  1. I got a story about my character, it's right below.
  2. I have to say, the English teacher part struck me as the weirdest and most disparaging about all of this. Assuming your post is serious though, I wish you the best of luck, and always remember that chubbing and tucking is better economically since it will keep you warmer in these winter months so that you don't have to buy new coats.
  3. For some reason, I really want socks now. No more walking around in your shoes sockless.
  4. You Jawas have to stick together huh? Us Rodians are out here getting shot first every day. There were at /least/ two dozen witnesses to the slaying of Freedom and no justice. You Jawas think you have it rough? I laugh at you. EDIT: phone autocorrected Greedo to Freedom. I'm tempted to fix it but I think I'll leave it the way it is for keks.
  5. I agree with this. All though the throwers don't leave fuel around anymore, they still do pretty much nothing but look cooler. I literally couldn't burn a mouse to death in maintenance, I had to bludgeon it with the thrower.
  6. All though the lack of drama doesn't make the forums as entertaining the browse, I think it could be a sign of us having, at least for now, a healthier OOC community. Good work everyone!
  7. I'll give this a definite +1. Too many IPCs these days are emotional shells that are way too impossible to differentiate between other humans. I like the idea of having an IPC around whose RP is bound by Asimov's laws, since they're wonderfully imperfect but interesting nonetheless. Furthermore, I've played with Sleepy a lot, most recently with Rachel Meinberg, and I have to say that he really brings good roleplay to the table every time he's around, the instance which sticks out most recently was the herding of 30 protohumans from genetics to the RD office for a protohuman holocaust. (Was antag motivated but still fantastic.)
  8. Floral Somatoray Notes By Isiah Fraser, Ph.D along with the help of Whispering Willow How Does it Work? The Floral Somatoray operates by showering a plant in large doses of radiation in order to effect some sort of change. It is able to accomplish this goal by exposing a radioactive Uranium core, housed within the somatoray, to a target in order to dose it with radiation. Different factors can contribute to the the amounts of radiation which is sent to a target. These factors include firstly, a filter in the somatoray's "barrel" which can effect two different settings, low and high radiation. The other factor is exposure time, as this affects the amount of rads a target will receive whereas the previous factor determines the type of radiation the target will be showered in. This paper is a collection of observations of the floral somatoray being used on various plants. Observations It would appear the the Somatoray "feeds" Dionae. My adopted son, Whispering Willow, utilized it on himself to determine this effect. Not only does it "feed' Dionae, it can also be utilized to heal their wounds in a rapid way if they receive more serious wounds, also verified this session. It seems that the somatoray increases the yields of the harvests, as determined by being utilized on a chantrelle plant. I have been told that if a plant is given too much radiation such that it mutates, it can grow fruits which are dangerous to humans. However, this would take much much much more than the radiation used to enhance crop yields. More experimenting will need to be done on this later. - 9 January 2458 by Isiah Fraser, Ph.D For this session, we will be experimenting with the applications of irradiating plants in higher doses to the point where they are expected to mutate. I should have specified for the previous experiment the conditions of the testing envrionment. The atmospheric conditions were standard ATP, and there was 8 lumens in the room. To begin with, we setup two tomato plants, and mutated only one of them. We doused it in high doses of radiation and compared it to a more gentically pure counterpart. The result, as determined by a plant analyzer, were as follows. After four doses of high radiation: - Lifespan Decreased by Four - Endurance Decreased by Sixteen [*]The mutated plant was then given four more doses of mutation type doses, but there was no change in the characteristics of the plant following this. When the fruits were harvested, the mutated plant gave noticeably larger tomatoes compared to the unmutated plant. However, all though it was noticeable, it was negligible. Only the most penny pinching farmer would consider it to have a considerable amount of extra tomato. My colleague then proceeded to repeatedly blast a berry bush with mutagenic radiation until it was noticeably radiated in a visible manner. However, the results were discouraging for anyone who may have believed such a haphazard process could create super plants. The results are as follows: - Endurance down by 41. - Yield doubled - Lifespan down by one. - Maturation and production times increased by one. - Potency reduced from six to zero. More tests will have to be performed in a controlled environment, as the yield of the plant itself did increase by a factor of two. The next tests will have to examine the effects on a plant after considerable, if not lethal, amounts of radiation are utilized. - 12 January 2458 by Isiah Fraser, Ph.D
  9. This is a placeholder post to say +1. I'll get the into the details by editing this post tomorrow to explain my reasoning.
  10. I liked the part where the golems had to choose between being eaten by slimes or immolation from the fire they started.
  11. Giving this a bumparoo with the hopes that Frances will respond.
  12. So, I've had some decent experiences with Dr. Black, no serious roleplay with him really but I' ve seen him around mostly doing toxins research. I would give this a +1, but there's one hangup I have and its your both IC and OOC crusade against paperwork. Namely, one time when I was Interim RD, Black flat out told me he refused to do any paperwork. As Director, would you satisfactorily do your part in the Bureaucratic paperwork machine?
  13. +1 I feel like Shkor and Akero would get along pretty well and have a lot in common with the pasts in military research for the Jargon Fed. Plus, I really like your character Night, and I think he's a good Diona. But focusing more on your skrell, the backstory's pretty decent, and I like how you brought the terrorism angle into it.
  14. I'm up for heisting. I'll even bring my Nugget.
  15. Given the current motivations to drive people to revolt, rev is like that. At least mutiny usually forces some kind of crisis that leads people to rise up, but with rev it's literally just: they took our cash and alcohol! I struggle immensely to convert people as a rev, because with the current in-game economy, literally noone cares about losing money, and usually are not empathetic enough to care about people getting fired. I'm hoping the new economy will contribute to fixing this.
  16. Thanks! I tried to keep xenoracism away from being the central point of my back story, because I didn't want to box myself into being forced to choose between a frogsecution complex and a deus ex machina, since Shkor is pretty tolerant. But surely it would've been impossible to fully insulate himself from all racist events, so I left the "not well received everywhere" as a blanket statement. As for your character, Shkor would've certainly included primary school education as part of his in depth study of humans, and I'd imagine would've contributed to teaching people about Skrell I.e. by occasionally visiting schools as a guest speaker. So Elena might remember him, but likely not vice versa.
  17. I've had nothing but positive experiences with Thundy both ICly and OOCly, I most certainly believe that a roleplayer of this magnitude would make a really interesting Vaurca drone, so +1 from me. And all though the character backstory idea may have been stolen as you put it, I still really enjoyed it.
  18. Who is the Grand Chancellor of the Skrell? Who are some prominent figures in Skrell society/history? What are some current policies of the Jargon Federation? I find myself asking all these questions of macro-scopic elements of Skrell society. One time when something went wrong, I went to say a "thanks Obama" type thing except with the Grand Chancellors name, only to see that I couldn't find it.
  19. You taught me all about Vaurca which lets me seem like a lore-studying badass when I get to explain all about the Vaurca to the uninitiated. And even better, you did it ICly which made for some great roleplay. There was also that amazing cult round where you died as a Vaurca engi, respawned as my adamantine golem, converted to the cult, then dissected by me and then borged. I was rolling off my couch laughing after all that, +1 without any doubts.
  20. I for one, on principle rather than on knowledge of the situation, believe we should stand behind king-fuhrer skull in his never ending quest to ban all heathens. Not really, supreme executive power is derived from the masses, as a peasant on Month Python put it. I've been in a situation similar to this with many people in my life, and all though I don't really know plahunter, I don't think I'd unban him given the circumstances and the external-aurora community shit that's been flung, considering the dosages of mercy which have been administered in the past. EDIT: Also what Skull said about the specific people who were affected and are stable members of the community.
  21. Your pun game is off man, get it together! Yeah that was some great RP in xenobio, and the timing of you going SSD was terrible since I had just typed out a long winded response. RIP Ukhaan's family. Thanks for the +4, Hopefully The Scatman, Research Director can complete cyrogenic revivial.
