  1. I somewhat agree, since there's hives largely anchored in Tau Ceti and the reasons for vaurca reps to be around are highly similar to the PRA- close ties with NT and to watch their dudes on station. The concern lies moreso in vac player counts, but arguably this could be something to boost those numbers. As I was saying in Lore Writers, I don't have full discretion of this. It's more Lancer's brain child than mine, so I don't wanna tear it from his hands since he's done most of the work for this. He's doing his best to make it lore compliant and I'm doing my best to make sure his rework goes as he plans. I do wanna make some expansions in the future.
  2. Here's a loophole: What if someone you never met identifies over the radio? Whacky Voice says, "Hi I'm George Melons." You now know that voice is the voice of George Melons, but his name doesn't update for you since you didn't see his face and do some clicking.
  3. Lancer and I are talking about it. At the moment we're heavily in favor of sticking with what we have initially proposed. That isn't to say we aren't interested in expanding further down the road, but considering this could theoretically just be a huge flop at launch, we really wanna stick with the "safe" options and expand out later. See how it works out as a system with reps that have direct, varied, and relevant goals. Then we want to see what's good and bad before making adjustments and tacking on more factions.

  5. When the synth rights arc was going on, I was fighting hard on the anti-synth side, but alas, we lost. Despite the consequences not going how I wanted, it was ultimately due to player actions, their participation, and their involvement in one of the greatest arcs with player-driven participation in the server's history. I'm really unwilling to roll that back and say "SIKE!" When people say "why do synths have more privileges than before?" everyone can always point to that big event which was driven by the community and their actions on server. It should remain. But I am wide open to alternatives such as Kyres is coming up with. Around the time of the Frost event and during the second antag contest, the whole theme of "Synth Rights" grew extremely tired. It seemed like it encompassed all lore and it felt like it was all anyone talked about. As a lore writer it got exhausting, and I wanted to yeet it away and shift to a new hot button issue that everyone could talk about. The shifting didn't really work because of a poor follow through, since I was just the Tajara dev at the time and didn't want to lay my hands all over things outside of my lane, but I was happy to see people actually talking about other things and to be done with the hamfisted civil rights parallels. Anyways, I do agree that the pendulum swung a bit too far in the other direction, with everyone treating IPCs as equals. I would encourage things like "be the change you want to see" but for some reason it just doesn't work as well with IPCs as it does with Tajara and Unathi and Vaurcae and even Skrell. I feel pretty leisurely about making racial judgments and insults against the organic races, but when it comes to IPCs even I hesitate and think, "Can I get away with calling it a tin can? Or being rude to it? Or generally making it feel unwelcome?" Because the meta is that they are equal at this point. We'll figure out a way to compensate the discrepancy here.
  6. What sort of objectives would an Unathi representative have on hand that they try to complete each round? At the moment the focus is on factions immediately relevant to Tau Ceti, but the argument for variety and player choice can be made. Skrell, despite the Federation's importance for instance, is conspicuously missing. The reps need something to do other than just be a rep and being on station. PRA only is there because of NT's direct ties to the PRA and the large number of cheap republican tajaran workers in the company. What reasons might NT have for wanting an Unathi guy around?
I had very little interaction with the snakes, but TONS with my fellow crew. I joined in as my cargo Taj, and quickly found myself fitting in with the rest of cargo as a tight knit family. The snakes were just some abstract out there threat we hardly encountered, yet it brought us all together.... And close to mutiny.
  7. Hello! We're looking for a skrell lore developer rather than skrell lore deputies. Did you mean to apply for developer, or did you want this to wait as a deputy application until a lore developer is chosen?
  8. Skrell lore developer applications are now open! Please use the lore developer application format, and provide an original writing of your choosing which either demonstrates an understanding of skrell lore in its current state or express the direction in which you will be taking it. Happy warbling!

  10. Dolor Liberated From Occupation! The day is the 5th of July 2461, and the brave freedom fighters of Southern Harr'masir have freed themselves of the shackles of the Hadii in the city of Dolor. As the our armies approached from the North and from S'rendul and the guerrillas who had carried on the fight from the Din'akk Mountains approached the city, it appeared there would be a grim fight ahead. As the city was surrounded and liberation was at hand, the people rose up and stood for their rights as Tajara against the regime which dominated them. In the early hours of the day before the army's approach, citizens of Dolor took to the streets in uprising, using arms smuggled to them and calling up all remaining resistance cells. The city garrison was called up to help the riot police as molotov cocktails and satchel bombs rained down on government buildings and police lines. As gunfire ambushes began to plague military patrols and huntsmen began to assassinate officers, the military cracked down on the general insurgency within the city. But our brave freedom fighters did not give in to the repressive violence of these invaders! City blocks were turned into strongholds and attacking soldiers were sent packing. The tide began to turn when insurgents set a glorious blaze to the occupation food stockpiles, which consumed much of the city where they controlled. During the uprising as our great armies approached, planes began to fly overhead dropping flyers of the DPRA manifesto all over the city. Every street and every rooftop was filled with our glorious manifesto, proclaiming freedom and independence for all tajara. Loudspeakers on every street proclaimed the great message of tajaran democracy for all to hear, and radio stations in the city broadcast speeches from Nated and Harlala calling for peaceful annexation, along with a newly composed DPRA national anthem, at all hours of every day. From every window the glorious black flag and white stars hung, and many attacks against garrisons in the city were lead by brave rebels against the sadistic Hadii establishment waving our great flag in glorious martyrdom. Mere hours before the military arrived to the city from S'rendul, and hours after fighters from the Din'akk Mountains entered the city and joined the uprising, "Grand" "Peoples" Army garrison after garrison mutinied against whatever officers they had left, hanging them from the windows and rooftops. After painting white stars and stripes on black cloth, the flags of the "People's Republic" came down one after another, and the black flag went up over every stronghold in the city. The few remaining soldiers who remained "loyal" to the treacherous president were taken prisoner and interred within the very same prisoner camps they had used to oppress so many of our tajara, both within the industrial sector of the city and outside at the mines and farms. The Liberation Army marched through the city on parade, bathed in cheers and rained upon by the manifesto flyers used as celebratory confetti. President Harlala has celebrated the liberation of Dolor for showcasing the collective strength of the tajaran will, and the universal cry for freedom and self determination in action. On all corners of Adhomai, in every city and village, the oppressor should be aware of the natural tajaran inclination to free will. Those who seek to maintain the slavery of tajara and all Adhomai to foreign interests and off planet bank accounts should look upon this glorious battle, the noble and dignified freedom fighters and the mutineers, and surrender to the new wave of liberty which will save the tajaran race. Even now as Southern Harr'masir is liberated, our tajara march ever onwards north to remove the enemy from the continent, as Olska remains occupied. Resist on, brothers and sisters! At all times let your voice be the voice of liberty, and break free the bonds which oppress our people!

  15. MattAtlas? More like... MattASSLESS! Lmao, got em!

  16. All righty, after reading the app I did feel it fell short of being acceptable, so I will be denying this application. But if you had edits planned anyways, don't let this discourage you from applying again with whatever you planned.
  17. Hello! I plan on looking at this on Friday. If you have any edits to make, make sure you do so by then.
  18. Hello! Sorry for the delay, I've decided for now that I would like to keep the Bureau at a maximum of 10 agents. With UM's recent resignation, we have a position open for you, and considering the positive feedback, I've decided to accept you to the bureau. Trial started on 5 June 2019, ending a minimum of 30 days or until 2 IRs are completed.

  20. Republican Reserves Routed 26.05.2461 Nearly a month ago, the victorious offensive of the New Kingdom began, seeking finally to defeat the People's Republic of Adhomai. Many forces of the People's Republic Dymtris Front were shattered in combat, and forced to retreat. The opposition forces fell back to the southern end of the peninsula, regrouping with reserve forces from Baltor and Olska. Here, the Republican Army hoped to bottleneck and defeat our brave soldiers in this heavily wooded area, and here they were defeated. The battle began when the First Armored Alam'ard of the Imperial Army attempted to break through the western section of the enemy defenses, using the Royal Navy for artillery support. However this bold attack was blunted when Republican Airpower was brought to bear. Fierce Ha'rron fights erupted in the skies above as aircraft from the HMS Mata'ke sought air superiority. The First Armored Alam'ard was forced to retreat, along with several supporting infantry alam'ardii. Seeking to press their advantage, the communist forces began an armored counter attack. Massed artillery bombarded our forces on all sections of the front before multiple armored divisions supported by mechanized infantry smashed into our lines. Much of the combat became very close due to the density of tajara on the battlefield, with hand to hand combat in many areas as levies of the Imperial Army clambered onto the armored vehicles and sought to disable them however they could. Here the might of the Kingdom's Royal Grenadiers was apparent. Grenadiers threw their firebombs into the engine blocks of advancing armor, causing some to explode while others were merely turned into burning caskets. Despite these brave combatants, the Imperial Army was still ultimately being pushed back until a new development emerged. Only a handful of kilometers behind the front line, much of the Army's field guns and direct-fire canons had been arrayed in large batteries covered under trees. Armor piercing shells and high explosive rounds rained onto the communists, who were on open ground after much of the forest had been cleared by their own artillery and armored vehicles. The Imperial Army advanced once again. With the better trained portions of the Republican Army defeated and much of their offensive heavy equipment neutralized, the Imperial Army was able to effectively engage the undertrained reserve divisions who had spent most of the war stationed away from combat. As days went past, our brave tajara were able to breakthrough their defenses at the choke point and widen the front. Nighttime raids from the Imperial Dragoons harassed artillery positions, destroying large numbers of towed guns and stockpiles of shells. Large numbers of Tsarrayut’yan rifles were appropriated by our infantry, who were able to put them to better use with their superior experience. Limited numbers of Mata'ke Rafama Mk.II tanks which the communists had lost or abandoned during their armored assault also began to be repaired and repainted with the King's coat of arms. Among other armored support vehicles, these were brought into the First Armored Alam'ard as replacements for their own losses, and used to make multiple breakthroughs against the enemy. As it became clear the battle heavily favored our New Kingdom, the enemy began to pull back towards Baltor and Olska. However, communists seeking to retreat and take refuge in Baltor were in for a rude awakening. After the front had widened so that shore support was no longer helpful, the Royal Navy loaded a detachment of marines and set course for the naval base. The base was soon captured after expending much of the Kingdom's remaining cruise missile inventory and waging a costly air support action from the HMS Mata'ke. The HMS Dolor, a battlecruiser, was heavily damaged by submarine attacks but was able to dock at Baltor after marines seized the base. Republican forces heading to Baltor were then cutoff from those retreating to Olska by the Imperial Army, and slowly enveloped as they approached their base. The marine detachment, reinforced by arming the sailors of the HMS Dolor, made a heroic defense of the base as communist soldiers attempted to assault them. The attack proved the be coordinated as the Republican Navy clashed with the Royal Navy at sea, hoping to rescue their forces and re-establish the base as a vital artery in their supply lines for the Harr'masir theater. Although the fighting was hard won with many casualties, the armies attempting to retake Baltor were defeated and surrendered after the defenders narrowly held on while the Army pressed into their rear. With this major defeat of the Republican Army, morale is higher than ever both at home and in the trenches. Many critics of the war continue to point to the tajaran cost of war, using the high casualty operations of the initial retreat on the isthmus and the mass loss of life among the marines who held Baltor as a rallying cry for peace. These criticisms are now largely the minority opinion as anti-war protests briefly gave way to parades and celebrations in the streets of Kaltir, Dymtris, and Barj'ar. The king surprised everyone by tempering the enthusiasm, releasing a public statement which stated, "The siege of Olska will carry great loss of tajaran life." Warhawks in Parliament, while still the vast minority compared to those who now seek peace, were emboldened by the recent campaign. They shrugged off the King's statement, saying "Now all that remains in North Harr'masir are undertrained soldiers, with their major supply route cut off. Surely they will surrender, or else be crushed by the might of our armies." The Royal Telegraph Staff would like to encourage readers from abroad to purchase subscriptions to our news service. At this crucial moment, 75% of all funds raised by subscription fees will be dedicated to the medical costs of wounded veterans from the recent campaign.
