I wanna start off by saying your profile picture is a very cute, wholesome anime girl. This had significant effect on my evaluation of your application. Secondly, you seem to take feedback very well. All throughout the thread you've been responsive and friendly. Without futher interepution, let's celebrate, and rate some apps. A pitfall of many applications is overfocusing on the era of synthetic oppression, as many applicants try to capture the traumatized victim approach. Your application did well to not go overboard, but while I think that it's good that it captured the msigivings your character has for synthetics I do think that the way it's painted makes her seem too terrified to even consider working with humans. I guess dial it back a bit to persistent pessimism instead of seeming to be outright terror, is how I feel. Believe it or not, your skrell application and my own have some similarities! Mine was also an Aliosian who got degrees in bluespace research who did some bit part in research that benefited the Jargon navy, though mine was as bit part and far removed as I could make him. I think everyone has overblown the level by which you meant to describe your character's contributions (name withheld since I can't scroll down to it and forgot to quote your application). But I can see where their concerns are coming from. It's worth noting that Grand Councillor Weashbi Jrugl is considered a young superstar hotshot and overly accomplished scientist at the age of 103, but your character is 31 with some powerful education gravitas pitching ideas to a prominent scientist before even leaving to human space. At that age, pretty much all of the other skrell are going to look at yours as almost child-like. I think it might be a good idea to tack on another 20-30 years to better land in the young adult zone that I think she was meant to be depicted as. Her relationship with scientist mcJargon Fleet otherwise seems like more of a mentor-pupil friendship to me. I almost see him as being endearingly condescending, yet friendly, as little Rilumim throws novel ideas at him. Along with pushing the age to a higher number, we also reach an area where she would have been alive for the discovery of humanity. Being interested in meeting literal space aliens might make her want to come sail away to the dangerous slopes of human space. In summary, my advice is: Dial-back synth terror dial up age dial in to xenophilic culture

[Accepted]Chen's Tajaran Whitelist Application
Mofo1995 replied to Chen Yakumo's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Wowee, I wasn't expecting a full rewrites. Since the comments before Loows were more focused on testifying about your quality as a roleplayer rather than analaysis of your application and backstory, I'll just roll 'em over and still consider them valid for this since I'm going to assume you didn't magically become bad at RP as part of your rewrite. Okay, let's take it from the top. I uncomfortably shifted in my chair as I realized how too on the nose making the oppressed Tajaran race have the color black is. I had added it to justify some of the paintings of black cats on the wiki and threw them in with Zhan because of their description for dark fur patterns, but it took until just now for me to fully realize the implication. Strong app so far, made me reflect on my own lore already. Truly the golden age of Al-Mari. The ho-hum life of the modernizing Tajara. I like how it picked up on and expressed the mundanity of peacetime interwar Adhomai with simplicity, much like the times themselves were simple. I like this a lot! It absolutely captures how life-changing the assassination of Al-Mari was to all Tajara. My only serious concern, which could be explained away as a an IC misunderstanding on your character's part is the thought that Malik Hadii had pulled out of deals with NanoTrasen. Al-Mari had been the one to pull out of trade deals which really gave Tajara the shaft, only really making the more capitalists profiteers in society who were benefiting from it upset. Otherwise the move was wildly popular with the everytajara. When Malik came into power, he reinstated those same deals except on steroids. A set of moves cited by rebels as a reason for their war. Other than that, it's good stuff. I didn't get to deliver any serious criticism like I wanted to, but I have to go to bed for the work I have in 3 hours. Application accepted, thank you for your patience. -

I'm going to give this another day to stew now that some criticism has swooped in before me. I'll give you time to respond and make any changes you see fit before I make my review. Edit : It's going to be somewhere between 23 to 36 hours, depending on if any changes are made or ensuing discussion had. -
It doesn't have to be retroactive or a retconn. ALA terrorists just carried out a high profile canon attack with deaths against the station a couple weeks ago. Several AdhomaiChronicle articles claim Zhan are prone to rebellion and violence based on their race. Something which, while objectively untrue, is the orthodoxy held by the post Al Mari PRA. Whether through buying the PRA memes (Tajara are aliens and shouldnt be held to the same standard as humans) or cynically recognizing thr anti-Zhan rhetoric of their puppet state paints a target on the corporation by Zhan, they could implement a new policy rather than any retconn to lore. That's assuming its enacted. The voting component is just one part of the upcoming decision, discussion feedback matters too, so speak up if you have opinions to share.

I understand concerns about the Tajaran civil war. All everyone needs to know is that I'm not just spinning tires here when I write about it. I had hoped that, by writing a timeline of history leading up to the wars, everyone might know more about the areas and everything they're about. The regional lore update has taken far longer to roll out than I originally intended, with only Southern Rasn'rr and Amodha rolled out onto the WIP page so far. The short description of Das'nrra is that its the birthplace of industrialization, and had a long history as a naval empire which colonized the far north of Harr'masir, in the modern day NKA. It is a bit ironic that people feel the DPRA and the ALA are the least fleshed out, because honestly they're my favorite faction. They're antagonistic in nature, it's true. But... antagonistic against what. The actual and not metaphorical subjugation of their planet to foreign interests and the people who were probably behind the hit job on the most popular leader in Tajaran history. We have to remember that, in the context of our lore, NT runs the show and that we play as NT employees. Of course they're hostile and antagonistic to the megacorporation which is in the process of colonizing them. But, you're all right, their domestic lore is conspicuously missing. I'll elaborate for the sake of discussion. Prior to the formation of the DPRA in 2459, the game plan was to supplant the PRA as the true successor regime to Al-Mari Hadii's vision for the Tajaran race. However the nature of it being a failed military coup with widespread guerrilla support had the faction as a military without a government. Initially, warlords would just setup their domains and enjoy the large degree of autonomy that high command gave them, respecting the rights of the people because it was demanded of them, but mostly conscripting and taxing however they saw fit. The purpose of the formation of the DPRA is the military high command recognizing that, while it's all fine and well to be decentralized, they needed a singular government with universal laws to enforce the rights of Tajara, rather than just letting unwritten oaths and pledges be the only force binding it. Recognizing that maybe defeating the PRA is going to take some time, they started future proofing their movement and preparing for longevity. What is the DPRA like? Who are its political leaders? What are the characteristics of its legislative and judicial systems? Well, that's all still being figured out. It's a young nation, and for the first time the faction which promises direct participation of its citizens in government is actually making the effort to come through on their demands.

Hey everyone! I've had deputies for a bit over a month now, and although news articles largely stalled for awhile, wiki content has exploded. The fashion and cuisine pages have rolled out with a total rework/expansion of the S'randmarr religion waiting for my review and approval. While my personal wiki work has been set aside this month as I am working on a hitherto unannounced non-Tajara lore related project, I wanted to take this time to check the winds and make sure we haven't sailed off course. How do you feel about the new wiki content if you've read it? How do you feel about the past few news articles? Have my deputies and I been responsive and helpful to any lore questions you may have had? How do you feel about the overall quality of Tajara lore? Do you have any outstanding complaints not just about new lore, but about old lore which we can take into consideration or even possibly address?

The Suns Shine on Our Armies The suns shined upon our armies today east of Shastar City where the Hro'rammhad Tank Corps kept vigil over the wooded Das'nrra countryside. The Seventh Combined Arms Army of the republican forces surrounded the decorated Corps by dividing itself into three units, each individually smaller than our own. The traitors to Rhagrrhuzau's legacy had no idea that it was them who would perish. One week ago, Liberation Army Intelligence conducted a harrowing operation abroad in the Republic of Biesel, the heart of the string pullers which profiteer from our conflict. A liaison from the People's Republic had drawn up plans with the aid of human advisers in order to destroy to change the tide on the Shastar Front. Agents sympathetic to our cause were able to successfully ambush one of the officers of the Republican mission and acquire the plans. The Seventh Combined Arms Army planned to attack the Tank Corps in three directions at once, cutting it off from retreat and eliminating it completely. The move was intended to secure a total morale victory as well as to pave the way to the capital of our revolution. Armed with this information, and brave in his manner, Commander Kahan Hro'rammhad acted decisively. Three days ago, three days before the planned Republican attack, the counter attack began. At 01:20 hours local time, plants among the enemy began the operation with the harrowing execution of enemy radio operators and officers wherever they could be found. Shortly after, partisans from the local villages assaulted supply and fuel depos- their heroic sacrifices proving essential to the coming victory. As the suns rose, the engines of our Mata'ke Rafamas roared to life and a concentrated attack on the first of the three units began. By noon, it was destroyed completely, and by the next day, the second of the units joined them. Overcoming their immobilization by our brave irregulars, the third unit was able to make itself coherent and engage our tank corps hours after the second republican unit was defeated. Until today, the battle raged as the Republican Unit pulled back, chased by our impenetrable armor, making hopeless rear guard actions along the way. Only as they reached the thawed running Alrafma river, with its bridges destroyed, did they make their stand against our might. Only two hours ago, following a mutiny against their political officers, they surrendered. Although the agents abroad are to remain anonymous, the Democratic People's Government unanimously decided to create and award them a new honor. "The Order of Rhagrrhuzau." Were they to live to receive these medals, they would proudly display the highest award of the DPRA, those who make righteous rebellion against tyranny, no matter the seemingly insurmountable odds.

[Accepted]Furrycactus' Tajaran Application
Mofo1995 replied to furrycactus's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Normally, good form would be to give you a full in-depth feedback about what I did and didn't like, but tonight was the latest possible time I told you I would get back to you by and I have to go to bed for work tomorrow. You seem to be a mature player who can handle your character tastefully and have a solid grasp on the lore. I liked how the trope of the young tinkering engineer was just flatout blocked when his older brother wouldn't bring things home from the factory for him. If there's one thing that kills me, it's how many Tajara apps feature young inventors. I also like how Assar'Al Assad had to go out and get a job when he came of age as opposed to directly being educated. The distance of the war was a fresh change of pace, considering you opted to make your character an older gentleman. But you clearly showed an understanding of the timeline of events and the establishment of the PRA. There seems to be a subtle implication in his backstory that hints that he might be pliable to ALA subversion but is hitherto ignorant of the movement and believes PRA propaganda. I thought that was an interesting touch, even if I'm just projecting. Application approved. -

Republicans Assault the Vlrralkhzazhul Line 01.05.2460 An emergency broadcast from the Vlrralkhzazhul Line’s 4th Engineering bastion has been reported by Field Marshal Zarkradar'Akhan to the Royal Telegraph. The forces of the Republican Army have launched a flurry of artillery strikes, as well as a significant mechanized ground assault against the bastion in an attempt to delay completion of the grand edifice. While casualty and fatality reports have yet to be released, they are expected to be high; the Field Marshal has told the Royal Telegraph that the attack was repulsed, though at a high cost. The 1st Volunteer Alam’ard was reported by various military sources to have suffered significant casualties in the assault. The fighting for this unit allegedly went on far into the night, with multiple mortars and artillery pieces firing on both the construction work, and the worker camps. The assault was finally brought to an end when two squads of the Alam'ard's Third Rifle Company outflanked the artillery emplacement, and using explosives taken from the engineering camp, rendered the weaponry there inoperable. These events have generated criticism for the Field Marshal from many officers who feel that the defensive strategy is scarcely so promising as an offensive. Critics are quick to point out the declining war potential of the People's Republic since the Kingdom's previous offensive as well as the Republican attack which had reached the outskirts of Kaltir. Many of the new members of parliament, a younger demographic now since the terror bombing of November 2459, have likewise adopted the position. In a statement defending the decisions of Imperial High Command, King Azunja called for patience and praised the valorous defense by our armies. The Royal Telegraph Staff would like to encourage readers from abroad to purchase subscriptions to our news service. Twenty-Five percent of all fees raised by subscriptions within the next year are allocated to the crucial resources needed for the new defensive line. Article Submitted by Gollee

Gollee was the one who hired me two years and a month ago, so forgive me if there's some bias here. I think he would be a great fit for the team. He was always very level-headed, well-read about all the regulations, modest, and eager to help. He easily has my endorsement. -

[Accepted]DeadLantern's Tajara application

1 - It was a rumor that they heard that they were rounding up and killing families, and they did not want to see if it was true or not. 2 - They are not Njarjir themselves---They practiced a religion that worshiped the Njarir-Ahkran. Of course, they had to remove their ancestry because finding out that they worshiped the Njarir-Ahkran is almost as bad as finding out that they are Njarir-Ahkran. Here's the lore page on the religion: "At one point, a religion was established heralding the nobility themselves as gods by certain devout loyalists, but this faith has all but been completely erased following the uprising. Individuals who were recorded to believe in or are suspected of being a member undergo persecution and even in some cases death sentences. With most loyalists either in hiding or killed during the uprising, and all places of worship destroyed, any intelligent Tajara would never admit to being, or attempt to defend, a member of this faith." That's all. Ah! Okay. IT wasn't very clear at all that they worshipped them, I never really thought of the name "Njarir-Ahkran" as doubling for the name of the religion in addition to the race. I always tried to distinguish by saying "Njarir Worship" and things of that effect. But that's fine. Anyways, I'm willing to give you a whitelist. Good app! -
[Accepted]DeadLantern's Tajara application
Mofo1995 replied to DeadLantern's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
While I think rounding up and killing entire Zhan communities isn't representative of the immediate response to Al-Mari's assassination, I'm sure there was a massive spike of anti-Zhan racial crimes, and even more, that most law enforcement would turn their back on these kinds of things. It was the extreme racial reaction against the Zhan-Khazan which really emboldened the ALA and gave it a cause beyond merely claiming to be Al-Mari's successor- unity among Tajara and defence of the underclass against the Njarir. I don't really know how they're Njarir that pretend to be Zhan, unless the idea is they racemixed and hid the Njarir ancestory for fear of the popular reprisals. I think I would like an explanation about that one. Other than that, I like the general trend of the rest of the story. At first I was worried it would be a pity party and "muh racism" the application, but I think it had a good number of twists and turns combined with a strong character design complete with personality, history, motivations, and general understanding of the lore. Once you respond I'll give my verdict. -
Maybe it's an assumption that the commander and his off-station team "hacks into" the cameras and holopads, allowing them to not control everything like an AI, but to manifest themselves on holopads and view on station events as an AI would. Then maybe actions by operatives on station could possibly give our guy actual AI-level capabilities, though I think there should be a very tall bar for entry there. As far as what the commander could do, I'm very fond of dead drops. But the biggest struggle I have, as do many who actually use dead drops, is doing it incognito. I think the best way to address this is for the commander to have the ability to teleport lockers or chests onto the station with pre-packaged equipment. In the hypothetical case where a syndicate commander would be a person on some z-level somewhere. But there would have to be some sort of managed resource associated with this. Maybe it could be as simple as credits, with the commander starting off with few credits to work with and the ability for syndicate operatives on station to deposit credits towards the commander at any ATM (which would also give them a much needed upgrade to be less than decorations!) I think the ability to ex-filtrate operatives is a must. One common problem I feel when I play an antag round is, "What is my end-game? How do I approach this non-suicidally while also engaging others?" The expectation I feel is often that we're just expected to get murderboned by security so they can circlejerk about their 1337 kills. How to execute an exit for our ops would be a trouble though. The "coolest" way I can think of would be that the commander can send a shuttle to dock at a few different options of airlocks, but I have no idea about how difficult that would be mapping and coding wise. The "lamest" way possible would be teleporting them away as if they were deadrops of cargo. Those are just my directionless thoughts.

I've finally dropped in to give my response. I'm kind of disappointed that you wrote this large and emotionally charged story with a strong character design with a clearly defined personality and a good understanding of lore, and no one came in to talk about it. So don't take it as disappointment at you, this application is GREAT. My only nitpick is that the PRA was a volunteer army during the interwar period and leading up to 2457 when the draft was implemented. But I think it's easy to fix the story without much intrusive change, we can change from him being drafted to him being a reservist that was called up. Something along those lines. I really don't have much feedback to offer other than that, once that's addressed I'd be happy to give you a whitelist.
