  1. OH SHIT SON! WE WERE KHANS!
  2. Wishing everyone a safe AIDS day 2018. Today we remember Loow, who was lost to HIV AIDS this past August. Rest in peace, old friend.
  3. Who is best girl? I think DPRA. For the prophet Nated!
  4. You might meme em, but you also play some of the best of em tbh
  5. I just wanna say I played a few rounds yesterday, and I was kind of blown back. In my entire history of playing on the server, traitor antags have kind of never worked together and always fucked off to do their own thing. So when I spawned into the shift as a tator tot, I just kind of figured I was on my lonesome. But BOY was I in for a surprise. I went on a quest to assassinate every station pet as a means of destroying crew morale... uh... for the ALA. It was dumb and gimmicky and silly, but I was in for a genuine surprise. One by one I started bumping into people who flung the pass phrases at me and repeatedly broke me out of prison or got me off the hook for my crimes. Three times security took me in and every single time a NEW traitor I had never associated with before got me free and multiple times even got me my contraband back. NOIR the detective was a big key in this as he convinced everyone else that I couldn't have done my crimes for lack of material evidence, even though the CSI had strong evidence against me, and he even went as far as to bring me Lt. Columbo for slaughter, something I never could have done on my own. From there an assistant broke me out after communicating the code words with me while Noir solo'd all of security in the brig in an epic showdown, and as we tried to join the fray to break our comrade out when he was defeated, we too were taken. But then a security officer dropped the pass phrases and SAVED ME where we proceeded to loot the vault but fail to rescue our comrades. It was bizarre and excellent, the antag cohesion was strong and the roleplay, despite my abjectly stupid goals, was awesome. It had been so long since I had such a fun round, and the newer players associated with both trying to turn me in as well as helping me in my quest were acting with a degree of cooperation and role play the likes of which were always the exception and not the rule. The cherry on top was that I was playing a relatively new character who hasn't even seen ten rounds on station, and yet seemlessly they worked with me and invested their time to involve and interact with me in ways the old guard often failed to. In short, the fresh faces of the community are inclusive, fun, and breathing new life into the server.
  6. I would really really really like to be able to edit posts again. I went to go update my character story and discovered I can't edit the posts which contain the actual story. (also, CCIA business requires post editing in the CCIA forums.)
  7. I tried to swoop in and add more to part six, but then I was reminded that forum editing is not possible at the moment. When it's re-enabled I'll wrap up part 6 and eventually get around to tidying up part five like I've been avoiding. It won't let me edit my old story posts, so I had to make a new post, which can hopefully be edited in the future.
  8. This will probably say more about me than about Fowl, but I genuinely enjoy him and the input he provides. He's posts have a bite and spice to them that I love. Is his conduct acceptable? If I held that standard the community would probably die from the outright hostility I'm usually okay with. He's a fantastic writer, I believe but can't authoritatively say he's a good coder. His role play is excellent and has a depth a maturity about it which is both insightful and incredibly rare. Not that I mean to say I encounter him on station frequently, but recalling older days, events surrounding the city council, and his masterfully crafted Tajara application. I'll be frank too. Sometimes he puts bad ideas in their place. The manner he does it in is always curt and hard hitting, he doesn't let down softly like I might. Are the words he used and methods appropriate? I enjoy them in a cynical way but maybe not. I understand he's not everyone's cup of tea and that his position is such that he isn't just some random guy in the community. I won't posture and say I'm disappointed in him. In other circles outside of Aurora I fling hurtful comments without batting an eye and receive them too. But this is Aurora and not my other circles, so make of it what you will.
  9. I think you handled the criticisms I had well, don't take what I had to say as "these are changes that have to be made." Its Jackboot's race and I think he's receptive to the idea. I think you would make a good addition and the Autakh would be fun.
  10. I feel like, as a writer, UglyXeno's prose is good work with vivid descriptions and creative ideas. While I have objections to the specific proposed lore, which will come later, I've always been a conservative force when it comes to lore writing and one who adheres to conventions rather than blazing trails. So break out the granulated iodized salt when hearing my criticism. So, yes, without pointing to any specific examples I want to say that the Autakh were interesting and flavorful. They vaguely remind me of the Brotherhood of Steel, except friendlier and more accommodating. I also get some vague Street Samurai vibes from them with the obsession with augments. The idea that augmentation becomes a requirement rather than a choice is a really strange take. The whole faction essentially seems to be an anti-Unathi Unathi. While personally I'm not a fan of anti-species species, since this is often easily served by just playing a human, Jackboot does seem to be a fan and Unathi are his domain, so I leave it to him. Let's talk independent factions. The Hegemony isn't weak, it's a stellar empire. Even if we hand wave "ah, because they aren't backwards savages like the other Unathi, they're more technologically advanced," I still feel like the combined resources of what is still a technologically advanced empire (or hegemony if you will) would have stomped them out if they really had to. Especially considering the global thermonuclear war that occurred. Surely they could've used EPWs (Earth Penetrating Weapons, think nuclear bombs made specifically to destroy bunkers) to laugh at them and rid themselves of the thorn in their side. I feel like being on Moghes makes them seem overwhelmingly like they wouldn't exist, no matter how many layers of plasteel plot armor we gird them with. Why not embrace the technological advancement and sci-fi themes even farther and just have them take up in an asteroid, or colonize an inhospitable planet elsewhere with arcologies? They could send out infiltrators to go live in daily Hegemony society with well disguised augments to tell people "my visssion is augmented" and then bring back home the sick, downtrodden, and forgotten who want a better life elsewhere. I really feel like, as it stands, the Autakh don't really have any trade offs going on. As it currently stands they're un-invadeable super augmented trans-Unathi in a Utopic society who can freely take in new recruits. By moving them off Moghes we finally get some grit and challenge, rather than all of their persecution being pre-establishment, as we can re frame it as having them go forth to find new recruits and even to gather supplies and items that they need to thrive. Other than that, I do feel that maybe you seem to act pretty jittery and squeamish in lore discussions. Over the past few weeks you seem to be particularly stubborn and bull headed at times, which isn't necessarily a criticism. It's good to stand up for your works and ideas, Jackboot and I butt heads all the time when we refuse to compromise our respective convictions. But one thing that I feel might be a problem is this underlying sensation that you would totally reformat the whole setting if given the chance. I often feel that you have more in the way of criticism than in the way of general revelry of our setting and lore. I also don't mean to say that this is strictly bad, but echoing Jackboot's concerns, are you sure you can work within the framework of our current setting? I think that you can, but I want to make sure that you think you can too.
  11. On a positive note, I love you all. I hope we can all get along. Pretty much anyone I even mildly disliked isn't around anymore, and I think a lot of the cool, hip young new folks are a lot of fun and full of potential. As I said before, I really think the only thing that actually changed is our [older lads] own activity. We have a really diverse crowd around here with a lot of cool ideas and good roleplay. The more we bog[danoff] down and pout about the old days is unfair to the talented new crop who try really hard to meet our unrealistic standards. Sulking about the inevitable march of time is fine and I do it every single day, but I really feel it's fundamentally wrong to raise issues with the current roleplay when, if anything, the newer crowd is more inclusive than ever. When I first joined the server in 2015 it was metaclique hell, and I quickly got bored, griefed, and was banned. Only months later when I returned and played with a whirlwind of activity did I finally start making friends and feeling like I fit in. Lasting IC friendships can only come with sustained activity and playtime, and while many of our old guard character favorites aren't around anymore, perfectly good new friendships are waiting to be made. My biggest advice is advice I gave before to the disenfranchised, and the advice is to go completely out of your way to interact with someone. Not just in the general sense of sitting in the bar and waiting for roleplay to come to you, but pick someone on that crew manifest and single them out for your attention. Is there a chef around? Go ask them 20 questions about who they are, how they got to Tau Ceti, what their favorite dish is, what do they think about current events. Is there a psych? Setup and appointment and get them in their office to talk and interact. I always find decent success when I do this, and while no enduring character friendships are formed because I don't follow up on these interactions with consistent playtime, you can see really quickly that the quality of roleplay on the server hasn't declined a bit.
  12. Wassup dudes, it's ya boy Mofo1995 here. Just wanted to start off this post to tell you all to hit that like button (if we ever get it back) and to comment below. Make sure to view my profile and hit that "follow" button and turn notifications on so you can see all my hot new content as it hits the forums. This is a serious cry for attention/help. Jackboot keeps me locked in his basement all day and night and prints out posts of lore suggestions and questions brought to him in black and white and brings them to me. I have free range in the basement, but if I try to go upstairs they throw footballs at me. He brings the posts which he prints out on paper (and charges me for the ink and paper) and forces me to read them under this lamp that's WAY to bright. It gives me these massive headaches and makes my eyes so sore that they feel dry. I can feel the HEAT from the lamp, it makes me sweat at the tiny desk he makes me do this at. After I give him my feedback he returns upstairs where he logs into my account and posts my responses for me. They only feed me green beans, white rice, and discarded pizza crusts. As an early christmas present they gave me a CD player with only one CD of Britney Spear's greatest hits. It skips two seconds every ten seconds leading to an awful listening experience. Please send help, last I heard we're located somewhere in Nebraska, I've snuck out of my hole to post this and he's going to take away my CD player when he finds out. Remember to like (by responding with a smiley face emoji) comment, and follow my profile, we WILL be doing a t-shirt giveaway to the first 5 subscribers starting on November 31st.
  13. I figured it was just me. I've been playing a lot of my newer characters recently and a lot of my older characters went without love for some months while I was consumed by retail hell. The result is that now I struggle to worm my way into the new breed of cliques, especially since most of my old pals have retired their older characters or stopped playing. I guess the insight I'm giving is that, ICly, I'm functionally getting the new player experience which typically means being the stranger who isn't up to date on the latest gossip, and lacking any social currency, excluded from the typical chair RP chit chat. I can't really say, "and it's all your faults!" If I'm not creative enough to leave an impression as my characters, but "who is dating whom?" type gossip seems to be the big thing outside of antag interaction or sec infighting. I dunno, I can't pretend I'm not still having fun. Whether it's two old character friends bumping paths again or ALA gangs forming in maint, a lot of exciting and interesting roleplay is still going on and is still promoting inclusivity and engagement. I just figure I'm an oldman who needs to evolve and adapt to the modern crowd.
  14. I'll probably be accepting this when I grt home from work today. Good work! Thank you for your patience.
  15. I will help you become hokage of the aurora forums
  16. Some thing in this app are done right but a few are done somewhat wrong. Namely getting blamed for being a Raskariim cursing the crops. While the average tajara is pretty superstitious, the PRA is an atheist government, and communist. Having her company be nationalized was a good touch, and convenient in the sense that I'm working on upcoming lore which would clarify the PRA as a place where all businesses and property ownership are nationalized. Being a Zhan critical of the government is reason enough though to be called not a true comrade or something and to get stung, especially with the second revolution breaking out as the backdrop. How do you think your character is going to act as someone who is unafilliated with any of the factions? If a stranger held a gun to her head and told her to pick a faction which would she choose? What kind of beliefs does she have?
  17. I will be reviewing this tonight.
  18. It's all right. I don't really have much in-depth criticism to give, it showcases a good understanding of tajara lore and Asmar shows appropriate shame and understanding about the dangers of his vices. A key thing to keep in mind over the course of roleplay on the station is remember to be reclusive and possibly even dishonest about his predilections, being sure to only tell very close friends in private. You have a lot of positive feedback in your application too, and almost entirely from people with tajara whitelists too. I think you'll make a good addition to our tajara population on the server. Application accepted. EDIT: Also, consider Asmar's exit strategy from secret policeman to expat. Did he resign his post and leave? Did he go on vacation and not come back? How did he go about that?
  19. Hey everyone! I wanted to take a moment as tajara lore guy to say that I really feel that the state of tajara roleplay on station is fantastic. I think my little war orphans are doing a great job and every tajara I encounter over the course of play has been nothing short of great. You're all doing wonderful! I also want to give special shout outs because of the most recent tank event. The first one going to Menown for his role as Muhawir who asked some pointed questions and accused the PRA of fascism before hurling a tomato at the visiting officers. Tragically I don't remember their names, but the second shoutout goes to the other tajara who were around at the time and created some excellent organic tension by fighting and arguing with the dissent and even asking for an autograph. I also wanted to take a moment to thank my deputies, who have been doing a great job. To say they've been helpful in coming up with new lore, as well as providing a constant source of feedback and criticism to refine and sharpen writings of jackboot's and my own, is an understatement. Shower the lads with your love for the work they do. Do you want to circle jerk and give some praise to tajara players you've seen while you've been playing? Do you want to butter my devs and I with praise and tell us how good we've been doing? Do you want to be Yve’kha at a picnic and spit mad fire at us? Feel free to drop a post in this thread!
  20. I love Geeves. Great personality, good attention to detail, very active. Your answers paint the picture that you have a pretty good idea about the duties we handle as CCIAAs, and I would love to have you on the team. The biggest question I have is how flexible is your schedule? There are players from many timezones, and an IR can become a scheduling nightmare if, say, I as an American have to arrange an interview with someone in eastern europe. Do you think you are able to field those kinds of mundane challenges to close an IR in a reasonable amount of time [namely a week or two]. I always struggle as someone with a full-time job.
  21. There's not a whole lot to dig into with your application. It's pretty cookie cutter as far as Tajara applications go, but you seem to have a strong grasp of the common tropes and major themes. I do have two things to caution about. The first is densensitivity to violence. PTSD and first-hand experience with violence is common among Tajara characters, but just never use this as an excuse to valid hunt or anything along the lines of "I've covered wars you know" as justification to chase down and kill antags. The second is the gradual transition to being a "human-like Tajara." You have to be very careful with this, since in some cases it's been done masterfully but in many its gone less well. So long as your character isn't walking around talking openly about their sexual predilections, it should work out just fine. You had some feedback, and checking the web interface, you are REALLY active on station. I wish I had the kind of time on my hands to play spessmens as often as you do, it's honestly impressive. So activity is no issue at all. Application accepted! I hope to see Sahir arround on station.
  22. Nal'Tor Celebrates its First Halloween 03.11.2460 On the night of October 31st, zombies, ghosts and witches flooded the streets of Nal'Tor to forage for candy at the doorsteps of houses all across the city. Rather than Raskaran horrors filling the streets and spreading terror, the apparitions were happily welcomed and cheerfully greeted. They were children in costumes. Plans for trick or treat and a costume contest were laid several months ago by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and approved by Mayor Vyo'gudonv. Curfew was extended later into the night to allow children and their parents to collect candies and small presents. In the time leading up the event, large numbers of costumes were shipped to specialty stores around the city as well as many fabrics and decorations which citizens used to make their own Halloween novelties. The result was a night of family friendly fun and laughter, and many toothaches from all the sweet goods. After the end of trick or treat, a costume contest was held in the public square outside of the Steeple where President Hadii delivers his speeches. The President watched from the Steeple balcony as the most creative costumers in the city presented themselves in a small parade before judges. The winner, a 19 year old Tajara named G'ramijir Qrrhanov, took first place with the costume of a human by shaving off all of his fur except for his head, clipping his claws, and tucking his tail into his pant legs with large over-sized boots to cover his feet. President Hadii was seen uproariously laughing at the winner's costume. The celebration drew criticism from concerned parents who cited the Parivara's recent decision to denounce human holidays. The macabre themes of Halloween did not sit well with many of the more pious citizens who worried about the possible influence of Raskara and potential evil behind the holiday. The various temples of the suns distributed signs for families not wishing to participate to place in their yards. These backfired however; as many who used these signs awoke the next morning to find chicken eggs smashed against the exterior of their homes as well as bath tissue strewn over their rooftops and gardens. Despite the controversy, the holiday is considered a massive success with funds from the seasonal purchases going towards the construction of a children's hospital in a suburb of Nal'Tor. Plans for Halloween 2461 are already underway with the Ministry of Internal Affairs weighing the possibilities of expanding the event to other cities in the People's Republic.
