2. Fishery Upgrades Now Complete In Lakeside Local fishery units have finally completed their upgrade to class one fish breeding facilities on the shore of the city of Lakeside. These new units will see an increase in fish yields of up to 23% as soon as next month. Units fabricated locally at Pieces Industries have been in the processes of being upgraded by a joint NanoTrasen-Pieces venture to boost fishing exports in the region, largely to supplement the continuous growth of Mendell City and its booming population. Harold Chapman, COO of Pieces Industries, told the press that "we at Pieces Industries are proud of what we have accomplished here today, providing enhanced services to our clients to ensure the perpetuation of their livelihoods and the continued growth of the city and of Biesel itself." When questioned about the rumors of an acquisition deal between Pieces Industries and NanoTrasen Mr Chapman stated that "such talks are certainly not off the table."
3. State Of The Art Ship Enters Biesel Space The newly constructed NCV Ikon, a state of the art mobile power facility, has entered Biesel space. The new ship, a joint venture by NanoTrasen and part funded by the Earth states Nigeria and the African Confederation, will be due to dock with the Mendell City Orbital Power Relay Platform in preparation to link with the cities power grid in a lead up to a new energy distribution project which will see hundreds of miles of high voltage direct current cabling laid between the key cities on Biesel as part of an overall infrastructure upgrade. Andrew Reynolds, Chief Relations Director of NanoTrasen told the press that "the facility will dock with the relay and begin power generation within the week. This new power injection is projected to reduce power costs across Mendell by around 6% as savings on powercells which the Ikon will produce. As always, we at NanoTrasen pride ourselves on delivering the best services for the fairest prices to our clients." Both NanoTrasen and Hephaestus Industries had been bidding for the energy distribution project, with NanoTrasen finally being offered the contract early this year. The Ikon has been rumoured to have been in construction for two years. Along with the new ship come new arrivals as the current crew of around 300-350 NanoTrasen shift workers of different roles native to Sol III's Nigeria and the African Confederation. Our reports managed to speak with the current shift Captain Niyilolawa Henshaw. "The overall number of the crew currently onboard is roughly 300-350 souls. Yes we may be from all walks of live politically and socially, but we are committed to providing a quality service to our clients and we guarantee that we will respect our Biesel hosts." NanoTrasen has confirmed that the crew of the Ikon, like with all facilities across Biesel, will be on rotation meaning they will be deployed across any NanoTrasen facility in Tau Ceti as and when required, with crew from other facilities supplementing the Ikon when the need arises. Locals interviewed, though pleased with the projected savings on energy, are lukewarm to the idea of more Sol citizens being granted permanent residence to work within Biesel when there are suitable candidates amongst the local citizenry. "We all appreciate the services provided by this new venture" local woman Hannah Clarke told the Bugle "but why not offer positions to citizens within Biesel? Why bring citizens from Sol?" The announcement sees NanoTrasen shares rise by 0.4% with Hephaestus Industries seeing a 0.02% dip in share price. A Hephaestus Industries spokesman told the press that "this was only a minor blip" and that "there are other projects still on the table which we are hungry to get stuck into."

New Map Thread

I agree with Crab. I'm used to it myself, but I can see it being confusing for newbies/just generally confusing. Perhaps have the civs colour coded and the capital name's not?
5. It's largely already a rule (as stated) when it becomes ridiculous (not doing your job every round) but it's largely and IC issue. When you encounter these characters, does your character raise a complaint through the chain of command? ajstorey456
6. 03.12.2459 Horror In New Cairo, City In Lock Down Low quality images from inside the quarantine zone reveal infected citizens assaulting a New Cairo reservist. Horrifying images reveal the extent of a chaos within the locked down district of Al Bahr as a renewed attack by the Vaurca begins near Lake Serenity. Reserve units have been scrambled to New Cairo following the quarantine of Al Bahr district as military units engage emergent Vaurca forces along the Lake Serenity mountain range. Though the Elyra News Network has been unable to reach any reporters still situated within Al Bahr, reports indicate that the missing servicemen brought to New Cairo Central Hospital had been saturated with a new breed of K'ois and used as a chilling bio-weapon on the city. Twenty four hours after being relocated to the hospital the service men are reported to have suddenly become murderously violent, attacking and reports say infecting medical staff and other patients with what we know now to be a K'ois based agent. Within eighteen hours of the initial outbreak, Vaurca forces emerged from the Lake Serenity mountain range tunnels and forced the 13th Battalion army units into full retreat until they were reinforced by 7th and 16th Battalions. They are currently holding their ground. Images of New Cairo Central Hospital show a series of tar like, black fungal growths snaking across the buildings and spilling out into the surrounding streets and military officials have confirmed that an evacuation procedure has begun for those currently uninfected in the area alongside the city wide evacuation of New Cairo itself. Medical experts have confirmed within the last few minutes that the tar like substance is indeed a K'ois derivative which acts as an intracellular parasite within humans, influencing the hosts nervous system. Infected in Al Bahr, though at first seemingly carrying out violence at random, have been observed undertaking complex tasks in unison with little to no visible methods of communication, a trait observed in Vaurca military units. More on this story as it develops.

Well I like it personally, what's everyone else's thoughts?

New Map Thread

I like the new map. It's sleek and it makes more sense. Personally I think old map fell into the trap of being too large. People seem to not get how far that map covered. The logistics of maintaining that would actually be impossible. Not difficult, impossible. This new map is still very, VERY, V E R Y large, yet manageable in terms of bluespace travel. There is nothing stopping humans or anyone else from having been in unmapped space this whole time if we so wish it later on. Also BygoneHero, out super hot ant lore dev says Sedantis is missing. Just FYI.
10. To balance this out (no alarms), the sprite of the camera taped should be glaringly obvious to anybody looking imo.
11. Just like R&D. *Canned laughter* I'm all for cross department interaction. It'd be good to make it a rule (and therefore influence the robotics culture) to see out a medical professional to do the brain bits BUT if one isn't on then just being able to do it themselves. Thoughts?
12. What about as an opt in? The player chooses this.
13. https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Biesel#Population_Demographics : joy : : ok_hand :
14. I like this idea but not for every type of antag round. Some rando having a gun on traitor or being a klepto doesn't make much sense. However, on game modes such as cult/rev maybe, possibly on merc/heister/raider I think they'd add spice. In the same way an antag gets told they're X, a minor antag could be told they're Y with Z and given a focus for the round. It'd obviously be an opt-in out-out thing. Cargo character gets smuggled gun and instructions to protect cargo and collegues at any cost. Two people are lovers and told they must ensure the other gets out alive. A science character is given instructions to ensure data disks of currrent research are to be saved no matter the cost. They're a nice little addition and a good roleplaying assistant for people to get involved with RP who might otherwise have difficulty.
15. So by that answer, you'd be happy if it was just mentioned in a single line/small paragraph?
16. I'll add a little tit bit on the human timeline.
17. Suspected Terror Attack Confirmed Accident Alliance and Demios forensic technicians have confirmed that the pipeline explosion which occurred on November the fifteenth and lead to the loss of two lives and multiple injuries was due to a computational error in the pipes auto-reserves. Red State Technician, Adam Kalvert, told reporters "the pipelines auto-reserve unit lost power due to a local brownout following damage to power supplies caused by a local pro-alliance, anti-alliance brawl in down town Demios. The power surge, though handled by the reserve computers backup systems caused some data fragmentation. This lead to the pressure in the pipeline building to explosive levels." Demios City Police Commander, SofĂa Garcia, gave a press release. "The pipeline explosion is a tragedy which has been played upon by extremists on both sides of the Mars-Alliance issue. We ask all citizens in Demios to remain calm, civil and to respect the rule of law at this time." When asked if the pipeline explosion could've been avoided, Commander Garcia told reporters "It absolutely could have. More robust systems should have been put in place by Ohmu PetroTec and, critically, citizens should stop destroying public property in their petty street fights. We ask citizens who know anything or anyone involved in the brawl to come forward and report to the local police."
18. Why not have them in large steel creates with a big warning sign on them that need to be first welded then crowbarred open or something?
19. I mean, 350 is still cheaper then several thousand. It does not weaken the argument at all. If space wind is unfixable/not being worked on why not just at the lil'bootsies?
20. Terror Attack On Mars Leaves Twenty Three Wounded 11.15.2459 Twenty three in critical condition and two dead following a suspected terrorist attack on the Ohmu PetroTec fuel line. The blast took place in the Ohmu PetroTec fuel depot in the Thule area of Demios, East States and was followed by a blazing inferno which was eventually extinguished by local emergency services. The attack is suspected to have been orchestrated by Martian Nationalists. Lieutenant Antonio Munoz, adjutant to Alliance Admiral Yi, explained to the press that "Artemis Initiative Guardsmen had been contracted to protect the area but had pulled out of the agreement to watch over senior ATLAS officials in Olympia. We've been contacted by Local State Police and though initial reports of the blast do match seismic charges carried by Artemis teams, the inferno that followed suggests some form of incendiary device was actually used. We are assisting the local police as much as possible at this time." The so called "Free Assembly" terror group released a statement over the Extra Net after the attack stating that "we remind the citizens of Mars that we stand by you" and seemed to urge its supporters that "we must resort to violence in defence of Martian freedom." Local black markets have been flooded with illegal laser weaponry and military grade defence systems over the last few days which reports say is linked to the terrorist organisations growing influence over key red Martian cities.
21. Two Dead In Suspected Terror Attack Two dead following a suspected terrorist attack on the Ohmu PetroTec fuel line. Twenty three others were injured in the blast and fire at the Ohmu PetroTec fuel depot in the Thule area of Demios, East States. Their injuries are believed to be serious but not life threatening. Local emergency services have managed to subdue the inferno whilst private security teams have cordoned off the area in wait of Local State Police forensic teams. The exact cause of the explosion is unknown, but it is suspected that Sol Nationalists are to blame. In an interview with Martian Vice, Lieutenant Antonio Munoz, adjutant to ATLAS Admiral Yi, told reporters that "Artemis Initiative Guardsmen had been contracted to protect the area" and partly confirmed that "initial reports of the blast do match seismic charges carried by Artemis teams." In response to the explosion, the Freed Assembly or "Freedom" released a statement over the Extra Net. "Though the cause of the attack is currently unknown we remind the citizens of Mars that we stand by you and will act to protect your independence even if we must resort to violence in defence of Martian freedom though we sorely wish it does not come to that." Local grey markets have also seen a swell in laser weaponry goods and military surplus armors in recent days which have been linked to Freedom members contributions across Mars.

23. Hackie stop enabling pacman, he's in SS13 rehab.
24. Human lore dev here. You absolutely wouldn't be allowed to wear sol navy military fatigues on station. Think smaller and less bombastic. A Sol Navy cap would be ok and it would serve the same purpose: Show your characters loyalties, be identifiable and be a conversation starter.
