Name(s):Here we go… AI Name(s):Pandora, I think there were a few more that just were one off names. Preferred means of contact: Discord, Forum PM. Admin PM. Pretty much that. Age:15 Timezone:EST When are you on Aurora?:Usually anytime between 2:30 to 4:00 EST or anytime between 7:00 to 12:00 EST. Weekdays. Weekends vary depending on my schedule. (My times vary but I am fairly active.) Experience How long have you played SS13?: Since January of 2015 How long have you played on Aurora: Since June of 2015 How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: Pretty much everything by now. Haven’t set up the Supermatter yet but I get the idea. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?:No. I have been in the CCIA Bureau since December 17, 2015 and the CCIA Leader from late March iirc to the middle of August. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?:Not here Personality Why do you play SS13?: To get away from stresses IRL. I like the roleplay aspect. Pretty much one of the only games I play. Why do you play on Aurora?: Well, I came here to get away from Hippie and I liked that me and my friend could experience longer rounds to “Build our fort on the Mining Outpost” I ended up staying after I got into the RP Aspect of it all. What do moderators do?: They moderate issues between the players of the server. Keep the peace between players and help set people on the right track. It isn’t all about just banning the shitters, if you are able to help them learn, that is good too. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: It means that you are held to a higher standard than the average player, as is expected with most staff. You should be aware of how you are acting at all time. Joking around is fine but when you need to be serious, you need to be serious. You should be able to handle stress fairly well as you will be getting plenty of logs. You should also be able to mediate differences between players. Why do you want to be a moderator?: Well, I recently left my CCIA Leader position (Handed it off to ForgottenTraveller) It wasn’t a punishment or anything, school was starting up, I was overwhelmed with school work and just started to let things slip. I feel now that I am able to get back to helping the server again and feel that I played my part in the CCIA Bureau. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I feel that I am a good negotiator/diplomat when situations arise. I am able to remain unbiased and am able to hear out both sides of a story. Feel that I can make unbiased decisions and remain respectful/be someone that players can look up to. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?:I feel that I have a pretty good grip on stress. I am able to manage my time and work that needs to be done fairly well so I don’t experience it that often. Anger/insults has not been a problem for me that I know of. Anything Else You Want to Add: (Do not put words here) I am aware that I cannot be in the CCIA Bureau and be a full fledged Moderator at the same time. I’m just hoping to get a trial in, see if I am fit for the job and then see what I want to do from. Anyway, thanks for reading the application. I would really like to stay an active member of the staff but I just don’t find it easy for me to do that needed jobs of the CCIA anymore (Basically doing investigations) Another note, let me know if I fucked up super hardcore on grammar. I am not a genius and don't like to spellcheck everything xD
  18. Erm. they are talking about for specific things. Not just an overall boost in text size. That wouldn't help with what they were talking about so things of a higher severity would be more noticeable.
  19. I would've done this a while ago if I realized it wasn't some paperwork or Cargo.
  20. Yeah especially for Captain. I usually have all of them turned on for monitoring purposes.
  21. Well, it happens for the Head of Personnel as well. It is just for channels that you have access to but do not command directly. Head of Personnel gets Supply and Service auto enabled. Security is an option but not enabled upon arrival. Captain only has Security and Command enabled upon arrival. Everything else is disabled. And, I know for a fact that everyone in those positions need to turn their headsets on but I was more asking if anyone else sees it as an issue.
  22. So, this is just a minor suggestion but when your character arrives on station, could we add it where instead of manually needing to turn on every channel that you have access to? It may seem like a minor thing but I find that when I am in roles that often have access to most if not all of the channels I forget to turn them on or miss things. This could just be me but I think it is probably just a quick change and it might help others?? Maybe I'm the only one with this issue 0_0
  23. I feel that it should be remove completely as well, if I didn't make that clear in my first post. If we vote for an Extended round that means that there should be no antagonist. It hasn't become an issue yet but I can see it being an issue dealing with making events canon and possibly CCIA investigations into "extended" rounds. Anyway, I hope that rest of the administration agrees with Skull on this one.
  24. Okay... How is this not a bug?? That makes no sense and I think it should just be fixed through GitHub.
