Looking over this, we found it to be fine and not a violation of the rules. We're sorry that it made you uncomfortable, but there's nothing more to be done here. Just wanted to check up on this and see how things were going. Your trial will be over soon. Have you had much time to play as your command character? It would be very helpful to get some feedback from other players on your command playstyle, make sure you are advertising your application in OOC once per round.

I really like the idea of having two consular slots. Having two corporate representatives is fine if it can work, but I do not particularly care either way if it does or not. Though with the two consulars, is there something already implemented or in the works that would assign them to a specific office/restrict access to the other office? The only thing I have to say about the remap right now is maybe consider making the tables in the XO and Captain's offices wooden. Otherwise, I think it looks pretty good!

As others have said, I agree with the sentiment that the fear of "event captains" and command overall is overblown and hardly an actual issue. I'd be completely opposed to having staff handpick specific characters for roles for their events. Much better to leave it to the luck of the draw in my opinion.

Hey there, thanks for applying! Please review this post and update your application accordingly. For Head of Staff WLs, you should be applying as an actual head of staff role (not Consular/Corporate Representative) to play for the duration of your trial. Also--please expand on the rest of your answers. If you need an idea of how long these answers should be, refer back to the previous head of staff applications in the archive. Bumping this because I still think it’s a good idea

I would be absolutely against transitioning back to channels. From a staff side, it is much easier for us to keep track of and have new channels created. Previously it was incredibly time-intensive to create new channels and we were nearly constantly at our channel limit for the apartment category. And as for using the forum feature on my phone, I can't say I have ever experienced the crashing. I get that would be frustrating though.

Hey there, so @CampinKiller and I talked things over about this for a while. Although we don’t think any of this was malicious at all, we do believe that @Sparta9001, your performance as a First Responder is unsatisfactory to the degree of causing issues with the natural flow of rounds. This is not something that cannot be improved but the First Responder role is a difficult and chaotic one more often than not. Because of this, we are going to be placing a 2-week ban on you playing First Responder, during which we ask that you spend time playing Riona Kelly (or a new character) as a First Responder Intern in order to better understand the role and the systems at play here. This ban will not expire automatically, but after that 2-week period is up (25 June 2023), you are welcome to make a Ban Appeal and we'll move forward from there. Many players are more than happy to help show people their “tips and tricks” when it comes to playing their job, and it is strongly advised that you sincerely take this advice from them. No one here wants anyone to fail, so it’s just a process of getting yourself more familiar with how things should be done in the role you play. This is especially the case in a role that has such a steep learning curve as First Responder. We also suggest that you consider joining the "Department Hub" Discord server which can be found in the "affiliated_groups" channel on the Main Discord server. Although it is seldom used, it serves as a good place to ask specific questions that you might have. This refers to the fact that for each ship, several people are listed who are qualified to fly it, but that preference should be given to the specific job assigned to the shuttle. So for the Spark: Miners, Xenoarchaeologists, Bridge Crew, OM, RD, XO, and Captains all can fly the ship, but under normal circumstances, miners should only be the ones flying it. This is the same for the Intrepid, but where the miners are not listed as qualified at all--the other listed roles can still pilot it should the need arise, but in general, the Intrepid should be deferred to the Xenoarchaeologists. Read in the context of the entire section, Cybs and I both believe it to be sufficiently clear. I'll go ahead and close this now.

Hi! What Kermit told you per the Guide to Piloting is correct and our overall stance on who can pilot what, and is clear that a miner is not to pilot more than the Spark. These are OOC rules and not IC regulations, so while you might be punished for piloting something you shouldn't be ICly, it should not be happening in the first place on a player level. This remains the case regardless of whether you are only docking/undocking a ship or if you are piloting it halfway across the sector. This is not something that can be argued otherwise on a complaint, as these threads do not determine policy decisions. They are about issues with staff and decisions made by staff. We’ll leave this up for a few days if there are any more questions.

Right--while validhunting was factored into the decision ultimately leading to your ban. The main issue in this specific case was the lack of self-preservation that your character displayed in getting themselves involved in the ongoing firefight. Once security teleported in, you should have attempted to disengage from this fight. As stated in the ban reason, you were unarmored and essentially unarmed with your mini-disruptor. You should be trying to avoid pain. Running up and firing at the antags point-blank is not a way that your character should reasonably act especially when there is the full security team there and fighting. I've attached a screenshot of the incident. There is ample room for your character down where the executive officer was, and that is ideally where you should have been during that firefight if not fleeing further away from the active firefight. Instead, you ran up next to the antags and proceeded to shoot them, getting shot at in the process. As of now, I will be denying this appeal but you are more than welcome to either create a new one if you agree with the ban and can demonstrate an understanding that this is not something that should be done as a BC, or you may open a staff complaint if you wish to contest the verdict. I will be locking and archiving this now.

Hello, hi. I finally had a chance to sit down and read through the appeal just now. First, I want to clarify: are you contesting the ban being placed in the first place (i.e., you believe you were right with what you did), or do you understand why it was placed and agree with the punishment but are just asking for another chance? I am more than alright with lifting this, but I want to ensure you understand why you were banned and why this behavior is discouraged for BCs.
